Phil-Am K1 Information…

Pre NOA2

(K1 Introduction) - If you are just starting your K1 visa journey, please check out this information provided by the Department of State (DOS) on the K1 visa experience (CLICK HERE). I found this information very insightful when I first started. Please note that the “How to Apply for a Social Security Number Card” section is incorrect because K1 visa beneficiaries can only apply for a SSN card upon arriving into the United States. Please also review VJ's K1 guide (CLICK HERE)

(Case Status) - Once you have filed your case and received your case number, please register on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website using the Case Status Online Tool to receive emailed updates concerning your case (CLICK HERE). NOTE: If you want emails to multiple addresses then you must create multiple customer portfolio accounts. When you receive your petition approval (NOA2), this tool is of no further use to you until after the beneficiary arrives in the states, get’s married, applies for the Adjustment of Status (AOS), Employment Authorization Document, (EAD), and/or Advance Parole (AP) because this tool does not track the activity being performed at the National Visa Center (NVC) or the Manila Embassy.

Post NOA2

(1). The National Visa Center (NVC) number is within my signature. NVC assigns your case number once your case is approved (NOA2). They also may perform a preliminary background check from what I’ve read then forwards your package/case to the Manila Embassy. This process usually takes anywhere from 14 – 30 days.

(2). The Manila Embassy (USE) Packet 4, the phone number, a visa interview testimony, along with a sample Appointment Letter are within my signature block. NOTE: Packet 4 can be acquired from the Manila Embassy website which gives directions on what documents are required by the beneficiary for the visa interview. Starting 01 November 2006, ALL nonimmigrant visa applicants must use the online Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) to complete the DS-156 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application). To date, only the DS-156 has the barcode (on the first and last page) and is the ONLY form available online at http://evisaforms.state.gov. You may complete the DS-156K (Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application) and the DS-157 (Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application) (this is the form the bank validates when you pay the visa application fee) via the computer, type-writer, or handwritten. Hopefully the Manila Embassy will update their packet 4 information to clearly indicate the instructions. If you need to call the Manila Embassy, dial 0 for the operator, and ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit. The average interview appointment is assigned approximately 100 – 150 days from the receipt of your package from the NVC. Beneficiaries are now sent a letter of receipt from the USE once their physical files are received. However, this is NOT Packet 3 because the Manila Embassy ONLY issues Packet 4, and the letter of receipt is not always sent to the beneficiaries. Please also check out this instructional visa interview information (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl)

(3).The Department of State (DOS) number is within my signature. After your case is approved (NOA2) and reaches the Manila Embassy, you may call DOS instead on the Manila Embassy to obtain status of your case and make inquiries concerning your interview date. NOTE: DOS has no direct participation in the K1 process.

(4). The Visa Interview Appointments website is within my signature. This is where you can check to see if a visa interview has been scheduled for your case. NOTE: Please do NOT press enter after you enter your case number because that will not yield you a result. Please click on the Check Appointment tab. If your appointment has been set then you, will see your Case Number, Visa Classification, St. Luke’s appointment Date, and Embassy Appointment Date, but if you case has not been assigned yet, your result will be Case Number Not Found on Appointment List.

(5). St. Luke’s Extension Clinic (SLEC) information is within my signature. SLEC is where the beneficiary goes to take the medical exam and vaccination. The process takes two days. Day 1 is the medical exam and Day 2 is the vaccination. If the Manila Embassy does not mail the beneficiary the K1 Visa Packet and Appointment Letter, then you may call SLEC to arrange to pick them up at SLEC.

(6). The DELBROS website is within my signature. DELBROS is the company responsible for delivering the beneficiary’s Visa and POE information. The DELBROS delivery fee is paid subsequent to the beneficiary’s visa interview at the Manila Embassy. Per the Manila Embassy website, the current delivery fee/time is as follows:

* Metro Manila Areas, 135 Philippine Pesos, Delivered one (1) to three (3) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier
* Provincial Key Cities (ex. Cebu City, Davao City, etc.) 165 Philippine Pesos; Delivered three (3) to five (5) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier
* Outside Provincial Key Cities, (ex. Capiz, Leyte, Bukidnon, etc.), Cost depends on area/location, Delivered five (5) to seven (7) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

NOTE: Per the DELBROS staff, the Manila Embassy can take as much as three (3) business days to release the visa and POE package, which is NOT included in the deliver times above. You may also call the Manila Embassy, dial 0 for the operator, and ask for Delbros, after the visa is approve, to acquire about the status of your visa delivery.

