Good Sunday morning April.

I had a good long sleep in this morning after a long day in the hot 95 degree sun yesterday. We did a collection downtown for the 3-day in memory of a friend who died last year of breast cancer. She was just 39 and left her husband and 2 small boys. sad.gif Keeps things a bit more in perspective, no? wink.gif

I do hope this is our week pip! I'd love to see them clear out the end of March / early April filers tomorrow.....and then have an explosion of mid April approvals..including ours...on Tuesday! laughing.gif

I will be keeping everything crossed for you Kim yes.gif

I am quite sure we won't get any answer... I just wonder what could be wrong with our petition. Sorry to be so anxious, but I am sure everyone here will understand. We already lost two months at the beginning, and I really hoped to have that approval before Michael comes here next week.

I am sorry to be blunt but just because you havent received the approval it doesnt mean there is something wrong with it.

Approvals are coming in around your dates it will come but this process requires patience.

Still nothing.. And getting close to the four-month mark. I wonder whether it would be any use if Michael called VSC and asked why people who filed later than us are being approved... What do you think?

Personally I dont think you will get a satisfactory answer, they have always approved out of order its not unusual.

It will come soon..

Thank you to everybody for the warm congratulations. The plan from the beginning was to have the final interview like mid-August and to get married in September. I thought we would have plenty of time to spare, but now it seems to be just right.

And for those who are touch deprived, I only had the one customary touch about a month after the filing of my K-1. While if I had a choice, touches are nice, they were not indicative of any immediate action on my file.

Stay positive April,

Brian

Congrats Brian!!!!!!!!

Good morning April

Nice to see you back Graham.

Every day feels more and more anxious, doesn't it? I do hope the approvals we see this week are a sign that it's picking up again.

HiTech posted these stats yesterday on the percentage of VJ approvals for each week since April 1st. I have no idea how accurate they are as I haven't checked them personally but he seems like a numbers guy so here you go...

4/1/2008 6.10%
4/8/2008 7.32%
4/15/2008 9.76%
4/22/2008 13.41%
4/29/2008 24.39%
5/6/2008 31.71%
5/13/2008 37.80%
5/20/2008 40.24%
5/27/2008 50.00%
6/3/2008 59.76%
6/10/2008 63.41%
6/17/2008 68.29%

It shows the slow down as we've all experienced it but it also shows that things have steadily sped up. Let's hope this trend continues. I'm itching to celebrate with my April friends!!!

Make it a good day!

Good luck April hope you get your approvals soon

you have to enter the usa and a fiance, single not married with the k1. Ive seen some get denied for doing religoius ceremony in their own country.

Fernanda, I do hope you hear something on the waiver soon and I hope that we all find a nice email from CRIS in the coming days! wink.gif

I hear you Jill....
All of my work is online... I fix software/hardware...design graphics, create and maintain websites, host my own server and have a personal website/forum with tons of members that i've hosted for a decade. I'm online all the time and VJ calls me all day and all night! I do stay very positive for the most part as I am definitely a glass half full girl but it's hard setting my psyche back on the right path sometimes. Very much like Graham, going over the numbers helps me. Even though I understand it's such a small percentage, having something tangible that shows we're moving in the right direction helps a lot. Going over Igor's list and confirming that most of the first 20 of those listed are probably either approved or waiting for another reason helped me some as well. We're #99 today and into the double digits. That should keep me going for the morning! laughing.gif

Kim

I was 63 on igors list when I got approved, so it may be sooner than you think hon

Stephanie, I hope you are approved before Garreth's visit mid-July! Your estimations with London seem right on. It seems about a month from NOA2 to receiving packet 3. Email is the best way to communicate with that Embassy and if you have a solid wedding date you probably want to mention that as 'sometimes' those who have a date get pushed through quicker. wink.gif

Thanks for that info!!

Stephanie

For some extra info, when I had sent packet three back after about 5 days I contact the Dos and they confirmed that packet 3 had been recieved and whether an interview had been scheduled.

