QUOTE (msu17 @ Jan 2 2009, 05:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Congrats on both making it to the US! You shouldn't have a problem at POE and if they do ask you have a valid reason for coming a few days ahead. If it does come up just make sure that you can convince them he will be home within 90 days so you can complete your marriage. And why is he having you come buy groceries? He should be buying you them! wink.gif

Haha!!! I guess that if he even bought some grociery before he deployed they are no longer good! =)
I hope the question won't come up but if it does I will just tell them the truth! I may ask him to give me his Company phone number so that in case they don't belive me they can even call his company! Thank you for all your support!!

Hello everybody! I'm not sure if this is the right place where to ask this. I was wondering something...my fiance will redeployed from Iraq soon and he asked me to be already there when this will happen...He would like for me to arrive like 1 week before him so I can open the house and warm it up a little...do u think it will be a problem? At the interview the consular asked me when my fiance will re-deployed and I told him the exact date so I think that at the POE they will know about it...And I'm worried that if they see me getting there earlier they will make me problems...anybody have experiences / advices about it? Every opinions is greatly appreciate!! Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

First, congratulations on your visa and your fiance coming home--both excellent pieces of news! Now to your question...

If you have the visa in hand, you can use it whenever you like (before it expires, of course)--I don't know how they would know whether or not your fiance is in the country. I would just make sure that you know how to work everything if you haven't spent much time at his house; I'm constantly surprised how different life is in the UK/Europe than the States! Hopefully he has family or friends around that can offer advice/support/help--that will definitely make your first days easier.

Good luck, and again--congratulations!

Thank you! Congratulation on your Visa as well!
I was just thinking that they may find the information on the brown envelope...I never understood what they put inside that secret thing lol...
By the way I'm lucky I've been there few times and I know his friends so that will be ok...just hope somebody will turn on the heather a couple of days before I arrive...it was -26° C a couple of weeks ago... blink.gif

Anyone who filed for K-1 fiance visa I-129F form (revised 11/24/06)????

FYI: The newer one is revised 07/30/07
USCIS accepts both.

Did anyone experience any issues filing with the one that was revised 11/24/06?
Issues such as RFEs? IMBRA issues?

The fact that you are getting an RFE means they are working on your case and you will probably receive your NOA2 very fast after you send them the documents they miss. So don't worry about it!! Just wait to get the RFE in your mail box and just follow the instruction! If they really want the new version of I 129F then just do it again with the new form. You will be fine!!!I'm sure you are almost there!

Thank you for your support! smile.gif
I will post back when I get the mail notice of the RFE

I think the others that responded, misunderstood your concern. Your concern is that although you are not married, in you emails you refer to each other as husband and wife and she signs, Mrs (your last name). This is defininitely NOT GOOD but she may be able to explain it at the interview.
[/quote]

This is what I think too...at the interview they will probably ask her why she referer to u as her husband if u are not married... i think she should prepare to get a good explanation about it and maybe it wouldn't hurt to also get a certificate of singleness (if avaible in Japan).

By the way he is still deployed.

Sending his deployments order with the petition is not doing anything if u wanna apply for expedite. You need to make ethe request after you get your NOA1 ! =))

My fiance was deployed so we called the military line and request for expedite. They said they were going to send us and email with further information but they never did. So after 3 weeks of waiting we just sent them a fax with a cover letter, a letter from my fiance stating the reason of the expedite request, a letter from his commander just confirming he was on deployment and that they couldn't obtain original orders at that time) and copy of his ID. It worked for us I hope the same to u! =)

Thanks

At some point, I'd like to see that it isn't held against people, and doesn't deny people from a visa, particularly when it happened as experimental use, or the person used years ago and has made changes in their life.

QUOTE (Carlawarla @ Oct 22 2008, 12:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
A few things...

TB: Yes, I'm sure they would compare your chest x-rays to your TB skin test. If you have active TB though, you are going to be required to have a sputum test, and if that's postive, then you'll be required to have a course of treatment before you get your visa. Because the skin test is a recent thing, those of you that don't or didn't get it in your home country, will find out that it is a requirement of your AOS, so be forewarned, you will have it.

Drugs: This is a dilemma for some. Firstly, you're asking at the medical if you've EVER used drugs. This has nothing to do with your criminal record, because the Dr. doesn't have a copy of your record. If you answer yes, it will be marked down on your medical, after disclosing how recent. Drug use will get you a denial of your visa. Period. Do you lie? You are never to lie to anyone during this process. If it's ever found out you lied, you're going to be in serious trouble and not only will your visa be denied, you'll be banned for life for ever entering the US.
I've seen here on VJ, you might want to google drug use and visa's, where someone disclosed teen usage of marijuana at the medical. They were required to get a certificate and/or letter from a therapist, drug counsellor etc. where they completed treatment to attest to the fact that they were "rehabilitated". THEN they were allowed to get their visa. Rehabilitated means...having taken a course/program, and a professional attesting to that.

