K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2009 Filers! CSC
Anxiously awaiting for you guys to get your NOA2's smile.gif good news for you guys means that they will be moving on to the October filers! (yep, ulterior motives!).

I was looking at the stats (located here: Stats Page ) and am very sad to see the amount of NOA2's has dropped SO dramatically in the past month. I know that it all hinges upon people updating their timelines, however it does still appear that processing is slowing. drat! sad.gif

Congratulation for approval!!! :) are you the first from october fillers?

Thanks :) Nope, not the first ... based on all the October filers, Rito has been approved too :) You and lilacvioletiris and a handful of others are the only others that I know of from October that have filed for AOS. It was MUCH easier and stress free than the K-1 - to me at least :)

Hi guys! :)

The hurry up and wait game is definitely NOT my favorite!! Hurry up and apply for a K-1 Visa and wait, and wait, and wait. Then get your SO here and wait for a SSN and then apply for AOS and wait. We are through all of those former processes and now are just WAITING for two years to pass so John can apply for legal permanent resident! Wait wait wait!

Actually, we are really enjoying our time together and so thankful that everything has gone smoothly. Had John's AOS interview on Monday and he was approved  . That whole process was very smooth and painless honestly. John was even able to import his car by catching the Port Huron POE supervisor in a bad mood so just to get him out of her hair, she signed the import papers :hehe:

Anyone still waiting for anything around here?

Carl had his interview this morning and was approved with no problems! His visa should be on its way in a few days!!!

Now we settle in for the loooooooong wait until the last week of December when he'll finally be here! He decided to spend one last christmas with his family and we're getting married here. I think it's a good compromise even if I am crushed that it will be so long before he gets here :( I'm just happy all my family will be at the wedding which is January 23rd (our 3 year anniversary) so it's all worked out well in the end. I'm so happy that this part is over and we can move forward. Just wanted to thank you for all your help with my persistent questions! I think we'd still be trying to figure out how to file if we hadn't found this website!
Much love!
J

I just received my first piece of mail in my married name, even though my marriage isn't for 13 days yet!

Kinda fun to see that, isn't it!

We changed over my insurance to include my fiance' (soon to be husband) and included his Canadian car on the policy. Yikes, because he doesn't have U.S. credit history we are taking a major hit in our premium! Grr. Hopefully that will get fixed as we get him a SSN and credit cards from the U.S.

Haven't changed John's over yet ... I'm kinda scared to find out!

Gorgeous photos, corcor!

Congrats on your new set of NOA1s, Beth :) May this round be as painless as the last!

Hey all! So, we're married :D

I got my K-1 approval in the mail late on Monday May 17th, and first thing Tuesday morning flew out to Oregon via Vancouver. There was a huge backlog of people in secondary inspection at immig. in Vancouver, so they had to put me on a later flight... not impressed... but I made it! After 4 days of craziness, we got married on Sunday the 23rd, and it was PERFECT! It rained a bit during the ceremony, but at least it didn't pour like it had earlier that morning! We had so much fun and were just so happy to finally get married that little things like that didn't matter- it actually made it more enjoyable :) And the clouds made for some sweet pictures
We honeymooned in Hawaii (which was a surprise to me since Aaron planned the whole thing)and had an amazing time! Relaxed, had adventures, worked on our tans... good memories for sure! Then we came home to our tiny little house which we have been working on for the past week, and I LOVE it!!! It is so stinkin cute! Nothing compares to being married, and I'm so excited for you guys who are about to tie the knot!! It is seriously the best thing ever :)

If anyone wants to see our wedding pics here's a link to our photographers site... there's a lot on there just to warn you! http://roman.smugmug...888511926_gDrpc

Bless you guys!!

BEAUTIFUL pictures, Corey! Thank you for sharing with us :) You guys look very blissfully happy! Marriage to your soul mate truly is the best!

All of the East Lansing listed Civil Surgeons were useless as well as the Howell and Brighton area ones. Might still be worth a call to any if they are in your area though. Here is the list we used .. Michigan Civil Surgeons

What's your "days til wedding" countdown, Carla? (F)
Beth and JohnFemaleCanada2010-06-08 12:17:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2009 K-1 Visa filers

I would keep calling around - and really, if they charge as much as they did abroad, I'd call even as far as an hour or two away, because four hours of gas is cheaper than the extra $100+!