Hope this helps

VSC has a long history of fast approvals...that being a few weeks from noa1 to noa2. The slow down last year really skewed the data and messed with people's expectations. Last September I expected we could wait up to 6 months for this part since we didn't know when they'd be caught up with the backlog. Many of last year's April filers were approved in a month. So in January when everyone started getting approved in a months time I thought they were just getting back to their norm. They seemed to be for a while but now it appears it's a little longer again, for whatever reason. All I know is that right now, looking at recent data, it's looking like approx. 60 days for an approval.

They claim to go by received date and not noa1 date but there is no consistency for approvals with either number when looking at the data ....so, to me it looks like they throw all recently delivered files up into the air and hope they land in a box. laughing.gif

The only think we know with any certainty... is that there is no certainty! laughing.gif

I choose to remain cautiously optomistic and believe that it will be a mid-June approval for us.

p.s. GO GET EM SAL!!! good.gif

Yesterday, another March filer was approved in under 60 days. Almost 10% of all the March VJ filers have received NOA2's this week so far. star_smile.gif

A really good week for March filers, unless your a GHE person.

I think I will order my tax transcripts next week. I would rather my SO present those as part of my financial proof, instead of my actual tax returns. A one page summary for each year would be easier for the consulate to review, than sifting through my returns.

Susita, I am glad you got confirmation that you were "touched."

I have a feeling that someone soon will be the first to get approved.

Brian

I reckon for what its worth you will start seeing approvals at end of this month. hope its earlier.

Never been to England before, it should be fun when I attempt to find my way to the London embassy !

When I was in the states, that is when I realised how much of a tan I didnt have!, there was even a guy selling DC maps at the subway who said to Steven "I know your american" and then looked at me and said "but where are you from" I didnt even speak blush.gif .

I also was attacked by mosquitos, we never see mosquitos here, I went to the pharmacist and he said "omg, didnt you have protection" but Steven never even told me they have a crazy ####### mosquito thing in Maryland!

No more will I stand out against the tanned americans!, not until I speak anyway, there were alot of "whats" on my first visit.

What is everyones favourite thing about the USA? or your SO's country, or your own. Or all 3!

I fell in love with Ice Cream cake!, when I had my first one in The States I was amazed, alot of "a Cake, made out of...Ice cream, no way" !

My favourite is chilli dogs, hot dogs which chilli meat on the top, yummy.

I agree with the chilli dog thing, they are great!! And what about hamburger helper??? A meal fit for a king I tell you!

P.S. We got touched again today smile.gif

As some of you may remember, we originally were February filers, but lost almost two months due to my fiancé check being rejected because it had a different address (I wonder why it took them that long to realize it, but I also know we shouldn't be surprised about anything at this point). Our petition was sent for the second time on March 28, but as our NOA1 was sent on April 1, I suppose we can consider ourselves April filers as well!

I've been checking the USCIS website almost every day, and we haven't had any touches so far - though I know it's not really that important. Let's just hope VSC starts churning out approvals by early May, since it seems to have somewhat slowed down in the past few weeks.

Hi folks.... well, we're official!

Well, as stated... we've finaly got the paperwork sent yesterday and we're stoked about that! It was no easy task though! Some of you know that i've already waited years for my ex to sign the divorce agreement. Russell being booted from the country...etc. Well if that wasn't enough... I had everything scanned in, forms filled out...etc all stored on my hard drive for months now. Just waiting to be printed up and organized into the packet. Well, after printing off all our pictures and a few other things on Sunday I went to reboot and windows wouldn't load. It was late and because I work with computers I thought 'no big deal' I will finish up tomorrow... yes well, turns out my hard drive failed and I couldn't get to any of it. After diagnosing the problem, I didn't have time to see if I could copy the drive over and had to get on another computer at home and scan and print everything again. I had to dig for emails that were still on my server and not downloaded to outlook. Lost all our chat sessions...etc. Needless to say, I was up pretty late getting that all done. On top of that, I had 4 calls into registrar of deeds office last week to make sure I could pick up my decree yesterday....with no call back. I decided I'd take the 1/2 hour drive into the city and drop in to see if I could get it anyway. When I got there I was sent to an entirely different building...where I was sent back to the same place I started!! At this point all I could do is shake my head. Anyway, I got it! From that moment on nothing else seemed to matter and I was all smiles! I spent about 40 minutes in line at the post office and sent the package overnight. As soon as I got into my office I had a call from the registrar's office.... my decree was ready to be picked up! I just had to laugh! The girl that called was the same one who had actually typed it up for me yesterday while I waited. Too funny.