(7). CFO Guidance and Counseling Seminars are held in Manila and Cebu, with the corresponding links within my signature. The beneficiary may attend whichever location is more convenient. "Per Republic Act 8239 and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Order 28-94, Filipinos proceeding abroad as fiancé(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling programs... " For more info (CLICK HERE). NOTE: As far as I know, this requirement is not stated within the K1 packet. However, the beneficiary can NOT travel without receiving the Guidance and Counseling Certificate and subsequent CFO stamp on the visa. Please check out this instructional information on the CFO experience (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl)

(8). The I-94 Arrival / Departure Form is within my signature. Foreigners (beneficiaries) complete the I-94 and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer stamps the applicant’s visa and the arrival and departure portions of the I-94 at the Port of Entry (POE) when entering the States. The CBP Officer will keep the arrival portion and staple the departure portion of the I-94 to your visa where they stamped the beneficiaries arrival date. You will need this for the Adjustment of Status process. NOTE: Even though it’s simple, I have supplied this so you will know what it looks like and what is required to be filled out.

Cheers!!!

I'm a little confused here. Has the instructions in the packet changed? The pdf packet file on VJ clearly indicates in item 1. The DS-156 is the form that the bank validates your payment on. Is this now incorrect? Also it is advisable to obtain a seperate receipt from the bank for your own records.

I'm not sure where you read on VJ that the DS-156 is the form that is validated because that is completely NOT correct. So let's inform whoever is the creator of the pdf file you are referencing. The bank validates the DS-157 and NOT the DS-156. The bank does issue a seperate receipt (it's a gay looking pink receipt... LOL!) in addition to the validation on the rear of the DS-157 form. Sorry that you obtain some misleading information, but I assure you that the bank validates the DS-157 form only.

Cheers!!!

I know I have seen a list of hotels close to the USE, but I can't find it now that I need it. Can anyone please give me a nice safe hotel very close to the USE? I need it ASAP (tonight). Thanks.

I think Bayview is right across street from USE.

My wife stayed at Bayview and our experience was good...

There are some rumors that the bank may not agree to validate your filled-up DS157 form and may insist on giving you a blank validated DS157 form. Not sure if this is all BPI branches or just some, or why they might be doing this.

Very true! It depends on the bank, the teller, and/or the manager on duty. In our case, the BPI branch in Calamba would NOT validate our completed DS-157, but I have read cases where BPI branches have validated the beneficiaries DS-157 form. There is no consistency in the cooperation of the bank whether they are willing to validate your completed form verses what they have in house. Please call the bank in which you want to pay your visa application fee to verify if they are willing to validate your completed DS-157 form. Cheers!!!

Phil-Am K1 Information…
I'm almost ready to go final with this...

Pre NOA2

(K1 Introduction) - If you are just starting your K1 visa journey, please check out this information provided by the Department of State (DOS) on the K1 visa experience (CLICK HERE). I found this information very insightful when I first started. Please note that the “How to Apply for a Social Security Number Card” section is INCORRECT because K1 visa beneficiaries may ONLY apply for a SSN card upon arriving into the United States.

NOTE: If you want emailed updates to multiple addresses then you must create multiple customer portfolio accounts. When your petition is approval (NOA2), this tool is of no further use to you until after the beneficiary arrives in the states, get’s married, applies for the Adjustment of Status (AOS), Employment Authorization Document, (EAD), and/or Advance Parole (AP) because this tool does not track the activity being performed at the National Visa Center (NVC) or the Manila Embassy.

Post NOA2

However, the USE is now including the form DS-156 with the barcodes as part of Packet 4. You may complete the DS-156K (Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application), and the DS-157 (Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application) (The bank validates DS-157 form when you pay the visa application fee. The Packet 4 that is available in my signature is modified to read that the DS-157 is validated by the banks upon payment of the visa application fee. Unfortunately, the Packet 4 issued by the USE INCORRECTLY states that the DS-156 is validated by the banks upon paying the visa application fee) and the I-134 (Affidavit of Support) via the computer, type-writer, or handwritten. See the Most Frequently Asked Questions for the K1 visa forms (CLICK HERE). If you need to call the USE, dial 0 for the operator, and ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit. The average interview appointment is assigned approximately 100 – 150 days from the receipt of your package from the NVC. Beneficiaries are now sent a letter of receipt (CLICK HERE) (Thx PW and GaryC) accompanied by a document preparation letter (CLICK HERE) (Thx PW and GaryC) from the USE once their physical files are received by the USE. However, this is NOT Packet 3 because the USE ONLY issues Packet 4, and the letter of receipt is not always sent to the beneficiaries. Be advised that the pre-screeners and some of the USE staff are not always very friendly or hospitable. Please review this instructional visa interview information (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl).

