Mexico, Latin & South AmericaPost NOA2: upcoming steps?

I am in a similar situation!

My fiancee lives in Peru, and we received our NOA2 on Sept. 5th... still haven't heard anything from the NVC, and my fiancee called the embassy today, and they said they couldn't give him any more information on our case.

I'm actually visiting him right now in Peru so I can't call the US... but I'm starting to worry our papers got mailed to the wrong place or have been lost? Anyone who went through the Lima embassy want to shed a bit more light on this for us? Will we for sure receive a letter from the NVC, or could our packet have been sent to the Lima Consulate already without us knowing? Any way to track it?

Thanks!!

Our case just went to ready today, and I emailed the Embassy. Hopefully tomorrow we have a response with our Interview date, and information of packet 4.

More than likely December the Interview will be.

We already scheduled our Medical Exam, you should too because they are 4 weeks out right now.

We just told them we had an interview date in december, bc we wanted to make sure we got an appt set up!

So we have a medical all set up for December, the results will take 10 days to get they told us.. which doesnt make sense because I have heard it takes only 5.

We'll see!

Are you attending the Interview with your fiance?

I will not be attending because we just don't have the funds at all to do so unfortunately.

I wish I could share that moment with her.

Hoping to have her here by December 30th so we can start 2014 TOGETHER! smile.png

Ours has been ready for a bit now... still don't know why the embassy gave us a completely different process to go through.

I was going to wait until we heard from the embassy to schedule a date-- so bummed that they're four weeks out! when did you schedule your's? did you call both doctors?

I'd imagine that our interview dates are probably mid December or so... I know a couple who got their visa to Lima the week before ours, and their date was Dec. 2nd.

I am still not sure about going to the interview. I have connections to the flight industry and can fly roundtrip for under $300 if there are standby seats, but I also don't want to spend the extra money unless it's necessary. I'd love to be there with my fiancee, but I don't know how necessary it is. Are you worried about it not getting accepted if you're not there?

Email the embassy at limaiv@state.gov

You pay the fee there during your Interview, and we get packet 4 -nothing more.

You can use the CEAC website to track your package to ensure it says "ready" as well. That would mean it is at the embassy.

Thanks so much! It does say ready on the tracking site, so I know that ours is ready... I was just so confused when they told us about this whole other process today because I had heard what you told me as the process time and time again.

My fiancee just lives up in Cajamarca (northern Peru), so we don't want to wait for the packet to get up there before we know the interview date, etc. I have heard that they will e-mail you the packet electronically if you want, so that's why this whole paying beforehand thing was throwing me off so much!

Good luck with your interview! When are you expecting your date to be? Our timelines are pretty similar! Except our visa sat at the CSC for 6 weeks... but ours was just sent to the embassy a little over a week before your's, so our interviews might be around the same time!

I saw this page when trying to figure out how to pay, too. It says you can pay the $240 by just signing up and logging in, which we did. But every time we try to "schedule an appointment" (which is where it mentions receiving the printable bank stub to pay the fee), we never get to any portion that gives us the printable page or any information about how to pay the fee/schedule an appointment.

no.. we're going through the K-1 fiancee visa interview scheduling steps.

it just doesn't make sense to me because the consulate info on here says that the interview date is automatically scheduled when the packet is sent. and many people have commented that they paid at the consulate during their interviews.

but on the embassy website, it also mentions this website? not specifically for K-1 visas though...

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaK-1 Visa Lima Consulate Paying MRV/Signing up for Appointment Online

My Fiancee's application was FINALLY shipped to the NVC and then to the Lima consulate on the 25th of Oct.

When he called today to see if he could find out his scheduled interview time (Peruvian mail is notoriously slow, and he hasn't received the packet yet), the consulate worker said that he just had to pay the MRV fee in cash to the bank and then could schedule the appointment after. He said to do so through this site: http://usvisa-info.com.

But as we signed him up for the site and went through the process described to get the printable bank slip, nothing works. We are never directed to the page to print off the PDF bank slip to pay.

Has anyone experienced this? Or know how to deal with this part of the process? I am kind of confused, because I have been reading that others pay the MRV fee AT the consulate during their interview, so I don't know why the process is different for us?

