US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 February 2013 Filers

Hi again guys!

Told you I'd be back. lol

I have posted this question elsewhere, but you lot have always been so helpful.

Okay so as I'm not travelling anytime soon, or at least until Christmas I wondered if I could put off applying for my passport for a few weeks?

The thing is my son is travelling in June back to London, and I know I have to expedite his application with my naturalization certificate which I am planning on doing tomorrow.

Do you think there will be an issue with me applying for his without mine? We are moving house at the moment and applying for a passport is the furthest thing away from my mind. Of course I'm excited to get one, but do I need to asap?

Can I apply for my 10-year old son's first?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Just a quick update....got a second email today...saying I have been scheduled for the Oath ceremony so I will know the date as soon as I get the letter in the mail. I'm so happy it's moving fast. I'll be glad to get this all over and done with. Although I will be back on here to check on everyone that started this journey with us! goofy.gif

Thanks for the good luck wishes. You guys are so cool!

Well just had my interview. Which started off really really bad! lol

I received a 'yellow' letter stating I had to bring my state issued ID....drivers license with me, so me being a woman of many handbags, guess what I did? Yep! Left my purse with all my I.Ds in my workout bag. Duh!

Thankfully they still interviewed me as I had a copy of my tax return transcript which showed I was an Indiana resident. Phew!

The lady who interviewed me was very welcoming. She introduced herself, explained what would happen, and went straight into the questions.

Name one right only for US Citizens - vote in a federal election
How many State Senators are there - 100
What is the river on the East coast called - Atlantic
When was the Constitution written - 1787 (almost said 1786 and she gave me the.....look)...
What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution - The Bill of Rights
What is freedom of religion - you can practice any religion, or not practice a religion.

That was it. Signed some documents, signed the two passport pictures she had with her.

She explained she submitted my case for approval and I will hear from them soon regarding a date for the Oath ceremony.

My hubby paid $4.00 for 3 hours of parking, and I was out before he got up to the waiting area. He had to go get cash out as I had of course forgotten my purse so I went in ahead of him.

Almost done! Couldn't have completed this journey without everyone on here!

Hmmm!? I just got another email saying that I have been scheduled for an interview also dated March 19. So hopefully I'll get a letter with a date.

I guess it's time to study the book and CD...on top of my five classes this semester. Should be interesting.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the updating Calypso.

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I've been on here.

We sent off my N-400 today.

Actually excited to start this journey, unlike the other nerve-wrecking ones.

I am terrible at using the 'update' thing so if possible could someone please add me?

Thank you!

Sorry forgot to mention we sent it to Arizona!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionK2 Child included on K1 parent i-751

I just wanted to share the fact that I was in the same position as you with regards to my son not having biometrics done at the same time as I had them done.

I contacted the office just to make sure that it was not necessary although a fee is paid for the child.

The initial person I spoke to on the phone was obviously clueless as she told me that he would need to have them done and his appointment letter was lost in the mail.

However, I received this email today from the USCIS which clarified the fact that children under 14 do not need to have biometrics done although a fee of $85 is charged.

The status of this service request is:

The required biometrics for your son's Permanent Resident Card were successfully scanned from his I-485 material. Therefore, an appointment at the ASC is not necessary. Your son's card is currently in production. You should receive the card within 45 days.

Hope this helps!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 Application Part 5 List All Your Children

Hi Everyone,

I am about to file our I-751 for Removal of Conditions. I was previously married and had a daughter before I met my husband who is the LPR. My husband has not adopted my daughter because my ex still has some contact with her and we can't take him off the birth certificate until he has had 1 year without any contact. So my question would be, on part 5 of the I-751 application where it asks to list all your children, would I list her even though she is not the LPR's biological child?

My husband and I do not have any children together.

Thanks for the help!

Amanda (L)

Hi Amanda!

I listed all our children.

My husband and myself have 3 each even though my our two eldest daughters still live in London.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionK2 Children and Biometrics

Hi all!

I just wanted to clear up some confusion that I myself, and I'm sure a few others had with regards to biometrics for K2 children when removing conditions.

What I have since discovered is that although the $85 filing fee for biometrics is taken for children under 14, they do not have to have biometrics redone.

This was the email I received from USCIS today much to my relief as I thought I would have to wait longer for an appointment for my son.

Hope this helps anyone that may have been as confused as I was.

Good luck everyone!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow much is the fee for me and my daughter to REMOVE CONDITIONS

Instructions from USCIS site regarding to filing fee:

Filing Fee :
$505. (Add $85 biometric fee for a total of $590, where applicable. See the form instructions for payment details.)

Special Instructions :

Note on Filing Fee: Please include the base petition fee plus $85 biometric services fee for all conditional resident applicants. Each conditional resident child listed under Part 5 of this form who is a dependent seeking to remove their conditional status, is required to submit an additional biometric services fee of $85, regardless of age

http://www.uscis.gov/i-751

OP and the following post wanted to know how much they have to pay for the dependent included in the same petition with the principal applicant.

* Main applicant fee: $590 ($505 filing fee and $85 Bio fee)

* Dependent included in the application and seeking to remove conditions: $85 (just pay for Bio fee not for filing fee).

Total to pay for both (main applicant and dependent included in the same petition): $590 + $85 = $ 675

Yeah! My bad!

I guess I've sent them so much money I forget!

Actually I think it was because we sent separate checks and I just remember the $590.

Good looking out!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow much is the fee for me and my daughter to REMOVE CONDITIONS
Hi Guys!

Unless the fee has gone up since I file in February......You only need to add an extra $85 for the child.

I filed for both myself and my son with no problems!

However, my 8 year old son did not have a biometrics appointment which surprised me, but I was informed that although we pay a fee it is not necessary for the child to have their biometrics retaken and his new GC was issued with his first pic.

Hope that helps! I'm not sure it was $675 though. I believe it was more like $590!

Good Luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPunch holes on the I-751 form
I used a two hole punch and punched holes in the top of everything.

It states on the USCIS website that this would be helpful for them, so I figured it would earn me some brownie points.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPassport Name Change
Hi guys!

I have a question I hope you can help me answer.

I am travelling to London in December and my passport is still in my maiden name. The thing is, my passport expires next July, and in that time I will be applying for citizenship, so I don't really want to renew my British passport and then have to change it again when I get my citizenship!

Will I still be able to travel with my passport if I carry a copy of my marriage certificate with me or will I have to change the details?

As always any help will be greatly appreciated!

I have been trying to find out how much the charge is for the courier, also does it cost more if you have more then one visa coming back. I have my K1 visa and 3 k3 visa's (providing they are granted at interview!)  so will they charge me 4 times over or is it just one flat rate?!
