United KingdomOfficial HPV Vaccine/New Police Certicate Thread
QUOTE (karvy02 @ Apr 18 2008, 10:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well, my fiance had his interview this morning and since I'm EXTREMELY meticulous with paperwork, I made sure he had absolutely everything that was required. I-134 Affidavits of Support with heaping amounts of evidence, passport photos, a copy of the NOA2 and I-129F, and of course, his police certificate.

The good news is that my fiance was approved for his visa, but the bad news is that we're being delayed because there's a new police certificate form being used in obtaining visas to the US, NZ, and Australia. I didn't know about this NEW certificate, but apparently the US Embassy is ONLY ACCEPTING the new police certification starting THIS WEEK. We were never notified in our packets regarding this new regulation or certificate and were unaware of this.

So my fiance was given a blue courier slip saying "Approved pending missing document" and he needs to go through another layer of paperwork and of course, more fees, before we can send back the passport and get the visa. It's extremely infuriating, especially because we were given no official notice of this new regulation.

The new police certificate form for UK filers can be found here:
http://www.acpo.poli...ertificates.asp

Still fuming... ranting33va.gif mad.gif

Congrats on the Visa approval, I understand how you feel, I read a posting saying that the old version of police report was ok till August, but I decided to get the ACPO one in case, im glad i have now. From what I understand it takes about 10 Days to arrive.

United KingdomAdvance Parole Question...

Thanks! That's all you put? and it was accepted? What about the dates, can they be estimates 'cause as I said, come filing time I won't even know whether I can go yet and certainly won't know the dates, I just want it just in case.

I just dug out the form that I completed and I actually didnt complete the box about the proposed travel I left it blank. So I really wouldnt worry too much. I left the date of intended departure blank and put 3 weeks for Expected length of trip.

I hope this helps you.

United KingdomAdvance Parole Question...

Hi,

When applying for adjustment of status, I have noticed that pretty much everyone concurrently files for EAD and AP. I would like to have advance parole so that I can keep with tradition and spend Christmas with the family and new wife in England. It would also be nice to have AP in case of an emergency in the UK. However, surely these aren't valid enough reasons or circumstances that warrant issuance of advance parole? The form also asks for dates of trip out of the US which of course at the time of filing I wouldn't know. What did those who were approved for AP state as their reasons for getting it? What could I write that would allow me AP?

Thank you very much. I think this is what I am most confused about right now with AoS.

Hi Dan & Aylin

From what I remember I just put to travel home. Most people apply for it as it is included in the cost.

Good luck

the thing that boggles my mind with that is when the door JUST clears the toilet, so you have to flatten yourself against the wall of the stall to open or close it, but there's another six feet of room from the stalls to the basins blink.gif
it's like that at my workplace... I just don't get why they couldn't have moved things forward even a foot wacko.gif

US toilets ARE nice, but they use far too much water... even without the 'save-water-we're-having-a-six-year-drought' sensibilities carved into me from living in Australia, that's just not good... I wish there was better use of grey water, too (US, UK, Aus, I'm not distinguishing with that one) - the fact that we flush our toilets with water cleaner than half the world's population has to drink never ceases to make me extremely uncomfortable unsure.gif

If you go to a large store like Sears you can buy electric kettles, not as quick as the uk becuase of the power supply but still better than boiling water on the stove.

I forgot who keeps the list of the approvals, but you can add me and Nicky.McMillan to the list! Apparently the only question they asked him was how we met. He waited an hour and a half just for that!

Anyways, there is one hitch...I had to give him a letter stating that we still intended to marry when I was in the UK last week. Apparently, they wanted this notarized as well. I don't recall seeing that needing to be done anywhere on here before...is this something new that the embassy is doing? (It's not a big deal, I'm just printing it off again and express mailing it...and I happen to work at a company that has a large legal department with several notaries that will do it for free).

United KingdomInterview Question
QUOTE (Roselinda @ May 15 2008, 10:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi.

Sorry to be a pest but I now have my interview date scheduled for June 10th.

The thing is that although we placed my daughter on our initial application as it stated to name all children under 21 years of age, she will not, all things going well of course, be going over with me and my son.

On the packet 3 forms, I put her name on them but also stated in whichever question it was, that she would not be following at a later date.

She's almost 18 and has decided to just come over and visit on the VWP whenever she can, due to work and college committments.

My problem now is that her name is still on my Packet 4 document.

She did not have a medical with us, so my question is, do I merely just not bring her with me to the interview and inform them that she will not be joining us, or should I contact the Embassy prior and inform them? unsure.gif

Any help as always appreciated.

thanks!

Im not sure of the offical answer but if it was me I think i would advise the embassy prior to the interview.

that's exactly what we did.. gave up JFK and went for Continental. got his flight for $580 .. but I think he's only allowed 1 checked bag! but it's only $25 for a second!

I am looking at flights end of june, ba £446 baggage allowance 70lb, I dropped the jfk thing too, not worth the extra money and hey ho the time to adjust will be great before working again.

Darren's probably leaving at the end of June too!!! And he's finding that airfares are becoming prohibitively expensive...

I'v been reading up on the EAD stamp for K-1's, and finding out that it's not really necessary. I'm calling up my local office to get the scoop on that, but that would make things so much easier if he could fly directly into Orlando!!!

Yep dawn it would, just a heads up, in september jay came here and then I decided to go back with him for a month, i booked my flight 2 days before and got a return ticket on ba for £300. if you can do it like that its a big saving.

I flew (return) Gatwick to Atlanta direct with BA in September and it cost me £300 yes.gif

That was with STA Travel, Ebookers have always saved me quite a bit considering the prices that the airlines charge direct from their websites - scandalous! I haven't allowed myself to look into my final flight yet, who knows if it will even be this year! (ha I'm having an impatient day smile.gif )

I will fly ba if possible on my flight, because I think their luggage allowance is pretty good too.

We've used all sorts of different search sites (Travelocity, Opodo, etc) to find which airlines have what flights scheduled from Heathrow/Gatwick to NYC and for how much... but have never failed to get the cheapest rate by then booking directly through the airline website itself.

We've recently used BA, Continental and American. Never managed to get a Virgin flight.
He's of course happy when BA comes in the cheapest. wink.gif

Well that post i did earlier was for the same BA flight but £100 cheaper if booked though travelocity!!