FWIW, there are probably civil surgeons with UMich's med school. Unlike other civil surgeons, being that they're employed by the state, they're required to not run a profit at the hospital and the clinics. When I was looking for a civil surgeon here, one of my really good friends (who coincidentally just finished his coursework at UMich) suggested the state-run university clinics that are approved are a good place to go because they won't overcharge and usually they're willing to listen - if you can show them where it says that a full physical is not needed, they will typically not force you to get it. Especially since this service is one that insurance isn't good for.

Tried Michigan State University, where I work, and they would not do anything other than a full physical, which is a shame. I explained to them that they were missing out on some quick cash from a population of people who did not need to have the full meal deal. Wouldn't listen; ah, bureaucracy! John ended up driving about 50 miles to have a civil surgeon do it for $35. Just a few days worth of phone tag with people and perseverance paid off ... I guess :bonk:

Out of curiosity, what did you guys bring in for number 4 below (this is off of VJ's guides for getting an SSN). His birth certificate? We're thinking ahead about this now.

1.The SS-5 form you downloaded and filled out (they have some at the office if you forget).
2.your Passport (with the K-1 Visa in it)
3.your valid I-94
4.another form of valid ID (as defined in the SS-5 instructions)
5.You should also bring the document RM 00203.500 that you printed out

John took his passport, Canadian drivers license and his application for a SSN. He had no troubles whatsoever. Was in and out in 30 minutes or less.

The biggest hurdle(s) that he is having to jump at this point is finding a frickin' civil surgeon who either won't charge hundreds of dollars to transcribe his vaccinations onto the I-693, or is even willing to do just the vaccination transcription (most want to do the full medical - however he has a copy of his medical from Vancouver). grrrr. frustrating. Oh, and the other is the fun car import thingy. If you have an "older" vehicle, I recommend you just sell the thing. Hindsight is 20/20.

Hi guys! We're married! AND lilacvioletiris was able to attend both our wedding ceremony and reception! Thanks so much for coming, Carla :)

We've had some fun with the "import your spouse" program. John encountered some fun at his POE, where it was found that the letter he got for his car stated that it is compliant with all Canadian requirements ... NOT American. The border guards were great and told him that he could get the letter and take care of that portion of it at a later time, however since then, it has been found that his car is not compliant with American standards because it doesn't have airbags ... predates the requirements. Soooo... long story short, we are continuing with the saga and figuring out what the heck needs to be done, including the possibility of a trip to Windsor, Canada to sell his car. Fun fun!

About ready to send his AOS packet in and get that ball rolling. Just needed a few additional items that we have secured, one including a certified copy of our marriage certificate!

Congrats to everyone who got married recently and those that had interviews as well! We are almost through that first hoop guys!! YAY! (L)

Hi All!!
After requesting another status update, the Tirana consulate notified us that packet 4 was mailed to my fiance but he never received it. Therefore, he missed his medical appointment on 5/10 and is scheduled for his interview on 5/24. So, we will need to reschedule both appointments. Getting closer...

Oh good grief. Too bad all the consulates can't do automated telephone calls OR emails like the USCIS site does. Just something simple like ... on ___date___ we sent to you a notice via ___snail mail/carrier pigeon___. If you do not receive this notice within 5-7 business days, please contact us at 1-800-FIA-NCEE.

By glory! I will be thinking of you, as I am jumping out of my seat right now at work as John calls and gives me an update every few hours for the past two days letting me know how much closer he is to "home". He is driving across the upper United States and should be in Michigan and HOME in about 5 hours or so!   Very exciting to have our loved ones FINALLY with us, at HOME!

Hi everyone, I just arrived in Tokyo to help accommodate my fiancee to her interview next Monday in Tokyo. A few days for me to double check her DS-156 and birth certificate and organize my I-134 bundle would be our next steps. so far Japan is nice and accommodating as its a national holiday for a few days. I think the Tokyo embassy should be a piece of cake, but I'll still drill her on the test questions a few more times.

more updates next week

Best of luck at the interview! I'm sure everything will be great!

