IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRescheduling K3 interview Date
QUOTE (Ness and Keith @ Sep 14 2007, 04:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Guys,

I just want to ask if any of you here tried rescheduling ur K3 visa interview in USEM-Manila? Is it usually a mo. after your old schedule or you can set your preferred date?

Since I'm planning to reschedule my K3 visa to catch up with my CR1 interview, so that, at least i have already a schedule interview date for my CR1 while having my K3 visa interview. I'm thinking of requesting the CR1 visa during my K3 interview..

The info you can give about rescheduling will highly be appreciated.. .. helpsmilie.gif

Thank you and have a great day.. Wishing u all the best in this so long process...

Try to call or email the US Embassy in Manila, this is the link: http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3216.html

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed advice on DS-230

i need to fill out DS-230 for my Dad, (i'm a USC) he lives in Bolivia but visited US about 15 yrs ago using passport under a different name, he was also able to obtain a fake SS card, after a short period of time left USA (about 13 yrs ago) and never returned again, my question is what do i put on line 25 under visits to US?? , should i put that he visited on certain dates but what about Visa status? i was thinking not to put any entries or N/A , but i don't want to risk his chances to obtain an immigrant visa, just in case they find any type of records under his name. what do i do?

I will echo the prior response,. In life we are forced to take responsibility for our actions. It is precisely what you are facing. Tell the truth. It is for this reason, people trying to circumvent the system for their own, that creates the endless stream of bureacratic nightmares for everyone else, the long waits for what most of us feel are unwarranted. Be honest, and pray it all works out. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProofs????
Hi Karem, I know I sent you a PM but this is for all the people new here that may or may not know about Peter's thread. It is under The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion on the forums page. Right now on page two is a thread called "Colombian Club" click on the thread and readi it. Deals with the Bogota embassy. For the interview take what they ask and docs for proof of relationship, cover all your bases and just be prepared so if they ask you have it. Hope this helps and will send you another email as well with some other thoughts. When did you start your process? Didn't see a timeline.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 question
I would list it as an asset, it is not stocks or bonds, but only list the amount you are vested with. List as 401k or IRA whatever else it is. Shows you have some assets and if needed to bolster your numbers it is the amount you have as an asset. Hope this helps

Thanks guys for the responses, I know it is always better to be safe than sorry, and in the long run, yes the CR-1 may save some later filings. Anyway, probably going to file both and again, thanks for your input and good luck to all!!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 or CR-1
I am not confused but not sure what to do. I realize the difference in the two visas and know in the past the time difference for approval has been somewhat long but lately I have been seeing a lot of CR-1 visas being approved in short times. I am just wondering if filing for both is that necessary, given the approvals I am seeing. Anyone else wondering what to do??? Just asking for some opinions or thougths from other people on this topic. I have most of the I-129F packet ready to go, just waiting for a new passport foto since the other is over the 30 day limit.

Thanks

Your other half should have copies of all that he sent to NVC, have him overnight you a copy of the form and attachments, take it all with you. Better to be prepared than disapproved or needing to wait for the documents.

I can't say how long but since you need a signature I would look at the shortcuts link here on VJ so you can speed up the process since you need a signature of your significant other. That way you can get a little jump on the game. Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespassport photos for I-130 packet
My wife's fotos came from Foto Japon en Bogota and so far I haven't rec'd an RFE, not saying one isn't on the way soon. God, I hope not. My photo from Walgreens here was a bit smaller as well, if you really feel uncomfortable or think they are too small, have them retaken, for about $2 US and $26 to send them Fedex (4 days it took), it may be worth the peace of mind.

Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations
I am assuming that this question applies to documents submitted with your initial petition? If so you do not need the translations notarized, only certified in the letter stating who did the translation. the link below explains more and gives you a format for the letter. As to doing it yourself, I suppose you can but to me, have someone else do it and sign the letter. In my case I did the translations and had someone else check over my translations and they were then happy to sign the letter of certification. Hope this helps. Here it the link. Oh yea, anyone one can translate as long as they are competent in both languages to do so.

Count me in guys!!! What great idea. For me I think we need to mention the shortcuts and then post the following link.

That is what I bookmarked for a good guide to both aussiewench's suggestions and James shortcuts. Some people may not want to use them some may. This way we don't confuse anyone as to what NEEDS to be done or what one can do to speed up the process a bit. Hope this helps as I am all for helping out. The transcripts are fine, you can them in about two weeks by mail if you want a good hard copy. Call the IRS and go through the drill.

