Same, 3 weeks and 3 days :) Not a bad wait at all

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 TSC Filers

200 days today and security checks for 36 days!!

I would be fine, except my fiancé's grandfather has been very quickly deteriorating in hospital over the last few days. Not only have I been incredibly close with his grandparents the last couple of years, but he is the centre of the family and best man at our wedding. We're the first of the grandchildren to get married and I can't bear the thought that I might never get to see his grandfather again :-((( I got so upset last night as he keeps asking for me, but I can't be there! I really wish I could be there with my fiancé and his family right now, the family are falling apart and my fiancé is the one trying to hold them together, all on his own.

Sorry for the venting guys, it's been a sleepless night. USCIS, you are literally stabbing me in the heart.

I'm so sorry to hear that Lauren, that's awful :( Wishing you all the best and lots of strength during this ordeal!  (F)

Wow, I got my interview date yesterday! It's really going fast now compared to waiting for NOA2! The Amsterdam consulate is excellent :D Two days after they logged in my case I got Packet 3, three days after they received my returned Packet 3 I got Packet 4 and my interview date is 16 September already. A little more than 3 weeks!! I was expecting 5-6 weeks till interview, bit shellshocked now

It will for sure! Just it is more and more difficult... before - we all had been waiting and I hoped for tomorrow! Now it feels as being left behind... As service centers reps are useless; Tier 2 - was useless, in my experience! NJ Senators - will see... giving them the second try!

Have you tried Robert Menendez? We filled out the form on his website and got a call an hour later, his office is very friendly :) We were approved 5 working days after their inquiry.

I totally get the obsessive checking, the time between me getting my case number and the case number actually working on the CEAC website (48 hours) nearly killed me

haha, spot on! Same here :D I sometimes wonder if they can see how many times we log in and then say: 'gosh, there's that crazy girl logging in for the 20th time today, get a life!' They should place bets on it  like race horses

oh yes, sorry, I misread. I thought there's some way to sign up for NVC notifications, like when they accept the documents etc :P nevermind

The only way to find out is to keep pestering them with phone calls ;) We called every day until they logged our case in. And now at least I can use CEAC to see where it is. My OCD was running rampant in the time between using the USCIS case status website and the CEAC one, I'm an obsessive checker and had nothing to check :D

Hello dear fellow January filers! I have a little math equation for you all:

6 months, 1 week & 2 days + 1 congressman + 1 senator + persistent calling = 1 APPROVAL!!  :joy:

Yay, I got the e-mail and the app notification at 3 this morning! It's exactly 181 days from NOA1 to NOA2. Was starting to think it would never come, now I'm in utter shock and am extremely excited of course!! It's been 5 working days since the senator's office called the USCIS, so I'm thinking that had a little something to do with it :innocent:

TSC is on the move!! ^_^

Wow! Congratulations to everyone with NOA2!! Usually this thread is where I come to moan, be horrified about other people's bad experiences and bask in the warm communal feeling of all being angry about something together  But now it's a happy thread! This just made my day! I'm so thrilled for everyone who got approved  :D #bringitonTSC

P.S. Small update: we sent our info to senator Menendez of NJ and within MINUTES of receiving it they had filed an inquiry with the USCIS! Oh happy day, someone who cares  ^_^

Hey guys. Just got my NOA2!

I got no email, no text message. It just came in the mail (snail mail) today. Approved on July 8th, 2014.

I did nothing special. No calls to senators or congressman. I did put in a service request though, but when I got a reply, it said nothing relevant. I wish you all the best in your wait. I know it can be tough.

That's great, congratulations!! TSC is slowly starting to get somewhere  :joy:

It is horrible, and not much to do about it unfortunately. I have one congressman involved and sent our case to two senators today too. I hope they can help us! It's worth a shot  :hehe:

where do you put in a service request? is that by phone ?

We tried both phone and online: https://egov.uscis.g...equest/Intro.do

Guess we'll just wait till 7 months and try again  :(

so if we filed at the end of january, we still have at least 30 days of waiting?!

