As a very emotional and expressive man, it's weird for me when I read that men have a problem expressing emotion. Although my wife is more emotional and I'm more expressive. Go figure...

NOTE: Somehow you have to keep working on bridging that gap in communication where your partner feels safe to let go of their insecurities. It's easier said than done and takes a lot of work.

Sorry to know that!

The doctors will hold up almost every applicant that has any deep tissue looking scars near their wrist in order to undergo a psych exam for fear that they have attempted suicide.

Good luck...

PhilippinesShould I use my married name when filing the AOS?
Yes... You should use your married name.

Remember you are tied by your passport number, alien ID number, and visa number. You can't hide nor confuse them unless you are an illegal alien. devil.gif Then they won't know where the hell you are... wacko.gif Besides, on the I-485, they ask what name did you entered at the POE, which is listed on the I-94.

Great question... good.gif

QUOTE (rjp44 @ Apr 21 2008, 09:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Last Tuesday my wife received her welcome to the U.S. notice. Then Saturday she received 3 more identical welcome letters. We would gladly swap all these extra letters for a SSN. BTW, if I had to do it again, I would not check the box on the DS-230 to apply for a SSN but would go to the SS office after entry and apply there.

It is kinda annoying when the process is delayed leaving the applicant in limbo. You might consider going to your local SS office to see if they can be of assistance. They may be able to either tell you what's going on and/or even help to get the process back on track.

That's what I would do...

Cheers!!!

Philippines2x2 pic for Embassy
In the Phil, when you take your passport photo, some shops require you to take off your jewelery and some do not. So my wife has passport photos with studs and some without studs. However, technically studs are fine according to the guidelines. The rule is to not have anything that distracts from or covers the face. So, either way, you will be fine.

My Fiance received her visa in November 2007 and it was only valid for four months. If you are unable to get an extension for the K1 you may want to consider leaving the child with relatives for a short time. If you immediately marry upon her entry in the US and file for the AOS with advance parole you can expect to receive the advance parole document in approximately 60 - 70 days. Maybe not the best option since she wont want to leave the baby but you would have to start all over again with the K1 if the extension is denied.

K-1 Visa is valid for six months. this is in Embassy website. I have link to the page in my sig.
What if the fiancé(e) must delay their arrival in the U.S.?

The K-1 visa is valid for a maximum of six months. If the visa bearer is unable to leave for the United States immediately and the visa expires, a new one may be issued upon written request to the Embassy and the payment of another application and processing fee of U.S. $500.

as others have said, contact the Embassy

Thanks! I have added the K1 VISA EXPIRATION information to Section 4.3 of the Manila Embass K1 Visa Guide. This was a great question...

PhilippinesVisa Pickup
That is the unfortunate part concerning the visa part of the immigration process. Depending on who you ask, you may receive the wrong information from those who work within the process. As previously mentioned, simply request to pick up the visa from the consular officer (CO) at the conclusion of the visa interview. Some COs will say yes, while others will say no, but you have a 50/50 shot (or greater). There is a short blurb on this near the end of Section 4.3 of the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide.

Philippinesmy top VJ info source :)
Based upon some of the harsh criticism that occurs in the "Off Topic Forum", I thought the idea of creating a Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide would be rejected and/or scrutinized so much that I would have abandoned that challenge. At that time, we did not have a Philippines Forum. Anyway, it turns out, I was completely wrong and the great Phil-Am families embraced the development of the guide. Good deal… I am so happy that folks have found the guide a viable tool and help to keep it relevant.

Kudos...

PhilippinesA VERY BAD INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE!!!
Congrats! As others have stated, sometimes there are bumps in the road, but thank God you made it through. In fact, I have always stated that the visa stage of the process is the worst primarily because everyone is separated from the one that the love for some period in time not to mention that things happen. Whether it's a mean guard at the SLMEC, the constant run around because of "proper identification" at the NSO after waiting for 82 hours (I'm exaggerating a bit), the document verification process failing, or whatever, it's always something. God bless the couple that is graced enough not to experience any snags in the road.

It's simply not easy any way you slice it...

Cheers!!!

I would state the annual income that he should derive. This would work out best if he can get a statement from his place of employment listing his job title start date and annual salary.

yap. agree good.gif annual income would be what he would earn for entire year ( 30,160) and a letter from his employer.
