I was thinking...I know we (VSC filers) have started to get interview dates...I wonder if it would be a good idea to list them and update them as people are approved...I know we do that on the UK thread, and it always gives me a lift to see names with a big red "APPROVED" next to it!!!

I wouldn't mind starting one if everyone is amenable...

I think its a great idea Dawn.

Im getting really nervous now, hope it all goes ok for us too. I have been unable to send packet 3 back yet as both my parents are deceased and my father died over 25 years ago and we have to find the exact date of death which is becoming difficult.

I know one reason is that we were very much prepared and have everything in order, this is in no small part due to all of you here! Thank you! good.gif

Good luck with your medical and interview!!!!!!!!!

Dawn

Could you give some feedback on Darrens medical experience, im getting really nervous about it. Thanks

No need to be nervous u think its gonna take a long time but its all over in about ten minutes or so.
all he/she does is confirm name date of birth the usaul thing first. Then its just a matter of checking blood pressure a few taps here and there on the front and back. Then he/she takes blood for testing but generally its over in less than 2 minutes. The medical is not that embarrassing as they only have just a quick peak down there for us guys although this may be different for the ladies. after this is the chest xray which is not a problem. after he has check the xray and paid u r free to go. if there was anything i would say to do it would be leave plenty of time to get there u think it won't take long to get there but we both walked straight past it even if it was raining at the time its not obvious as to where its is good luck too all

Thanks Darren I appreciate your feedback, do they give you the xrays at this point or do you get given them by the embassy.

I'm sure everyone on here knows the "dreadful" walk pretty well.. You know the one from the airport to the car after you've made a fool of yourself saying "I love you" about 100 times, having a teary-eyed face, and waving over and over again as you watch your SO go through the security gate where you can no longer go.. Yeah that dreadful walk..

Well I survived. I'm back home, unfortunately....

I hope everyone is having a good day. Atleast the weather is nice...

Yep I know it well but last time I left was the easiest knowing it was gonna be the last sad goodbye.

No approval, no touches, no thing for us. sad.gif

But I do have some good news today... I GOT A NEW JOB! kicking.gif

That's right, no more Starbucks soon. I will be working at a bank, at their top branch in North Jersey. That's right, a real job, working with people my own age. LOL.

I'm actually kind of upset though, believe it or not. It's that whole "major life change drpression thing".. I really love my co-workers, and I love the job too. It just that the pay is horrendous, the work is extrememly physical and upper management (Target, not Starbucks) treats us poorly.

Something interesting about the new job is that its full-time, but only a four day work week. Every other weekend off, with three days off per week. Sounds like it could be nice. Wish it was Mon-Fri like a regular office job, but I guess that won't happen for me.

My dad is going to stay at the house to provide childcare until Gerry gets here, whenever that finally is. Can't see it happening before mid-July now.

So yep, that's my good news. Now I get to look forward to the stress of giving notice to the current job.

Congrats on your new job thats great news. kicking.gif kicking.gif

By the way, Amanda+Stephen - how were you able to tell your case left VSC?? Now I'm frantically gathering up all information related to the next step... I am sooo ready to get this show on the road!! smile.gif

As Gaye stated, just called the NVC - basically, my file was touched the day after approval (from USCIS site), I assumed that was the day it left for NVC, because never updated on the USCIS site again. I was going to call 2 days later, but I figured they had probably just received it (and that was Good Friday) so I waited and called on Monday and gave the USCIS case number and answered the other questions (beneficiary name and DOB) and the man informed me it had arrived on Friday and couldn't tell me anything else, he suggested calling back in a week. I called back on Tuesday, and a woman informed me it was leaving the NVC that day. I'd say give it two days, and then call. Then using the posts here about DHL, we were able to track our package (it was the only one going to Frankfurt all last week!)

And then the unfortunate part, we had hoped packet 3 would come while I was still visiting, so we could do the forms together. We left to catch the train to Cologne on Saturday around noon. My flight was yesterday morning. Anyhow, when he got back home, he had Packet 3 waiting for him ... so now I'm busy scrambling to get things filled out on my end that I need to send him. If only had been one day sooner!! wacko.gif

Anyhow, calling the NVC is a breeze, but do it either early in the morning or late at night East Coast time ... otherwise it will loop you through the automated system once and then pass you back, and tell you all representatives are busy and then hang up on you smile.gif

It all starts moving a lot faster now .... so happy for you!!!

