Philippines	New Passport Procedures	I have renewed my passport before via phone, they sent a messenger to pick up my old passport and he also the one who deliver a new passport to me, I didn't make an appearance. But that was the old passport version and it didn't need a thumb mark. Now im aware of it and ill keep it in mind. One thing that the DMV instructor suggested was i should get a pedal extender because i am so small that i can't barely reach the pedals if the driver's seat is in normal position. I can adjust the seat and reach the pedals well but im sitting too close to the steering wheel which is very dangerous. So i will redo the test again on November 21. The instructor said that i've been doing well at first, my turns , breaking and lane change are okay but not until we enter the school zone, I could have been issued a $600 ticket. My temporary card will expire on 9/17 and I was just told yesterday that I will have to take a two-week business trip overseas from 9/10 to 9/25. I just cross my fingers to pray that I will get the extension letter before my travel. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to receive the extension letter after you submit ROC package? Thank you so much! My friend received the extension letter after a week she mailed the package..Just pray that you're not gonna receive RFE so it will not extend the wait.. Hi, me and my daughter just renewed our license at the Nevada DMV. It went like a breeze! My daughter didn't even have a formal NOA since she was under my I-751, they only sent her a plain paper letter saying that her green card is extended for a year and it wasn't even signed! Since you have a Nevada license, maybe it would be simpler to take a trip to Vegas and renew it there. Yeah, I'm going back to Nevada at the end of summer to get my licensed renewed. I did call the DMV office there (in Carson City, the ones in Las Vegas don't take calls) and according to the man there, his supervisor stated that if I go to their office (in Carson City), they'd take the NOA. He didn't guarantee that Las Vegas would do the same thing but he also did say that he didn't see any problems with just using an NOA. Heres a really good chicken recipe that we tried a couple years ago and that I found again when going through one of my drawers in the kitchen...gonna have to make it again soon...its from the Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten) Chicken with Forty Cloves of Garlic 3 whole heads garlic, about 40 cloves 2 (3 1/2-pound) chickens, cut into eighths Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper 1 tablespoon unsalted butter 2 tablespoons good olive oil 3 tablespoons Cognac, divided 1 1/2 cups dry white wine 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons heavy cream Separate the cloves of garlic and drop them into a pot of boiling water for 60 seconds. Drain the garlic and peel. Set aside. Dry the chicken with paper towels. Season liberally with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat the butter and oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. In batches, saute the chicken in the fat, skin side down first, until nicely browned, about 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Turn with tongs or a spatula; you don't want to pierce the skin with a fork. If the fat is burning, turn the heat down to medium. When a batch is done, transfer it to a plate and continue to saute all the chicken in batches. Remove the last chicken to the plate and add all of the garlic to the pot. Lower the heat and saute for 5 to 10 minutes, turning often, until evenly browned. Add 2 tablespoons of the Cognac and the wine, return to a boil, and scrape the brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Return the chicken to the pot with the juices and sprinkle with the thyme leaves. Cover and simmer over the lowest heat for about 30 minutes, until all the chicken is done. Remove the chicken to a platter and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of the sauce and the flour and then whisk it back into the sauce in the pot. Raise the heat, add the remaining tablespoon of Cognac and the cream, and boil for 3 minutes. Add salt and pepper, to taste; it should be very flavorful because chicken tends to be bland. I did however get myself a bag of already cut sweet potato fries at Costco, that I will roast along with asparagus to go with our meatloaf tonight.. Easter was roast, salad, and roasted asparagus... tonight Im gonna try a meatloaf recipe that I saw on Oprah from Katie Joel (Billy's wife)... love trying new meatloaf recipes..my husband isnt a big meatloaf fan but I love it.. he will eat it if I add some bacon and cheese to it for him..LOL Katie Joel's Meat Loaf Courtesy of Katie Joel ~"I like to call meat loaf 'man loaf' because it's every man's favorite dish," Katie says. "My husband loves when I make meat loaf, and it makes the best leftovers. We love it the next day on white bread with mayonnaise." Serves 6 INGREDIENTS 1 Tbsp. olive oil 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced (about 3/4 cup) 1 garlic clove, minced 1 medium red pepper, finely diced (about 1 cup) 1 bay leaf 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley 2 tsp. chopped fresh thyme 2 pounds lean ground beef 2 large eggs, lightly beaten 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs 1 cup ketchup 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp. kosher salt 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper Preheat the oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spray lightly with oil. Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onions, garlic and bay leaf until the onions are tender, about 3 minutes. Add the red pepper and cook until the red pepper is tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the parsley and thyme and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove pan from the heat and let the onion mixture cool. Discard the bay leaf. In a large bowl, combine the beef, eggs, bread crumbs, 1/2 cup of ketchup, the Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and the cooled vegetables. Use your hands to mix everything together. Transfer the mixture to the center of the baking sheet and form into a loaf. Coat the meat loaf with the remaining 1/2 cup ketchup.