All of these different instructions and hold ups are starting to get SO frustrating. Any advice would be appreciated!

Also, does anyone have a good e-mail address to contact the consulate in Lima? We keep getting different e-mail addresses, and none of them seem to work well...

Thanks!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaLima Embassy-- Time from approval to DHL Pickup in Lima

My fiancee has his interview this week at the Lima Embassy (December 5th), and I'm trying to buy a flight for my fiancee in advance. Of course the embassy doesn't recommend buying anything in advance, but I found a killer deal on JetBlue and would like to try and take advantage of it for financial reasons.

For those of you who have received a visa from the Lima Embassy, how many business days did it take for your approved visa/passport to arrive via DHL (for pickup in Lima)?

Thanks in advance!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)No word from NVC after 1 month--LIMA

I received my NOA2 on Sept 5, 2013. I'm currently visiting my fiancee in Peru, and we haven't heard anything from the NVC still (it's been over one month). We can't call because we're abroad, but we're starting to get worried that our papers have been lost or sent to the wrong place.

We called the Consulate today in Lima, but they just told us that they don't have our records yet.

Has anyone dealt with this? Is there a way to check online or via e-mail with the NVC? Any suggestions as to how we should proceed?

ALSO, has anyone else here gone through the Lima consulate? Can I get a time frame for how everything went with your case?

Thanks so much!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)noa2 from september

Do you think it's just a problem with the California Service center??

I filed through Texas and received my NOA2 on Sept 5th... after calling today to the NVC, they still do not have my case. I also haven't received an updated case status on the USCIS page or any e-mail about it being mailed.

Another woman I talked to on here who is also filing for a Peruvian fiancee through the Texas center was approved YESTERDAY with her NOA2 and received notification today that her case was sent to the NVC.

Should I be worried? Anything I can do?

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplication approved in TX one month ago but case still unopened at Consulate

Hi there!

For reference, here's a brief timeline of our case:

May 14, 2013: Applied for K-1 Visa

May 22, 2013: 1st notice // application received

August 15, 2013: RFE

September 5, 2013: Approval from TX Center

We received notification that our petition was approved nearly a month ago, but neither my fiancee or I have received any information from the consulate regarding progress or interviews, etc. I have read that the Lima, Peru consulate generally only takes 25-30 days to process, so I am getting a little worried. I thought for sure we at least would have received some notification of our case being opened there or he'd have any interview scheduled by now. I don't know who to contact exactly because we don't have a case number yet and all of the phone numbers/e-mail info specify needing to state your case number.

And now that the government is shut down, I'm worried it's just going to be delayed further.

Has anyone here dealt with this? Or the Lima consulate specifically?

Any light anyone can shed on this issue or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks so much.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot letter of RFE : questions and suggestions

The same thing happened to me-- it's in a tricky spot, and I misread the question!   My RFE specified how to respond, though. I don't remember exactly... I think I checked "no" and signed it?

Our application was approved about 2 weeks after I sent back in the RFE.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTired

My petition was approved, and I didn't include any chat logs whatsoever in mine... I know it varies depending on the case, and it's definitely better to include some than none. But I'd echo those who say that travel documents and evidence of meeting in real life is more important. I did, however, include very sincere letters from both sides stating intent to marry, etc.

Good luck!!

I have a Russian wife from Moldova. She works at Ross Stores and gets a 20% employee discount and loves it. It is her favorite store for clothes, a lot of name brands and good deals.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussian Int'l Driver's License
My wife got her license in Moldova first. It was a good move for us because she was able to drive as soon as she got here. Here in Colorado, if you are not a resident (green card holder) you cannot get a Colorado Drivers License. If you are not a resident, you are allowed to drive on your valid foreign drivers license, but have to carry your passport and visa to go along with it. My insurance liability covers anyone I allow to drive my car, I simply had to report when my wife received her Colorado Drivers License. She passed the written test, but then ran into a name change problem with the DMV because USCIS in Denver did not update her married name in some system they have.

