IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresds-230 question 40
Ok so i have a caution on my police certificate for a minor shoplifting offense over 3 year ago. It never went to court and i was never charged or anything like that. I know shoplifting is a cimt so on question 40 where it asks if you're:

an alien convicted of or who admits having committed a cimt

do i tick yes or no? cos i'm not sure if it comes under some petty offense act or something.

Then later on, on Q41 it asks if you have ever been charged, convicted or arrested. Do i need to tick yes to that as well?

arghh im so confused.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCr-1 Approved in London :D
Me and my son were approved at the US embassy in London yesterday. It went really smooth even with my police caution for theft.. I was really worried that we would be denied because of it but they really didn't care. yay!! :D

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdaughter has had 2 police HI All cautions
Honestly, i don't think you have anything to worry about cause they're just cautions. When I went for my interview in London I had a caution on my police certificate from 2008 for shoplifting and the woman who was interviewing me just said don't worry cautions don't matter :) they aren't a formal judgement of guilt. Just tell the truth and you will be fine.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTravelling on visa in Passport
Honestly the best thing to do is go to the social security office as soon as you can and ask them for a ss number then you'll get it within 14 days. I was waiting for mine for 2months then decided I couldn't be bothered to wait any longer so i went in and they had no record of me. I guess even though i ticked the box stating i wanted a ss number they forgot to process it.. this has happened to a few people it seems.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA Couple Tax Questions

I claimed my wife and stepdaughter when they were still in the Philippines. Just so you are legally married during the years you claim them as dependents. Doesn't matter where they live.

Awesome because I wasn't sure. I mean since they don't live with me I'm not exactly providing them with shelter and food etc. I didn't know how the government would really see it. Thanks for the response!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA Couple Tax Questions

Not quite sure am sure there are others that know the tax thing better than me.
From my experience my wife added me to her tax when i got here and we had got married
this also helped towards the AOS information as joint tax filing...
I am pretty sure you need to wait until
they are here, but not 100% sure.
good luck.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Last thing I want is to be accused of is screwing the US gov't out of money. lol

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA Couple Tax Questions
Hi everyone. Just want to say you all rock! We've been following this site for months now and recently joined. Who needs a lawyer when you are all so helpful.

So, QUICK QUESTION!
I, Christian, the petitioner, will be filing for the I-130 as soon as we get copies of our marriage cert. (We're newly weds you see)I will be filing for my Wife in the UK and her 4 year old son. (She wasn't married before)

:ot2: My question is, on my income tax and federal taxes do I claim 3? or Just 2? I don't know how it works since he will technically be my step child and they won't be living with me until we get the final ok with the I-130 > CR-1 stuff. So do I include them or what??

Hope you all have some advice and thank you!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAre visits to the US during the process allowed?
I'm also flying from england in 2 week to stay with my husband in virginia for 2 and half week and I'm kinda worried too. haha. I don't have a job but I do have a lease on a house and i'm leaving my son with my parents for 2 week so i'm just gonna get a letter from my mum saying she's looking after my son till a certain date then. it's kinda scary not knowing whether they'll let you in or not. just take your phone contract and stuff. I'm sure you'll be ok. You're probably just overly paranoid like me. Haha
Good luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresvisiting with Visa Waiver Program during K1 processing
I went to see my husband a few week ago and I used the vwp and we have a cr-1 pending. I too don't have a job in the England but I got a letter from my mum saying she was looking after my son for 3 week and I also took my phone bills and tenancy agreement. The officer guy at philly didn't even care at all.. All he asked was who I was visiting and I said my husband and he asked where he worked and that was it.. he didn't even ask how much money I had on me which I thought was odd. Just try and take as much evidence as you can like phone bills, doctors appointments etc.. and pack light. I've visited using the vwp while he was my boyfriend and fiance as well and i've never had them ask for evidence but i've always had some ready just incase.. haha.. I hope it all goes smoothly for ya. :)

Were you ever asked anything about medical insurance? I think I read about this somewhere but can't remember where..do we need it?

I wish you best of luck on your trip. Hopefully I will be there when you let us know how it all goes for you :) Good luck to you as well!

No, I was never asked about insurance although I did take a copy of my travel insurance with me.

I think you'll be fine. I've visited my husband when he was my boyfriend/ fiance and husband and i've never even been asked for anything but my return ticket and what his job is. I don't have a job here but i do leave my son with my parents while i go visit and I always get my mum to write me a letter saying he's at school there and when they're returning to work etc.. If you have any doctors appointment letters or repeat prescriptions take them with ya as proof as well. I think you'll be fine and I can't see why they judge you on the way you look. I'm going back for a 2 week visit on the 29th too :) Good luck :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling while waiting
You'll be fine. I'm in the US with my husband now for 15 days and we already have our noa2. I had no problems at poe. Infact, I've never had any problem and i've visited when he's been my boyfriend, fiance and husband. This is my second time this year visiting. I've never been asked for anything other than my noa1 and return ticket. :D