Ok so just tried calling NVC to see if the case had arrived. The lady told me it would take 2-4 weeks and to check back at the END of April.... I'm really hoping she doesn't know what she's talking about. I even told her that it was a K1 visa and gave her the receipt number she asked for and she indicated that it hasn't been received yet. I think I may try calling the DoS instead. blink.gif

I would just try calling tommorow, i dont think the dos can help until you have the nvc reciept number but I may be wrong.

I think everyone's concerns are completely normal. Just remember you are entering into a partnership. You and your significant other will work a method that's best for you.

As far as the cooking and cleaning... those of you who don't have much experience cooking, that's all it is, is experience! You will learn, and you will mess up many of meals, but those are the times that sometimes even make relationships stronger. Marco and I have many times sat at the dinner table and choked down something I made, and then laughed about it and then cleaned up together.

Gaye as far as house cleaning, it's surely not fun, but it's definitely not rocket science! You'll be fine, don't worry smile.gif

As for those of you who live with in-laws, just try to keep your space. My Mom recently moved in with us because she lost her job. Trust me there are times when it's not absolutely convenient, but then there are times when she cooks and cleans and it's nice to have family around.

All I can say is at the end of the day, everyone will find a way. Surely if we survive the K1 process, simple things like... 'living' can't hold us back smile.gif

yep nice post there ty

dbears, it's normal to be scared of the big change, especially for your kids, but don't worry too much, they will be fine even if they miss their country because their wonderful mom and their new dad will be with them. And if anything happens at school (but probably not, try to trust Ricky when he says they'll be fine), you'll help them kick the a$$es of the bad kids tongue.gif
And who knows, it might be easier for them to adjust than for you!
I'm sure you will all be fine smile.gif

To be honest I dont think it would be normal not to be scared about moving to another country and the huge culture shock that is involved, but saying that with the support of your partner this should be easier.

Jay and I have discussed this and he knows my concerns and my worries, the things I'll miss too from home.

He has four sisters and they say they are looking forward to getting a new sister and I think thats sweet.

That actually doesn't seem too far-fetched!

From what I read on the embassy website, it takes about a month from NVC receiving the package to the interview date. I'd just make sure all the preliminary stuff is done, like police certificate, etc...and that you are ready to have packet 3 mailed back very quickly!

QUOTE (Liam and Sam @ Mar 31 2008, 09:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thanks for all the replies on what to do next!!! Knowing that in a week our case could potentially be flying over the ocean to its final destination is comforting. Things do indeed speed up from this point forward.

I know it's a bit far fetched but we would love love to go to Sydney together for the interview when I'm down there in May. I'm not relying on it, but it would definitely be a nice way to end the process. smile.gif

Thanks again.

I havent recieved packet 3 yet, but at the moment im not worried as I dont want it all to happen to quickly.

The Frankfurt embassy moves WAY fast. Just make sure you have the documents that are shown under "Embassy Info" and you'll be set.

The longest thing to get is the police certificate. That took like 3 weeks to come in.

Once you send packet 3 back, you'll have an interview date scheduled in less than a week. Good luck!

I wonder if the Easter holiday will slow it down much.

Here in NJ, many people go on vacation the week that kids have off from school (either the week before or after Easter). And it's usually to go to WDW. I hate to think there may be cases just sitting on someone's desk for a week while they are off riding It's A Small World for the third time in a row!

I actually thought it would speed up in the week or so before. You know, people wanting to clear their desks and such. Maybe that's more of a Christmastime thing.

I had thought something similar, but i'm told by my SO that they don't take holidays in the US the way we do here in the UK. First off they don't get as much allocated days as we do, and second, they have to use holidays for their sick time too? So perhaps not too many folks will take off for Easter after all.

I'm hoping to get my NOA2 by mid April, and then be leaving the UK by the end of May.......

Hope is good isn't it?

