PhilippinesCFO Guidance and Counseling Seminar-- Cebu or Manila?
I took my CFO in Manila specifically in SMEF in Quezon City. I haven't had a hard time with it, actually the counselor who interviewed me was very nice.

I guess it will not make any difference if she take the CFO in Manila or Cebu. Just be prepared because they are more concerned especially the younger ladies below 25 yeras old. And as what others said, its a case to case situation.

This is what i did when i went to my CFO. I memorized everything about my fiance, his address, work, birthday, his birthplace, parents names, thier addresses and their birthdays, i also memorized the name of my fiance's ex-wife and the date of their divorce.

It is important to memorized those things because if the counselor ask her about it, she can give them a straight forward answer without looking into the documents. It depends on how you answer the questions.

HELLO EVERYONE!
May I ask what are the chances that my parents, brother and sister could be granted a non-immigrant visa so that they could attend my wedding in hawaii?
Anyone have the same dilemma?
thanks!

Nobody can tell what their chances are, let them apply and we will see. Just be sure that they can establish a strong tie to the Philippines.

my question too! the NSO copies are already on security paper, what more verification do they need???? unsure.gif

They really need to verify because there are cases in the Philippines that there are people submitting fake birth certificates, NBI clearance or even passports.

PhilippinesI-94 questions
QUOTE (nikmia @ Mar 18 2008, 09:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi, I have few questions regarding the I-94 Arrival/Departure Record form. As per written in Sheriff Uling's post:

6.3 The I-94 Arrival / Departure Record form is within my signature. Foreigners (beneficiaries) complete the I-94 and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer stamps the applicant's visa as well as the arrival / departure portions of the I-94 at the Port of Entry (POE) when entering the United States. The CBP Officer will keep the arrival portion and staple the departure portion of the I-94 to beneficiary's visa where they stamped the arrival date. The beneficiary will need this for the Adjustment of Status stage.

Are we going to download this form & fill it up before our flight to the US or are we going to do it at the POE? There's no instruction enclosed in the visa packet regarding this form. Anyone here knows the answer to my query?Just wondering what to do next. innocent.gif

The I-94 form will be given by the flight attendant before the plane land to your Port of Entry. You have to fill it out and present it to the Homeland Security Officer at the Airport together with your passport and Visa packet (the sealed brown envelope from the embassy).

about 5 weeks ago.. My fiancee had their home broken into while they were asleep. Her wallet was stolen along with many other things.

She tell me she has went and got her NBI?

but nothing else replaced..

I wasn't expecting the approval to come so quick, and I had no idea she hadn't replace any of her major ID'S until today..

I just received my MNL# and was planning on calling tonight to get my pin # and make the appointment for the interview.

But she tells me she has to have her PASSPORT to make the medical appointment?

She tells me that it will take 1 week to get her ID and another to get her PASSPORT..

So it appears that I'm not able to even make the interview appointment let alone her medical?

Does anyone out there that live in the Phils have any suggestions on what I/we should do?

I believe I can make the appointment for the interview tonight.. but will I be safe for her to get her ID and PASSPORT in
time to make her medical and then the interview..

its sad to have the MNL # now.. and having to possibly wait for these items..

Any info would be mighty help.

Thank you in advance

I'm sorry to hear what happend. She can still go to Medical even without her passport all she need is 3- 2"x2" pictures but she can't get the result without her passport.

PhilippinesAre you the BIGGEST LOSER?
I've been here for a year, i was 84lbs and 4'11" when i first got here. Me and my husband loved to eat, sometimes we dine out or sometimes we cook at home, we do have a gym membership which we suppose to go 4 days a week but we only use two days of it everyweek. Last summer gained so much weight about 11lbs. and my belly was bulging like a baloon, my outfits that i brought with me from the Philippines didn't fit me anymore. I was devastated, i used to be so skinny, i tried to control my eating habit but i can't, how can you resist american foods?. Well, luckily when fall came i started to shrink and now i'm back to my original size. Its funny you know, eventhough i gained 11 lbs. i can't still fit on american size ladies clothes, so i shopped at children's department. Well, it doesn't matter if we lose or gain weight just feel good about it.

My fiance has a puppy in the Philippines. Do you think we can immigrate the puppy here in the USA? How much will that cost? Is it possible?

Price of the pet depends on the airline and the size/weight. You will have to contact the airlines for actual pet fees on the same flight you are on. If the pet is shipped as cargo, then you're looking at least $2000.

Check this link out for vaccination requirements:

PhilippinesBringing a Pet (When Wife Immigrates) What should I expect and what do I need to satisfy Filipino Customs (etc)
Ray,

The airline will need the dimensions of the kennel and the total weight of the pet + kennel. I have a chow. With her LARGE kennel (32" x 23" x 23"), she cost me almost $500 back in January (b/c the kennel took 2 of the 4 positions). One other note; the pet must be able to stand. They also need the ability to turn around (reasonably) uninhibited.

Make sure your pet space is reserved with the airline. Call them (again) the night before travel. LIVE ANIMALS (pets) as cargo is very expensive... at least $2000!

Good luck,

Jon

PhilippinesShould I attend interview with finacee?

