K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan the case be tracked
QUOTE (pushbrk @ Sep 21 2008, 11:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (lili&kai @ Sep 21 2008, 08:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I found on another post how to do it:
- go to dhl.com
- go to track by reference
- put "EXP 17 SEP 2008A" (for example)
=> you'll get the list of packages sent by the NVC (Porthmouth) to everywhere in the world that day.
so as far as I understood it is the code NVC use for the package they send.. In our case we noticed they were only one package sent to France around that date and there's no other French couple that got a NOA2 lately so we assume it's ours.

if you have a number u may as well try to track by number on the dhl website.

in any case this seems to be a pretty quick part in the whole process so the embassy will probably reach u soon. I wouldn't call them since they charge 15 euros at the embassy in Paris, but if yours is free yes why not!

bye and good luck with tracking your case smile.gif

Lili&Kai

You will not have a tracking number because that information is not available. You can assume your case is in any package you choose but VJ members are not the only people with cases getting approved and multiple cases are usually in the same shipment under the same tracking number. Trying this can be fun but I repeat, you'll never really know which tracking number relates to your package. You might guess right but you won't "know".

The case cannot be tracked. You can track packages sent near the time you think your case might have been shipped. It's not the same thing.

Well you are right . You cant track your case but you can track the package. I did what Lili&Kai did. And the only package sent to Peru was mine (i assummed that) but i was right because i called 3 days later and they gave me the interview date. Kim helped me with the tricks to track the package. Good luck!!!!!!

Yes, wait until you have the NOA2. Some police records are good for 90 days (at least in Peru) so you wont want to do it all over again. THe medical exam should be done when you receive your package. There is a form enclosed that you have to take with you for the medical exam. Dont get panicked yet!!!! and good luck with the rest of your journey!!!! good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVacinations and Immunisations
It depends on the consulate. I went to my medical exam yesterday. I was very worried because I couldnt find my vaccination record. Finally I found it, i had all my shots (the ones you have when you're a baby). However, i didnt have the Hepatitis B and influenza so I got the shots. When I went to my medical exam, the nurse told me they only needed the MMR and tetanus. The rest I could keep it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 question
Well i can tell you something from my own experience. Call NVC and talk to a live operator. You will have to be very patient because the line is very busy. The operator will ask for your case number and dates of births of petitionary and beneficiary, and of course your names. Then the operator will tell you when your approval was sent to NVC and when your approal was sent to your consulate. Then the operator will give you a new case number. I would suggest you to wait for one week (in my case i waited only 4 days , the american consulate in Lima) andcall the consulate, they will ask you for the NEW CASE NUMBER and if your package is there, they will give you the interview date.
In my case, the lawyer was useless. So do it yourself. You are very close to the end of your journey!!!

Good luck!!!!

Hey
We applied for our K-1 in january, 2007. We had our interview in June 07, were approved, and just got approved for the two year conditional green card this month here in Portland, OR.
My husband grew up in a very poor section of Lima and did not have any schooling past high school, except a few months of english classes before we left peru. We had no problems because of any of that. They did't ask for any documentation regarding education. Provided you have a genuine, loving relationship, you should have no problem getting your K-1 approved at the Lima Embassy.
Do read the K-1 guides, as other members have indicated. That will help you so much in getting the paperwork together. good luck!

Oh my good! that was quick..I am so excited for you and hopefully we don't have trouble in the process.

I saw you sent your NOA1!!! congratulations!!!! now it's just a matter of time to wait for the approval....by february wow.gif good luck!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Visa Perú Questions
No, not at all. My fiance submitted the I129F in June and my I129F was approved by the first wekk of September (which was earlier than we expected. According to my timeline, i should receive my approval between September 26th and October 3rd). I received my package on September 25th and my interview will be on October 10th!!!!!!. As soon as you get the approval, everyhting comes pretty quick. The long waiting is just the approval of the NOA1, approx 4 months, hopefully earlier than that.

Good luck with your journey!!!!!

Hi vj!! my fiance and i are on the I-129f. we have all the proof of having met in person and photos and letters that are needed for question 18 of I-129f but we're confused. do we need to send all evidence our photos and letters and airline ticket? how many should we send if we send just a copy not the originals? another thing.. on the question 18 how should it be done is it written in a form of a letter? unsure.gif

the G-325a do we have to send it with the I-129f too?

