US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Interview date given before medical interview
QUOTE (tea lady @ May 8 2008, 09:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi fellow K1ers,

My Visa interview date has just come through but it has been given to me on the same day as my medical interview. Now ordinarily I would change the medical interview date but I am out of the country until 2 days before the interview date given. Can you go to the Visa interview without a medical interview or do you have to have the medical results before the interview day?

Thanks for your speedy help with this!

Tea lady wacko.gif

I have heard people having the medical the same day as the interview, the embassy will then just approve subject to medical results.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMy experience changing interview date
QUOTE (phub11 @ May 9 2008, 04:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

Just to let people know that it is possible to change your visa interview date - and how I went about it.

I called the Embassy hot line and asked for an e-mail code. You put this in the "Subject" section of the e-mail (this code changes every week - so you'll need to call).

I sent an e-mail (with the current code) to londonconsular@state.gov explaining my situation, and why I would be grateful if they could bring the interview date forward.

Got an e-mail back in about 4 days, with the interview being moved from June 11th to May 21st. Sweet!

If you have a valid reason for a date change, the London embassy seems very helpful.

Thanks to people who suggested I try to change the interview date.

Thats great, thanks for posting.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Question
QUOTE (LynnandAhmed @ May 9 2008, 10:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Finally I get to ask a question.........

I had an email from my congress woman today, a month after she inquired on the statis
of Ahmed's visa.
She said the Embassy said the AP is finished and that the visa should be issued within
10 working days.
unsure.gif

So with the Cairo Embassy, does that mean it will be printed that day but not mailed that day?
I can't remember if some people on here had to wait another 2 to 3 weeks after it was issued
before it was mailed through DHL?

I want to be excited but am wary still..............don't want to expect too much yet.
If it's all true, then finally after 16 or more weeks, Ahmed will have his visa.

Should I get excited now? unsure.gif

I sooooooo hope for you, it sounds good to me but Im not knowledgeable about that embassy.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionForms to send to London with Packet 3
QUOTE (Martin&amp;Nat @ May 18 2008, 01:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
<br />Hi everyone<br /><br />I received packet 3 from London and am filling in the checklist, but I am a little confused. In bold, on page one it states, 'So please, do not send any documents with these forms'.<br /><br />However, under step one where it lists forms DS-230 Part 1, DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157, it states, 'Please complete and return the following forms to us straight away. Failure to do so will delay the processing of your application'.<br /><br />OK, so what do I do? Do I fill in and return those forms as stated under Step One, or do I keep hold of them and take them to the interview with me as stated as the top of the letter?!?<br /><br />Thanks!<br /><br />-Martin<br />
<br /><br /><br />
Hi Martin and Nat

Here is what to do, return those forms once completed to the embassy.

When you have all the items checked on the checklist send that back.

Hope that helps

My fiance in Belarus is under the impression that she must bring her chest X-Ray from the medical exam to the U.S. The doctor told her to take the sealed envelope to the interview in Warsaw, but to bring the X-Ray to the U.S. Does anyone know what purpose this would serve, or whether she can leave it in Belarus?

As far as I understand we have to carry our xrays and submit them at poe. If someone knows better please respond.

I am interested what the medical exam is looking for. Is it some potential disease issue, or general heath. I am overweight unfit and a smoker - Do I need to go on a crash fitness program in time for the examination - Or can I take a more measured approach to extending my life expectancy?

The medical is looking for primarily looking for TB, Aids, which involves blood tests and chest xrays.

I wouldnt advise it, no one can be that sure that they will pass the interview. But, if you want to risk it you can book it.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAdministrative Processing & Security Checks
QUOTE (BadDogi @ Jul 10 2008, 01:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello,

My fiancé had her interview at the Embassy of the United States in London on May 26, 2008 for her K1 Visa, and was told that it takes up to 4 weeks for the actual K1 Visa to be issued. I hear many cases were the Visa is issued at the same time during the interview.. It has been 8 long weeks… We were told K1 needs "Additional administrative processing" and we are unable to get a status on it except "pending". They did not require any additional documents and we are told they have all what they need and waiting on security checks. We had to cancel our wedding of July 5, 2008, it was a difficult thing to do, financially and emotionally.

