K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMARCH FILERS!!!

Just posted this in another "March filer" thread but thought I would post it here too..

Just called VSC, only took about 5 mins to get through.. Used the RFE "trick" and was told that I didnt have any RFE's, that my case was "sitting there" and that "they are working on it", she also wanted to verify my address... I verified and she said ...hmmmm... never like to hear "hmmmm"!! ...then she said "it looks like when they sent it from Missouri they switched addresses" and had Missouri as my address.. #######! , after giving my correct address she said "you should be hearing something within the next 60 days"!

Im more frustrated now, then before I called...!! LOL

Don't worry. Just be glad that you DID call and got the address fixed! That could have turned into a nightmare itself. Goodluck!

thanks, also wanted to say that I got the "because I called today touch"...LOL...at least my date no longer says April 26th..LOL

The address on the DS 156 form should be her permanent resident address or her current resident address. If you are worried about the visa delivery address, put the the Hotel's address you are staying as your delivery address when you fill out the Delbros form after the interview.

PhilippinesBirth certificate problem and need advice
QUOTE (forgiven @ Apr 7 2008, 09:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My girlfriend's brother went to get a certified copy of her birth certificate today at General Santos City, Local Civil Registrar and they said that her dad's name is missing a letter and so it will take up to two months to correct it and cost 15,000 pesos. What I don't understand is that she has a photocopy of a certified copy of her birth certificate and the name is correct.

I feel like since this place knows she is applying for a visa they are taking advantage and they are charging more than three months wages to correct this? Maybe I'm out in left field on this one but what do you think about this?

signed,

Aggravated

Well, i guess somebody is trying to scam you, if she has a photocopy with the correct name, then theres no problem.

Request a certified copy of her birth certificate from NSO, thats the US Embassy's requirement, you yourself can request for it online at this website https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/frmIndex.asp.

I'm not sure if theres an NSO office at General Santos but if not there's one at Davao City, your gf can go there and request for one, if she get there by 8:00 am she can get it by 1:00pm. It only cost 125 pesos if she will request it personally.

PhilippinesWhat are the chances of getting the visa if I am gonna come alone?
I went to my interview by myself and i did fine, the Consular officer didn't gave me a hard time at all, i got approved and got my Visa. You'll be fine if you go alone just be prepared and be confident. Goodluck!

Hello all,

How difficult is it going to be when its scattered t-storms in Manila during this week's interview.

I'm already expecting it to be hot and humid.

I'm scheduled on Tuesday with a few others here on this board.

Weather.com says Manila is in the mid 90's with about 70% humidity making it feel like mid 100's. Yikes!!!

-Doc

Stay at Bayview Hotel which is just in front of the Embassy the night before your interview, in this case you will not have much problem dealing with the weather. Don't forget your umbrella.... Goodluck!

So here i go again lol... hello everybody and thanks for taking time reading to my ever non-sense paranoia and anxiety.... tomorrow around 7:45 a.m ill be officially working at Ace hardware as a cashier (full time 40 hrs/week)... and this will be my first time job without the comfort of my husband's business and the comfort of our home as a home agent...

i already have work here in he US after i got my GC in my husband's store (handling cash registry, inventory, merchandising, cleaning, customer service etc)... the thing is i can what i want, i can do go home when i want and that i can just tell my boss (my husband) that i dont wana work today lol... so it isnt a "real" job per se plus the check im getting feels like not a "real" paycheck since it coming from our own business hehe... so i applied as a home agent handling cable billing (comcast) dealing with customer on the phone if they wana pay some bills, or if the want upgrade or troubleshoot their TV... the thing again is that there's a bunch of irate customers that they will yell and get angry for no particular reason and i cant handle such attitude which i cant blame them coz somehow they felt the company gave them a bad customer service... so after a month i quit... lol... whistling.gif hindi ko masikmura (i cant stomach it) hehehe... i can say, my english is ok but when they started yelling, suddenly i felt like im talking to them as if they come from mars or from pluto... we cant understand each other hahah...

and so here i am again, was hired by ACE hardware last saturday and will work right away tomorrow... yesterday my husband and i bought some food for lunch for my work, lunch box, water bottle and some clothes and working shoes... and it really feels like its my first day of school rofl.gif my husband and i were laughing about all our stuff that we bought and that im really really nervous and cant sleep and i think there's an elephant in my stomach aside from a butterfly. lol...

so this is it... i really hope ill do great tomorrow and they wont fire me right away hahaha... wish me luck y'all and may God give me strength and presence of mind while working...