I would like to be there for my birthday in June but who knows lol

Filed on February 8th... touched on the 24th (Sunday), nothing since... I know I shouldn't even be expecting anything but all these January NOA2s and even a couple Febs got me excited

There aren't enough hours in the day for me to get done what I need to so i'm rarely looking for things to do. Another job should help you to stay busy. Tending bar should be fun for you! My mom(57) is retired but tends bar for fun and loves it!

Thats an amazing achievement well done.

Oh, I know how you feel! I had my man here with me for a year and a half and now it just seems like a piece of me is living on the other side of the world. And i've not even filed yet! I know it's hard. Thank goodness I have my kids and my business to keep me busy and my days usually fly by. Perhaps it's time to think of a new activity/hobby you can do? Maybe another p/t job? Perhaps something you can do as a surprise for your SO when you are finally together? I guess what i'm saying is try to use the energy you're building up towards positive things. Afterall... you wouldn't be in so much pain about all of this if you weren't so in love with him! wink.gif And love... is the greatest power and gift there is. Of course, tequila is good medicine now and then too! :lol Just be safe about it! Too bad you're not in Massachusetts! laughing.gif

Good Advice there Kim wtg hon

I'm just glad that we have VJ as a place where we can all come and support each other. If I didn't have this I might have lost my mind a long time ago.

I'm having a sucky week - I got a fine today from a policeman who made me sit in the back of his car while he wrote me a ticket for answering my mobile phone while i was driving. Add that to my dentist visit on Wednesday and I seriously need something good to happen before this week finishes!

I really appreciate the support as well. If I didn't have this forum I think I might be hitting the refresh button on the USCIS site every ten minutes. I'm sensing there are a few of us who are having "one of those weeks." Hopefully this weekend will be a bit better - they like to do things on Sundays at VSC for some reason. Crossing my fingers! yes.gif

I had another quick question for those of you who received your NOA2, do you think the system is updating overnight and you don't see it until the next morning or this an automatic thing where they press a button and instantaneously you get your email and updated status online. Even for my RFE response received they said March 11 but I didn't actually see it updated online until the 12th. Just wondering.

Good luck to everyone and hope that today ends the week better for you all. I know I'm already feeling a bit braindead at work.

I was told it was update at 11pm but i dont know lol

Did anyone notice, our list has gone past the halfway done mark...more approvals than waiting...

Good sign...APPROVALS ARE COMING!!!

Oh yes... I noticed.

*pessimism warning*
It only means we are getting closer to being the only ones on the list. Why can't January be the first month when no one gets left behind? yes.gif

I am worried about two potential snags in our case. Firstly, my divorce was finalized only a week before we filed. Yes, I sent in copies of all the paperwork with the official seals and all, but who knows how they will view it. If they RFE it, other than sending in the originals, there is nothing 'more official' that can be sent. Secondly, my SO has a very common name that will no doubt generate a huge list to check over. Not a big deal if it only adds extra time to our case, but what if they mix him up with one of the bad names on the list?? Ugh. I just want this done already.

Originally I was very worried about this as well. So I hunted around for stories similar to my own (I had a very unhappy and quick first marriage that legally ended a month before I filed). It's not USCISs job to hand out judgement - it's their job to make sure the relationship is genuine and not fraud.
Their prerequisites don't say "you have to be divorced for a certain period of time" they say you have to be legally able to marry - and you are. Don't worry it'll be fine.

And my SO has a very very common name as well - which is why I think the continuation of file touching (background checks being cleared maybe??). I am scared to go back through my petition to find out what the hold up is... I'm already nervous that I made another simple mistake! ohmy.gif

I am starting to be a bit pessimistic as well as I watch February filers get approved. Don't get me wrong - I am so so so so happy for everyone but I wish I could join in the celebrating!

Good luck I hope you hear something soon

I can't help but wonder what checks do they do when they get our petition?

My SO's second name isn't particularly common I don't think....'Bergman'.....and he was in the US Marine Corps for 8 years so he should have an exemplary record.....

it just makes you wonder sometimes, Jay and I have been in a relationship for 7 years what more proof is there lol. And others have been approved after me that only met once lol