I highly suggest she gets a Russian drivers license before coming over. If for any reason, just to practice and learn to drive from someone who speaks her language. As far as an international license, I dont know what to tell you. Maybe an official translation of her Russian license would be just as good. When she comes to America, most states will see her as a visitor until she gets a green card and then they will see her as a resident. Notice most information from the DMV applies to residents. Even as a US Citizen, I cannot visit California and just get a drivers license, I need a job, a house or something that ties me there.

I got my wife a car with a navigation system (unfortunately it doesnt speak Russian). No matter how good your woman speaks English, It might be in your best interest to learn some basic words like svetafor (traffic light), nah levay and nah prava (left and right) before you put her behind the wheel. It can be quite the experience the first week or two of her driving but just emphasize safety to her. She will get better quickly, it will only be scary for a week or two. It is really worth it, my wife was so happy to be able to drive everywhere. Our village of 25,000 people has no public transportation and that can be a little shocking to a big city girl from the FSU.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusS novym godom!

The wife will be calling the family here in about 30 minutes--13 hour time difference between Denver and Almaty. She is going to make something for this evening, but not sure what. We will bring in the New Year and I am sure her family will call us and then we will find a channel that has Nazarbayev's year speach and listen to it. Then we will pack for our trip to Hawaii and leave for the airport--flight leaves at 0615. I will get to hear how boring the New Year is here in the US as we do not shoot off fireworks.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy new year.

Dave

We went sking on Monarch Mountain, they had fireworks and we brought champagne. Try nearby Keystone or Breckenridge next year, they even have a show where people ski down the mountain at night with torch lights, it is pretty neat. Nice that you live in Denver, I found a Russian supermarket there last weekend, my wife bought like a months supply of Pelemini and other russian food. I live in Pueblo and we have nothing like that around here. Happy New Year!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust Filed k1 in November 2012 (Vermont processing center) What can I expect?
Hi

I did a K-1 visa last year, it took a long time and mine was at CSC instead of VSC. You pretty much have to deal with the grueling wait for the government to process your application.

The US Embassy in Chisinau is easy to work with, they are friendly and helpful. Once your long wait to get your petition has been approved at USCIS (DHS), it is sent to the Department of State and things get easier and faster.

The interview was simple and last only a few minutes, if you have a legitimate relationship, it will be no problem. It doesnt matter if she knows all the answers to all the questions, as long as she can prove to the interviewer that you have a legitimate relationship.

I dont think your wife can come here while waiting on a K-1 petition, usually the only K-1s that come here on visits are from visa waiver program countries

However, Moldova is a nice place to visit in my opinion. Do you like wine? Moldova was the Napa Valley of the Soviet Union, they have the largest wine cellar in the world, Milesti Mici, it has 55 kilometers of wine underground. You can take a tour in a taxi complete with a traditional moldovan dinner and wine tasting. In the winter, you can go skiing in nearby Bukovel Ukraine or several places in Romania. In the summer, you can go to the beach in Romania or Ukraine. Chisinau has several nice parks to visit and several shopping centers and outdoor markets. There is a nearby park on the Dniester River.

I would NOT suggest using a lawyer, I would suggest instead you carefully look over the guides on this website and read the instructions carefully before submitting the forms.

If you have any questions about Moldova in particular, let me know.

Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Visa/tourist visa, need some help!!

Im going to an interview on the 4th for a tourist visa now, we hope she gets it. My fiance is sending in the I-129F packet on Friday and they should receive it on Monday the 2nd. My questions are, do I need to let the tourist visa interviewer know that we just sent in the I-129F packet for the K1 visa? And getting a tourist visa could affect the process of the K1? And when do we need to worry about filling out a change of status?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVISA K1 (WAITING FOR INTERVIEW, PACKAGE 3)

Hi, does anyone know if I have to pay the k1 visa before they send me my package 3 (not sure if I have to wait for that or not?) or before they called me or contact me for appointment?

This is what our status says: "Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you already have an interview appointment scheduled, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Present your appointment letter at your interview, if you do not, you will be turned away. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment."

Any information you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportspacket 4???

Hi all,

Just curious about the packet 4..I received the packet 3 a few weeks ago and it stated that we could schedule the interview, medical, and ASC. We have scheduled the interview for April 4th and everything seems to be ready to go, I was curious when we would receive the packet 4? Will this be before the interview? Also what does the packet 4 consist of?

Thanks