Any advise?? Here is our time line:

K1 Timeline - US Petitioner, UK Beneficiary
Nov 27, 2007: I-129F application Submission to USINS Laguna Niguel CA
March 27, 2008: Notice of Approval (120 Days from I-129F Submission)
April 2, 2008: Notice from Embassy-Start of process
April 8, 2008: Documents submitted to Embassy
May 27, 2008: Interview at Embassy of the United States London (182 Days from I-129F Submission, 60 days from I-129F Notice of Approval)

Still waiting for Visa.

Thanks!

Im sorry you are stuck in Admin Processing, have you phoned the embassy to find out how much longer it will be.

The interviewees at London that recieve their visas quickly are approved on the day of the interview.

Good luck

Well, packet 3 was received quite quickly after the NOA2! The forms have all been filled in and sent off (These forms are a pain in the ###!!! It almost seems as if they are trying to catch you out or something?), the medical is next week and now we are just waiting for the interview date in London. Does anybody know how long this is going to take? Our case has been expedited, due to a mistake which was not our fault.

Mine was about 6 weeks after sending packet 3 back, but you may be lucky and get one sooner.

Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRed Flag or not?
QUOTE (MARM @ Dec 9 2008, 04:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
A friend of mine has an interview at the London embassy for K-1 in a few days.
As part of the evidence she has prepared, she has included some postal mail (greeting cards) from her fiance.
Some of the greeting cards are printed as "To My Wife..." "For My Wife"...
Of course, they are not married, as she is applying for K-1 visa, but there was nothing wrong in sending cards that depicted such greetings according to their point of view.
When asked for a second opinion by her, I thought to first consult with the VJ community.
Will cards such as those I mention above be possible "red flags" at the London embassy? They are not married, are only engaged, but have just sent greeting cards with such wording. Will this be an issue?
Is it better not to include them?

Thanks!
-MARM

I definately would not show them, it will cause them to doubt whether they are already married, the London embassy is easy but this would be silly to put the element of doubt in the consulates mind.

QUOTE (soon~tobe @ Feb 9 2009, 05:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Okay time for more questions. :-)

1. How long has it been taking for Dr. Asagos office to get results back?
2. When does the interview fee need to be paid.
3. I am confused about the fees and I just want to make sure I have this right. The 131.00 for the interview is paid to BOA and NOT the consulate? But the medical is paid directly to the Dr. office correct.

I am trying to figure out a time line so Allan only has to go to Nairobi once. I was thinking if he left on a Tuesday, we could schedule the medical for Wednesday. Do you think the results would be done so we can schedule the interview for the very next Monday. Then hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday he could have visa and hand and be headed back to Uganda? Does this sound plausible? I am worried about all the expenses of a hotel for that long or 2 trips back and forth by bus from Kampala.

Shefeel if you are still around I may have to hire you to be Allan's tour guide :-) lol. He says he will be fine but I am worried about him as he has never been out of Uganda.

1. The results are ready between 4 - 5 working days , i think it depends on the work load but that is the average time.
2. Anytime at the Commercial Bank of Africa - its valid for one year.
3. The interview fee has to be paid at the Commercial Bank of Africa ( any of its branches) and Asuga's fee cash at the reception baby

I suggest you schedule the interview as soon as you get the results coz i rememebr when i called to schedule the interview , they wanted to sxchedule me the very next day or alternatiely call and try to suggest a date with the ladies at the consular .

Soon I am at work , so i may not be the best tour guide but can be of help with info.

Thanks for the prayers, we have been praying so much this week. I wrote my congressman yesterday, I haven't heard back but hopefully I will. I wrote my one from WA (the address on my petition, and state of Residance). My pastor yesterday offered for write the KY (the state a I am living in for 1 year for work) for me as he is a close friend of his. So maybe between the two of them something will get done.

