US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Interview

Well, our number is only 21 days behind the last one to get a Dec interview date.(ours is 2006783xxxx) I am really hoping that means a late Jan- early Feb interview date for us.

I think the January appointments are all given out now. I'll predict a late February for you (and me). Wanna bet me a cold San Miquel in Manila?

I hope you are wrong and they give out more Jan dates like they just did for Dec. Valentines day would be a good day to get approved. Ken & Maria

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Interview

Anyhow, she was fine before the exam. However during the am of the exam, she felt a little sick plus she started bleeding a little bit out of her mouth. She had no idea that she was sick or had TB until the Exam, itself.
During the exam, in addition to the blood from her mouth (which never happened before then), the examiners said that her heartbeat was unusual. She said that it was actually slow. They took the X-rays but I am not sure if they new for sure about the TB at this time. They had he take some extra tests and stuff and told her that she had to go back to St. Luke's on the 17th of November. This was on November 8th. When she went back, she was told by people at St. Lukes that she failed the exam and could not go to the Embassy interview, that was scheduled for November 20.
From the 8th to the 17th, she did not officially know that she failed the exam, but knew that there was a problem. Because she did not believe that she was actually sick, she really thought that she would pass those tests and even told me that all was fine. She was very shocked to find out that she failed the exam, but did not know until she was told on the 17th. It took her a few days to tell me because she was so devastated. It took her a little bit longer to tell me what happened because a friend told her that I would dump her. (That is not true!) She would not tell me why she failed the exam, only that she did. So, I called St. Lukes and found out what happened. Only then would she tell me what happened. (Basically, she was ashamed of what happened)
Since then, she says that she has gotten better, or at least feels better.
About the regime: St. Luke's told me that she must take medication everyday. After 3 months, she will have another x-ray and then continue on for 3 more months (6 months total) of medication. After the 6 month mark, she will have to have another X-ray taken. From then, it will be determined if she improved and could travel to the USA. St. Luke's was pretty firm on the 6 month part. I am not sure if that is based upon how sick she is or if that is a standard time line.
Note, St. Luke's said that the medication was free, but that she had to take it there. For the weekends, when they are closed, they do give her medication to take with her. She is fortunate enough that she does have a place to stay at in Manila, at a relatives place. She only needs to pay for the transportation to get to St. Luke's and return each day.
The thing that gets me is that St. Luke's used the word "infectious" to describe her condition, yet she is able to stay at her Grandma's place. I would think that they would quarantine her or something.

Panicked, Now it makes sense. The meds is a daily dose and it used to be 6 months, might still be in the PI, but it is 9 in the states. TB is very contagious, you as well as all her family members need to have the TB tine test to ensure they do not have it. If ST Lukes is making you wait 6 months, I'd write the Embassy or call and have them keep your case open (think u already did this). The med are expensive, so glad to hear she is getting them for free through St Lukes. Good luck and out thoughts are with you two. Ken & Maria

if your papers and all other requirements are in order...the rape trial results should not affect your visa applications.

yeah, i know but then we didn't knw wat the american consul thinking now. obviously some of em are meanie pie atleast not all of em ha. well, think positive only. m just sharing wat ive seen in the news earlier and the concern of the ppl outside in the embassy waiting fr their interview time.

I am also interested in what happened at the initial medical exam date. When the x-rays were taken, what happened then? I have a friend who's fiancee had her medical recently. They have asked her to come back for three days of phlem testing. Did the same happen to you? When did they inform the girl she had active TB? Thanks, Marilyn and Peter.

That is what I am asking. They only way to tell if it is active is a combination of test, not just an xray and labs results take a couple of days. Unless she was showing symptoms, which he says she was not, I'd get a second opinion like at Makati Medical or even St Lukes without telling them the results of the scheduled medical. Let us know what you find out. Payato

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview 20th November

Well....my interview is in a week...
and I have some questions I hope you guys will be able to help me out

1) Question 18 on the DS157 form asks if I made any travel arrangements and if I did state them. So is it better to make travel arrangements before the interview or wait untill after... what would work better for the interviewer?

2) Also in 156 form asked if anyone pettitoned for immigrant visa for you. My mom filed for an immigrant visa for me a couple of months ago...would that be a problem at interview?

3) I just recieved the I 134 forms from fiance and co sponcer.... on question 11 fiance answer as N/A, but the co-sponcer answered that she will finance me for 2 years.... arent the sponcers supposed to be responsible for 10 years?