So the package was very well organized and very throrough, with tabbed off sections and I went over everything twice but I still worry because of the loss of all my previous information and the mad rush in which I put it together again. It still feels really good to have it done and to be in the waiting game. I know for many this is the part they stress about most and maybe after a few weeks of waiting we'll get there too ...but we've waited SOOOO long just to get to this point and for now, we're just so happy to be on to the next chapter. I did take a few pics of the petition package on my cell to send to Russell and would be happy to share if anyone is interested.

As far as the CSC vs VSC disparity.... when we first started posting at VJ they were still in the backlog from the influx in July and it was taking 6-10 months for an approval at both offices. Even though i'm not with CSC, it still infuriates me that they have not taken lessons from VSC to speed up their process. It's very unfair! Of course, we're thrilled to be filing with Vermont..but after watching so many wait like that last year and after waiting so many years just to be together we're really happy to just be able to finally file!

Thanks for all the support! It really helps keeps things in perspective knowing we're not alone!

Hi Brian... sorry I missed your post yesterday. The biggest reason i'm sending a personal check is so I can have my numbers off the back and can register with USCIS asap! wink.gif I'm a super techy (always on the computer) as it's what I do for a living so I do everything online. I haven't written a check a years! Ordered them especially for this! Nico... I hope your bank balance diminishes today! laughing.gif

How did you guys package your petition??? What did you send?? I've been here long enough to know how it works... i'm just curious...or maybe nosey! laughing.gif

I'm going to staples today to get some ACCO fastners and believe i'll put a two-hole punch at the top and index everything with tabs. We've got 10 years of information/pics/history... so i'm trying to keep it light but thorough! wink.gif

btw... Where are you all from??? Im in North Central Massachusetts....HUGE red sox/pats fan!

Vermont received my fiance petition today, April Fool's Day. Which is appropriate because I am a fool in love. yes.gif

I just hope that the speedy Vermont processing times continue for us Vermont filers. I have really enjoyed reading the Vermont filers threads for Jan., Feb., and March. I just love those recent timelines where the filers have already received NOA2's.

And I love the ongoing Juarez, Mexico thread. Especially the long post by Ronin last year with a great commentary and about a dozen photo's. I feel like I have already been there and done it.

Anyway, I look forward to sharing the Visa Journey with this great web forum. Now, I just need to research how to set up an official timeline. wink.gif

Brian

Good luck with your journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAverage time at the NVC...

Hi everyone!

I am just curious to see if anyone knows the average time that our applications will stay at the National Visa Center.... I am new and anxious to know more about how much time it will be to wait.

Thanks!
Molly

It is hard to say, I was lucky mine was only there 2 days before being sent to the embassy, but if you get held up in additional processing or name checks it could be a long time.

When USCIS claims that the current processing time is 6 months--do they mean 6 months until the NOA2? or 6 months until you get the visa?

They quote 6 months to approval but most are quicker, mine was 6 weeks. Good luck for a fast approval.

Some have suggested that unless the initial reason for denial is not cleared up first, the K-3 shall end up being denied as well. It's very important to find out precisely why one was denied and take care of whatever is asked of you.

Also, looking at your timeline, it appears that you've received an RFE. This is not the same as denial. So long as you adequately provide what was requested, your petition shall likely be approved. One fellow received an RFE toward the end of January and has yet to be approved, but this does not mean there is a problem. Some adjudicators wait a while and then take care of all their RFE petitions at once. Your petition may be delayed for several more weeks.

All the best.

The OP received their RFE over a year ago.

When I was getting nervous about this I could never find a clear answer either. But I think ThaitoUSA is right that what is holding up your K1 could possible hold up your K3.

if you dont respond to an rfe within the time limit they give it results in automatic denial.

Just wanted to share our fabulous news with everyone! We're approved! Opened my email this morning when I got to work and jumped out of my chair and into the air laughing.gif

I had tears of happiness in my eyes!

Looks like CSC is really getting their act together and pumping out approvals. I have a feeling all of the November files will be approved in the next couple of weeks.

Hooray! kicking.gif
