PhilippinesWould passport be ok as "2nd valid id" for CFO seminar

Hi everyone. I already have my sched (Sept 10 for interview). I plan on attending CFO seminar early with someone I know within this week. I checked the website and saw the requirements, 2 valid id's for the seminar. I only have 1 valid id and that is my TIN card. I don't have a job id coz I've already quit a few months ago so that id would be invalid. I don't want to hear negative comments but I don't have SS card too! I only have the # and the paper copy since my previous job was my 1st job and I'm not familiar here in Manila so I don't know how to obtain one here. Do you think my passport would suffice as my "2nd valid id?"

what i did bring then for my identification in the CFO was my passport, my school ID, NBI... they only checked or asked fory my passport and NBI... hopefully that'll be it for you... a TIN card with pic? i believe that's a gov't issued ID, so that'll help... passport is really a main valid ID

Or SS ID...

PhilippinesMedical problem

hey bill,
did st luke's gave her the 2 sheets of vaccination copy and an xray film? then they told her that her passport and med result will be forwarded to the embassy and she can make it on tuesday? if so, she's all set  nothing to worry about med now, just let her focus on the interview. i wish you luck!

I don't know about two sheets. In any case, all sounds good from what you say.

I would say that all is good. However, like Ronmay stated, SLEC should have given your beloved 2 sheets concerning the vaccination and the x-ray film.

NOTES on the TWO SHEET: One is the DS-3025 Vaccination Supplemental, in which she absolutely needs to obtain before departing to the states. If not, you will have lots of drama attempting to convince the civil surgeon to transcribe the vaccination history on the I-693A Vaccination Supplemental. The second is the C-1 (a standard letter/form/checklist), which states at the bottom that the TD shot is unavailable in the Phil and must be administered upon arriving in the United States (this document is not required for any part of the immigration process).

Cheers!!!

PhilippinesWanna clarify about CFO and PRISM

Hi everyone. I'm being OC again so I just wanna clarify something about the CFO seminar coz I'm planning to go there tomorrow. According to the CFO website:

"The St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation-Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW) and the People's Reform Initiative for Social Mobilization Inc. (PRISM) conduct the guidance and counseling program to Filipino spouses and other partners of foreign nationals. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) issues the guidance and counseling certificate to clients who have satisfactorily completed the guidance and counseling requirements at SMEF-COW or PRISM."

Ok, so I will go to PRISM building which is across La Sall University and attend the seminar then after I complete that, I will then go to CFO in Pres. Quirino Avenue to get my certificate. Is this correct?

Per Vsmtghdy's post quoted below, you have already been informed that the certificate is recieved at the conclusion of the Guidance and Counseling Seminar and the CFO sticker is placed within the pages of the beneficiary's passport AFTER the visa has been issued. By the by, the visa is placed inside one of the pages of the beneficiary's passport by the USE after the visa request is approved by the CO and subsequently delivered to the beneficiary.

Please also reference section 6.2 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide.

At PRISM ->
At the second floor. You may need to give them photocopies of your NBI, BC, and passport and show them the original documents.

S2 - picture taking and fill-up the forms.

S3 - film showing about a lady on fiance visa who went abroad (married a Dutch) after only a month of exchanging correspondence. She was subjected to abuses- making her pose nude at different locations (mountains with snow). Well, she ended up going back here.

USA Room - group discussions. They will discuss about what to bring (hand carry), the do's and don'ts of what to bring, differences of visa category and what to do when we get to the US with those visas. How much buggage/luggage allowed.

One-on-One Discussion: In my case, She just asked about my profession? If I will be working in the US? How I met my husband? Where and when we got married? Citizenship of my husband's ex-wife? That's it! Others were asked about the annulment or divorce decrees, if this apply to you, better bring some copies.

After this, they will give you the "YELLOW CERTIFICATE" (counseling seminar certificate). Have it photocopied before going to CFO at Quirino Ave.

