Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCheck amount and cover letter
Hi all, I'm just getting my packet ready to submit in the next few weeks, and I had a question which hopefully is pretty simple! I apologise if it's been asked before, I had a quick look on the forum but didn't see anything.

I'm writing my cover letter, and I'm at the part where I have to say "please find a check for $...." and I'm wondering if I just put the $465 filing fee, or add the $80 biometrics fee in. Do I have to write two separate checks? Do I refer to the two payments separately in the cover letter or do I just say "please find a check for $545, the fee for this form"?

Thanks in advance!

I've been trying to add my case to the list on CRIS so I can get status updates but it keeps telling me that the case number does not exist.

Anyone experienced this? Have they just not put it in the computer yet? I received my NOA1 on Saturday, dated 10/29, so they've had a few days to put it in the system. Just wanted to check since it makes me nervous when it tells me my case number does not exist wacko.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC Reminder letter
Seems like a reminder letter is a common thing now? I didn't get one but if they sent it then it probably went to my old address, even though we moved around the time I got my conditional green card. Oh yeah, they sent my conditional green card to my old address even though I had filed both change of address forms, luckily we'd kept the mailbox key for an extra week since our mail forwarding had not yet kicked in. That could have been bad. Why do they do that?

I booked a plane ticket. Your point of entry can be wherever you choose it to be. Simply book your ticket and your point of entry will be the first airport you land at on arrival in the US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDesperation
Jennifer,

I remember that feeling well, I just didn't want to get up for the first couple of weeks after leaving my now hubby. I think it's normal to feel this way in an LDR, because all you want is to be with that person, but you can't be.

Just think though, you are well on the way with your K1 process, and once it's approved you will be together! It's not much longer to wait, you just have to be strong and remember that once you're together, all the pain will have been worth it. I've been in the States for 5 months now and I thank God every day that I'm here with Ben, and I don't forget what it was like when we were apart. I feel like we're so much stronger for going through that smile.gif

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do to stop the horrible longing feeling, but just keep thinking, it's not much longer now, and then you'll be together forever smile.gif

And until then, remember that we all understand here and are willing to listen and give words of encouragement.

Cat

To receive packet 4 or for the interview itself?

In my case, we received the letter less than two weeks later and then the interview was just a week after that! That was fast though. Receiving the letter within a couple weeks with the interview about a month later is more normal.

It was about a month before I received the letter, and about another month before my interview date.

Bring Branston Pickle!!! It costs $5.75 at my local British store for a tiny tiny jar.

Your UK driver's license is good for a year. I still drive on mine (though I've only been here 4 months) but I think once I have my SSN and green card I have to go take a test and then I get my Ohio license.

Plus, it's fun when you're asked for ID to show the UK license because they have no idea if it's real or where to look for the date of birth.
catrocksFemaleEngland2007-12-03 09:59:00
United KingdomCouple of questions
You will need your original birth certificate. I was never asked for my husband's birth certificate at my K1 interview, but I was told that a copy would be enough if I had needed it.

As for Malia coming to the interview with you, I'm not sure but I would say that it would likely not be allowed. They make it clear that due to seating restrictions you should only bring someone if you need them for the interview or to help you with any special needs.... you will have to present your letter/ noa and passport before entering the embassy and go through security to be let in, so I doubt they would let an extra person in who doesn't have an appointment.

She could come with you to London and then arrange to meet you somewhere a couple of hours after the interview. Bear in mind that if you take your mobile, you will have to leave it at security before you enter the embassy building.

You should probably call the embassy to check for sure whether Malia could come into the embassy with you, as I could be wrong smile.gif

I had my medical way before I had my interview date.... before I sent the checklist back even. This was in April and my interview was in July.

Not sure if it has changed since then.

United Kingdominterview in 2 weeks!
First of all, congratulations on getting your interview date!!!

