i heard you can use a baptismal record......

I have also heard that the baptismal record is acceptable, but you should definitely call the consulate and inquire about your options.

Mike and Jennie - When I first came on board to VJ, I took a look at the same data for the Phil. The Manila Embassy has a brutal waiting period / completion timeline for obtaining a visa. Hopefully 2007 will be an even better year for those who come along after us. Pick up an old hobby and get a new one while this process moves along. Cheers and good luck!

I have not seen too many success stories calling a service center, or the USCIS "idiotline".

The suspense is killing us slowly. Our physical package case has been at the Manila Embassy since 08Aug06 and we must wait at least another week or two more for them to issue us an interview date.

devilette - I agree! What I meant is that we are afforded the liberty to visit our loved ones. However, having the means is an entirely different story. Trust me! I understand because it cost about the same for me to fly (and that does not include the other expenses). I feel like ok... I’m American… I chose a mate... let's matriculate her so we can be together…. Why is that so difficult and takes so long????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's up with the K1 process...
It is very easy for us to go and visit our beloved ones during this process but it's very heartbreaking to leave them (at least that's how I feel). I just don’t buy into the length of time it takes to complete the process in the name of “National Security.” On a side note, I wonder what the divorce rate is for USCs who marry foreign nationals. If the rate is significantly lower, maybe the government show impose some type of delayed gratification when USCs want to get married, and impose that in the name of "Family Values." I'm just venting because I want and need her here with me ASAP.

kitkat1 - Well one thing is for sure, if you are a military person (and this is NOT a knock against the military), USCIS does have some clue of how to expedite a petition. There is a K1 case that I stumbled across with infamously long Manila Embassy (120 - 150 day wait for an interview) with an unpresidented 75 day completion from petition to interview in 2005. Mind you that K1s through the Manila Embassy average more than twice that amount of time.

ALL - Should employers have the option of paying $1000 for an expedited process? Whether it's really expedited or not isn't my thing? I guess that one could also argue why don't citizens receive the same tax breaks as corporations? Maybe it's all relative and we are caught up in the midst of our own misery that nobody but us seems to care about.

I just wish someone with influence at least listened and investigate. Do something!!!

Again... just my thoughts...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's up with the K1 process...
LuvLife - LOL! If that were to happen, I'm sure the divorce rate would dramatically decrease and/or fellow USCs would not get married. For some odd reason, because our marriages (or future marriages) involve immigration, somehow it's OK to put us through the inconvenience of an extremely slow bureaucratic process in the name of "national security." Where do we draw the line between reasonability and security? Evidently nobody with any influence really cares, but what’s new. Our problems don’t effect them enough to make a difference.

Does anyone remember if one of the hijackers from 9/11 came over on a marriage visa? If so, do you feel that with technology and the intelligence agencies that we should still have long delays in the process? Does the ends justify the means and/or can the system be more efficient and secure to satify National Security and our personal preferences in regards to the immigration process. I'm not sure but it's something to think about. The only thing I do know is that I wish this process were a HELL of a lot FASTER!
Sheriff UlingMalePhilippines2006-08-23 10:35:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's up with the K1 process...
This process goes against the essence of the "American Dream"... which is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in which we are trumped by “National Security.” There has to be another way to satisfy both. If you research the results of the K1 process before 9/11, our beloved ones would be in our arms permanently anywhere from 90 – 120 days. Now that’s NOT even the average for a NOA2, which is approximately 120 – 180 days. Where have those days of expedited approvals gone? Why did the government elect to extend the process? Where are the added security measures to justify the delays? Will the transfer of responsibilities and specialization of Service Centers make a difference in the long run? My questions are rhetorical but it’s a very sad state of affairs. I know that I don’t have room to complain because my beloved and I have greatly benefited from the chaos of the IMBRA compliance. However, I live the frustration and despair everyday thru the challenges of others in which I sincerely empathize with every one of you. This process truly test boundaries that I'd rather not explore again, and there is no consolation except the reunion with our beloved ones. I wish us all great success and I pray for a resolution to this problem in the future.

Just sharing my thoughts...

AndyMisiu - Glad to see you back even just for a cameo shot! Nice post. I wish the process was somewhat normalized between VSC and CSC being they are government agencies processing the same type of petitions (meaning K1). I believe that is what possibly get's under people's skin along with a few other choice problems at CSC. Yes, the recalls of folks already approved was the most callus act that I have seen in a long time from a government agency initiating a process and made absolutely no sense, in my opinion. It's hard for me and I'm presuming many others to separate their emotions from this community that we have trusted ourselves into. It's like a fellowship... and I fell like I have a bond of friendship with a few of the good folks here on VJ. Well that's enough for now... Cheers!!!

At least the trolls subject line was entertaining... bothersome... insensitive... obnoxious... but hilariously ridiculous. It was so over the top that I had to laugh. Even the VJ ID was funny and very suspect.

mrc - Please ignore it... That's what it wants... to fuel the flames with hate and chaos... we're all dealing with enough... It will soon wither away in the darkness of solitude... You have more class than it does...

The good folks who are approved had nothing to do with the expeditiousness of their petition and should not feel as if they have to cater to those who have not been approved. PERIOD! They have done nothing wrong. Like I stated earlier, as long as they don’t gloat and put others down, it’s all good. If they choose to share, great, I want to celebrate and congratulate with all of you. For some, this will be an extremely memorable experience, but for others, a freakin nightmare that seems to never end. Who knows... My case may go straight to hell but I'm not going to be pissed at the next couple like the Grinch who stole Christmas. I really feel for all of you that are suffering. It’s torture. Hell, I’ve got it good and I’m still bothered. So, I can’t imagine what you all are going through, but I SWEAR that I feel for you. I’m pulling for you!

...We should celebrate in their happiness, if you chose to of course. However, I am not going to feel pigeon holed into not sharing my joy. "#######" is with that. Not smearing those who are waiting... We [They] are personally not to blame for how screwed up this process is...

For most of us, we will only go through this process ONCE and it's a joyous occasion. I feel as if those who are approved should not have to cover their joy. We should celebrate in their happiness, if you chose to of course. However, I am not going to feel pigeon holed into not sharing my joy. "#######" is with that. Not smearing those who are waiting, but this is a community of folks with a similar and common goal. We are personally not to blame for how screwed up this process is... PERIOD!!! So whether it's venting, joyous, or whatever... let freedom ring, as long as it's not gloating and putting others down.

mrc - It's OK! Vent away... PLEASE!!! Honestly, I see this as therapy. I'm fortunate to have found VJ. I'd probably be locked up in a little white padded room if I did not have an outlet. LOL! The extremely quick petition approvals from VSC are the way the process should be, in my opinion. Not to offend those still waiting and holding on... Honestly, I really wish all of your receive your NOA2 because I want to celebrate with you. I am the last to complain because I have benefited from the IMBRA compliance. I say vent vent vent and continue to search for ways to take action in order to advance your situation. There is nothing natural about being separated from your loved one. I don’t know about any of you, but life for me does not begin until my Baby is here with me. Cheers!!!
