We've used all sorts of different search sites (Travelocity, Opodo, etc) to find which airlines have what flights scheduled from Heathrow/Gatwick to NYC and for how much... but have never failed to get the cheapest rate by then booking directly through the airline website itself.

We've recently used BA, Continental and American. Never managed to get a Virgin flight.
He's of course happy when BA comes in the cheapest. wink.gif

Well that post i did earlier was for the same BA flight but £100 cheaper if booked though travelocity!!

I always flew with BA.. almost every time the plane was quite empty and i got to sit where ever I liked and even lay across the 3 seats. then our last BA plane we booked got canceled and their call line was closed so we had no way to find out what to do.. they were nice enough to put us on Virgin.. then BA started to have strikes so we switched to Virgin since then but the last Virgin flight I took wasn't near as nice as BA. both going and coming home were about 2 hours delayed! annoying.. probably going back to BA for his last flight home but trying to avoid heathrow because they're losing tons of baggage these days and travelers insurance doesn't cover it any more!

Yes I agree, Il fly BA home to Jay, and I think there luggage allowance is good, but it may be the same as others not sure. I have to fly into Atlanta and they only go from Gatwick, now that is a pain lol.

Depends where your flying to and from i guess, never had my luggage lost but know people that have on virgin;

I think BA are quality to fly with and would more than likely choose to fly with them smile.gif

Yes I agree, they are more comfortable than others Ive flown with for sure.

I know from Delta through JFK we've found roundtrip fares for about 1000 US. Might have to glance at these and see if it is cheaper. Biggest thing for us is that he comes through JFK.

I was going to do that but couldnt see the point if they stamp expires before ead comes through.

We can because we are marrying 3days after he gets here and sending off the AOS package that next day (all forms are already together that we can put together). Realistically (barring any major issues) he should receive his perm EAD before the temp one expires. Again, this is our hope.

Thats great, good luck with that.

United KingdomOregon-Washington/UK Couples filing or have filed with CSC
QUOTE (BMJ @ May 18 2008, 08:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just thought I would try to set up a chat for any couples (with a UK fiancé) in the Oregon and Washington to share their stories, struggles, ask questions, keep up on how our visas are coming along and any other information you want to share.
I currently live in Vancouver Washington, just north of Portland, and thought it would be nice to get to know if there was anyone else around the area who was also filing.
Maybe we can start by introducing ourselves, how we met our fiancé, and what step you are in with your visas.

My name is Rebecca, I met Mark in '05 while playing EverQuest II. Stopping playing online EQII in April '05 but kept in contact with Mark by msn messenger. In June '06 our friendship became more and in Aug '06 Mark and I met face to face for the first time. One of our biggest concerns would be how my four children would accept him. At the time my girls were 9, 14, and 15, and my youngest, and only boy was 8. The kids took to Mark better than either of us could have ever hoped for and by the time he came again, in October of '06, the youngest two were asking if they could call him papa. We got engaged in October '06, and filed our K1-Visa on Feb '08. We are planning on getting married in Oct of this year and are praying that everything goes through in time.

Sadly, due to trying to save up for the wedding, needing a new car for when he gets here, and all the costs of the immigration process, the last time we got to see each other was Dec '07. We talk on skype every day, but it isnt the same as having him here.

I hope there are others in the area that have gone or are going through the k1-visa process and that we can form a type of support system. This chat can be anything at all you want to say, share your daily struggles, just want to vent, heard a funny story or joke, or ask each other questions regarding the visa process.
Hope to hear from you all soon!
Rebecca

There is a topic for February K1 filers Here you may find this useful, there are a great bunch of people active on this topic.

The pressure is getting to me folks ...

I had a dream last night that I forgot something to take to the interview. I got into the Embassy Ok but couldn't get through into the next area where the interviews were taking place because I didn't have said document. I was thinking "all I need to do is get in there and I'm sorted". It was like one of those dreams where you are running but can't get anywhere and feel helpless.

I didn't think I was THAT stressed out about it ...

United KingdomLetter of intent - and other interview questions
QUOTE (Stan1234 @ Jun 12 2008, 12:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello,

I've got my interview coming up in just under 2 weeks (whoop whoop kicking.gif ) and have been reading through various posts to see if theres anything I might have forgotten. One thing that cropped up a couple of times were issues with the letter of intent. I've read that a couple of people were told that there letters were too old. I think the ones I've got me and my fiancee did at the very start of the process so they're probably dated some time last year! Should I knock off a couple of new ones? And also do these need to be notarised? The originals weren't but I've read that some people had theres done? (might of been for a different visa? mines the K1).

Anything else I might have forgotten for the interview? I've got:

-police checks (x2 wacko.gif )
-birth certs (short and long)
-all her stuff, birth cert, tax forms, letter from her bank and employee
-all the gubbins from when we first applied, evidence of a relationship etc
-copies of all the forms
-x2 photos (do i need x3?)

Think thats about it.

Cheers

You may want to take photocopies of original docs such as birth certificates then they will keep the photocopies and not the originals, we did new letter of intents but they didnt ask for them at interview.

United KingdomGood News and Bad
QUOTE (Eli the Barrowboy @ May 30 2008, 03:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey Guys,

So first the good news ... my visa arrived.

Second the bad news ... Mercedes opened the godd*m envelope without reading the DO NOT OPEN, stamped all over it in large print.

Geez, talk about putting a dampener on things.

I used to read about people opening the envelope on here and think, "duh". Partly my fault in that I didn't tell her it was coming and not to open it as the couriers never called or texted to say they'd be here and partly her fault for NOT READING THE GODD*M ENVELOPE.

Anyway, I feel bad as she's in tears and feels really bad and is inconsolable over this.

So, any suggestions on how to rectify this, apart from the obvious of giving my beloved a lobotomy.

R

PS How many foot rubs do you think I'll be able to milk this for?

PPS If you didn't laugh what could you do?

Hiya Eli

I understand it has to go back to the embassy to be resealed, sorry hon.

don't worry about the approval, if Knightsbridge say that in their trained medical opinion you're fine, then the embassy won't argue. I think that is their stock line, cos of course just cos you pass the medical, doesn't mean you get the visa. But I wouldn't worry, so long as they send over your file, and it says 'nowt wrong with her', the visa will be yours soon after.

Thinking of ya, can't imagine how stressed you must have been! xxx Poit

Thanks, but I really dont know where I am now. I called Knightsbridge doctors and asked when my medical will be sent to the embassy she said today or tommorow, I said they are approved then? She said we dont approve them that is up to the embassy. Jeez its like a roller coaster.

Up to the medical the K1 process was so easy, I guess it teaches you not to take anything for granted.

Ill keep you posted with regard to my visa.

Thank you all so much, I cant explain how I feel, it is great to know Ive got a clean bill of health and the level of that scan would of showed anything up.

When my doctor called me he said Sally its clear, I said can you say that again. lol. Youve just given me back 20 years and he laughed.

I am assuming now that the medical centre will now release my medical to the embassy, she can do no more I guess.

I rang Jay at 3am his time, I expect I will get more of a reaction when I speak to him later but I know he will be thrilled.