Ok let me see.... my fiance sent only three pictures (i almost killed him rofl.gif because i sent him a bunch of pictures) he also sent some emails. Keep the rest of the pictures and more evidence for later (the interview). He also sent the airline ticket so ask him to make a copy (i almost killed him too when i asked him for the copy and he forgot rofl.gif ). About question 18, he attached the info in a form of a letter.
And yes, you need to send both forms. Remember, G-325 are 4 copies so send them all.

Good luck! biggrin.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance had an SSN, do we need to put that info on the G325A??
QUOTE (Riscana @ Oct 14 2008, 08:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all, I'm new! Just starting this long, long process.

I met my fiance when he was in the US five years ago going to school. He got a job while he was here on his student visa and thus got a Social Security Number and card. They're not technically valid anymore since he left in July 2003 and hasn't been authorized to work in the States for any other reason since then. But I'm just wondering if any of you have come across a situation like this and whether or not you listed their old SSN on the forms? I hear SSN's pretty much stay with you for life so he'd be in the system with that number. I just don't want the USCIS thinking he's already somehow authorized to work here when he obviously is not.

The other issue with this is that he lost the information and card (haha) and he thinks it's somewhere buried in a file at his parents house, but if we can't find it, we're not sure there's any way TO find it short of me calling up the Social Security Administration (would they even give me the number since it's not MY number?).

Anyway, this is becoming increasingly more confusing-sounding but my main question is:

1. Do we need to put his old SSN on the G-325A form?

And if so,
2. Does anyone know how we might obtain this information if he can't find it?

Much, much thanks. My brain feels like it's about to explode trying to figure out all this paperwork!

-Marisa

You should put the SSN, I have a SSN and worked with authorization while I was in USA (I studied). I had no problems, no RFE, nothing and I got the visa.....it's better to put everything, they will find out eventually....good luck!!!

I am sorry to hear that. She can stay for 90 days as far as I know. If she decides to go home when she wants, it is up to her to become illegal. You can write a letter to USCIS explaining the situation so you wont be responsible for whatever she does in the future. That's what I would do.....what do you guys think about it???

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshiring an attorney?
When my husband applied for me with the k1 visa, he hired an attorney thinking it would be easier. She charged him about $1,000 for the process and it wasn't worth it. I found out about this site and I talked to my husband about all the process and the paperwork. She didn't help us at all. She downloaded the same forms you can do it here; there are sample forms which you can easily follow.
Sometimes my husband asked me what the next step was because everytime he wanted to talk to the attorney, he just left messages.
When I started the Adjustment of Status process we did it ourselves, it saved us another $1,000 approx. We followed the guidelines and we didn't received any RFEs so far. I have my EAD and my AP, so now i am just waiting for my Green Card.
Unless your case is extremelly difficult, I recommend you to do it by yourself....GOOD LUCK!!! wink.gif

They take blood to test two things: VIH and another one that I dont remember. The x rays to check your lungs. And the doctor will check your eyes, your pressure, etc. A medical check up. Plus the vaccinations; if you have your vaccination record is perfect. If not, you should need to get some shots.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI have a huge doubt!!!
Hello
I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question. I got my conditional green card in July of this year. I am extremely happy because i won't deal with UCSIS for the next 2 years. My husband is American (obviously) and his parents are Irish. He plays the drums in a bagpipe band and next year he and the band are going to Scotland to compete in the world's bagpipe bands competition. He's very excited to participate there, his parents are going also and my husband wants me to go with him.....NOW, I have a conditional green card but I am Peruvian. Do I need to apply for a visa to go to Scotland, even though I have an American gren card? My husband and his parents told me I don't need a visa, only my green card but they don't understand that even though I have a green card, I am still Peruvian....can anybody help me with this???? Thank you so much in advance good.gif

I received my new SScard yesterday woo hoo!!!! And let me tell you that the new one has the date of issuance (03/01/2010), the old one didn't have that.

Well today I went to SS Administration and I changed or updated my card.
Susita, it didn't take me that long. Of course when I opened the door and I saw like a hundred people in the waiting area I almost walked away but since I wanted to change the information, the waiting wasn't that bad. I think I waited 15 or 20 minutes. I never said I was married, I just showed my green card and the guy proceeded to change the information. He told me I will receive a new card (same number) without that famous sentence. But he kept the card. He gave me a letter saying I would receive my new card within two weeks.
So it was easy!!!
