K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEmployment Verification Letter
QUOTE (ScottnCati @ Dec 26 2007, 09:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All

I am gathering all my I-134 documentation now and the Letter of Employment/salary verification I will receive form my Company will not come with the Company Letterhead logo and information. Apparently they receive this from a third party vender...

Can I still submit this, or will I need to transcribe this information onto a document with the company letterhead and have my Boss sign it?

Thanks for your help,

Scott

I would find a way to get that logo. It ask for it and from what I have seen in the past you want to always give what they ask for so they have no reason to ask for more info. I would just get a piece of paper and print the logo on it then have your boss enter the info then sign. Remember to much info is always better then not enough.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAirport Fees?
QUOTE (Vann @ Jan 5 2008, 08:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello! My filipina fiance is finally flying in to me this January 18th and at the end of this month we're getting married! smile.gif

Here's is my situation. I bought her a ticket from Vayama.com and she is going to the airport to get her ticket.

However, several people on this forum keep mentioning there are two different fees for her to pay: An airport security tax and a terminal fee.

What are these exactly, does she pay for them at the front counter, and does she have to pay these in pesos?

She can pay in US dollars or Pesos but you may want to have her check on it from home before she goes. I have been there 4 times now and paid 750 pesos when I was just there in September. Take a look at this link http://www.gov.ph/aboutphil/vinfo.asp its for the I got the below info from it.

Airport Fees: P750 for international departure or its US dollar equivalent as of March 10, 2007, $15.50 US dollars; and P200 for local departure (paid in Philippine pesos only). Departing passengers for international destinations are advised to check with airport or tourist information counters (Tel. Nos 524-1703; 832-2964) The departure fees may change without further notice.

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat Made You Choose The K-1 Visa Instead Of the Spouse Visa?
QUOTE (MikaG @ Jan 7 2008, 12:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi, I'm new to this forum and to this whole immigration thing.

This question is for those U.S. citizens who were not married when they had to choose between one of the four types of marriage based immigration visas to get their sweetheart here w/ them in the U.S.

What made you choose the fiance visa instead of the spouse visa? Why didn't you want to get married first and then apply for a spouse visa like the K-3 or DCF if applicable.

Thanx,
**Mika

Spouse visa takes a little longer and the fiancee visa gives you 3 months together after she gets to the US. I know all of us love the one we will be with but you just never know until you actually spend time together everyday for a few months not just 2 or 3 weeks at a time a few times a year. I have been to see my fiancee a few times this year and know I love her but some may need the extra time together to know

The 31.00 is not the point. Point is the fees keep going up and the process still takes so long. The US can spend so much money on a war that should have never been our problem and use our taxes to do it. Then charge us so much to be with the ones we love and make the process so long

I was wondering the approximate time gap between being aproved at the interview and her being able to leave the country. I can only stay for about 2 weeks so I wasnt sure if it was long enough.

Im doing the samething. 2 weeks will be long enough for you so dont worry. just get there the day before the interview and you will be ok

I will be driving two hours to the airport to pick her up. We're getting married on January 28th, our two year anniversary of meeting each other! smile.gif

I'm very excited and worried at the same time--I hope she will make it here OK.

Just thought I'd shout for joy! WOOHOOOO!!!!

After so much agonizing wait, filing and thousands and thousands of dollars in plane tickets and embassy fees, my baby is finally coming to me for good! smile.gif

I know how you feel. I am going to see my baby soon for the 3rd time in 10 months. Congrats for you and her

The wait has been so long and agonizing, to say the least. It's so surreal to think it is almost over!

Everything I've dedicated the past two years of my life toward is about to culminate!

HEE HEE! biggrin.gif

I know, I'm overexcited, LOL!

I've been reading other people's posts and it seems that most everyone else has recieved their NOA2's!! even people who filed after me. I want to punch a wall.. *sigh*. Its been so long already...

Is there ANYONE else waiting for their NOA2 who recieved their NOA1 in october or earlier? I think im really the last one left in the dust. I've been forgotten. great. I should have sprayed the paperwork with perfume or something right? or put little sparklies on the paper or something? anything to make them want to get back to it quicker... sad.gif

Nice words both of you, but my question is this...do you think the government gives a #### about this kind of problem? The war, the economy...etc etc.
We might as well blame this on 911 in my opinion. In the past a fiance visa was the quickest way possible to come over...now everything has changed.
I have made 4 trips to Europe in 6 months to be with my love and you know I have more problems with passport control here than anywhere.
It's a damn shame. You have to be strong in this process and with some help from above the light will come.
Best wishes

I agree 100%. They dont give a s--t about the feelings we have for others. They get in office and dont care about anything. The current president is an A-hole and stupid as a rock. The US spends so much money on other countries and our own country has to suffer so much. The American dollar is at its lowest in many years. The first time in 50 years the Canada dollar was worth more then the US dollar. My point is if they cant fix things like this then they wont care about little people like us. It would be great if we could get lots of people to call. People from Cuba touch US soil and they get to stay. People from Mexiaco get sent back if they come, just need to find a safe and better way for everyone. They rates for so many forms went up so much in July and they say they hired 1000's of people to help make the process faster but the interview date I have in VJ has had about 3 weeks time added to it in just about a week or so. Goodluck everyone

It's almost almost 7 months this January still we dont have NOA2..What do you think are the best expection that we will going to have for this?

