We are on the process of fixing our papers ever since we got our NOA2. I was wondering if anyone had a format of an employment letter? We are planning to just make it and have the HR company re-print and sign it. Does anyone have a copy or format?

lol @ competition. I totally feel ya on that. But then when I read consulate reviews about UK they barely even look through your evidence it seems and they ask very straight forward questions. I think all will be ok :)



I don't think there's anything to worry about in regards to the online. Go by that paper, for sure! it's official!!

i'm so confused, on monday my bf told me he got the NOA2 on the mail... i checked the uscis website and it hasn't been updated, and he hasn't gotten the text saying we have been approved... the "NOA2" is dated on may 2th... i called the NVC today and they haven't gotten it and today is 12!!!

i just dont get it, i dont know what the heck he got... i doubt is the NOA2.

any thoughts ????

Same thing that happened to us. Case Status is still "Initial Review", no text or e-mail, but last May 6th, he got the NOA2 in the mail. Safe to say, we were both extremely surprised! We called NVC, but it's still too early, and our NOA2 is dated May 3. We'll call again tomorrow. Weird, huh?

By the way guys,

I know that this might have been a fluke, but a pretty good one!
Yesterday morning, I had my fiancée CALL uscis, just to check if we were approved and they said that they haven't processed us yet. Which I accepted since we were not at our 5 month mark yet.. But then last night we got approved... fluke or did that call help?
for you people still waiting on your NoA 2's maybe it's worth a shot just to call in a friendly matter, specially if you are not at your 5 month mark yet

Yep! We called a couple days before the 5 month mark. Hubby was so calm. If I were to call, you'd here the impatience in my voice. He was polite. Next day, NOA2. :thumbs:

OHH there totally is a "like" button on VJ!! If you notice at the bottom of each post there is a gree + symbol in the bottom right corner along with a number box. When you push the green plus symbol (and are logged in) it will change the number from 0 to 1 or 2 or 3... depending on how many likes you can have.

Although I'm not clear what the limit is, since I found that button I've been liking posts left and right..the other day it said I got to my "like limit" and had to wait till the next day to continue liking stuff. hahaha... I broke the like button on VJ. classic.

it is my first time to post a comment on visajourney.com. I just saw the personal messages that Mari and Lizy left, thank you guys for the congrats.

My fiance filed I-129F on December 1st, and got our NOA1 on December 6th. NOA2 was approved on April 11th and it was from California Service Center.

I am going to fly to the U.S. on June 10th, do you guys think I can get the visa by then? :( I hope so!

Okay, after much "fondling" from Mari, here's my recipe from the good 'ole Philippines. I was taking so long because I can't decide on which one I'd like to put in the book, but I finally decided on one and here it is!

It's called the TORTANG TALONG. In other words, eggplant omelette. LOL. It's really good, with or without the ground port/beef. :blush:

This is the classic tortang talong recipe. But look out for the tip at the end of the post. If you like this recipe and would like to be even more adventurous, try my tortang utak ng baboy (pig’s brain frittata). No, it’s not one for the Fear Factor. There’s nothing disgusting about the way it looks or smells. Just great food.

Ingredients :

250 g. of ground lean pork
1 tbsp. of finely minced garlic
1/2 c. of finely chopped onions
3/4 c. of coarsely chopped tomatoes
1 bell pepper, finely chopped
4 eggs, beaten
1 tbsp. of flour
4-5 talong (eggplants)
salt and pepper
cooking oil


Cooking procedure :

Mix together all the ingredients except the eggplants and the cooking oil.

Cook the eggplants (boil, steam, grill or broil) until soft but not mushy. Peel off the skins, leaving the stems intact. Using a fork, flatten the meat of the eggplants. Divide the pork mixture into as many eggplants you prepared. Place the mixture on the flattened eggplants, patting the meat to make sure it is compact.

Heat a skillet or wok. Add about 2 tbsp. of cooking oil and heat until smoking. Carefully slide one stuffed eggplant onto the hot oil. Cook over medium-high heat, about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Add more cooking oil as you cook a new eggplant.

Serve with catsup.

If you want a really special tortang talong, lay a slice of cheese on the flattened eggplant before adding the pork mixture on top.


Don't forget steaming white rice and a glass of Coke with some "sabaw" of sinigang and nilaga. Eff the carbs!!!

From Singapore: Hainanese chicken rice
(Please note that it is a Singaporean dish, and not a Hainan dish, and apparently, there is no Hainanese chicken rice on Hainan island/or it taste really different)

You can find it at any Hawker Centre in Singapore, and the rice is extremely fragrant, with sesame oil, and key is having awesome chilli sauce.

Taken from Asian recipes

For the Chicken

2 kg whole chicken

1 inch bruised ginger

2 cloves crushed garlic

2 tablespoons sesame oil

1 teaspoon light soy sauce or to taste



For the Rice

4 cups long grain rice

3 cloves sliced garlic

1 inch sliced ginger

1 tablespoon cooking oil

5~6 cups chicken stock

Salt to taste

2 teaspoon sesame oil



For Chili sauce

6 fresh red chilies, seed removed

1 clove garlic

1 inch ginger

Salt to taste

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon vinegar

2 teaspoons chicken stock

Using a big pot, bring the water to the boil. Add the chicken, ginger and garlic into the boiling water. Do not cover the pot. Boil for about 2~3 minutes before turning off the heat and cover for approximately 15~20 minutes for it to cool. Repeat the boiling and cooling process the second time. Use a fork or chopstick to test the doness of the chicken. Once properly cooked, take the chicken out and place it in a bowl. Pour cool boiled water over the chicken to stop the cooking eventhough it has been removed from the heat. Mix the soy sauce and sesame oil in a small bowl. Brush the mixture on the chicken. Find a well ventilated spot and hang the chicken. Keep enough of the chicken stock for te rice and chili sauce to be used later.



The remainder chicken stock can be reboiled for another 10 minutes with the cut pieces of the chicken legs and wings. Season the chicken stock with 2 cups of the vegetables of your preference. Continue to simmer until cooked. Add salt and pepper to seaon. Add the scallions. Keep the stock warm

Preparing Rice

Wash and drain the long grain rice. Heat the oil in the rice cooker and saute the garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add the well drained rice and fry for another 3 minutes. Add the chicken stock, salt and sesame oil. Cook until all the liquid has been absorbed without closing the cover. Then cover the pot tightly and reduce the heat until it is cooked.

Preparing Chili sauce

Mix all ingredients in a food processor and blend. Add in the chicken stock and place in a sauce bowl.

LOL yeah...Am Flip. Dad is Ret. Army Officer.. Born in So. Calif moved to Nor Cal later. Family in PI are mostly from Northern part. Kinda mixed in the bloodline; Castillian (Conquistadors) & Greek (Spartan)... no wonder I have a little temper when you mix that with an Islander!!!! ha ha.:lol: I tried to warn Kadir about this.


Cool! My fiance is Filipino also, but grew up in the States. And what do you know, he's from the Northern part of the Philippines as well.

Hahahaha!! I know! Me too, my temper and frustration shows, but my guy already knows that cause he's almost always on the receiving line.

Zumba!!! I think that's a great workout although, I'd rather watch somebody else do it. OK get this. I just got a new mat ; I signed up for yoga class!!! I really want the flexibility.
