OK, so after 20 working days our ceac finally said issued this morning, but when we called DoS they tell us that it's an error :( WHY DO THEY PLAY WITH OUR EMOTIONS LIKE THIS!!! Only 14 days till our wedding now, can't take much more :( Still have to wait for delivery and then then book flights.
Has anyone else been told this by them?!?

United KingdomWhere is my visa?

oh god, really pray it gets worked out fast for you to make your flight. A lot of us sill waiting for visa's my interview was on the 5th august and my wedding is on september 14th and we are still waiting for ours to arrive too, we haven't booked flights though. Still panicking about making the wedding though :( 12 days and they are closed today! So frustrating :(
I called DX this morning as I had had a missed call from an unknown number but it wasn't them, the lady on the phone was very helpful though.... infact I called twice because the first number i called (ending in 0000) the woman on the end of the line was VERY uninterested and practically yawning told me nothing really at all, so i trawled through another thread on here as I had remembered seeing another number for DX ending in 6666. When I called that number they were really helpful, mine is still not with them but she has put on my case its urgent so here's hoping!!
xXx

yeah i just spent 20 minutes on the phone line to pay for my fee's... £25 to pay for a fee is probably the most annoying thing I have had to pay for in this whole process and as you all know there are a lot of costs involved!
Hope this works out and fast for all those still waiting to get to this point

United KingdomIV Checklist lost - send in DS-230?
QUOTE (James and Megan @ Oct 9 2009, 11:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So James (beneficiary) got a letter in the mail saying nothing has been received and they will dismiss our petition if nothing is received in 60 days. So he called the embassy and they confirmed that nothing had been received and he should resubmit the IV Checklist - it was originally submitted September 18 and still hasn't shown up.

The lady on the phone also mentioned that James should submit a DS-230 part 1 or his case wouldn't progress; everywhere else i have read said to sit on your paperwork until interview time and don't send in anything but the IV Checklist. Have I just been misinformed or has everyone else sent this in?

To answer my own question, I just read more on the embassy site and apparently we're supposed to smile.gif Good thing that form got lost.

how are we gonna cope with the usa life style.. they serve you flavoured tea with NOOO MILK and look at you like youre crazy when you ask??

im gonna have tea too!

tongue.gif Well, I got Knight hooked on tea with milk and sugar so I think that won't be an issue...otherwise, I'm just gonna stock loads of tea and take it with me! I'm also gonna demand a kettle because (gasp!) they make their tea in the microwave. That's just plain wrong! But, I find that some berry teas can be quite nice, and maybe some Roobois...

Magpie.

ewww who does that, tea in the micro?? thats insane! i bought a kettle for the "inlaws" they used to boil water in a pot on the cooker.. it always cracks me up how they always empty the kettle after use and unplug it.. im thinking.. youre not serious??

i always feel like i have an addiction.....

Ive definetly warmed tea up in the Microwave before because I just forgot it was there

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBrown Envelope at POE

I had two brown envelopes arrive, one being the xray photo which wasnt sealed and the other one which says do not open(sealed).

Ok, i feel beter now
I was handed the X-ray envelope at the interview, which was open.
But they send you another envelope that i get when they return my visa and passport, that i didnt know
Thanx for that
Spence

sorry I must have misunderstood, I did get an opened envelope containing my x-ray and you should carry this in your hand luggage to POE, in addition to the envelope you will receive when your passport is returned by the courier service from the US London embassy. This envelope is sealed and MUST NOT be opened. It can only be opened by an immigration officer at your POE.

I was told when I got my x-ray back that it's fine if it's packed along with my normal luggage, that it isn't needed at the POE. The envelope for it is massive too, I dunno how they'd expect it to be in hand luggage without bending it...

ooh. that xray guy. lol

if he's the same middle aged-ish kind that did mine he went one better with me.

as i've been somewhat overly blessed in the breast department blush.gif he had to redo my xray. he then proceeded to tell me that his wife was a 38dd. laughing.gif

all i could say was ''really'' that must be nice for you. rofl.gif

oh and by the way the whole experience cost me, for my son and myself £270 huh.gif

and also meant that i had to force myself to not go into any of the shops i passed on the way making mental notes of what i wanted to buy. no0pb.gif

lol!

Thanks for all the information.

