PhilippinesTO ALL FILPINOS,ARE YOU "AWARE or just DONT CARE"
Almost every male Pinoy that I've ever met says the Phil is very corrupt. Hell, my wife has says it on numerous occassions if the topic of the Phil comes up. It's hard to weed out the seeds of corruption without cleaning house, a better economy, and someone with the balls and power to get it done.

QUOTE (tammy2688 @ Mar 14 2008, 04:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm so sorry they are delaying you this way. But try to get some patience, think about how it would feel if everything was done, then you had to go through 6 months of security checks then finally when you are about to start on zoloft and forget about any bit of goodness in your life, the embassy finally calls, to say - MORE waiting, with no time frame. Thats basically my life here, my husband had his interview back in september of last year and he just got told he will have to wait more.

I only know God will help us and give us the good news in the right time.

I wish that your case will be completed soon.

Tammy

Yes, call the embassy or DOS that is cheaper and easier.

Tammy

Ditto! I know how hard it was when we were working through the process and in a year's time, it's gotten worse. Hang in there! You have a place to vent here...

PhilippinesHow to schedule your visa appointment?
Per the Manila Embassy website closer to the bottom [CLICK HERE],

"How to schedule your visa appointment:

...If you have an interview date but no time is indicated on your appointment letter, you should plan to appear at the Embassy at 7:30 a.m. on the date of your appointment. The database or listing is updated in the middle of each month. If you do not see an appointment date, check back after one month. Usually, this site carries appointment dates three (3) months out.

Starting March 14, 2008, those applying for K1, K2, K3 and K4 visas who have been notified by the Embassy to prepare for their interview can call a Visa Information Service operator to schedule an interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy. Applicants or their representatives must have the applicant’s Immigrant Case Number as given in the Embassy notification letter available when they call to schedule an appointment. This service will be available from within the Philippines as well as from the United States.

Applicants for all other immigrant visa categories unable to make previously scheduled appointments can call the same number, where an operator can reschedule appointments if no medical examination is pending.

Applicants, Agents or Petitioners can call Visa Information Services using the 909 number available within the Philippines at 1-909-101-7878. The cost of the 909 service is U.S. $0.98 per minute charged to your telephone bill. Callers can speak with an English- or Tagalog-speaking operator. The service is available to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, Manila local time.

Applicants, Agents or Petitioners calling from within the United States will also be able to reach our Services at the toll-free number at 1-888-877-9888. The cost of the 888 Service from the United States is a U.S. $18.00 PIN payable using a Visa or MasterCard once you have called into the service. This service is not available through the Visa Information Services website..."

Cheers...

Sheriff Uling

p.s. - I've read the interview can be schedule by ???? instead of calling the Visa Information Services for $18, which is now become another manditory fee. Geez!!! Please post that information on the alternate way to schedule the visa interview and medical exam, if you know, because I did not see it again at first glance.

QUOTE (NoelandTintin @ Mar 22 2008, 04:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I agree with most posters here. It's illegal. Don't do it.

But something caught my eye, a bit off topic, but I got curious.

Do they give temporary work permits to K1 holders at POE? I didnt think they do that. I thought those were given to mostly CR1/IR1 or K3 holders. Anyone have experience on this?

AGREED! It is illegal and I'm sure that most of the posters, who already out of harms way, would not have advised their own spouses to work. When it is, shall I write it again, ILLEGAL. Everyone knows that most of the government agencies do not have cross communications (that's nothing new). BUT, the point is, why risk a few weeks to a few months financial gain compared to the downside of getting caught working without proper authorization.

I shall write no more in this thread.

Cheers!!!

You are not authorized to work unless you have an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or a Greencard..... your SSN Card will have written on it “VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION.” so any employer will know that you need to have a EAD to be able to work....

Starting work without a EAD would be working illegally....

Kez

what's the risk for that?

DEPORTATION! Kinda like being arrested then kicked out of the country. Actually, I suspect that the beneficiary's AOS request will be denied accompanied-by or followed-by a formal letter basically telling you to "Get Out" by a specific date. I do not know the deporation or AOS denial procedures, but it's definitely not a procedure the beneficiary want to experience.

Better wait for your EAD . You are endangering yourself of getting deported if you work without it. I believe your I-94 also states that you are not allowed to work without proper authorization. Better be safe than sorry. For now, enjoy your time with your man and of course, get married . Goodluck

Please review Section 5.1 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide for their general delivery schedule info. Per the USE website, the visa processing usually takes about a week, but could take longer depending of the beneficiary's address (check out the bottom of the page [CLICK HERE]).

thank you for the help... i would appreciate it a lot....

thank's in advance!

I wont tell you NOT to apply but in my opinion, it is most likely that you will get denied for a tourist visa.

If the past is any indication on the future, then your tourist visa will more than likely be DENIED.

From what I had read last year, it seemed like that was the point of the CFO to try to convince folks from leaving the PI

Either that or they simply do not know the laws/procedures. I'm guessing a lot of both, but that's just my opinion.

PhilippinesVisa Pick up
No formal/informal letter is required. Simply request to pick up the visa from the Consular Officer (CO) at the conclusion of the interview. You have a 60/40 shot at your request being granted. It really all depends on the CO that handles your case. Good Luck...