4) My fiance doesnt make much money he is self employed and just got out of college..so the only thing he put on I134 is the sum of his life insurance... will that be a problem? the co sponcer make more than enough though...

ok I know this is alot..but please answer what you can
thank you in advance!!! :help: (F)

1) Depending on the consulate it has taken anywhere from a few days to 2-3 months for the visa to be delivered... probably not a good idea to make travel arrangements priot to the interview. However, several members here have done that so who am I to tell you no.
2) You need to be honest, but I do not think it will make a difference as both VISAs have the intention of you becoming a permanent resident.
3) No clue about co-sponsor... yordak?
4) hmmm, hopefully they will use the co-sponsors income and not ur fiance's...

good luck, Ken

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPhilippine police clearance question

Since my Wife has never lived in another Country does she need police clearance or just NBI Clearance?
thanks
Mark

Dear Mark,
I'm from RP too and your wife needs a police clearance from where she's residing now.If she had lived in the other part of the country when she turn 16yrs old she should get another police certificate from that place.Of course you need an NBI clearance too and state in the application its for "US travel".Hope that helps.

The NBI request should be for Travel Abroad and you ar elooking for "No record on file".... you can do a search or look in the 177+ page manila embassy thread and the NBI information is there. My fiancee just got her NBI clearance on Monday. Ken

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Questions

Mornin' everyone (depending on where you are...), just have a few questions and hope someone has some experience with them...

- If in block 8, I list a partial dependent, do I have to have supporting documentation? I pay child support, but don't have custody of my child.

- For block 9: I previously submitted (and had approved) a K3 VISA for my ex. It's listed on the I-129F along with copies of divorce paperwork, etc... Should I provide support documentation?

- For block 10: I of course did an affidavit of support (long ago). Basically same question as block 9.

- Supporting evidence, specifically for military. I have copies of tax returns, pay stubs etc... Is it necessary to provide a letter from my employer? Being military, is it necessary to get letters from banks? My income and history with the military (16 years...) should prove I have sufficient income right?

- For "Oath or Affirmation of Sponsor". Can I get this notarized by a legal officer on base?

Thanks in advance for any help! Getting closer to being with my Fiance everyday! :D

Ok le tme see if I can answer some of your questions.
8. - I pay child support and listed my dependents, they are on ur ITR more than likely anyway
9 & 10. If you filed in Manila before they are still on file. either way, list them and explain each one on an attachment
Letter from Employer - Get the Statement of Service form online and have the notary notarize it the same time as the ITRs and 134. being in the military we are well over the pverty line, they are just lookgin to make sure we havea current job and can support the beneficiary.
Cant help you on the Sponsor. Why would you need a sponsor?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionINTERVIEW DATES ET. AL.

Hi All!

My fiance received a letter from NVC dated Nov. 6 notifying us they got our case and will be forwarded to the US embassy in Manila.
1) Just quite curious when will I receive the packet. I'll be having my vacation this Christmas so hopefully I could get it this Christmas.....(nice Christmas gift!!!!)
I have seen some people approved last August having their interview date in Manila in January next year. We 're approved last October 26.
2) Regarding the "proofs" for the interview, should I print the exchanged emails or only my fiance's email for me?
3) On the Affidavit of Support, household size would depend on the number of dependents stated on his tax documents? He's been living with his parents and younger sister. He told me that he did not put any dependents on his income tax docs..... (m not sure what's the term for this)
Sorry for so many questions......I would gladly appreciate your ideas!!!! Thanks in advance!!!!

Jenny, Be patient. From what I can tell, no one gets their packet until they actually have an interview date. The couples with the Aug dates and jan interviews will likely get their packets now. Your time line is very similar to ours and we are hoping for a Feb interview, no packet yet.
Proof of relationship... a few emails then a screen capture of your chat logs, cam or emails between you should be proof enough. I suggest taking pics this Dec and saving the Airline stubs, hotel receipts, phot copy the passport stamps...ect for the Christmas vacation.
For the I-134 AOS, he is only supposed to claim "his" dependents. Unless he claims his parents and siblings as his dependents on his incometax form, he has no dependents. Dependents in it's impliest form means children and/or spouse.
Good luck Payato

AS IM WRITING THIS, I AM STILL IN TOTAL SHOCK,, MY QUESTION IS"WHAT WILL BE THE BEST WAY TO CANCEL EVERYTHING, VISA, INTERVIEW ETC...OUR GOVERMENT (USA) REALLY NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS WOMAN, IN CASE SHE DOES THIS AGAIN,, BRIAN