APPROVEEDDDDDDD WITH THE COSPONSOR! yayyyyyyy. he will have his visa in 10 days or less they said. scheduled date of arrival May 24th....

Ok, so I REALLY want to put "APPROVED" all over the place, but .....

John's Visa is "approved pending further documentation". Apparently they didn't like my divorce documents and want "State seals" on them. ah, well.... it's an easy fix, just more time consuming and delays (having to request the same documents AGAIN and paying for them AGAIN). Doesn't really affect us in the least as John isn't planning to activate his K-1 until May 11th or so, but I just wanted to be done with it! :D

John said the interview was very easy .... they did not take some of his paperwork (he doesn't remember what exactly ... :) ) and we think it was because he did D-230 online. The guy interviewing him asked very few questions, did not ask for any supporting evidence of our relationship (no pics, no phone records, nada), just told him to get the certified "with seals" documents to him along with his passport and they will return it to him within two days with his Visa inside. SUPER easy! John also said that there were two other non-immigrant Visa applicants there, another K-1 and a K-3, and they both walked out needing additional documentation as well. The K-1 needed a criminal waiver (ouch!) and the K-3 for divorce documents as well.

Hello everyone! I haven't been on in forever!!!

Carl and I did recieve our packet 3 on Februaru 22nd, but because the address was not changed it went to his old house where no one lives. He e-mailed the embassy in London, and they sent him a very confusing website that kind of says what we're supposed to do next, but not really. I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction of what we're supposed to do next. I'm very lost and he's very stressed. Please help!!!

Can you give us the website that they gave to you guys? Maybe we can help decipher it? :)

On the 5 month mark I called the USCIS and they said go make an info pass--I made the info pass for yesterday. The officer at first stated that our case hasn't even been opened yet. And, I was like yes it has and I started to explain all of the details in then he started lookin more into his computer and goes "i see the last time someone worked on your file was 3/8/10, I'd recommend you just e-mail them and see what they say." However, on the uscis website it doesen't show my case being touched on 3/8. I sent a long email explaing everything yesterday, if I don't hear anything, I'll go to my congressman. My congressman is an an hr and 30 mins away. UGHHH!!!

Your case is very interesting. I'm curious to know what on earth has put such delays on yours, initiated NVC to call you TWICE nonetheless, and then to hear nothing for basically months? You are a more patient soul than I am, as I would be beating their doors down wanting to know what the frick is going on! Please do keep us updated, and if there is anything we can do, research, moral support, please let us know!

Congrats Cecilia! I'm so thankful that you are doing ok after the accident as well! Here's to hoping that you are in the States quickly as well as healing quickly!

Congrats and best wishes to all the others that have either received their NOA2's (finally!), heard info that their cases are moving forward (finally!), have received negative smear tests (and hoping for negative sputum tests as well!), and all the others that are still waiting for whatever reason (hurry up Montreal!).

I've been "out of commission" recently due to a really poor choice for internet services at our new home (HUGHESNET Satellite internet sucks!!!). Waiting for the other to be installed tomorrow, so I am having to read and post from work, and finding time to do that recently has been difficult. My middle daughter, who turns 15 in two weeks, may be having seizures again and between that and John's mom's stroke, we have been swimming in the medical "pool" long enough and are ready to get out.

I would love for a large group of us to be able to go through AOS together as well :) A friendly face during a stressful journey is always a good thing!

This is Gary, and I am asking for your prayers for Cecilia. She went to Tacloban yesterday morning to take care of some printing of documents for the upcoming visa interview for our petition interview on March 10. From what I know from talking with her a few hours ... after Cecilia arrived in Tacloban yesterday morning, Cecilia took a motor-tricycle to her next destination... at some point the tricycle that Cecilia was riding in was rear-ended by a jeepney. Cecilia was injured and was taken to Bethany Hospital in Tacloban. She will be staying at Bethany Hospital for some medical treatment. . I feel so helpless being so far away, and I am really worried about her.

Sending thoughts and best wishes to Cecilia for a speedy recovery!

Hi everybody! I'm back from my eventful trip to England and Ireland! It sounds weird to say that my fiance proposed, but he did - we didn't have a "official" engagement before this, we just knew we were going to get married, and the sooner the better. So I've been over the moon despite being quite jet-lagged!!
