Update:

Finally Wify was able to go to the Italian Consualte for the 10th times and they accepted her application. They said that it will be ready in about 10 days. So I am going ahead to but flight ticket.

I am buying one for here from San Diego to Berlin and Berlin to San Diego and she will only use the flight back. Some people said its fraud but I can't find anything in this regard.

We are going to Naples and then we will go to berlin and come back together.

Any comments will be cool. devil.gif

buying a round trip ticket in most cases is definately cheaper...no doubt...but, if i am not mistaken, you can only get away with that when and if the first "leg" of the trip is used and not the second...i am sure someone else can correct me if i am wrong (which has only happened once when i filled out a I-864 way back in sept. of 2008)...nimche, congrats bro...we are all getting close to INTERVIEW time, i'm kinda getting a little anxious for the upcoming date...this whole ride through immigration citizenship has been hell to say the least...what is everyone else planning on bringing to the interview???? pics, phone cards, emails...etc???

To my interview I'll be bringing our our wedding photo book, birthday/anniversary/valentine's day cards, flight itineraries, moneygram receipts, and 14 months worth of phone records showing 1-4hr conversations nearly every day. Only thing I'm a little concerned about is post-wedding pictures of the 2 of us. We have exactly 5, and 2 of those are practically the same, so technically only 3 (yeah we're a little camera shy). I figure with everything else it shouldn't be a huge issue. Would be nice if we had more, but 3's better than 0, right?

i was never smart enough to save my flight tickets, but am relying on my passport stamps to verify that....I saved maybe half of all the phone cards used to call her, which is quite ALOT...we also have emails, greeting cards sent to each other and out of the 600+ pics, 325 pics we plan on bringing to the interview...375 if you want to take in to factor the other pics that are "for our eyes only" devil.gif ...we wont talk of the videos devil.gif devil.gif

We were super nervous before the interview, hubby went with me too and we brought a bag full of pictures from Sil's 12 trips to Peru so you can imagine how many we had,all the cards that we sent to each other, our wedding album (the official one), th wedding DVD , we printed emails from 3 years and I'm talking about 5 emails a days (aprox) but you don't need to bring all that stuff, the Consul just asked us for 3 PICTURES!!!! and we chose the ones from our engagement, our wedding in Lima with both families and a pic of the Honeymoon. Sil didn't bring the tkts, he showed his passport and all the stamps.

I know how are you are feeling right know, I didn't sleep well for days before the interview but try to be relax when you got to the Embassy it's really easy, our interview lasted maybe 5 minutes, we prepared for the long waiting. good.gif

quick update : i received the actual appointment letter in the mail on the 20th, she recieved her's on the 23rd, the day after i left... was kinda hoping to be there to do the medical exam with her, but will be there for for the inteview on the 4th...i have been fortunate enough to been able to visit Peru alot, but even with that, the long distance relationship has had it's trying moments...my hats off to those who struggle through this never ending tourture of being away from those who you want to be closest with, without so much as a single touch in months, or maybe years...calling cards are a fixture of my life, something i have become accustomed to these days...some people go to the store to scratch off lottery tickets, i go to the store to scratch off calling cards...i win every time............and so does my verizon wireless!!!...lol...i just want to thank everyone for all the support, help and confidence i recieved from this thread with getting through NVC...Nimche...Ling...Chd...etc...and everyone else...THIS THREAD ROCKS !!!!

I feel you, I'm peruvian and my hubby passed through that, the whole long distance relationship, the thousands of dollars on phone cards, the continuos trips to Peru, money here, money there, but it's worth it, soon you will have your wifey/fiance with you here in the USA and you will remember these days as part of your love story. Hang in there and good luck in the interview!

Hi there!

We got married in Peru almost 4 years ago, OMG time flies, we hired a wedding planner because we both were busy working, tell your fiance to check websites like NOVIAS PERU, our wedding planner was awesome, she helped us with every detail and it is a great idea to get married in Peru because weddings in the US are extremyl expensive.
We had about 180 people invited to our wedding, my husband's family attended our wedding too. Sendi me a PM and I can give u some info about our wedding planner.

take care

Hi Mandy!!!

I'm Ivy and I'm in NYC since last july, thank you alot for the info. It's funny 'cause there are alot of peruvians in this city and once a month I go with my hubby to a peruvian area not so far from my house (about 40 min driving). We miss the food so much, we always order ceviche, jalea, churrasco a lo pobre, tallarines verdes, anticucho, Inca Kola, chicha morada, and after that we go to visit some "bodegas" to get Sublimes,Triangulos,Dona Pepa,Tejas de chocolate,Sorrento,Cua-cua, Duraznos dos caballos (I know is not peruvian, but is soooo good!!) Inca Kola, Silvio loves the Sublime so we buy a box each and everytime we go there ($22) but we decided to ask my mom to send it to us 'cause in Peru is less expensive ($5).

