US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy APPROVED sticker

I was curious about this also, because according to Gie the consul gave her a pink and white approved sticker. The interview was very easy for her, and the consul was very friendly and gave her a big congratulations when it was over. Hopefully, it just means they need to buy more green and white stickers, hahaha.

LOL! I guess it's just best to ask at the end... to be sure! Like... "Excuse me! Am I approved?" LOL! Cheers!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWho's bought a plane ticket before visa received?

...If you can easily reschedule and it isn't too expensive, then that would help your decision...

Absolutely! We bought our ticket at a very really good price and the re-booking fee is nominal in the event that something does change. Therefore it was an easy decision to make. However, this decision is truly a judgment call like having your future spouse to quit their job(s) or sell their belongings. However, the US Embassy suggests that you hold off on any permanent or life altering changes until all actions surrounding your visa are finalized, which includes the delivery of the visa (as you already know). US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Denied in Ciudad Juarez

Just a thought.
Could you marry in Antigua? These marriages are recognized by the US?
Then you could file the I-130 for a family member? Beats waiting the additional 2 yrs to be clean?

What happens when he must answer the dreaded question of... Have you ever applied for a visa before?

Sorry to know about your situation.

Even though my fiance doesn't have any negative marks on her record. I told my fiance ahead of time... NEVER ADMIT TO ANYTHING ILLEGAL! PERIOD! It's like when the officer says, "Do you know how fast you were going?" Hell nahn, I wasn't looking at the freakin speedometer. LOL!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMore Waiting for Manila Interview for Fiance Visa
It took around two months for us to receive our interview date, which drove me absolutely crazy. Unfortunately, the interview dates for the Manila Embassy are not scheduled out further than three months. I felt a lot more at ease once we had a date. For us, having a date meant a milestone and a point in time for us to focus on being together again. Hopefully you will find comfort and a sense of tranquility when your date is set. I can’t write hang in there because that’s really hard to do, but I do feel for you...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVaccinations there or here ?

Seems strange since USCIS clearly indicates that by law, vaccinations are not required for K1 visas.

In any event, there are plenty of civil surgeons in the US - there's no reason you would need to pay $500 but it does make sense to compare the cost at the medical vs. where you will live in the US.

I somewhat beg to differ because even though vaccinations are not required for K1 visas, they are required for the AOS. Although I am sure that you may find a civil surgeon in the US who will charge less than $500, I'm betting that you could get in done for cheaper in your native country. If have time, call around and do some research before making a decision. Cheers!!! - Sheriff Uling

Right - the fact that vaccinations are required for AOS in the US has already been made clear in this thread. The fact that the Ghana consulate believes they have the authority to override US law is what I was questioning. Costs of vaccinations differ greatly, obviously. In Mexico, for example, it does not matter if you have vaccinations done by a local doctor and show the list at the medical exam. They will still require duplicate vaccinations (read = money directly in their pocket) and they are very expensive. After making phone calls to local civil surgeons, I found one in my city in the US who will do everything for my fiance for less than $200 - significantly less than the medical clinic in Mexico. Hence my advice to compare the cost at the medical vs. where you will live in the US.

Very cool... Thanks!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affidavit of Support Question
alameda

I concur with Yodrak! The receipt date on your NOA1 is what I used on my I-134 and appears to be the most appropriate because that is when USCIS officially recorded the receipt of the petition.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

alameda,

You will want the information on the I-134 to be current at the time of the interview, in agreement with the other financial documentation that you will provide.

Receipt Date would be the most appropriate - that's the date that the CIS considers the petition to have been submitted.

Yodrak

Hi, our petition already forward to the conlulate, however, my fiandee dosen't receive the package3 yet.
I just want to prepare the I-134 in advance. How long is the I-134 valid? Also, the question 10("Date Submitted")on the I-134,which date should I put in? Received Date or Notice Date on the NOA1?
Thank you.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCFO Taken

Yes she has her passport already..that why i dont understand why the nun said she didnt need to take the seminar agin..just to bring back the visa after the interview and they would stamp it with the sticker so she could fly back to the US with me..i dont know what to think now..if she didnt pass they would have told her right?.her dad also accompanied the seminar with her..what do you think?..is she ok?
Thanks,
Keith&Irish Forever

Well, at worst case, she should have a receipt for the charge which could be used to verify that she at least attended, but I'm hoping that everything will be OK. You can actually call them to get the story from them. I have called everyone... CFO... PRISM... SLEC... USE... HOTELS... and the whole nine yards because I want the story straight from them to clear up any confusion.

Hi,
My fiancee took her CFO seminar yesterday and after the one on one the nun who she said was very nice to her told her she needs to take he interview and then bring back the visa and they will stamp it so she can travel back to the US with me. But she didt get the certificate as the nun explained to her she will get that after she brings back the visa..has anyone else had this happen? I thought it was strange and she was supposed to get the certificate and after she brings her visa in w/ the certificate they would stamp it..the nun told her she had passed and she would recieve the stamp after the interview and brings the visa..anyone have any advice on that?
Thanks,
Keith& Irish Forever

According to the CFO website, the Guidance and Consuling Certificate is issued at the completion of the session. Please reference my signature below.

I sent the originals to [Jhen] of all documents I included in the petition, one being my birth certificate. They didn't ask for any of them but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Ditto! It's not required but it's better to be over-prepared than under-prepared because in this game it can cost you a lot of time and energy. I recommend providing an original BC just in case.