You need to call the consulate where the interview was supposed to be and cancel it now. Then call the NVC and USCIS to follow up on cancelling the rest without this personal story. Just tell them personal reason. Payato

Hey all saw our interview date on the manila embassey website so we know we have that secured. How long before she should recieve the packet. Been 10 days now. Thanks

Looks like most folks with Jan interview dates have been receiving packets this week. If the typhoon does not interfere hopefull you will get it next week as I am sure the Embassy is closed for Bonafacio Day 30 Nov and 1 Dec. She can also go to the K-1 Guidelines on this site as well as the US Embassy site and download all the requirements and forms for Packet 4 without waiting. Good luck, Payato
:guides:
Look at the Example Forms at the top of VisaJourney.com where it says "Example Forms".

If a form says:

DO NOT SIGN this form until instructed to do so by the consular officer

then don't sign it
In Kitkat's defense, she is correct in directing people to the guidelines and Examples. More people need to do this before asking the same questions that was asked only 3 post before theirs or has been asked several time in the same forum. It is even worse when the impatient ones repeatedly post the same question in several forums or the same forum without waitng for responses. I do not mind direction and do not require tact... but I have been in the military for 21 years and getting to the point is always the best policy.

In defense of Ariesgurl, the example forms do not state DO NOT SIGN this form until instructed to do so by the consular officer they do however state not to write below this line and you will be instructed by the consulte.
I would play it safe and only sign things that need to be notarized prior to the interview. There is no problem with wating to sign all the forms at the interview but sigining the wrong form before you are supposed to might? Ken & Maria

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionworried about my fiance..

Hi guys im just a newbie here,i just wnt to know if somebody has a case like mine...my girl has a problem on her health its something on her lungs found an infection...i wonder if my fiance can still be with me wen they found out that on her final medical on July(hopefully) that she has a health prob.wht should i do?can anyone share there experience?im just worried... tnx evrybody...

If you know she has a medical issue now and not expecting the medial until Jul 07. Take care of the issue now by getting your fiancee the proper medical treatment. If it has to do with her lungs, something like TB, it is treatable with medications. I suggest sending her to Manila to St Lukes or Makati Medical and getting her the proper treatment. Ken & Maria

i woke up today and i received this letter handed by the mailman:

instructions are stipulated, requirements need to be prepared and these are not to be SUBMITTED TO THE EMBASSY!

:)just wondering if this is the so-called packet 3...the instructions...

and packet4...includes the appointment letter for medical exam and interview...am i right? :innocent:

If it is just the two page letter stating the USE has received your case and directions to wait for your medical and interview appointments, it is jsut that, a letter. There is no packet 3 for Manila. Packet 4 will contain all the required forms and the appointments dates for your medical and interview. Ken

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDifficulty getting information in time for interview / visa approval window

After 7 long months our I-129 was approved, then moved through NCS. Since my fiance is from China, it is next to impossible to get the official birth certificate and police records that is being requested - let alone in a couple weeks.

We can only assume you have not looked at the examples and guidelines for the required forms or you would not have waited 7 month for the packet 3 to tell you what you needed. I do not think China is any slower than any other third world country in obtaining documents. Like the last repsponse, where does the 1 Mar 07 date come from? Her interview will be in China not in US/Canada. She will only be in US/Canada after she is approved for the K1.
I think reading the guidelines and example forms may clear some things up for you. Good luck, Payato

Kirk, it depends on what you consider good food. There are many place and many malls in Manila. Robinson is a few blocks form the Embassy and they have all the fast food and filipino food courts you can stand. Hard Rock Cafe is in Gloretta Mall in Makati but that is a ride. It really depends on what your taste is, there is not shortage of resturants in Manila and specifically Malate the area surrounding the USE. What Hotel are you staying at, that would help us point you to the nearest places. Ken

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow do I cancel a K1 petition?

To all of you,

Everything is going to be OK. We talked about it and we both understand. I said all the things that I wanted to say. I said all the things I needed to say. She explained and she apologized 100 times. We took care of things. Life goes on. Visa process continues.