I did call this morning and still not there, I am going to try to not call again till next Monday. My fiance did go pick up his police record today and got MMR immunization. I have all the documents I need to send him together and will sending it FedEx tomorrow, that way we should be ready as soon as the petition is in Nairobi. We are still really hopeful for an April 25th wedding, we want to get married on that day for a lot of sentimental reasons...but will see, I will be more hopeful when the petition shows up. I know lots of people are praying and now it is in God's hands

We are holding and fasting in Jesus name. OOh April 25 is my birth day whistling.gif good.gif We were to have our wedding then but my fiance settle for April 18, a week before my birthday so that we can always separate this two events. Soon to be God's is in control and He watches from above.

I forgot to add this

When going for the medical as soon as you get to the doctor, i observed that these 3 doctors work together - they share the Lab and its always jammed with people. I booked an appointment with Dr. Asuga but was seen by Dr. Dogra. If you dont keep on following up with the girls at the reception then you can waste an entire day there ( sometimes they call out the names of those who have left to have the x -rays done). As soon as you give your stool and urine sample , you can ask them to allow you to go for the Chest Xray before you sit on the benches to wait for one nurse to examine you ( physically). Check the papers you get either in your mail box or at the embassy, the first set were incomplete and i had to ask someone at the docs place to go and make a copy before they filled it up.

Another thing eat something! early enough, the doc comes only in the afternoon so the earlier you start the better. Carry water to drink , if need be as water is hard to come by.

Soon to be - immunizations for men is relatively cheaper compared to women . the HPV for women makes the price shoot up. I hate to think of how much i spent on it. Thats the first phase of it but they suggested that i could do it int he US for the two phases left. So if it cheaper in Uganda then its better to have it there.

For the medicals the more organized you are the earlier you leave that place. It took me 4 hrs to do everything.

Vaccination men is Kshs. 18,700
Women Kshs. 23,600

I am still here, finding it harder to check here, it is just easier to be numb right now. My packet is still missing. CSC says they sent it and NVC says they don't have it, we are now past 6 weeks of it missing. I am sending a letter to my congressman tomorrow. I don't think they can do anything before 90days, but I want to include my NOA2 which says I can start calling the NVC after four weeks, and now it is well past four weeks. I a have a twinge of hope that maybe if my congress man looks into it they will at least track it and see where they really sent it.
I am praying lots and hoping it shows up.

I am fiance is going to get his MMR shot in Uganda and take the immunization record with him, hopefully that will save us a little bit of money on the med exam. I am also going to try to call the consulate tomorrow and beg them to give us our medical paper work now, so he can go over next week to do the medical that way when the petition finally shows up we can schedule the interview as soon as a date is available.

Shefell, keep us update on if those financial papers are enough, I don't have my tax records but I do have several old pay stubs, notarized affidavit of support and employer letter, so I think it should be okay. It is about the same evidence you have.

I was planning on going to the interview with my SO and I really really wanted to, my heart missed Africa so much, but i just don't think I can afford it. Everyone's reports lately seem positive so I think I will just let him go alone.

Good luck everyone!!!

Im hoping you get help from your congressman soon and your file goes to NVC. For the medical your fiance will need the NVC case number for them to allow him to proceed with the medicals, Im not sure how long it takes for the medicals to expire. Good luck and all the best.

Hi all, It has taken me so long to respond as i was juggling work and processing the papers.

I got my packet in my mail box and proceeded to contact the embassy and the doctors ( Dr. Dogra) for a medical appointement. My medical appointment was on the 21 of january. Had stool, urine, blood and physical checks. This costs me Kshs. 8700 and 1000 shilling , which you pay separately for the chest xray at an appointed centre. The girls at the reception are friendly and are willing to help. It took me 4 hours to complete my tests on that day.

I was given an appointment today for the vaccinations , there are 4 vaccinations for women the MMR Combinatiion ( 3) and HPV . The cervical cancer vaccination ( HPV) is expensive - It costs something like Kshs- 11,600.The total bill (for women) comes to Kshs.21,300. They informed me that i had passed the medical kicking.gif and can go ahead with my interview. The place gets busy during the day so its better to be there early.

I called the embassy for an appointment and was asked when i would like them to schedule the interview. I proposed Feb 10 as i would be ready by then with all that is needed.