At Quirino AVe-CFO ->
You will be asked to fill-up a form. If you will accompany your fiance, you will be asked to wait downstairs or outside. Better go downstairs since it is air-con there. You will need to show them the Yellow certificate (and the photocopy), photocopy of your passport and the visa (details). After that, it may only 10-15 minutes (I went there in the afternoon and there's only 5-7 applicants), and they will give you a GReen Certificate and stamp on your passport.

Good Luck, have fun and have a safe trip!

This is some wonderful information. Thanks! I will keep this in my back pocket to share in the future...

PhilippinesAdditional ticket charges
Additional Airline Taxes (on top of the airline fare for the trip):

1. Travel Tax totaling 1620p
2. Terminal Tax totaling 580p
3. Security Tax totaling 250p

When my wife traveled back in Nov06 there were only the first two taxes on top of the airline fare that Philippine citizens had to pay before departing. Can someone please confirm whether #3 (Security Tax) exists?

Cheers!!!

Philippineschange address
Hmmm...

I would consider contacting the USE, before and/or after, your case files arrive to ensure that the address is updated. If the USC has a change of address after the petition is approved (NOA2), it's not as much of an issue/consequence, but if the beneficiary has a change of address after the petition is approved (NOA2), I'd consider making, at least one, follow-up call to the USE after they have been notified by you (just to be on the safe side). The beneficiary may not receive docuements from the USE, if the address is not updated, resulting in more time, engergy, and finances to be exhausted than otherwise necessary.

Hope this helps...

Cheers!!!

Philippinesis passport required for CFO seminar?
QUOTE (island_princess @ Aug 21 2007, 12:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
FYI. In Cebu, it's just the same. The seminar is administered by SMEF, which is located infront of San Carlos Boy's High, while the CFO certificate will be issued by CFO itself in another location, far from SMEF (about a 60.00pesos taxi ride).

IP...

Thanks a bunch! From what I had seen about year ago, I thought that in Cebu that the CFO administered everything. My bad! I am also working to update the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide to incorporate this information.

Thanks again...

Philippineswithout packet 4 yet
In the interim, you may go to the Manila Embassy website (the links are at the bottom of the page) and download the forms and complete them electronically [CLICK HERE]. The Packet 4 instructions are also available, but keep in mind that page 1, number 1 entitled "Proof of Payment" incorrectly states that the DS-156 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application) is validated by the banks. The pdf file for the Packet 4 link in Section 4.3 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide is modified to CORRECTLY read that the DS-157 (Supplemental Nonimmigrant Application) is the form validated by the bank upon paying the visa application fee. I have contacted the USE about this error, but nothing has been changed thusfar.

Cheers!!!

Philippinesaffidavit of support
ED*Riza...

Please read Section 4.3 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide.

Yes, the petitioner is required to supply the I-134 Affidavit of Support (including the required backup documents) to the beneficiary during the Visa Stage of the immigration process. The I-134 Affidavit of Support is NOT a requirement for the Petition Stage. Therefore, the I-134 Affidavit of Support is required to be submitted during the visa interview.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

p.s. - Conversely, there is a different affidavit of support that is required for the AOS Stage, once the beneficiary's visa is approved, arrives in the states, and marries the petitoner. That form is the I-864 Affidavit of Support.

PhilippinesI-134
Skyblue06:

Just a reference for you.

Per the I-134 Affidavit of Support instructions, the first sentence on page 1, Section I, entitled, Execution of Affidavit, states, "A separate affidavit must be submitted for each person". The form is also located on the USCIS website [CLICK HERE].

Therefore each visa applicant must have an I-134 Affidavit of Support with the required back-up documentation during the visa interview.

As always, cheers!!!

I have been waiting here almost everyday waiting for that darn package but then I have to claim it there grrr. I will go there tomorrow morning and also find the reason why it wasnt deliver to my place. I also saw a note that says "Subject to Inspection." Maybe they have already opened it. It's full of documents with sensitive information, darn. We have learned something from this experince. Thanks for the replies guys!

UPS takes forever. I recommend coughing up the extra funds and send it FedEx. It's more expensive, faster, and you avoid the extra scrutiny from customs. Not to mention, your package will arrive EXACTLY when they specify that it should arrive... You will save yourself a lot of heartache in the end. Plus, you won't be doing this forever...
