Welcome Desperado!

We waited about 4 months on A/P. Some take longer :( . I do remember that earlier this year, rkhalid was only on A/P for 2 months :D .

Mary is right, do not set dates. They will come and go and make things worse. After calling the DOS to check on our status at least 3-4 times a week for 3 months, I decided to stop the madness and call them only on Wednesdays. Funny thing is, even though I checked all the time, my hubby knew we were off A/P before me... the DOS customer service did not know he was off of A/P until the day the Embassy sent my husband a request to return to finish the process. I had to wait 2 hours for the DOS to open the morning after my husband called with the good news to confirm the security clearance finale.

I can't find the number for the Dept of State that I used to call... hopefully someone here will have it. After about 2 weeks you can call and find out how the sec check is going. Don't expect too many details.. more like "The case is still pending"

Good luck.. hope it goes fast for you guys!
but she already did her medical so does she have to do it again. the I693?
The I-693 is the vaccination records. I have forgotten what is required... but if you post the question in the AOS forums, you'll probably find someone who knows what the US requires in regards to immunizations.

My husband did not have his shot records, so we just looked up the closest Civil Surgeon and did a walk in appt. It cost us almost $300 for 3 shots, I did not think to "shop around" first.

This is from the Guides above:
Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. (If you already have this from your overseas Visa Interview submit a copy that medical check form; No fee is required in this case. If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.)
Hello Nair1.. sorry to see you are back on AP :( . I believe Fasel's wife got her visa about a week ago.

Yesterday I was put on AP for the third time in eleven months. I believe many from the following list are also facing the same predicament. It would be a good idea for others to update their status as to when they were put back on AP so we can get strength from each other's progress.

so laney do i send the medical form with AOS application. Or will they request it later on. I mean the medical stuff she brought over was forwarded to service center.

Hafiz,

On the day of her interview, the person interviewing her will have a big ol file on your wife that should have the medical records from her interview. All you need is the I-693 with the AOS. Hopefully nothing will be lost and she does not get stuck in FBI Name check! Good luck.

Hey Hafiz,
(I think) My husbands medical results were in the brown envelope he left at his POE. I am assuming the airport immigration forwarded the packet to the Denver Immigration office from there. His medical results were only about 6/7 months old at the time of his AOS interview. We knew that he had not had shots at his medical, and his records were non-existent - so we had to pay a couple of hundred dollars at the civil surgeons (thank god for Flex dollars) for 3 shots and the piece of paper (I-693) to include with his AOS paperwork. We had no RFE's and a quick approval (relatively speaking) so must have been correct thing to do -- :)

Morning Mary!

My wife said AMEX contacted her and told her to come in tomorrow to pick up her "DOCUMENTS". My wife said when she went for her interview in Islamabad, the embassy had given back all her documents. Does this mean she will get the visa tomorrow? Thanks.

Hopefully! You'll have to tell us how it goes. Is she going to Amex on Wednesday?

I have a question for the ladies here: how long did it take your hubbies (who came in on K-3s) to get their EADs or interim EADs? Any problems? We're being given a very difficult time and hope that AILF will file a class action lawsuit for people who are in our situation.

Hi Zsam... My hubby's EAD was approved in under 2 months,,,, however, the SS office took another 10 WEEKS to send us his SS Card. Good Luck!

Laney

Good luck tomorrow on April 13th for the following interviews.

Ali and Danika
Fasil

And Zaki is going on 26th and wanted to wish him all the best as well. Mary

Thanks Mary, Good Luck to Ali & Danika and Fasil for tomorrow interview. Waiting their experiences anxiously.

do you have to file for EAD to get SS card. Or can she file after the AOS approval. My wife does not need to work.

My hubby needed his EAD card in order to get a SSN. If your wife does not need to work, you might as well wait until she gets her green card to go get her SSN. Save yourself some cash.

Quick question for K3 consulate do sent out interview letter and applicant has to bring all documents directly to Embassy at time of interview. My question is why would k3 applicant use AMEX? also Visa form do I have to fill it out online r let my wife fill it in hand writting once she will recieve it from consulate?

Thanks

My hubby picked his passport and Visa up at the Karachi Amex (thats where he was living). If your wife is in ISL, they'll probably let her get it from the Embassy.

If you were to purchase your wifes ticket now, just make sure it is changeable. She could get A/P, interview could be bumped to a later date, Amex could lose her envelope - etc.