Second, you'll have to pay $100 for the visa (which can be paid in GBP or $ - check the exchange rate and then bring a bit more than you think to be safe.... I think you can pay by credit card but not debit but hopefully someone else will clear that up as I'm not 100% sure). The visa courier service costs 13.50 GBP (unless it's gone up since July when I had my interview).

I can't help you with the hotel (luckily for me, my dad lives in Reading so I was able to stay with him and get the train into London), hopefully someone else can help, otherwise have you checked out any of the travel websites?

Congratulations again!!! smile.gif

Quick question....your timeline says you filed a K-1, but in your interview review you said that you handed AOS papers??? did you mean the I-134 and all the visa papers (DS-156, etc)?? Also, you said that you paid $200.00 at the interview? I thought it was $100.00 (going up at end of Jan to $131.00) plus the courier fee of course. Thanks for posting your experience and answering my Q's!!! It helps to learn from others smile.gif

It was $100 when I had my interview, that was in July, perhaps it was a typo?

Haha not quite! That does tend to be what people picture when I tell them the dress is pink though laughing.gif

I got miniature pots of bubbles from the dollar general (or some such dollar store) - a box of 8 (I think) was $1. You can get pots which have wedding cakes on or something equally wedding-y, but they cost more - but your wedding planner would probably have a better idea of where to look.

Sounds like a beautiful place where you're getting married smile.gif

I want to see the dress!! Pink?!!? That's pretty brave!!!

The thing is, it's like not even a 5 minute walk from the church to where she wants to hold the reception - and the area where it would be is not the *best* area in Liverpool laughing.gif

We had bubbles instead of confetti at our wedding here but some of my family brought confetti (biodegradable) and threw it anyway! Rebels!

My dress - it's pale pink so it's not that brave!

I don't understand why you wouldn't be allowed confetti if you're getting married outside?

We're hoping to have one in summer 2009. We were married last September, and hoped to have a blessing/ reception in England this summer, but really can't afford it right now!

I bought the most awesome dress though, from a charity shop (oh how I miss English charity shops!) it's new and pink and HUGE but in a nice way laughing.gif - it's nice that I'll get to wear the big dress twice (and two different dresses!).

My mum wants to do the horse and carriage thing and go over the top, but I just want something small and quiet for my family who couldn't make it to our wedding.... anyways we'll see.

My knowledge of the North-West is really hazy; it took me years to learn where Liverpool was, and I used to think Blackpool was on the East coast!

I swear my geography is otherwise pretty good, though. blush.gif

I was the same before I moved up there. I knew where Liverpool was because of my family being there, but I had no idea where York, Newcastle and Carlisle were (to name a few!). I travelled around the last few years so I managed to figure it out!

there is no Dr office for visa med in scotland, we all need to go to London. When I had mine a few weeks ago there was no problems, the people there were very helpful and you can schedule appointments quite fast.

Ewww thats horrible! You'd think they'd have one in England, one in Scotland, one in Wales and one in NI to be a bit more convenient! Although, this doesn't surprise me.
catrocksFemaleEngland2008-01-28 15:13:00
United KingdomJust got Packet 3...
As far as the doc's appointment goes, I'm sure if you call their office and explain your situation they would work with you. If I remember correctly (it's been a while so please someone correct me if I'm wrong), I was able to choose the date which suited me best for the medical. I'd assume the doc's office in Scotland would allow you to do the same smile.gif

Not sure about the vaccination records, since I was able to obtain mine from the doctor's easily. They should still have your records even if you haven't been since 1994, but obviously if you've had any vaccinations since then they wouldn't have records of that. But if you had your BCG etc, then they should be able to give you a record of that.

I think as far as evidence goes you're on the right track - it doesn't hurt to take more docs than you need, so take copies of everything you've submitted as evidence so far - I always think it's better to be over-prepared than under-prepared! I think I took a copy of the I-129f we'd submitted but I don't remember if the officer asked for them at the interview, so I don't know whether it will be an issue or not, but hopefully someone else will be able to clear it up for you!

Advice - apply for your police certificate ASAP as it takes the longest to get!