In a relationship, you have screw-ups. At least if you are in the relationship long enough! I'm no Angel, but my woman has made me a better man since we met in 2005. And after the mistake, after the argument, after the stress, after the blood pressure is normal again, there's a point where the 2 of you look at each other and you know that you have an understanding, a connection stronger than many people can know, and that no more needs to be said. At that point, you decide to go forward together or to abandon ship because things were not perfect. Life is not perfect!

We both asked the question "So what will this look like 3 years from now?". The answer is that it would be a distant memory that we can tell our kids about one day. Yep, "The Passport Story". We still have our eyes on the prize. We are waiting on her Interview date from the Consulate, probably late January, early February.

We'll be just fine. Thanks for all the love!

Joey & Fernanda

Joey I wish you the best of luck. However, I was married to a woman that sounds exactly like your fiance. She did this over and over for 9 years until I had nothing left to mortgage/borrow/give then I was nothign to her. Take it from me, get yur fiancee some financial management classes and if she does not change her spending habits and continues to look at you for her debt relief, you are going down a path of debts, lies, apologies and spending that will repeat its self until you can no longer pay the bills.
I hope I am wrong, but after going through it for 9 years, I see the signs and she is likely taking advantage of your kindness. I hope not and like to look on the positive side. I hope she has learned her lesson and will change her way. Best of Luck, Ken & Maria

Hi: I just received my NOA2 snail mail. in the body it says the petition has been approved and forwarded to the "listed consulate." I am a bit unclear. I thought it was to go to the NVC. Please let me know...thanks!!!

We saw the same thing on Petitions coming out of vermont a couple of mon ths back. All the petitons go through the NVC. The electronic version goes out to the consulate long before the package. Have a few Questions If you make 100% of the poverty level will they usually accept that at the Manila Embassy? and I am in between jobs right now shoud I send a employee letter fromboth my former employer and the new one ?
Mark

As long as you meet the peverty level requirements and can produce the ITR for the previous year as well as letters of employment (I suggest the new job) signed by your boss, you should be ok. The only waiver to the poverty level I know of is Military personnel because of all their allowances that are not considered income; like free housing, money for food (BAS), Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in high cost areas...etc. Ken

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRenewed Letter of Intent to Marry
Ehssa, If you remember the ongoing argument in the Manila Embassy thread about the NOA2 expirations and the "routine" vs. "automatic" extensions beyond the NOA2 expirations, this is the purpose of the updates letter of intent to marry. Basically take the same letters from both of you that were included with the original petition and change to the current date and new signatures. This lets the CO know both of you are still free to marry and still have the intent to marry. Ken

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionlooks like we are rejected
Steve, if Jinky has contact with the father, what would it hurt to get his notarized consent to bring her son with her to the states? At least she would have the affidavit on her if asked.

I think the CO will ask about the father more if she says yes in question 37. If she says yes, she might want to be able to answer questions lke his citizenship status, marriage status...etc. Saying no and claiming not to know where the father is might be a lie but it might also garner less questions. This is a sticky one but if Jinkys CEMONAR says she is single and she checks no, maybe they will not ask her like they did not ask RiggerAF. JMHO, Ken

DS 156 question number 37... Simply answer NO. Kids won't be questioned during the interview. According to my experience the pre-interviewer asked me for my son was his birthdate, birth place, if i live with his bio-father, pictures of my son and my fiance. So no worries about it and simply put NO to avoid any complications.you are unsure about his status anyway.

If she answers NO, that would not be truthful because his biological father lives here in the states. I'd be scared of that causing a denial should they find out that in fact he does live here. What do you think they will require if the biological father is here in the states?

From the NBI site:
NBI clearance should state purpose FOR TRAVEL ABROAD
The embassy lists 4 notations that would need an explanatory letter from the NBI. Aside from the "No Derogatory Record" amd "No Record On File".
Need NBI letter if notation is:
No Criminal Record
No Criminal Conviction
No Pending Case

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionasking to open email accounts
As many VJ member here and friends of mine have already been through this process and never having heard such a rumor, I think it is no more than a rumor or new urban ledgend. Unless the CO took the interviewee inside the secure area, there are no computers in the interview rooms that I know of. Ken

Has anyone ever been asked, during the interview, to open their email account so the consular officer can look through the account for whatever reason?

Seems incredible to me, and an invasion of privacy. But my fiance says she has heard of this occuring at interviews in the Manila embassy. Has it happened to anyone any other consulates or embassies?

Seems like if they thought a fiance was a security risk, they would likely invade the email account with some sort of covert CIA type under cover investigation...