Hey guys gotta question my wifes interview is in april i read the thread earlier that it does help for husband or wife to be there, i want to go to the interview with her but my concern is that what if they put her on ar/ap, i only have 3 weeks vacation. What do you guys think plus purchasing a ticket for her what if i purchase the ticket and the process gets a little delayed, any feed back would be great.

Hey Pitbull,
Congrats on the upcoming interview.
1. Yes
2. No, [at least not in my case] but I'm sure your wife will appreciate the support.
-Laney

My questions to all the learned folks over here are:

1. Does ISL embassy allow USC's presence at the interview?
2. More importantly, does that help in any way?

thanks in advance for advices and sharing experiences!

Answers below... good luck
Laney

Quick questions for all!

1) What language should I ask my employer to use on employment letter for my wife K-3 visa.
English
2) What should I ask bank to write on bank letter? Any specific wording? just simple letter or something else?
I took a generic letter into my bank that showed them what I was looking for - It was very simple, Name, when I opened the account and what my current balance was. They took it to a supervisor and typed it up on their own letter head. It was pretty easy at my bank - but I have seen some other posters who could not get a letter quickly or for free.
3) Islamabad required I-134? am I right for K-3 visa?
Yes
4) Should I ask my wife to get Police letter in advance even she have not reieved letter from embassy yet but I did comfirmed file is in Islamabad.
If she is lucky and has only lived in one city/village in Pakistan, it should only take her about a week and a few rupees , you might as well wait til she gets her interview letter so the report is not very old at the interview. If she lived in a different country or 3 different areas of Pakistan, I would start to collect them now.

Please do response, I want to get prepared.

Thanks

Hi everyone.

I am doing a K3 visa for my wife in Pakistan. I just got my I129 approval letter, and a notice from NVC that they are now transferring my case to Pakistan.

How can I check if the consulate has received it, and is there a way to check if they sent the packet to my wife yet, and a tracking number?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to bump my own question, but I was trying to read through this thread for the answer and I am sure I read well over 20 pages, and I did get a lot of useful information but I havent found the answer to this question yet. Can anyone please help me out?

Thank you so much!

Hey Guest234

Hafiz gave great information above. My favorite way of getting info from the Embassy was emailing the question with my husbands "ISL2005XXX" number in the subject line to Pakivinfo@state.gov. I's say they responded to 95% of my email inquiries, much better than any phone inquiries we made - Ping them and ask if they have received your wifes documents and if an interview has been scheduled.
Good luck!

WHY CAN'T THEY BE CLEAR WITH THIS ALL??? The cover letter indicates EVERYTHING before an interview date will even be assigned, but then says to wait on the medical. When he talks to a "chief officer", they tell him conflicting information. ARGH!

DRAG! Sounds like you'll have to add a few weeks on to the interview date. :( We at least had that month from letter to the interview date to gather our docs... I would have hated to gather, send, then wait again.

Hopefully you'll get better news from the email... if not, good luck on the police certs, etc.. and use a reliable carrier to return the stuff to the embassy.
I cant wait to hear when his interview is scheduled.!

Hey Danika,
Nas did the K-3, so the letters/packets may be different (??) His packet had a checklist and information on local doctors. The checklist noted his interview date at the top. We did not return anything prior to the interview.

Did Ali get a cover sheet/letter with his packet that listed all of the docs he needed (DS-230, DS-156, etc)? Have him scan that to you from the local net cafe. If the interview date is missing, definitely email the embassy asap - pakivinfo@state.gov - dont forget to use your ISL2006# in your subject line. (calling the Embassy is such an waste of time. If you get a human, they tend to ignore (eternal hold) or hang up on you :P )

All in all! this is great news! Hopefully he'll have an interview before year end. Does he have his passport?

Also - Omid and Cindishah both did K-1's, they probably have move knowledge on how the embassy in ISL handles the paperwork/interview date.

He's planning on going home immediately to get the police cert. from there - not to the embassy... he's just been phoning the embassy.

So is there anything he needs to submit PRIOR to being given an interview date???

They sent him his packet, but did not mention a date for an interview. I thought he needed to return a few items from the packet IMMEDIATELY, then he'd get a date for an interview. By the interview, he would need the complete packet of information with the police certs and medical, etc... or so I thought.

Am I confused? (obviously I am :D )

The only thing I needed was the Visa to get into Pakistan :D
We were married my 3rd day there, I did not have to show or prove anything to marry Nas.