(4). The Visa Interview Appointments website is within my signature (the beneficiary's interview appointment and medical exam will be scheduled by the USE). NOTE: Please do NOT press enter after the case number is entered because that will not yield a result. Please click on the "Check Appointment" tab. If the appointments have been scheduled, the following will be available: Case Number, Visa Classification, St. Luke’s appointment Date, and Embassy Appointment Date, but if the appointments are NOT scheduled yet, the result will be "Case Number Not Found on Appointment List."

(5). St. Luke’s Extension Clinic (SLEC) information is within my signature. SLEC is where the beneficiary goes to take the medical exam and vaccination. The process takes two days: Day 1 is the medical exam (the beneficiary's passport will be taken and sent to the USE along with the medical exam results) and; Day 2 is the vaccination (the beneficiary will be given the x-ray film and the vaccination worksheet/record). NOTE: If the Manila Embassy does not mail the beneficiary the K1 Visa Packet 4 and the Appointment Letter, then call SLEC in order to pick them up at SLEC and take a copy of the NOA2, a copy of the NVC letter (a.k.a. Bureau of Consular Affairs (BCA) letter) (which should have the beneficiary's Manila case number on it), and a print-out of the scheduled appointment dates from the Visa Interview Appointments website. Be advised, the beneficiary's medical exam will be scheduled one week before the visa interview by the USE. Per the Manila Embassy Thread, we recommend that the beneficiary takes the medical exam anywhere from 2 weeks to a month before the interview to ensure the results are available for the Consular Officer and to prepare in the unfortunate event of unfavorable medical results. If the medical exam is taken anytime over a month before the visa interview, there is a risk that the results could be invalid, which means the beneficiary will have to take another medical exam before the visa can be approved. The beneficiary may reschedule the medical exam appointment with SLEC after the medical exam and visa interview dates are assigned by calling SLEC. Please don't forget to bring your passport, appointment letter (if received), passport photos (the size of the photos should be 2 inches by 2 inches [see Packet 4, page 8]), and the medical exam fee to your appointment. The beneficiary also needs to have the sponsors contact information (address, phone number, and ssn #) for the SLEC forms.

(7). Beneficiaries are required to attend a CFO Guidance and Counseling Seminar that are held in Manila and Cebu, whichever is more convenient, before traveling abroad (the corresponding links within my signature). Attending the CFO Guidance and Counseling Seminar is a Philippine government requirement which states, "Per Republic Act 8239 and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Order 28-94, Filipinos proceeding abroad as fiancé(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling programs... " For more info (CLICK HERE). NOTE: The CFO Guidance and Couseling Seminar is not stated as a requirement within the Packet 4 instructions. However, after the visa is approved, instructions on attending the CFO Guidance and Counseling seminar are included in the visa and Port of Entry (POE) package received by the beneficiary. If the beneficiary takes the seminar before receiving the visa, then the beneficiary will have to return to the CFO in order to receive the CFO sticker anytime after the visa is received. Travel abroad is prohibited without the CFO sticker within the beneficiary's passport (the visa is within the passport). Please check out this instructional information on the PRISM Guidance and Counceling Seminar experience (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl).

(8). The I-94 Arrival / Departure Record form is within my signature. Hi! This is Jinky! :D We arrived in LAX, Friday, March 2nd and made it through immigration after about 30 minutes. The immigration officer looked very strict and he asked me where is Job's father. I asked him to repeat himself and then he asked if I was married to Job's father. So I just answered him, NO. Before I left, he told me if I don't want to get married that I can always go back to the Philippines...bwahahahaha. He only looked strict but he was okay - he even said, Welcome. So, after that we got our luggage. They didn't even ask for the x-rays.

I'm with my Steven now and he took us to an asian market on Saturday where I found so many home products - kangkong, calderita mix, chicken feet, and Filipino foods. I even bought Datu Puti vinegar...hehehe.

At the back of our churches weekly announcements, I found 3 Filipino dentists in our area. The church we go to has a community of Filipino's and Vietnamese.