:crying:  :clock:   :diablo:   :o

Likely :( We filed January 13th and still nothing. They're rejecting all of our service requests too..  <_<

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 TSC Filers

I am pulling for you, @alissacarly!!! We are approaching the 6 month mark as well, on July 9th. I contacted one Senator who had someone assigned to my case who basically said..."who cares about California? It doesn't pertain to you, and your case is within normal processing time." My case was received by USCIS January 9th, so we have a similar timeline, you and I.  :) I contacted my other Senator who assigned me to a sweetheart who not only e-mailed but CALLED on the same day, asking to fax over the privacy release and the NOA1, because it's definitely NOT OKAY and that they were, in fact, outside of the normal processing time of 5 months. Told her the story of the runaround, the different wait times those reps give you and how the December 3rd is a ploy. She is going to CALL and investigate! I'm hoping to hear good news from my Senator as well! Let us know what happens with your Senator, Alissa!!

You know.....we wait so long, and the fact we have to get Senators involved from so many states on the East Coast, should totally send up a red flag to the higher ups in government! #ThereIsSomethingWrongWithTSC

P.S. Can we please have a service center in one of the great states of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, or Florida? Like a nice fast moving state?  ;) I bet the processing time might be just as fast as Cali.

Thanks!! I'll be sure to post a victorious Braveheart-style battle cry on this thread as soon as I'm approved   Awesome that you were helped so well at the end (sucks how it started off though). Hope it works out and you get approved this week! Keep us all updated :)

Oh, and I vote for a NJ service center too, or anything near that area  :innocent:

We got a letter from the congressman saying he has inquired at TSC about our case and is expecting an answer back soon. Fingers crossed :( It's been almost 6 months, surely it should be arriving soon?!

I bet all of you do the same thing I do: wake up in the morning and immediately check my phone for a notification or e-mail. Or even check it in the middle of the night  And then another 18-25 times during the day..

That's AWESOME, congrats!!  :joy: Seems like there's been a flurry of activity from TSC, about time. I almost passed out on the printer today after receiving a USCIS e-mail, until I saw it was a Change of Address notice for my fiance  whoopsy, should've remembered that  Imagine what I'll do when the real thing comes in..

Did you buy a home already through that realtor? It would only be fair if you did

Lol, yes!  they were having an 'end of deal' lunch because  he's moving into the house she found for us! I guess we just found the most ridiculously expensive way to get official help with our case  ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 TSC Filers

No NOA2 as of yet (5 months on Sunday) but some other exciting news I just wanted to share with people who will understand why it's exciting :) My fiance was having lunch with our realtor today and mentioned that I'm in review at the TSC and he wants to contact the NJ congressman soon and our realtor says (as if it's no biggie): 'oh, he's one of my best friends, let me call him!' and she whips out her cell, calls him directly and asks him to call the TSC for us this week! He's handling our case on Wednesday  I'm jumping up and down right now, hoping this will actually work out  kinda shellshocked

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2014 TSC Filers

I'm getting soooo tired of people asking:

"so when is he coming here for good?"

"when is the wedding?"

"when will your visa be approved?"

"wouldn't it be easier to find someone here?"

"you've done 9 years of this? HOW?"

Ohhh I know exactly what you're talking about! Spot on! My fiance and I work for the same company so everyone at my work knows he's been gone for half a year. And every day I get the same questions: "Why are you still here?" "Don't you want to move to the US?" "Can't you just call the visa center and ask them to approve you?" And the worst comments of all: "It looked much easier on 90 Day Fiancee" and "I have a friend whose work visa was approved in a month, so your visa can't take that long, you must've done something wrong!"

Like a work visa is the same thing  I tell them all the same thing: "I filed 5 months ago and have not been approved yet. If I had, you'd know because you'd have pierced ear drums right now from me screaming"

I just found this topic, it's awesome! All the approvals in the regular 'January K-1 filers' thread were bumming me out  <_< It's been 4 months and 2 days since my NOA1, I'm starting to get excited about the 22nd of June, when my fiance is going to call the UCSIS and hopefully put in a service request. I really doubt I'll be approved by then anyway, since they haven't touched my file since January..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUS citizen has to move after NOA1

Hi Nadja, the change of address form online works for the petitioner too. My fiance used it last week to change his address in the US. Just make sure to select that the info being changed is for the petitioner and it will all work out :) It's here: https://egov.uscis.g...ddressChange.do

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of support for couple living together overseas

Hi Nikki smile.png I guess I don't have much advice to offer you, and I see you've gotten plenty of useful advice anyway! But I just wanted to say I went through the same situation. My fiance were together for 3,5 years in the same country before we filed for the K-1, but in order to fill out the Affidavit, he needed a US job and such. So he got a job there, moved back alone, bought assets, put all his money in savings, got a pension plan and life insurance and we are now going to be able to use all this for the Affidavit. It's really hard being away from each other, so I know exactly how you feel about him moving alone! But it does help knowing that the process will go faster this way smile.png And before you know it, you're back together!

