QUOTE (vsmtghdy @ Oct 19 2007, 09:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If this is indeed a bomb and not LPG (from their initial investigations) then I think (personally) it could be a diversion tactics...? They have done it before and for sure they would blame it to the terrorists. It is just sad that they chosed that location and injuring and killing innocent children. That is just unacceptable, for me. (Just my opinion)

With that extent of damage, its a bomb, LPG can't cause that large damage. Somebody may have slipped a bomb on the retaurants delivery truck. Glorietta has tight security on their entrances so they put it on delivery items. Whoever did it they're evil devil.gif. How sad that the victims are innocent people and children. crying.gif ranting33va.gif

Spidergirl ! They are doing a CR or IR ! Different than your visa!
At the same time CENOMAR hasn't been required to send to NVC with all the other documents they require.
At least not for ours!

PhilippinesMoving your cellphone from PI to US
QUOTE (rouguewave @ Oct 22 2007, 09:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Can any of you share what your experiences were regarding the changes in cellphone service, usage, and equipment when you moved from PI to US? This is the latest discussions between honey ko and I. I understand a little of the technology and will be reading and researching more, but just thought I'd ask on the forum to see if there were any particular "nuggets" that members could offer. Things like:

Did you just bring your phone here (US) and sign up for a service, or have to buy a new one?
Any problems getting your cellphone to work with US provider, if you tried?
Did you find (or try to find) a plan that allowed you to exchange txts with Phil friends & family?

If this is covered elsewhere, I apologise for the duplicate. I did a quick look, but didn't see anything specific to this. Thanks.

This my experience. I brought along my phone from PI because as what other told me , if i have the roaming activated i can receive text from my families from PI. When i got here in Las Vegas my phone didn't work at all even with the roaming account activated. International Roaming is not available in this area (that sucks). Second thing is our phone from PI are built with 220V battery pack and the US voltage input is 110V, so when the battery runs out you have way to recharge it. So my phone is setting there inside my drawer, its useless, i can't even take out the phone numbers stored on its phone book. I am using Chikka for texting, for me it costs nothing but it cost 2.50 pesos / text for someone in PI to reply.

PhilippinesReport of Marriage and Passport Amendment
QUOTE (Mike and Jennie @ Oct 30 2007, 12:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Good Day! blush.gif

I came to the US in Febuary 2007 under the K1 Visa petition. My petitioner and I got married in March 2007. I recently got approved for my Lawful Permanent Residency application and am currently waiting for my green card to arrive by mail. My Phillippine passport on the other hand is expiring in November 2007.

My question is: Should I file 3 different applications (3 different forms) and pay 3 different fees for the following:

Report of Marriage
Passport Application (for Renewal)
Passport Amendment (for change of personal information such as maiden name to married name)

I would greatly appreciate your response to this matter. Thanks. blush.gif

Jennie Robin
Eugene, Oregon

Yes you have to pay for every application. If your passport is not yet expired you don't have to file for renewal just the Amendment to Change Name, if its already expired you can renew it and change name at the same time no need for Amendment. FILTERED NAMES
When 'None' or 'NA' are entered into any of the following the fields: 'Other Surnames Used', 'Other First

software from the data in the 2D barcode. If the applicant's name actually is None or NA the post must
enter the name manually into NIV or RDS. The following fields have been removed:
- 'none' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 8 (Other Surnames Used)
- 'none' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 9 (Other First and Middle Names Used)
- 'none' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 14 (National Identification Number)

is it okay to go with it?

I celebrated my first birthday here in US last June. My husband woke me up with a kiss, a dozen roses and a birthday cake. I didn't expect for a celebration because that time we just got married and he spent a lot for the wedding. On the evening he brought me to Olive Garden, i thought it was just a simple dinner for just the two of us, but i was surprized to see all our friends were there. Though my family were not there it was the best birthday i ever had.

No, the Appointment Letter was sent by the US Embassy, its just that the mail delivery in the Philippines sucks, especially if you are in the Province because addresses are hard to find or the delivery persons are too lazy to find the address. Thats why US Embassy sent a copy to the Petitioners.

I know Christmas here is not celebrated the same as in the Philppines. I know whatever I do, for them it will not be the same as being back home. any suggestions for things to do to give it some of the feel of a Christmas in the Philippines?

Yes you're right whatever you will do it will never be the same as being back home. So why don't you stress yourself in giving them a Filipino Christmas, give them a new experience, let them feel and enjoy the American Christmas. Its my first Christmas in here too, though i am sad because i can't be with my family this Christmas, i am excited because i wan't to experience the American Christmas. Lets be realistic, we are in America and embracing American Tradition won't change our being a Filipino.

So I have a questions.. Rina mentioned 2 lines and I know does lines. 1 line for USC and the other one for Visitors which is usually always crowded and very slow.

When I pick up my family from the Philippines. Which line me and my daughter should go? Since we are both USC and my wife is the only new immigrant.

Should we stay with her on the Visitors line? or leave her there and me and my daughter go to the USC line.

I guess you should go with the USC/ Residents line because they process differently at the Visitors line. You can leave your wife at the Visitors line, she will be fine just meet her at the Homeland Security office.

Is there a difference between types of visa? K-1/2/3, IR-1/1?

Want to give my wife some heads-up when she gets to the airport.

Here in Las Vegas they only have two lines , one for Residents and one for visitors. If you are new immigrant (regardsless of Visa Type) you have to go with the visitor's line. Just be prepares with your passport, I-94 (given in the plane, fill it up before landing) and the Visa packet (the sealed brown envelope).

QUOTE (Tsup2 @ Nov 26 2007, 09:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ann went for the CFO Seminar today. After the seminar she had to go across town to get the stamp for her visa at another office. At the second location she was interviewed. She was not expecting to be interviewed. She said the interviewer was hostile. She was asked why she was marrying me. The lady asked her about my 2 divorces. Then the woman told her that my middle name was incorrect and she could not issue the visa stamp because of the discrepancy. The woman insisted that my middle name was Flanagan (my mother's maiden name). Ann told her it was Brandon. The woman told her she was wrong. Fortunately, I had advised Ann to take all the documents that she had brought to her interview to the CFO seminar and she did. Ann was able to show her my original birth certifcate. The woman also wante to see the divorce decrees. Ann was the able to get her visa stamp and get out of there. Ann's embassy interview was less than 5 minutes and very friendly. Her CFO interview was ten minutes and unfriendly.

I remember that middle name thing, i put Clark which is my then Fiance's (now my husband)middle name, the counselor asked me what is my Fiance's Mom's maiden name and i answered Ozburn and she returned the form to me and told me to change it, she explained that i should fill out the form in Filipino way. She was very nice and i haven't had any problem, she asked me some questions and i answered it straight forward. My husband is also divorced. I guess it depends on how you answer the questions.