I'll keep you all updated to a new life here!

Welcome to sunny and beautiful California. I can't wait until you get settled in so we can hang out with you... YEAH!!!

You changed or deleted the two files (letter of receipt and document preparation letter) that you posted for PW in order for me to reference them in the Phil-Am K1 Information in your photobucket account.

HELP!!!

NOTE: I would have posted them myself using my VJ account but I don't have enough room to do so...

Sheriff, Question about the SS-5 for the SSAN application... Block 3, I assume K-1/3 unless you received an EAD at the POE will check Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work???? In the directions it ask for proof of the Alien status to be sent with the aplication. Di you send in the K1 Visa (with passport) or just a copy of the I-194? I hope I am not the only one that could not figure this out  ... Ken & Maria

Well, my wife (then fiancee) applied for her SSN two weeks after she arrived (maiden name). It took one week for her to receive her SS card. She applied for her SS card after we were married and it arrived in about five days. Conversely, my wife's friend who applied for her SS card after she was married has been waiting for three weeks now and still does not have her card. This may either be a coincidence or what I call blind irony. The only problem is the SSN, at least here in California, is not given at the point the beneficiary applies. SS cards are free of charge so the only thing that is spent is time in applying. Either way, your beloved will eventually receive her SS card. Just make sure that you get it done before the I-94 expires or your wife will have to wait until the AOS is approve to have the SS card updated to her married name.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

Yes! You may check Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work. Maria's SS Card will have "Valid for work only with DHS authorization." Once Maria receives her AOS approval, re-apply for the SS card and it will be absent of that note. Cheers!!!

For anyone who has parked at LAX, how easy or difficult was it to find a parking spot that had an hourly rate?

Are there any places that you'd recommend or any places to avoid?

Thank you in advance! :star:

I found parking right away. Worse case... upper level parking is normally available. Cheers!!!

We have Visa!! Mari picked it up on Tuesday and so after a quick visit to to get the CFO stamp, she's good to go!!

It still seems unreal but she's hangin' in Manila for the next few days and leaving Friday night for San Francisco.

What a challenging experience it has been. But after some bad breaks in the first few months, things have gone very smoothly for us. Just eight little months and finally done!! Actually for us it's almost two and a half years of impatiently waiting! I needed over a year and a half to get a final divorce after being legally separated in 2004.

Soooo thanks for all the notes and our congratulations to the huge group of newly approved couples!!

To our California friends, Fel and Frank, Steven and Jinky, and Joone and Lyann, we hope to find times soon to meet with you in person before long and have another celebration dinner. Mari and my son Daniel are both dying to go to Disneyland this Summer so we will be in So Cal for sure!

And for so many other of the terrific people Mari has hooked up with, we still have our broadband and our webcam so I hope we can also stay close and continue to help each other and let friendships bloom.

Take care y'all and we'll also continue here in VJ. The immigration process is one looooong journey!

Eric and Mari

Hey...

Don't leave us out... We're in Southern Cali as well... Torrance City to be exact... We'd love to crash the party!!!

I remember reading here on VJ somewhere that it was recommend that the foreign fiancee apply for SSN before getting married because it is easier to change your name with Social Security after you've initially applied with maiden name vs. applying for it with your married name. Does anybody have any experience with this directly?

Well, my wife (then fiancee) applied for her SSN two weeks after she arrived (maiden name). It took one week for her to receive her SS card. She applied for her SS card after we were married and it arrived in about five days. on getting SSN before getting married. I think I remember someone recommending on another forum that since your fiancee's name is in the database from the I-94 or visa in her maiden name.

You are absolutely correct. Upon entering the US, the beneficiary's information is enter into a database at the POE. So if the beneficiary goes to the SSA to apply for their SSN, their name and information must match. That's why it's imperative to ensure the visa is correct before leaving the Phil. However, I'm not sure. We took the route that we knew would give us the least resistence. We applied for the SSN under Jhen's maiden (before getting married and 10 days after arriving to ensure the system would be updated with her information). Then we returned to re-apply under her married name and received a new card. OK! Now I remember what happend with those folks who were forced to apply for their SSN under their maiden names after being married. The waited until after the I-94 expired. So if you wait until the I-94 expires, the only way to change the name on the beneficiary's SSN card is after the AOS is approved. They SSA application does ask for your name then other names used in which could be done after a couple is married, which means of course that the couple would bring ID's and the marriage certificate (is does NOT have to be the certified copy) (BENEFICIARIES PLEASE APPLY FOR YOUR SSN BEFORE THE I-94 EXPIRES OR YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE NAME ON YOUR SSN CARD TO YOUR MARRIED NAME UNTIL AFTER THE AOS IS APPROVED, WHICH COULD BE UPTO A YEAR AFTER YOU ARRIVE IN THE US). Hey Sheriff! Rosemarie is already here in Florida with me. Her interview was January 25 and she arrived here on February 7. Now for us, it's AOS, etc. The waiting is over, we are together now, so if the government wants to drag the rest of the process for us the waiting is no problem..............Good luck to all with interviews this week!