I would like to ask a question. Can anybody tell me what paperwork i would need (us citizen) to get married to a pakistani in pakistan? Do i need to go to the embassy in Pakistan to get that unmarried document? He goes to school in Russia now and when i visit we plan on going to Pakistan to get married. Then after couple years he will return to Pakistan to live so we could file then. Please any information would be appreciated. Also, when we get to Pakistan we would only have a couple weeks to do this. Is this possible?

Oh my!!!!!!!!!!

Our K1 has been approved (NOA2)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Sept. 26th. I haven't gotten the mail yet, as I'm not yet home. Just found out checking our status. (How come I didn't get an e-mail notification? I have that option turned on...??)

I've been out guiding for a week and unable to check... and all that has happened this week. Ali posted his first posts. He's so sweet and thank you for responding to him Mary and Laney. I haven't gotten to speak with him really yet. I will later today with our good news.

Right now I'm off to the hospital, my uncle has had a massive stroke and is dying. So much happening right now. My heart is heavy and happy at the same time. wow...

I'll try and catch up on all that has happened while I was gone once things settle down with my family. We are very close so this is really hard. Send you thoughts this way if you're so inclined. Is it possible to be this sad and happy at the same time????

Hope all is well with everyone here. Sorry for my long absence - life has been incredibly crazy...

-Danika :D :crying:  :(

Hey Danika - I'm really sorry about your uncle. It must be so hard to have such good news while you are going through this with your family. Our prayers are with you.

and can I say - WOW!!!  Congrats on your rapid approval out in California! His file should be in ISL by Oct 15th(ish). It will be there before you know it, get that I-134 ready :)

Keep us up to date ...

If I let my husband fill all of those forms out, we'd have about 25 RFE's just because his writing is terrible!

I completed all that I could on fillable .pdf's - anything that needed his signature, I would email and have him review, print and return DHL. I tried a few different internet cafe's in ISL when I was there - their ADOBE was generally not up to par and would take 20 minutes to just open one doc - so I could not imagine my sweetie enduring that night mare.....

my husband can Fully READ and Understand English.
he filled it out by his own hands all 3 times.

At what point did I say he could not read or understand english? Of course he does, sometimes better than people who were born here. He's even pretty good at spelling....

I said his writing was terrible and his computer access s*cked. (kisses if you are reading this sweetie!)

Salam everyone. I know I've been gone a longggg time...but life has been busy and I have been reading up just not posting too much.

We're well...still waiting on the hubby's EAD...8 months and counting...USCIS will not respond to inquiries.

Finally our lawyer got through to someone, case pending extra security in Texas. Arghhh...scary stuff

I was told if this does not come through in a few more months (read 1 year!) we may need to file a mandamus action. I'm not sure how i feel about that yet.

Anyone who has been having EAD issues? Mandamus experience? Btw, we are also not being given a temporary work permit for undisclosed reasons.

I have no advice but just wanted to say how sorry I was! That is just terrible! My hubby was climbing the walls after just 4 months of being unemployed, I could not imagine what you 2 are going through :(

I hope you get an answer or an approval soon!

Hafiz, has your hardcopy arrived at the embassy or just the electronic file.

In my case the electronic file arrived two weeks ago from NVC but according to ISL embassy they are waiting for the hardcopy before proceeding. Any idea how long this takes? Thanks

Hello. I, am a US citizen and my spouse is in Islamabad. I filed his K-3 back in May and got notice from the USCIS on 7/27 that the case is being transferred to the NVC so it can be sent to Pakistan. It looks like an interview should be scheduled in September hopefully. I understand that all visa applicants must now go through a security clearance in Washington after the interview and this can take anywhere from 45 days-several months. Does anyone have any idea how long it's taking on average for this? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

15 months since we filed and 199 days of AR/AP - but it's all done now!!!!!!!!!!! Alhamdulilah!!! We're hoping to have him here in a week or two insha'Allah - I'm still in utter shock and disbelief - at a minimum I thought they would give it to him a day later - OMG!!!!

(wow, you're digging deep in this thread :P )
Our A/R was pretty uneventful - they never came to his house or work or questioned his family. I just called the DOS weekly to find out the status of our case. I never asked which clearances the Embassy requested. After the ADMIN REV they asked him to come back to the Embassy with 300 pages of Chat sessions. He picked up the VISA 3 days later.
Good luck and keep posting your status.

Hey Omid!
I'm assuming your SO is at the Embassy at this moment. Insha'allah we all wake up to some good news.
You guys are in our prayers.
Laney and Naseer

Insha'Allah we'll hear some good news coming out of ISL next week.
