...Either use one of the immigrant visa section extensions or ask to be connected to the immigrant visa section.

Eksakto! It appears that the only extension for the Non Immigrant Visa Section is 5184, or dial 0 for the operator and ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit. The extension 5185 takes you the Social Security "department" and sometimes the operator transfers you there (LOL)!!! In my experience, if you call in between 7:30am - 7:45am then you should not have a problem catching someone in the Immigrant Visa Unit. Of course, you may have to call back a few times or continue to let the phone ring until someone answers. If you call anytime after 8:00am then you will be lucky if you catch someone in the Immigrant Visa Unit because they are constantly on the phone ALL DAY... EVERYDAY...

NOTE - I'm just piggy-backing on john_and_marlene post.

Ronmay,

US Embassy won't allow entry if one can't show an appointment (especially if one is a Filipino). Stubborn US citizens without appointment can get in by making up an excuse why they should be there.

You may also want to call the Dept of State (DOS) to get info. They should be able to tell you if your case file has been received at the embassy. Call (202) 663-1225 then press 100 to skip the recording and you wait anywhere from 5-30 minutes to get a Visa Specialist.

What's odd is that if you are Filipino with an accent calling the US Embassy, whether you are the USC or not, it's like talking to a brick wall! On the other hand, they give me the royal treatment when I call... LOL! They don't know that I'm a Negoy or I would have problems too. LOL!!! I'm still laughing over the aged-out thing. LOL!

Everyone thank you very much for your help. I wasn't sure how were were going to receive the vaccination information that is required for the AOS, and I was just curious about the medical exam results. Thanks a bunch! I'm just trying to make sure I understand as much as possible about every facet of the game. My family used to always tell me growing up to know the game... get the handbook. Well for this K1 process it's been more like know the game... go figure out the handbook. LOL!

Visa Applicants Must Use Electronic Application Form as of November 1

To speed the application process for a non-immigrant visa to the United States, the U.S. Embassy will require all visa applicants after November 1, 2006, to use an electronic application form available for free on the Internet. This form must be completed and presented to the Embassy on the date of your visa interview.

For the full story (Manila Embassy Website) - CLICK HERE

I am curious if this applies to K-1's and K-3's, which are technically non-immigrant visa's but handled by the immigrant visa section. In the last part of the posting, it seems to describe the procedures that non-immigrant visa applicants can use, like calling to schedule an appointment and visa-point that K-1's and K-3's cannot use. If this is the case, then people who have November interview dates should be provided this information in the K-packets and not blank copies of the forms.
Marilyn and Peter.

My instincts say this procedure applies to K1 and K3 visa petitions, and they will make the DS-156K and DS-157 electronic applications sometime in the future. However, I am speculating, but time will tell. I will call the Manila Embassy because I want to know (if someone beats me to this action then please ask on our behalf). I do wonder if the Manila Embassy will cease and desist in sending the DS-156 form within the visa packet and direct folks to the weblink. However, we may be expecting too much... too fast. LOL!

On the BPI validating an older version. Is the bank forcing the beneficiary to fill out the old forms that are at the bank, rather than validating a more current form that has been downloaded from wherever and brought in already filled-out?

BPI is validating an older version of the DS-157 form. For all who have not paid the K1 Visa Application Fee yet, BPI prints a receipt (validation) on the back (rear) of one (1) DS-157 in addition to giving the benificiary a receipt. I'm NOT suggesting that you do the follow, but we completed the updated form that is available on the Manila Embassy website and copied the validation on the rear of both copies that will be submitted during the interview. My fiance will take the blank DS-157 form that BPI validated as well as the reciept with her to the interview (just in case). Like I wrote earlier, I'm not suggesting that anyone do that, but I elected to go that route because I wanted to submit the most current version of the forms. Why? Because I'm #######. LOL!!! Cheers!!!

Packet 4 question?

We have not received the packet from the embassy. It has not held us back because I was able to download all of the packet files from Ulings link (Thank Uling!)

My question is should we be concerned about them not sending us the packet. I am trying to make our travel arrangements and I sure you are all aware of the hassle of making flight arrangements ahead of time. I am concerned because she has had a history of delivery problems to her address.