Oppsss and Congrats!!! I was looking at someone else's timeline and confused them with yours. Anywho, you are golden now with the K3 you get a break from the madness. That's a beautiful thing only second to the reunion of you and your beloved Rosemarie. YEAH!

Glen and Rosemarie - Break a leg and bring us back an approval. By the by, it's cool to keep your information organized in folders. However, the USE staff is going to demand that you take the applications out from the folders. Don't be discourage by the rudeness of the people working there (of course, not everyone is rude, but enough of them to make you want to slap the taste out of their mouths... LOL). One of my Pinoy friends at work said they're jealous because they can't go to America with you, but he's crazy like that... LOL!

Erichu - Glad to see your time has come... Congrats!!!

Garya505 - I sent an original and copy of my BC to Jhen as well (Just in case). However, it's not required, but it's one of those things just to have in your back pocket (Just in case). But, I'm more than certain that you will not need the petitioner's BC. Only the beneficiary's BC is collected during the pre-interview.

"You will not need a SSN in order to get married. The married license nor the married certificate require a SSN. However, I recommend applying for the SSN anytime after 10 days after the beneficiary arrives in the US.

Hope this helps...

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling"

Yes Sheriff, it does!

It will vary from state to state. You need to do like I did and call the county clerk where you live. Just explain the situation and they will tell you what is allowed.
Luz and I decided to marry within a few days of her arrival. Just a quick civil cerimony at the court house. Then we can apply for her SSN in her married name and apply for the AOS right away. A few months later, after we have a chance to settle in we will have a big wedding at my fathers farm. (outdoor).

I will do just that Gary! Good thinking, only applying for the SSN once and in her married name. Hopefully Washington state works like that.

We plan on a small ceremony, hopefully at a local, very old Catholic Church. The larger full wedding will take place down the road, in PI with her friends and family. :D

Good luck to Luz! And to everyone interviewing February 13th, hopefully my fiancee can save everyone a little good luck from February 12th!

GaryC and Ready4one...

Don't be surprised if your wives are still required to initially apply for the SSN under their maiden names first before they are issued a SS card with their married names. That has happened to a few folks here on VJ. I am not completely sure about the rational behind that (although I do have some speculations as to why but I will save them because they are just speculations). You might want to call or stop by the SSA to inquire before going there and potentially frustrating yourselves. Just my opinion.

Cheers!!!

hi all! just need help asap about getting an SSN "before" getting married... if i applied for an SSN, what should i typically bring??? (what kind of docs/proofs)... in their application form, page 2, stated:

if you check "legal alien not allowed to work" you must provide from a US Federal, State, or local govt agency that explains why you need a SSN...

im not really sure with that statement...just confused here... and how long should i wait after applying for one...

thanks all!!!

We took:

1. SSN Application
2. Passport/Visa

That's all...

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

NOTE: The SSA requires two forms of ID from the beneficiary. So show them your passport and visa pages. By law, those are two different IDs and that is what we did. In order to play the game, you must either know the rules or get the handbook. Yeah Baby Yeah!!!

I already checked into what we have to do. If she puts her PI address down on the license we can get married without a SSN. Just show her passport and visa. If we put my address down then she would need a SSN.

Gary, really? If that is the case, and we can get married before getting her a SSN, we may do that as well. Although I see no reason to delay getting her a SS card ASAP as well.

Post NOA2

Beneficiaries are now sent a letter of receipt (CLICK HERE) (Thx PW and GaryC) accompanied by a document preparation letter (CLICK HERE) (Thx PW and GaryC) from the USE once their physical files are received. However, this is NOT Packet 3 because the USE ONLY issues Packet 4, and the letter of receipt is not always sent to the beneficiaries. Be advised that the pre-screeners and some of the USE staff are not very friendly or hospitable. Please review this instructional visa interview information (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl).