As well I want to mention that it's against the TOS, to tell anyone to avoid telling the truth during the immigration process. As a far as the comment that everyone has used in their past, that is not true. While I'm sure a lot of people have, many have not as well.

Mental Health: Again, if it's disclosed during your medical that you've seen a professional in the past regarding your mental health, perhaps depression, you were suicidal etc. then you could be referred for a psychological/psychiatric referral. A few people have had scars on their wrists, from again...something in their youth. They were referred for an assessment, and then were given a letter to take to the Embassy/Consulate. It doesn't preclude you from getting a visa, they just want to have it checked out.

Hope this helps.

I never said everyone had used it in their past...I said a lot of teens try it...at least here in Italy...I don't know about your contry but here its a reality. Most of them try drugs and alchool before they even turn 13...I didn't said I think its good for people to use drugs and more than anything I dind't advice anybody to lie about it.

I think that's only if you have something show up on the x-ray. I've seen posts by people here where they had a scar or some other sign of tb in their lungs and had to wait a few weeks to verify that it was stable/unchanging. The three month thing is only if you actually have TB, not just for a positive skin test but actual TB, someone who has had tb in the past probably can expect a delay because often something shows up on the chest x-ray and they have to take another x-ray after a certain amount of time to compare (this is just what I understand from reading here, I am not a TB expert).

FWIW...thats make me feel a little better...!!!! Lets hope we all be done soon!!

if you are positive for TB they will ask u to cure yourself before you go to the next step.

And i read that it is annoying because u will need to go back and forth to the clinic for checkups.

TB treatment will take about 3 months

The TB skin test is well known to give a lot of false positives so a positive skin test is always followed up by a chest x-ray. So if you are one of those that tends to get false positives, don't worry.

Yes this is sometimes down to if you have been given the TB vaccination sometime in your life.

My wife and I just completed her Medical exam in Puerto Rico about an hour ago. She was given the TB skin test, if she is positive she gets the x-ray, if not, then nothing. They test for syphilis, ghonnorea, HIV, Leprosy and some other stuff. Since my wife has no vaccination records she will be given a bunch of vaccinations.
What they are looking for is made really clear in the instruction portion of the I-693 med exam form. And yeah...."Drugs? No, never!"
FWIW, they are also supposed to check to see if you are mentally imbalanced and pose a risk to others....our doctor didn't ask any questions at all......

-Ed

wow!! You guys are almost done! I hope they'll give you your Visa soon! Well, I just checked my medical paperwork and I have one from 1996 where it said that I got negative to the second TB test ( a more specific one )...basicly I would be positive to the skin test (as I've always been) but negative to the rest... I will take that paper with me just in case...it won't hurt!

As above, blood tests are used to determine whether you have any STD's, and HIV. Chest x-rays are for TB. Since June, skin tests are being used for TB testing, so I don't really know how much longer they're going to be requiring chest x-rays. As far as blood tests go, they don't do drug testing on your blood unless you've been sent there for specifically that reason. Case in point, someone who disclosed during their medical exam that they had used drugs in the past. The Dr. sent them for blood tests to determine if it was still in their system. However, whether it's in your system or not, if you've disclosed this to the Dr. during the medical, then you're going to be denied your visa, unless you can obtain a waiver.

Do you have an article on the drug use of the past at all? Someone I know is trying to obtain the K1 visa and her fiance is a drug user. He said he will stop taking them enough to pass the medical. I say they will know or find out if he does not stop at all .
BUT my question is this. there are people out there that used drugs during teen years and stopped. So why would thye deny you something IF you are clean and that is a past thing??

Who knows? I think young people make a lot of mistakes and I think a lot of teen try drugs...Not saying I agree with it but its a reality...They should make a difference between the person who has a drug adiction and a person that just tryed it...But you know, they make the rules...only thing I can say its that they can't pretend for people to be honest about it...if u know they will deny your visa if u admit u even just try drug for one time...are u going to tell the truth?

The guides here are generic and cover all countries - both high fraud and low fraud.  USCIS only care that you have proof you have met in person once in the last 2 years for the petition approval. They don't care about much evidence of ongoing relationship.

However, some embassies will want to see lots of this evidence for the actual visa application. These countries may require "front-loading" to make sure that the evidence of ongoing relationship is sent with the rest of the I-129f package from USCIS to the respective embassy for the visa application.

Quick question to your comment, is there a list of low and high fraud countries?  just curious.