Thank you so much of your help. God bless to every couple in here..

You will get a better result if you call your local Congress person. I know someone who called a local Congress person and they found out the case was checked in and sitting on someone desk. This congress person even took the time to go into the office on Christmas Eve and then called my friend. (wont get that much) but anyway it will help you because they have people to call direct.

QUOTE (LoveMyAussie @ Dec 2 2007, 09:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi everyone,

I'm sorry about this little rant....

As you can see by my sig, we just got our NOA2 approval. We've been apart for 5 months already during this stretch, and before that, we were lucky to see each other 2 weeks out of the year for the last 3 years. It is very hard, as many of you know. What is even harder is that this time, we have an infant. We made the agonizing decision, once we found out I was pregnant, to wait till he was born to file the I129f, because we didnt want to take the chance that things would get tied up to the point where it might have been difficult for him to re-enter the US for the birth while our case was pending. So, he's been away from his little baby for the last 5 months.

I know many of you can relate to the pain of simply being away from your sweetie for months and months on end, and I know many of you can also relate to having children separated from one parent for months and months on end.

So, here comes my rant....

After all of this, with friends and family knowing darned well how long we're always separated for, when we finally get some good news (the NOA2 being approved), we barely get any kind of response. A gentle "hey, grats" is about the extent, and some people could not even muster that much!

I agree with Adam. I ws also married before and my Filipina Fiancee is amazing. The feelings I have for my Filipina Fiancee are so much more then my ex wife. It an amazing feeling when you really find true love. We all have such a long wait but when the time comes and my Fiancee gets to the US the long wait will be worth it.

How can these people claim to care so much about me/us, and see me/us suffer for so long, and not seem to care that this waiting is getting closer to being over?

If people have not been thru this, they simply cannot fathom how painful it is to be separated from the one we love. What's funny is, these same people miss their SO when they go away for a weekend or a week, or they commplain when their SO works too many hours in one week...and I want to say "At least you can see your SO at some point during the week! I've been apart from my SO for 5 months, and last year we were separated for nearly the entire year!". They just cannot fathom it, or do not attempt to think about it I guess?

Anyone else get frustrated at stuff like this? ranting33va.gif

They will never understand it.

They will also never have the amazing bond with their SO that we will.

I was married once before for almost 8 years... and I can say that the most intimate of moments I had with my local ex-wife do not even come CLOSE to comparing to even the casual moments I have had with my filipina fiancee.

It's a completely different world to experience the "true love" sensations that people like ourselves have found.

My advice is not to worry about what others think. Focus on yourself and your SO and worry only about what you think.

In the minds of others, they think only a few thoughts: "Mail-Order", "Desperate", "Crazy." They use these imaginings to cover up their jealousy--which will be further confirmed when you are finally together WITH your SO and they see your happiness for themselves--then they'll wonder why they can't experience the same love the two of you share... full of trust, fidelity, commitment and appreciation!

I look forward to spending the next 50+ years with my mahal.

-Adam and Arlyn

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRecieved RFE
[quote name='raisan29' date='Jan 3 2008, 01:46 PM' post='1459763']
Alright I recieved my first RFE for more evidence of having met in the past year. I can send a copy of my military orders as evidence as the RFE states, but my problem is that I will have no evidence of my fiancee having been in Korea, she worked there for two years and is from the Philippines. After she returned to the Philippines she had to get a new passport and no longer has the old one that had the stamps in it.

Basically, I've come to the realization that I will have to make a trip to PI to visit her, but I'm curious how that works. Will I have to re-submit a visa application and start this whole process over again? Of course I'm going to have her look in every nook and cranny of her house for a shred of evidence she was in Korea during the same time frame, but barring that I'm thinking it's going to get denied:(

She has to have some kind of proof she was working there or why she was there. The Philippines has to have some kind of record of her going there

Hello all,

I heard about the RFE Trick, but I do not know what is the purpose of that?

Can anyone explain it to me.

Thank you.

With the RFE trick you'll be able to speak with a breathing person on the phone:

* 1 for English,
* 2 for main menu,
* 2 for reporting an issue,
* 4 for more evidence,
* then 2, 1,
* then entered our case number (with the WAC at the beginning, that is 922+10 digits).

I need to try this. We have never been touched and we filed in Oct 2007
* then it took us to a representative in the service center.

For the VERMONT Service Center, follow these steps...