My son's father has only had him stay over once in five years.

He is named on the birth certificate but we were never married.

My son was born prior to December 2003 and I'm guessing I will still need some form of notarised document.

My problem now is I have no idea how to contact him as he moved away and now has a new life/girlfriend.

What would I do in this case?

The last time we spoke he was ok with the idea, but he's been secretive ever since as I guess he doesn't want to pay for his son's upkeep. mad.gif

This doesn't bother me in the slightest but of course I need to find him now.

I've read on some parental website that after Dec 2003 if the couple were never married, even though the father is named on the birth certificate he has no rights and therefore permission is not needed.

I was a detective at Heathrow and dealt weekly with child abductions.

The above is the other way around. After Dec 2003 if the father is named on the birth certificate he has the same parental rights as the mother.

To remove the child from the UK without his consent if he made a complaint would be an offence.

If the child was born before Dec 2003 or the father is not named on the certificate and the parents were not married he has no rights at all and his consent is not required, for UK purposes.

If you want to clarify this phone the Special Branch National Ports Controller at Heathrow via the Scotland Yard switch board. 020-7230-1212. They will give you the current information. I did that job for 5 years.

Ok guys thanks very much!

I got that the wrong way round. I did mean it as you stated, if the child was born after Dec 2003. My son was.

I'm just going to go ahead and get the letter. One less thing to worry about right?

Cheers!

Do any of you guys know what the procedure is if i'm bringing my son with me. Me and his father were never married but he is named on the birth certificate.

He's totally fine with us going and won't be a problem as he wants us to be happy.

Do you think the Embassy will still require a notarised document/letter?

Hi.

I'm a new filer so I'll have a long wait before my medical exam.

The thing I'm worried about is that i have a history of high blood pressure for which i am on medication.

I'm also just a tad overweight although it doesn't show and most people dont believe me when i tell them.

Will either of these factors be a problem for me?

I mean i can do something about the extra weight from now on but the high blood pressure is something i may have to live with although the medication will help.

I'm so worried already and i doubt my interview will be until at least September 2008.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hey!

Sorry to be a pest but I have looked up on here and the Embassy website with regards to which jabs I will need.

It makes no sense to me and the list on the medical leaflet is way too long and extremely scary looking. wacko.gif

I am ermm (whisper) 40 now!

So from what I've read I will not need the HPV. Is that right?

The nurse at my surgery today told me that all the Diptheria, Tetanus etc on the list is just one jab. wacko.gif

Will I need to have both the Hep B and Hep A jabs?

Sorry. I just dont want to overdo it if it's not necessary.

Any help as always greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ok. Well me and my son (5 years old) had our medicals today.

It was painless except for the blood taking. Ouch!!

My son only had the once over with regards to weight, height, etc. He found it absolutely hilarious that the doctor asked him to flash his winkle quickly just to establish he is a boy. rofl.gif He was confused as I have to keep telling him to put it away at home when he runs out the bath naked.

He spent the rest of the time waiting for me in the office with the receptionists working (according to him that is).

Had to take my xray twice wacko.gif Was worried they found something. They had. They found my large boobs had got in the way. so he had to redo them. whistling.gif

Had a really nice gentleman doctor and a friendly nurse who happened to be from my area. lol

He did notice my blood pressure was up, but as I'm on medication for it he didn't see any problems at all. Here's hoping.

Opted to have the couple of jabs I need doing at my own GP and was advised to bring the vaccination history to the embassy for my interview.

All in all not bad. Just waiting on the results. Hopefully I dont hear from them as no news is good news.

United KingdomInterview Question
Hi.

Sorry to be a pest but I now have my interview date scheduled for June 10th.

The thing is that although we placed my daughter on our initial application as it stated to name all children under 21 years of age, she will not, all things going well of course, be going over with me and my son.

On the packet 3 forms, I put her name on them but also stated in whichever question it was, that she would not be following at a later date.

She's almost 18 and has decided to just come over and visit on the VWP whenever she can, due to work and college committments.

My problem now is that her name is still on my Packet 4 document.

She did not have a medical with us, so my question is, do I merely just not bring her with me to the interview and inform them that she will not be joining us, or should I contact the Embassy prior and inform them? unsure.gif

Any help as always appreciated.

thanks!