Thanks for the info angain...

I found out that prices for the reception are unbelievable, about $120 per person!!!!!, before my wedding I checked alot of prices on line and I had a heart attack (crazy prices).
Try to find a DJ that plays alot of latin music (we love to dance  ) .. and don't forget the Pisco Sour!!!!

Hi..
I forgot to tell you that the only big difference that I saw between the weddings in Peru and the wedding in the States are the important role that the bridemaids and groomen play. In latin weddings the father stays next to the bride during the ceremony at the church, in my case we decided to have my Maid of Honor next to me and Sil had his cousin/best friend next to him (you can see that in one of my pictures).
After the ceremony we went directly to the photo session, and after that the reception, you can choose the song you want to dance, In our case we like "I love you" from Marc Anthony. We didn't dance with all the family (to long) and we didn't sit with our parents, we had one table just for my close family (parents, grandaparents) and one for his family from the States. Our table was in the center -head table.
We follow the traditions :

*Toss the bouquet
* Toss the garter belt
* Cutting of the cake
+ Toast by my dad and his dad (lots of tears :crying: )

Are you planning the wedding by yourself??? Wow!!!! here we needed a wedding planner to help us. I'm sorry for being so curious but why don't you get married in Peru??? I know you can save alot of money (weddings in the States are too expensive).
. Where are you planning to go for your Honey Moon?>??

Hi Mercury Road.....
I got married almost 2 years ago in Peru, big wedding- and my husband's family went to Peru they had a great time. The weddings are very similar to the weddings in the States.

We didn't wear any custom or anything like that but we had a folkloric group (peruvian) that played some religious music at the church, they played some typical instruments as the "quena, charango, guitarra, bombo, cajon" , was awesome and everybody loved it (L) .
For the reception we had a lot of "Pisco Sour", "Algarrobina" both peruvian drinks that I'm sure you love. The wedding gifts for all our guests were CD'S that we prepared with music in spanish and english, I included some peruvian singers in the list. And of course we played alot of peruvian music as "festejo" that everybody love in my country.
Well I you need more advices just let me know...
Hugs

I left alot of my stuffs in my house 'cause my parents didnt' want me to take everything.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaPeru - Any tips 4 the interview??
Don't be nervous 'Cause if you are nervous they will sense it.
I with went with my hubby almost 2 years ago and to be honest I didn't see the guy with glasses. An old nice lady from interviewed us and she ask simple questions, it's funny 'cause we brought a big bag full of e.mails, cards, photo albums, our wedding dvd but she only ask for two so we showed her one of our wedding pic with both families in the church and the other one of our Honey Moon. Then she ask how did we meet??? when??? If I ever applied to a Visa (no)how many have Sil visited me??? and she was in shock when Sil told her that she visited Peru 11 times. That's it, after she gave me a pink paper and told me that my Visa was approved . The famous interview lasted less than 10 minutes.
One week later I left my country..... snif, snif.

From what I heard all what you need is GOOD LUCK, my parents brought documents from their jobs, their pay checks (they both have decent salaries),documents from the house, cars, bank account, saving account statements, documents from my brother and sister university, an invitation letter from us and alot of good energy.
According to my mom they saw alot of people being denied so they were a little bit nervous about that but they were very lucky and a nice guy interviewed them, he just ask for my parents paychecks, letter from their jobs, the invitation letter (he read and check something in the computer, I guess my status in the States) he asked them if its the first time that they applied for a Visa (yes) and if they have family in the States (just me) .My parents told them that they want to come here to visit me and that I'm married to a US citizen. That's it, no questions fro my brother or sister a simple CONGRATULATIONS YOU GOT YOUR VISA!!!!!

Hope it help you.......
I continue with the celebration

Actually Maria Reina's chapel is right behind the church, its located in front of Ovalo Gutierrez, is a very commercial area, there's a Chilli's, Friday's, E.Wong, you can't miss it. The priest's name was Edward (60's) a really cool priest. There are two main avenues, Conquistadores and Santa Cruz.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaMarriage in Peru????
We got married in Peru (both ceremonies) and as Mercuryroad said it's very difficult to have a religious ceremony without having a civil ceremony first, I visited several churches and all of them said no, so my husband had to go to Peru and we attended the classes at the church (precana??) for 1 entire week during March. I'll recommend you to check MARIA REYNA CHURCH-San Isidro, they have a beautiful chapel and the priest speaks english so you can have a bilingual ceremony we had the CIVIL ceremony right after the religious one that was the only way the allowed us to have the religious c first.
Good luck