1-800-375-5283

* 1 for English,
* 2 for main menu,
* 2 for reporting an issue,
* 4 for more evidence,
* then 2, 1,
* then entered our case number (with the EAC at the beginning, that is 322+10 digits).
* then it took us to a representative in the service center

Good luck!

Is there anyone who went alone and it went well?? is it better to go with your partner?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNewfangled Employment Verification @ my Company?
[quote name='flyguy26' date='Feb 5 2008, 10:04 AM' post='1556672']
As the petitioner, I know that I am supposed to get a verification of my employment and salary. Trouble is, my employer is a large company in a volatile industry (airlines) and has contracted out everything it can, including employment verifications! The company they are using is called The Work Number (http://www.theworknumber.com). I'm supposed to give whoever needs this information a "salary key" and my "employer code" so that they can pull it up themselves.

Has anyone had any experience with this ridiculous system? Would the Embassy (in Frankfurt) or the US Department of Homeland Security, USCIS use this?

I've spoken to a Customer Service Rep at The Work Number and there is no way I can get this information on myself! wacko.gif The "verifier" needs to request it and the US Dept. of Homeland Security is registered in their system.

Is this going to be a problem? Can't my recent paycheck stubs and my tax returns suffice?

Any help on this score would be appreciated.

I work for a worldwide company and The Work Number is also used. Had to contact HR and ask for employment verification and explained to them it was needed for immigration. The Work Number will not work for your process so dont use it

No need to copy and paste is Yahoo IM. When you are done chatn before you close the chat box click on CONVERSATION then SAVE AS, then name the chat the date you chated and then it will be at the top of the page when you print it later. This way you will have the date for each chat on the top of each page which is good to show ongoing relationship. I created a folder before and just name it after my fiancee and then save all of our YM chats there. Then print 2 or 3 from each month just to show ongoing relationship. At the very least I would make sure to fly to whatever city she has POE to be there if she needs to call you. I sent Tmobile sim card to my Fiance to put in her cell phone when she gets off the plane in the US. (Make sure her phone works in the US before she leaves) I will not activate prepaid service for her until a few days before the interview so its still active when she arrives. All of this is only if I cant go back for her interview. (I have been to Makati 3 times in 10 months already), just have to wait and see if I can get off work again. If you are worried I would not have her fly to LAX its very busy. I just got back from Makati and flew from Las Vegas with a short stop in Korea then to Manila. Las Vegas international terminal is very small with only one bagage claim so it would be much less confusion for her. If you watch Spirit Airlines they always have good prices from Florida to Vegas with the 9 dollar club. Southwest is another low cost airline from there. Not sure what city you are in but I used to live in Orlando and always used these 2 airlines when flying to Las Vegas 2 times a year for vacation. Hope this helps and goodluck.

If you are going to the United States it doesnt matter where your POE is. Just need a flight to a US airport that has POE into the United States. Check to see if you have a direct flight to your city, if not you will need a 2nd flight from your POE

You might want to talk with your plan coordinator. Many of them will let you include a "significant other."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBest time to vist fiance in Philippines
I agree with the long process its nice to go again in a few months. I went to see my fiance in the Philippines in September 2007 and just got back from going the 2nd time from Jan 28th to Feb 15th so we could spend our first Valentines day together. It was nice because I surprised her and arrived 3 days earlier then I told her. I called her from my US cell phone after I arrived (so she would see my US number on her cell phone) and told her I had ordered her something from a store there in a mall and she had to go pick it up. I had already talked with the employees in the store to help surprise her. When she arrived to pick up the gift I walked up behind her and kissed her neck. It was amazing to see her beautiful smile when she relized I was there to see her when she thought I was still in the United States. I might be going back again for her interview but depends on her interview date. If you are staying in Makati or Manila area I have a great contact for condos to rent next to Greenbelt in Makati. I have been there 5 times and its a great location and very safe. Goodluck everyone

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee went home without being married
Dont worry so much. I brought someone to the US in 2004 from the Philippines and we got married then filed for divorce in October 2006. The divorce was final in Feb 2007. I went to the Philippines to see someone in March 2007. I have since went back in September 2007 and Feb 2008 to see her again. We filed for a fiance visa in October 2007 and just got our approval March 3 2008. Just make sure to be honest and explain everything. I would attached something to your paperwork to explain and show your honesty.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting for Notice from NVC
NVC shouldnt ask for anything. You shouldnt have to worry about anything else until your interview packet. It will take a few weeks for the embassy in Manila to get everything from the NVC.

I just looked at the timelines search for Cali for July and there are 158 applications and 20 still don't have their NOA2. I would definitly call my congressman to inquire about the case since most of the July filers have gotten their NOA2

msu17, how do you check that? Can you please give me the website to check it so I can show it to my fiance'. Thank you for the advice as well to Chris... I have no idea about calling the congress person.

Anything to help a VJ'r and a filipina also. I love PI, Just got back from my 3rd trip in 10 months. Cant wait for my fiance to get here. Goodlick and make sure you contact the congress person they will be able to help you.