God bless and will update you about my first day!!! luv.gif

Congrats, don't worry you'll be fine. Just go there with confidence and stand tall (eventhough your not) laughing.gif , smile and be nice to everybody and they'll be nice to you too.

anyone from the philippines experience this???

my fiance had his blood test at St Luke's philippines.... did that include the HIV test???
so now here in california.... he had his TD shot (tetanus diptheria) and the nurse was requiring him to have another blood test for HIV??? is that necessary??

Yes, the blood test that St. Lukes took from him was for HIV. Tell the nurse that he already got her full medical exam back in the Philippines, TD is not available there so he need to take it here in the US. All you need to do is to take the vaccination records that St. Lukes gave him together with the TD shots record to the Civil Surgeon.

hello people

im planning to petition my fiancee in the philippines very soon, but i have concerns about her being widowed and her marriage to her late husband was never registered (they had an muslim marriage ceremony). also they had 2 minor kids which also use their father's last name. being the marriage ceremony was never registered, my fiancee did not used her late husband's last name.

my question is.....would that raise red flags? will my fiancee have problem getting her kids here in the states? if yes, how can she fix this?

and also i was reading ahead about ds-156k, im kind of confused about the requirements....does she still need to get a marriage certificate copy or the death certificate copy of her late husband is sufficient? or does she need both?

thanks in advance

eddie

btw visa journey rocks!

If your fiancee's marriage was not registered, then the marriage doesn't legally exist and she is legally able to marry any man she wants. Since the marriage doesn't exist she doesn't need her husband's death certificate. If you want to file for K-1 all you need to do is to request from NSO the CENOMAR (Certificate of Non Marriage), this alone will prove that she's never been married and legally able to marry you.

I read Sheriff Uling's guidelines and maybe like those on K1 visa i can get even if i dont have work permit yet right? Holy smoke.... whats goin on with this SSN office in here. What should i do?

Its rediculous, how can you file for taxes if you are not working yet. SSA people are not very well acquainted with Immigration rules. If you are a K1 Visa Holder you can apply for SSN two weeks after your arrival, the SSA can verify your information in SAVE-ASVI database. If the SSA employee will not issue you the SSN bring a copy of RM 00203.500 (on topic C of this link) https://secure.ssa.g...x/0100203500#c1

PhilippinesEmployment question
It depends on her, i'll tell you this, waiting for Visa approval will take some time and the waiting is very stressful. A job can spare her from stress and boredome. If she can't get the clearance from her employer she can always resign, as long as she did not sign a contract agreement that she will work for them for a certain period of time, she can resign anytime.

I am considering the distance of St. Luke's Medical Center, which is located in Quezon while the US Embassy is along Roxas Boulevard. I am planning to have the medical exam and interview done in one time when I will go to Manila. Could that be possible too? I think I will be staying in Manila for 5-7 days, or more than that?

You are not going to St. Lukes medical Center at Quezon City, you are going to take your Medical at their extension clinic which is located at 1177 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila. You need to take your Medical at least one week before your scheduled Interview so you may plan your stay in Manila from 7-14 days.

Has anyone recently gotten an interview date??
Thanks for any info

As far as i knew Visapoint is for Non-immigrant Visa only (tourist visa and such), Though K-1 is a Non-immigrant Visa it is considered as Immigrant Visa.

VisaPoint also provides information on immigrant visas for applicants who are pursuing legal resident status in the United States. However, VisaPoint cannot be used to schedule immigrant visa appointments.http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhvpnt.html

Just keep on calling, USEM will come up with the interview dates eventually.