So if your fiance does have to move back without you, I wish you a lot of strength and good luck, I'm sure you would get through it! And if he doesn't have to move, even better wink.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance visiting restrictions after K1 visa is issued

Hi Lisaashley! I'm pretty sure you can only enter the US once after you get your K-1 visa and that counts as the start of the 90 days. I found this on another visa website (and the US government website also says the same thing): 'The K-1 visa allows a fiance(e) to enter the U.S. one time only. If your fiance(e) leaves the U.S after entering with a K-1 visa already approved, he (she) may not re-enter on the K-1 visa'.

I think before the visa is approved, you're allowed to enter as a visitor, but only if you can prove that you're really intending to go back to your country after the visit, as otherwise they will think you're trying to stay illegally.. I was thinking of visiting my fiance before getting approved, but I'm not going to risk it.. :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 application for The Netherlands to Fort Wayne, IN

Haha, I started agonizing quietly at first, but after 3 months and the 200th question of 'Why haven't you moved yet? It surely can't take this long?' I started to rail against the system so that people would realize it's really out of my hands

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of Address for Beneficiary - Before NOA2

My fiance, who is the beneficiary just moved too. I saw there was a link online about change of address. Is it easier to do it that way or just call?

I think both ways are fine :) online might be a little quicker cos you don't have to wait on hold, but it's really whatever you prefer doing!

AlissaCarlyFemaleNetherlands2014-07-08 16:08:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of Address for Beneficiary - Before NOA2

Hi there! You should probably do it now, just to make sure the right address is listed. Otherwise the papers might go to the wrong address after NOA2. It really doesn't take that long, my fiance's address was changed by them 4 hours after we filled in the change of address form online :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice report translation

Might be true! I wouldn't really know about other consulates unfortunately.. I know they do speak and read Dutch at the Amsterdam consulate, but it could vary per country.

AlissaCarlyFemaleNetherlands2014-07-30 14:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice report translation

Hi there! I think you should be okay with the Dutch one. On this website (http://travel.state....fiance-k-1.html) it says the following:

'Note: Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned.'

I also have a friend who went through the whole process and her forms were in Dutch too. No problem at all for her :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of address notification - Super Speedy!!

Awesome isn't it? :) My address change was done in a few hours. I just wish NOA2 had been processed as fast as the change of address was, then we wouldn't all have had to wait half a year

Hope the rest of your journey continues just as smoothly!

My scanned passport photo wasn't accepted because of quality, but then I had the photo place mail the photo to me and that worked! Just a tip in case your scanned one gets rejected too. Hope it doesn't, good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquick question.

Yeah, I second that. We never sent my passport page or copy of birth certificate along with the package, and we were approved without problems. I'll be bringing those to my interview :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Visa Processing

Unless you have some special circumstances it's do-able to figure it out without legal help :) Of course it's your choice, but based on my own experience (using VJ, Google and talking to people who did it before me) I was approved without legal help. Sometimes it's a search to find all the info you need, but I'm sure you'll get there!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI129f approved, what's next?

Ahh I just Googled them now, they are the AOS ones. I haven't quite started looking at that, since the post-NOA2 stuff had me in a panic  ^_^ But I'm sure the senior members here know more about that. Good luck with everything! And if you have any questions you can ask, I have the process fresh in my mind now

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI129f approved, what's next?

Ehmm honestly I don't know what those are..? Are those AOS fees? I paid one visa fee after I finished the DS-160 and that was all. It was the visa administration fee. I've been approved now, so I guess I did it right

AlissaCarlyFemaleNetherlands2014-09-16 17:08:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI129f approved, what's next?

You mean the Affidavit of Support example? Yeah it is, I used that too :) The K-1 chart is good, but my case went faster than that for some reason. Time from approval till it was at the embassy was 2 weeks and 3 days, which is really good! My fiance called the NVC a working week after it was sent there and we got the case nr. I'm sure you'll do fine

AlissaCarlyFemaleNetherlands2014-09-16 16:59:00

They will log it in (which may take a few weeks), create a new case number that you can check on the CEAC website and send your file to the embassy. Then you'll receive all further communication from the embassy :)