CR1 do not receive packet 3 from the US Consulate/Embassy. Our packet 3 is the one that comes with the DS-230 and is sent by the NVC.
We only get packet 4 from the US Consulate/Embassy and it is now called the Interview package.

never mind I found it in the guides, I knew it was somewhere just kept missing it. Sorry.

My guess would be they can drag it out as long as it takes for them to verify what they are looking for. I wish you would put up a timeline so we can tell where you are in the process, kind of hard to help if we don't know what stage of the process you are in. I too am in Vegas.

You filed the I-130 for your CR-1 but never filed the I-129F for the K-3. Is that correct? But in your letter you said "no wedding" and were wondering how to sneak this info in? Maybe I misunderstood, if you could put your situation a bit more clearly it may help in getting more advice. Thanks

Woke up and there it was, our I-130 was approved , a day to truly give thanks. I hope more of you rec'd the same late present we got. Email showed up at 11:15 last night. 71 days of waiting over, I had to tell someone, my wife is not home and too early here in the west to call anyone. Last night when I got home I had noticed that they touched our case but no update on the status. I was optimistic but.......well you all know how much or little this can mean. Excited but with cautious optimism. And today.........damn, I just want to cry, I haven't been so happy since my wedding day, or night. Everyone, wish all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, I know today will forever be a day with special meaning for us.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCASE COMPLETED!
Brad, what a game, I have to say the Boys have the fight. I had to laugh when you said you grew up hearing about "Roger Staubach" I grew up watching him, a little age difference. I guess my non-love for the Boys comes from being a Packer fan while growing up. The "Ice Bowl" game, Bob Hayes, Calvin Hill, Leroy Jordan. You know the list goes on for both teams. Today I love the game, don't care who wins, just want to see a good game. Guess being in Denver for 13 years takes my loyalties there since Vegas does not have a team. In any event, great game. Have a great week all!!!

Geez Brad I was just beginning to enjoy the friendship here until you threw in the "Cowboys" comment. Good God man, I had more faith in you than that. The COWBOYS????? I have to admit they are looking good with the QB change. Romo is a man possesed right now. Fun to watch too. With the Giants in a funk and McNabb out, they could pull off the miracle and win that division. Two great Christmas presents for you. I am heading to Bogota on the 14th and staying until the 1st. Next trip, I hope will be for me to bring Ceci back, we are hoping for an April timeline on that but then no one knows.

While I feel bad for summer, hey, she is not in a position to share the reasons. Respect that, it is not always about what she can do for someone else. Maybe she just needed to talk as many of us do here on VJ. Wish her well, offer anything constructive advice you can and hope for the best for her. Most people have some type of past that may affect the process. We all hope and pray it doesn't happen to us but know there is an arbitrariness ( if this is a word) to the process. Good luck Summer.

Hey Mark, just sent you email and thought I would post here as well. I looked at the EZ instructions, I know you are not filing this but they make no mention of sending the request form either. With the other changes as far as what to send, I am guessing that the request is no longer necessary. Maybe someone else will pop up with a more definitive answer, or you could just generate one and send it to be safe.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThe NVC blows
You want to see rude people who don't know what customer service is come to Las Vegas...... I am with Brad on this one, I have called 3 times this week. I have never waited for more than 3 minutes on the line and when speaking with an operator never had an issue. I asked the questions I wanted answered, they answered and if I didn't follow them I asked again and they were more than happy to help. Maybe not the friendliest of all people I have ever spoken but then again who is. Remember the caseload is huge, you are not their only client so if they don't seem interested in your case but give you the information you want, that is the objective. If you have trouble getting through, call early or late and the time may drop drastically for you to wait.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApproved I-130 Recieved says my beneficiary is in the US!!!!!
I remember when first coming to this site, I read never leave anything blank or write N/A. On my petition I wrote never been here or always something to indicate a definitive answer. With the changes that are taking place one should really be aware to do this. My other comment is this. I only filed the I-130. I did not follow-up with the I-129F. Just felt the extra time at NVC was worth any delay in exchange for being done with the process and not dealing with the possibility of any mishaps on my part or theirs. My choice and so far has worked out fine. I guess my point is we sit here and complain about the waits, the mistakes and all that goes on in the process. Yet we continue to play the game. To cut the time down we file two petitions, doubling the work for USCIS. As they strive to become more efficient, not defending or saying they are, it seems it is catching up with the dual petition scenario. I guess maybe one should decide on either the K-3 or Cr-1 if married, not both. Maybe the approval time would decrease with less petitions. Maybe not. It seems we may victims of our own choices here.

Now Andrea, I hope to God this all works out for you. I wish I could give you some advice but really do not know what you can do but am sure somebody here has been through it as well. Good luck.