These and other thoughts going through our minds awaiting our interview and trying to anticipate what will occur in the dank halls of the Abu Dhabi Embassy...

We have some older emails, and have read about it being proper to black out personal parts when you print them up for inclusion in your interview documentation, if you think you don't want to share certain things. This is why we are asking.

Essha, I can not find an expiration date on ours and nothing on the website about it expiring. However it has been almost a year since you got urs and ur interview is the day after ours. If you have the time and money, it would not hurt to have a new one to prove you are still eligible to get married. Ken

here i go again! got my CENOMAR last april 2006..is it necessary for me to get another one??? :help: coz it was last year and its 2007 already...thankssssss to all! :star: :star:

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-156 Question #36-Not sure about this one
Like Joone said, It means has anyone other than you filed a petition for your fiancee. This includes Tourist Visas, previous K1 or K3 Visas. Ken

I petitioned(I-130&I-129F) for my wife(the applicant) when we started this current visa process. So does my wife answer this question "Yes" or do they mean someone for any past Visa's that the applicant may have applied for in which my wife would answer "No"
Thanks Ahead of time -Gary

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfrom interview to visa arrives?
Array, have you been to the Foreign Embassy Forum and looked at the Manila Embassy Interview Thread? There are way too many factors to give you even a WAG (Wild ### Guess). It depends on the CO and if the Visa goes into AR or AP; depends on your fiancee's location and depends on Delebros. The Manila Thread has been tracking the number of days for delivery after approval so the list PW is keeping should give you and idea. BTW, we have our interview the same day. We are requesting to pick up the Visa and hope to leave Manila on 24 Feb.
Ken & Maria

Hello, Mariz has interview on feb 15, 2007 at Manila, was wondering if all goes well how long before she will get visa. I am trying to plan for family to visit, need time frame, so i can give them dates. I know that there is no set time, was just looking for other peoples experiences of how long it took them. thank you Ray

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTransit Visa
There should be a sealed envelope inside the envelope you received. Your fiancee will need the passport to exit the country. Open only the outer envelope. Ken & Maria

Hi,

My fiance's visa was approved and she received it yesterday. It came in a sealed envelope which I heard should not be opened. Is this true ? What if we wanted to make a stopover in another country before proceeding on to the US. How is that going to work if the passport needs to be stamped in the transit country ? Can someone please explain if it is possible to open the sealed envelope so that she can use her passport. Thanks.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEvidence of ongoing relationship
You should bring what u submitted with the 129 and any proof of relationship between the date you submitted the petition and your interview date. Chat logs, hotel and ATM receipts if you fiance visited the PI, pics of u together and anything else u can think of that proves the relationship is ongoing and that you have met within the last 2 years.
Even passport stamps, boarding passes and exit fee stamps from the Manil airport. Good luck, Ken

Hi to all! Anyone for Manila interview or anyone who knows...Do my fiancee needs to photocopy all letters/stamped envelopes/mail receipts/emails/other things to show evidence of our relationship? You know like the one you did when you file for I-129F that you have to make copies of such things :help:

Or can she just bring all those evidence and show the originals upon request

Insights would be helpful :innocent: Thank you!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmedical, interview, cfo....
Not true for the CFO or medical. Maria completed both 18-19 Jan and just got her police certificate yesterday. The police certificate is only required at the interview if you meet the requirements to get one.
Take a look at Sillygurls post with a great break down of the CFO and Medical process and requirements. Ken & Maria

yes...you do need the police clearance even if you the NBI clearance already. If it is part of the requirement...yes you do...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAny Motel suggestions for my wife stay at in Manila during medical and interview?
Gary, No they do not keep the payment, it is much like Expedia, the hotel only charges you for he nights u stayed. It is up to u to contact Precision Reservations and get the refund... I did this last year and it was less then 72 hours when I saw the refund in my account. Ken

If you book through Precison reservations, they will email you and you fiancee a hotel voucher paid in full. She will only need to present the voucher and put down the deposit for the mini bar or have them remove all the items. Ken

How can I get my fiancée a room without a credit card to present at check-in?

Does anyone have experience with this situation?

I think I would rather return to the Philippines to fly back with her rather than go for the interview and or medical.

What is the best way to get her a room for her physical and interview without being physically present in Philippines and with out a credit card to present at check in.

Thanks in advance!

If you pay in advance for, let's say, 5 days and check out after 4 days what happens. Do they just keep the payment anyway?
