An update on my Biometrics appointment.

I had my appointment in LA yesterday. I got there at 2pm and was out by 3pm. Nice and friendly staff.
Hopefully the GC will be in the mail soon! :)

The CSC seems to be pretty quick when it comes to the I-751.... :thumbs:

looks like it takes about 3 or 4 months from start to finish....

Hi!
I've recently sent my application to the Los Angeles service center. It was received by them on Feb 13th and the check was cashed in on Feb 25th. I am yet to receive the NOA. I'm wondering if I'm gonna get my biometric appointment/GC on time before i travel. My green card expires on April 21 and I'm traveling abroad on April 16th.. :wacko:
Has anyone recently filed in Southern California? Thanks for sharing your experience!

to answer Sami's question:
I sent a 60 pages folder including:
- 3 affidavits of support from physician friends (none of them notorized)
- 2 joint returns
- credit card statements, joint checking accounts statements
- insurance policy
- medical insurance, medical statements
- letter from fertility clinic with both our names on
- car loan
- apartment lease
- pictures of our religious wedding in France (with 80 people), honey moon, various vacations, my parents visit if NY...

I probably over did it but I wanted to play it safe. Nothing was notarized. I translated myself one document from French to English. that's about it!

Since moving here, getting married, and getting my conditional residency I have managed to lose my passport. Now, Im not really planning on any overseas vacations for a year or two so am not in a big rush to get a new British passport and spend $$$$ doing so- but is it necessary to have it when removing conditions? Or do they just give you a new greencard? Ive been reading about the stamp they put in your passport- is this always the case?

I'm sorry to ask a question that may seem straight forward! I have looked on the USCIS site, and cant find the information I need.

I came to the US, on a 2 year permanent resident card. It will expired in 8 months, and I want to get the fees and paperwork ready.

Can anyone let me know what form I will need? and the fees?

When i moved here, I was pregnant. I had a medical, but had to pass on the xray, and a couple of shots.

Any advice would be helpful!

I really need help with my medical expenses, and will be filing I175I soon. I just wanted to know if I apply for a Texas gold card, will it harm my chances of staying legal?

It is a state insurance, and helps so that you pay low co payments, without a monthly fee at the doctors office.

Hello VJers,

It seems like just yesterday I got my GC, and now im renewing it.

Its now 12:00am. I am really really busy, and evenings are the only little bit of time to my self I get to concentrate on paperwork! I babysit kids during the day, housewife by night with a demanding 1 year old. So please take pity on me, if I am asking questions that may be in the forum somewhere.

I have started the paperwork, and I feel like I will be denied, as we do not have too much evidence.

We do not have insurance, will, or anything like that. I am going to open a joint savings account tomorrow with both of our names. So do you think this is enough?

Tax Returns

Addvidats from 3 friends ( Do I need to get them notarised?? )

Copy of lease of our apartment

Our sons birth certificate

We could also include some utility bills, such as electricity, phone bills etc. ( Do I need to include every one from over the last two years?? )

Thats all we have, do you think including a few pictures will make all the difference? If so how many should I include?

We have not taken any vacation etc...

Any advice would help a very sleepy mum.

Hi,

Congrats with the baby

My Now wife had a hard time when applying for my Son's US passport.
We were un-married, so we thought it would be relitively straight forward.
However, when my wife attended the interview in London, the officer (a British guy) questioned whtehr she had been in the US long enough to transmit citizenship to our son.

He accused her of living in Canada or Mexico most of her life. My Wife has never been to mexio. But because back then you could enter on you birth certificate, having a valid passport did not prove to them she was a UK citizen. The guy said it would have been easier if she never had passport till recently.
My wife is aslo a UK citizen, so she was accused of using that passport, even thought it was first issued in 1996
My wife offered schooling transcript, but she was met with a "don't even go there"
Here are the facts:

Born in TN 1975. US passport from baby till present day. All Passport except most recent issued in the US.
UK Passport first issued 1996
In the UK 1998-2009.

Either case she spent at least 5 years resident in the US with 2 years over the age of 14.


In the end she produced every passport she ever has from birth and my Son's citizenshup was granted.

Thanks! My biggest fear is to screw up something because of ignorance, and I feel the urge to mention this incident and what was the final result. The point is, there was some kind of a contact with the law enforcement for something they suspected was wrong and were correct about it. It was also fixed on time, so there were no further actions taken and there should be no records.


I have already had my interview. I ticked yes on my form for a similar reason. There was no record or reason why I was stopped in the county records when I went to the town hall. However there was a record that I was stopped with the local bureau of investigation. When I was sworn in during my interview the IO asked the question if I had been cited... for any reason, I said yes. She immediately looked at her computer, flicked through my file to a certain page,said "ah yes, tell me about it" I gave a brief explanation that it was quashed because I fixed the problem and of my visit to the town hall. now I am taking my oath in a few weeks.

My reasoning was that, if it was irrelevant, it was better that she said I did not need to put that rather than she looks in my file, say you were stopped by police and did not mention it.

I ticked yes because I was not sure. Not being sure I wanted to show my intention to the IO I wanted to discuss. We discussed it, and it was deemed inconsequential. It was a weight off my mind not having to contemplate whether I should have told them or not. Or whether it will come back to bite me on the rear end. every State has their own way of defining traffic offences, so it is tricky.

So, this is it! My journey has come to an end. From beginningto end, it took almost exactly 3 years and 9 months.

Due to unforeseen circumstance, my final interview and oathceremony had to be scheduled. However, I received unbelievably quick alternatedates.

My Oath ceremony took place in the Federal District Court,in Nashville, TN, scheduled for an 11:30 starts. There were 60 of us in total,representing 31 nationalities.

I arrived on the 8th floor at 10:40. We were ushered in ataround on time. We signed or declaration, handed in our green cards, signed ournationalization certificated, and sat in our designated seats.

After a quick rehearsal, we waited patiently for the Judgeto arrive. Now, I unfortunately had a large Starbucks coffee on the way in, asI had already been up for 20 hours after coming here almost directly from anight shift at work. I went to the restroom 3 times before being called in, butalmost wet myself, as the judge to what was close to 45 minutes to arrive afterthe rehearsal.

In any case, as soon as he did, my discomfort vanished,leading me to believe it was psychological in nature.

The majority of the ceremony consisted of the Judge showinga slide show of his family's journey t.o the US.

All in all, it was a very good day.

Updated my status.

OK so I received my Oath letter, which was quick. My oath is the day before I was due to go on a long Florida holiday, Phew! I was worried as i is the only time my wife and I can get time off work together. The journey is almost over!

Updating my status
I had my interview today.

I entered the building 5 minutes early at 11:45, and was on my way home by 12:05.
I cannot remember what the officer asked me to read or write. However, the questions were as i recall:

1. Who wrote the declaration of independence>
2. Name one state that borders Mexico
3. Who id the commander in Chief..
4Name 3 of the 13 original colonies
5. What is the political party of the President now
6. What are the two major political parties...

She said I would get my oath letter and have the ceremony in around 6 weeks.

Me too. I had my bio on Wednesday. I received the text 2pm this afternoon

That was fast.. I am already scheduled for the interview. I am waiting for the letter to find out the date and time :)