What travel arrangements are you making? I'm not sure its wise to be doing any travel planning until successful approval and actual delivery of the visa. As for the no packet situation, I believe that you should call the embassy and let them know that no packet has been received, and that you would prefer to pick it up at St. Lukes.

I agree. Please call the Manila Embassy and let them know. The good thing is that whether you are able to acquire an appointment letter or not... you will make it through this process just fine. Cheers!!!

That's interesting. You click the link and the electronic form available is ONLY the DS-156, but NOT the DS-156K or 157. You suppose the other two forms will be coming in electronic format a little later?

I am speculating the plan is to make the DS-156K and DS-157 accessible in the electronic format as well. This would actually save them money with reproducing the forms with updated versions. Especially with the DS-157 because BPI is validating an older version than provided on the Manila Embassy website. Cheers!!!

UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED-UPDATED

Phil-Am POST K1 NOA2 Info…

(1). The National Visa Center (NVC) number is within my signature. NVC assigns your case number once your case is approved (NOA2). They also may perform a preliminary background check from what I’ve read then forwards your package/case to the Manila Embassy. This process usually takes anywhere from 14 – 30 days.

(2). Packet 4 (Manila Embassy) link is within my signature (acquired from the Manila Embassy website which gives directions on what documents are required by the beneficiary for the visa interview). The Manila Embassy number is within my signature. NOTE: If you dial 0 for the operator, ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit. The average interview is assigned approximately 120 – 150 days from the receipt of your package from the NVC.

(3).The Department of State (DOS) number is within my signature. After your case is approved (NOA2) and reaches the Manila Embassy, you may call DOS instead on the Manila Embassy to obtain status of your case and make inquiries concerning your interview date. NOTE: DOS has no direct participation in the K1 process.

(4). The Visa Interview Appointments website is within my signature. This is where you can check to see if a visa interview has been scheduled for your case. It is presumed that the website is now the substitution for the visa appointment worksheet/list the Manila Embassy used in the past.

(5). St. Luke’s Extension Clinic (SLEC) information is within my signature. SLEC is where the beneficiary goes to take the medical exam and vaccination. The process takes two days. Day 1 is the medical exam and Day 2 is the vaccination.

(6). The DELBROS website is within my signature. DELBROS is the company responsible for delivering the beneficiary’s Visa and POE information. The DELBROS delivery fee is paid subsequent to the beneficiary’s visa interview at the Manila Embassy. Per the Manila Embassy website, the current delivery fee/time is as follows:

* Metro Manila Areas, 135 Philippine Pesos, Delivered one (1) to three (3) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier
* Provincial Key Cities (ex. Cebu City, Davao City, etc.) 165 Philippine Pesos; Delivered three (3) to five (5) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier
* Outside Provincial Key Cities, (ex. Capiz, Leyte, Bukidnon, etc.), Cost depends on area/location, Delivered five (5) to seven (7) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

NOTE: Per the DELBROS staff, the Manila Embassy normally takes three (3) business days to release the visaed passport, which is NOT included in the deliver times above.

(7). CFO Guidance and Counseling Seminars are held in Manila and Cebu, with the corresponding links within my signature. The beneficiary may attend whichever location is more convenient. "Per Republic Act 8239 and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Order 28-94, Filipinos proceeding abroad as fiancé(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling programs... " For more info (CLICK HERE). NOTE: As far as I know, this requirement is not stated within the K1 packet. However, the beneficiary can NOT travel without receiving the Guidance and Counseling Certificate and subsequent CFO stamp on the visa.

(8). The I-94 Arrival / Departure Form is within my signature. Foreigners (beneficiaries) complete the I-94 and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer stamps the applicant’s arrival and departure portions at the Port of Entry (POE) when entering the States. You will need this for the Adjustment of Status process. NOTE: Even though it’s simple, I have supplied this so you will know what it looks like and what is required to be filled out.

Cheers!!!

NOTE: Please let me know if there are any suggestions. I have also correlated the numbers above to my signature.