FINAL NOTE: The red text indicates the recent updates/chages. Please let me know if there are any suggestions. I have also correlated the numbers above to my signature below.

Hi,

Need further information :help: My fiancee got the notice already from USE Manila. Question about "Evidence of Bonafide relationship"...we have letters/cards/emails/phone calls/courier receipts...what about "Proof of Financial Support"? What is this? Never heard of this before  This is a seperate requirement from I-134, Affidavit of Support in the letter she received from USE. We are in process for K1 Visa. Do we need this "Proof of Financial Support? Can someone explain what is this? Thank you.

Coco Puff

Coco Puff...

The proof of financial support is the I-134 (Affidavit of Support ) form with the supporting documentation.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

Ohh  I thought I need to provide bank receipts or remittances that I am sending money to my fiancee ;) Of which I don't. It is on the same pharagraph of the proof or evidence of bonafide relationship that is why we were confused  And they have a different pharagraph for the I-134 requirement.

And ohh Sheriff, I know you told me in PM that my income itself is sufficient enough ($50,000) and all I need is letter of verification, 3 years of ITR (maybe include the current W-2 as well) and 6 months of pay stubs. And here you go again the question of the bank statement :innocent: since they include it there again as part of the requirement. Should I get one or should I not? Sorry keep on asking about this :innocent: I just want to make sure my fiancee's interview will go smoothly. Thank you once again :)

Only the self employed folks have been submitting bank statements to validate the ability to support their beneficiaries. Bank statements nor a statment from your bank indicating the date the account was opened, the total deposits over the past year, and the current balance are not required if your income is above 125% of the poverty level. However, the instructions on the I-134 do not read that way, nor does it suggest those hidden loop-holes. In fact, I personally recommend submitting a statement from the petitioner's bank, if that is an added benefit for couples. However, it's not necessary.

Cheers!!!

NOTE: The instructions for the I-134 need to be updated IMO because they do not clearly indicate the requirements.

Thank you.

The proof of financial support is the I-134 (Affidavit of Support ) form with the supporting documentation.

The PAL ticket office in Davao told Yazi to expect to pay 750p; 550p airport fee and the new security fee 200p.
I did find a way to pay the travel tax here. I know you're not suppose to be able to and everything I read said you couldn't. I booked thru LBC Travel which said they could collect the tax. I was skeptical, but the PAL ticket office in Davao said that it had been paid. all Yazi had to do is get the reduced tax certificate for her daughter which cost 200p.

Oh thanks! It's 550 PHP for the airport fee. Wow! There's a new security fee. That's crazy! What's next! A too sexy fee. Gsss!!!

I apologize if this has already been talked about before, but I'd like to know who here was able to have the beneficiary purchase their plane tickets in the Philippines?

I am hoping to have Jinky purchase her plane ticket through a travel agent the day after her interview.

I remember someone posted earlier that if your fiancee purchases the tickets, the travel agent will ask to see her Visa.

If that is the case, how are we able to purchase plan tickets far enough in advance to get the cheapest tickets available?

In our case, I purchased the plane ticket in advance thru PAL and Jhen picked it up from the Ticketing Office (where she paid the travel tax). However, she could only pick up the ticket after receipt of the visa. I am not aware of how the travel agencies handle ticket purchases in the Phil.

Cheers!!!

Thanks, Sheriff! I was hoping to save from paying the extra tax. :)

There are two unavoidable taxes. The travel tax of 1620 PHP for domestic and business flights, and the airport tax/fee of 520 PHP that is paid before the traveler reaches customs at the airport.

Jinky and her son Job flew out of Cebu this morning to Manila where she will go to St. Luke's on Thursday for her medical exam. They'll be staying in Manila until the interview on Feb. 16th! :star:

After all the preparation, we've both have tried to just think positive and not let any negative thoughts cross our minds - trusting that everything will work out fine. :star:

Almost there!

I really feel for you because there is no greater stress than this part of the process, but I'm sure that all will go well. The best is yet to come!!!

Q. What happens if her bank will not validate her form?

A. They will give you a blank form that is validated on the back. You may simply keep your completed DS-157 form and bring the blank validated form. (make copies of both for your submission to the USE)

Q. DS-157 form for her and another one for her son?

A. Yes there should be a validated DS-157 form for each visa applicant. (make copies for the USE)

Cheers!!!