I have been wondering if I should attend my fiancee's interview? If I do how many days after interview will she have visa in hand and be able to come to usa?

You can attend if you want to but its not really neccessary. The Visa delivery depends on where your fiancee lives. If she is living in Metro Manila Area she could get the Visa 3 - 7 working days from the interview date, if she is living in the province she could get it 2 weeks and beyond. you can visit the site of US Embassy in Manila for more info http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3023.html

PhilippinesWhat is Mailed to Embassy Prior to Med Ex & Interview?

QUOTE(Bill B @ Aug 9 2007, 10:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone,

I spent several days (as a guest in the forum) reading through material trying to find the answer to this, my first post. What exactly must my fiancee mail back to the embassy after she receives the packet from them and what does she hold on to from the packet (or forms filled in on line) and hand carry to her medical exam and interview in Manila?

Additionally, their web site mentions a Police Certification. Can you clarify that this is necessary only if the fiancée lived in a foreign country for over 6mo and that for someone who lived in the Philippines all their life, they only require the NBI clearance, correct and not a police clearance from their local province police station?

Best of luck to all of you and thank you in advance for your responses.

Bill[/quote]

You dont have to send anything to the US embassy. She dont need that police clearance anymore. Check this site, there a sample of K-1 Visa Packet (packet 4) in there http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3023.html

PhilippinesDS-156

What do most people put in item 26 of the DS-156? Intended length of stay? The visa is a 90 day visa so should you put 90 days? I wouldn't think you want to indicate forever even if it's known you're going to file an AOS after marriage.

Also what about item 27. The purpose of the trip, it's for marriage?

Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees.

Did you assemble your papers and evidence for the Embassy in a binder, like you did for the I-129F, or just keep them separate and available?

I'm assuming separate, since they will ask for specific items, and may not ask for others.

PhilippinesAny cheap flights out there?

Anyone know of a few sites or Airlines with good deals flying from Manila to Los Angeles? I have checked many already but thought maybe someone on VJ might know of one that I haven't tried. Everything seems to be between $1,000 to $1,250. Some are more.

Thanks,

My suggestion is ,let your fiancee purchase the ticket in the philippines. Its cheaper if the immigrant itself will purchase the ticket. Try PAL (Philippine Airlines) always ask for the lowest rate.

#**** b-* l-** int. maligaya calamansian haccci village caloocan city

Now maybe I am wrong but I don't think the Philippines address are written like that. I asked her to write it out like I would on an evelope but she keeps putting it on one line. Is she correct? I need to mail her the paperwork to sign and I need to make sure the address is right on the paperwok. Yes, you can have medical exam as long as you have the appointment letter from the embassy, but you can get only the result or certification after your passport was released. Just prepare 6 pcs ID picture because they need extra ID picture if you dont have passport.

hi! just a question on purchasing my airline ticket from the Phils. to the US. My fiance's travel agent in the US told him that only immigrants and f1/j1/h1 visa holders will be allowed to purchase one-way tickets. Does this mean that K-1 visa holders (considered a non-immigrant visa, right?) should purchase roundtrip tickets? I'm planning to visit the PAL office this week but might as well hear from you first. Thanks in advance! helpsmilie.gif

That is wrong, K-1 Visa holders are considered immigrants and can purchase one-way tickets. That travel agent is misleading you so that you will purchase roundtrip ticket. I am a K-1 too and i purchase my ticket at PAL and i got the cheapest deal and its one-way.

PhilippinesGoing to have a cruise

My soon-to-be-in-laws booked us a cruise out of excitement (without our knowledge that they already paid it) to Mexico for our honeymoon as their gift. As what I know, K-1 visa is just a single entry and this is the confusion we, my Tony and I are going through now. The cruise will depart from Florida (where we will get married too) going to Mexico which is not a US teritory. I talked to him about the problems might arise if we will take the risk of taking the cruise.

My fiance grew up and spent half of his life in Florida that is why he doesn't like the idea of staying too long in the said state. Hawaii and Puerto Rico are good alternative choices but if we will take this option (HI or PR), will I be fine travelling holding only my passport with K-1 visa (2 days after our wedding)? I do not want to take any chances.

Replies, comments, suggestions and help will be highly appreciated. :)
Julie

You cannot travel outside the USA with your passport with K-1 Visa. Your soon to be in-laws can cancel the booking anytime. I would rather suggest Hawaii dont take chances or else you will be deported. You can file for Advance Parole after you get married but it will take time, if its okay for you to have your honeymoon few months after your wedding.

Good luck!

hi Mae,

what makes me confused on that is not because of the "packet 4" thing.
what makes me confused is their system - the USEMbassy. Because when i called the USE and the girl staff checked their system, she told me that they havent released yet our packet 4. They're still in the process of completion. So, i made a request to send it in St. Lukes than here in our home.
She agreed and even told me to go in St. Lukes by monday to pick -up the packet.
Then, all of a sudden the Packet 4 reached our home this morning..Meaning, this kind of incident shows that we really need to double check the informations we're getting from them.

i hope i made myself clear here blush.gif

alex

its because the girl you are talking with is the "call center operator" and they are only relying at the data on the computer, in your case maybe the data was not updated yet so thats what the girl told you.
