hi sheriff,

just a suggestion to correct 6.2 of the guide, the paragraph that starts with "In Cebu.."

i took my cfo in Cebu, the guidance and counselling is done at St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation located at 3F Aya-ay Arcade, 60 Mango Avenue, Cebu City (near San Carlos Boys High).

then the CFO sticker is being done in Commission on Filipinos Overseas located at Causing-Lozada Bldg., Osmeña Blvd. corner M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City (near DFA Cebu).

thanks for the big help!!

Thanks a bunch! I will update that very very soon and recant on a statement I made on taking the Guidance and Counseling Seminar before the visa is delivered.

sheriff uling do you mean we should have our seminar AFTER getting the visa? rather having it BEFORE getting the visa?

Ryza...

It's a matter of preference due to the couples situation, location, availability, and discretional income whether the beneficiary will attend the Guidance and Counseling Seminar BEFORE or AFTER the visa is in-hand.

My wife and I came to a decision that she would attend the Guidance and Counseling Seminar during her three night stay in Manila for the Medical Exam. For us, it seemed to be a better use of our time versus running back and forth trying to get that done then going to the CFO to obtain the CFO Sticker at the last minute before flying here to the US, which seems like an added stressor to me. Especially knowing how long everything takes to get done in the Philippines. Plus, the Guidance and Counseling Seminar is on a first come, first serve and it's the luck of the draw whether the locations that administer the seminar will be busy. Better safe than sorry, I always say. However, I highly recommend calling the location to get a confirmation that the beneficiary will be permitted attend the Guidance and Counseling Seminar and that’s only if the beneficiary plans on attending the Guidance and Counseling Seminar before the visa is in-hand. The reason being that on rare occasions the beneficiaries have been incorrectly turned away because staff members that do not understand the process. It's a rare occurrence but it does happen so it's better to call beforehand IMO.

Cheers!!!

PhilippinesManila Embassy K1 Visa Guide (Your comments)
Imaskin...

Thanks a bunch!

You know what? Making the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide was something that simply had to be done. The knowledge base for processing through the USE was not centralized and VJ's guide is an great overview. However, we (Phil-Am Families) needed something a little more detailed that speaks directly to our experience processing through the USE. I'm sure that someone would have eventually put something like this together, which was really the thrust behind the start of the Manila Embassy Interview thread. There was a void that needed to be filled via the collaborative experience of others. When I first began researching the K1 Visa Process, there were/are simply too many unspoken and/or undisclosed steps/rules/guidelines/processes for the K1 Visa applicant. VJ has been a great help for me tying together the the overview that I understood to the details processing through the USE. So it has been an honor for me to give back to an entity/community that has given so much to us, and I must thank everyone that has chipped in to make the tool even more useful.

I'm very, very, very pleased that others have found the guide to be a viable tool...

As always, cheers!!!

hi sheriff I have a suggestion in 4.6 please just indicate there that the size of photo needed is 2x2 and remove passport photo to avoid confusion..for americans 2x2 and passport size photos are the same for you because in your passport it is also 2x2 photo (correct me if i'm wrong), but for Philippines our passport size photo is smaller than 2x2 so sometimes it creates confusion as to what size should we bring, passport size or 2x2 size?

thanks sheriff uling!

Rea

I actually had that statement in brackets next to passport photo. The update in Section 4.6 now reads, "On the medical exam appointment date, please don't forget to bring the medical exam fee (payment accepted in pesos only), passport (SLEC will keep the passport and delivery it to the USE along with the medical exam results), appointment letter (if NOT received by the beneficary, then see SLEC NOTE below), three 2x2 passport photos (the required dimensions of all passport photos are stated on page 8 of Packet 4, which is referenced in Section 4.3)."

Cheers!!!

Bill and Joan...

Thanks a bunch! This has actually become a great hobby for me in developing the Guide. I noticed the void in information concerning the particulars of processing through the Manila Embassy and I wanted to fill it. I spend a lot of time researching the process before we were approved and I wanted to share all that I have learned/acquired. Plus, I don't want folks to have to struggle to find basic information.

I also want to thank everyone for their inputs, guidance, and help in making the Guide a viable tool.

Cheers!!!

... I've noticed there still is some confusion about the Visa Package after it's delivered by Delbros. Some aren't sure that it is ok to remove the plastic envelope covering the Passport with Visa and the brown envelope ( which you do not open). maybe something could be added to the guide addressing that issue.

Great point... I will work on that in the near future...

PhilippinesPlanning to bring foods in U.S
The lawful answer is that there is a lot prepared foods that is prohibited from being brought into the US. Please review TALLCOOLONE'S post #2 above. The secret if you are going to do it, in which I have as well because I could not resist bringing some adobo home (YUMMY), is to double and tripple wrap it so there is no smell, then seal that with a black plastic garbage bag, and put that at the bottom of your suitcase. At least, that's the Filipino way that I've been taught. It worked for me and my wife. However, I'm not recommending that you break the immigration law, but sometimes a Filipinos gotta do, what a Filipinos gotta do. tongue.gif

PhilippinesOnline Reservation for CFO?
Check out Shape's link to the CFO. Also, please review Section 6.2 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide. By the by, the requirements for the CFO are based on a first come first served basis, which is not explicitly stated in the Section 6.2 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide, but I'll remedy that very soon.

Hello,

There is no online reservation for attending CFO. You just have to be there early as it is first come first serve basis. There are 2 sessions for seminar, one in the morning 10:00am-12:30pm and afternoon session 1:30pm to 3:00pm. Located at 2nd Flr Equitable PCI Bldg. Taft Ave. Manila, with fee of P250.
