PhilippinesBringing a baby/minor immediately with you in the US
hi! well, we are in the same boat but i am already finished with my journey as far as paperwork, medical and interview is concerned. anyway, my husband is also a USC and he filed a separate petition for me (IR-1) and my 4yr old son (IR-2) who is not his own. FYI: just like you, I was a single mom when I met my now husband. And since the relationship I had with son's bilogical father didn't went well when I was already pregnant, I decided to let my child have my family name. So in his birth certificate, the part wherein info about the father is asked, it is already blanked or UNKNOWN. Since you did the same thing, you will no longer need to secure a consent from your daughter's biological father in order for her to travel with you to the US or anywhere else in the world. All that your husband needs to submit to USCIS is your daughter's birth certificate from NSO.

QUOTE (CC JC Forever @ Dec 18 2009, 06:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello guys,

I hope you can help me with my concerns....
I am married to a US citizen and we are currently processing our papers. He has filed for an I-130 already, have received NOA1 and waiting for our approval from USCIS.
My husband wants to petition my 7mo. old daughter as well (not his biological daughter, we'll bring her a few years from now) and thought that he had included her in the petition.

Here are my questions:
1. Should my husband file a separate I-130 form for my daughter?
YES! like in my case, my husband filed a separate petition for me (IR-1) and my son (IR-2).

2. What are the requirements?
for your daughter, only her birth certificate from NSO

3. One of the VJ members answered my other post (in a diff section of this forum), that "You have a potentially big problem. You cannot get a visa for your daughter unless you get her biological father's notarized permission to let her immigrate to the US."---- Is this still needed considering my situation (story below)?!?

NO! You will not have a big problem on your daughter's paperwork because I did not encounter any with my son's petition; not letting your daughter use his biological father's surname was a blessing in disguise because you will no longer need to secure a consent/permit to travel from your daughter's biological father which is usually released by DSWD. I can say, Take it from me because we are in the same boat. I mean, I was also a single mom when I met my husband (now). And just like you, I did not let my son use his biological father's surname leaving the "father" in that part of the daughter's birth certificate UNKNOWN.

Well, you can always pm me if ever you want to ask something. My son and I are already finished with our journey as far as our paperwork is concerned. We will be leaving for US by March or earlier. Gob bless!

Here's a little background of my life before my hubby:
I was a single mom before and was never married with the man in my previous relationship but had a daughter with him. When my daughter was born, I did not acknowledge my daughter's biological father. He ABANDONED us prior my (our) daughter's birth, so I decided not to use his surname nor put his name in her birth certificate.

I have no problems answering questions about the biological father IF it's going to be asked in the interview. My concern is that, why do I need the biological father's consent if he did not care about us in the first place??!

Please help me...Thanks in advance...

Hello everyone..Im in US now with my fiance..At the moment we are still in LA but soon to leave for WI...I arrived last night and the PAL flight PR 102 was really nice in terms of food, accomodation, entertainment..The plane has individual tv screen where u can watch movies, play games or listen to music of your choice..wow..food was delicious....my first time to have great amenities on the plane.....

I have bad news and good news though...
Good news is im here now..bad news is my uncle who fetched me at MNL airport and drove me all the way to QC to get my CFO sticker and back to MNL airport in the evening, died yesterday.. Its a shocking news...He was so alive to me..We had great bonding together. Before he left me at the airport he told me to call him up as soon as I arrive LAX..I was so excited and called my parents first and only to find out that my uncle, a priest died just few hours after we saw each other at the airport..i didnt know it was his last day/moment with me...this is really so unbelievable...up to this very moment, its hard to sink in the bad news..Uncle wherever u are now--I LOVE YOU and THANK YOU SO MUCH for being there for me despite the bz church schedule u had yesterday..I enjoyed every moment spent with u esp. when we lost our way to CFO..it was fun while we kept on looking for that place..be aware uncle that I was excited to inform u that Im here with Lane but u already left us. May your good soul rest in peace...Ill always keep the Rosary u gave me and remember God loves you for serving Him well.

My fellow VJ'rs I really have mixed emotions now...Im happy and sad...I cant describe what I feel...Like how could I celebrate Christmas in festive mood when u know someone special in the family passed away recently...and also unbelievable coz we were together just hours ago before I left???
But since I'm already with my handsome and kind fiance who condoled while i was in tears yesterday, Ill try to be happy..I know my uncle is happy for me eventhough he wont be around anymore this Christmas and New Year... I offer this post for you..U also became a part of my journey...

Ill keep in touch with you guys when Ive some questions regarding AOS....I hope u remain helpful to us...

Thank you

daisy

PhilippinesBoracay
Hi! my husband and I together with my son went to Boracay last summer (May 01-May05); since it's summer, it's peak season so the rate is much higher. Anyway, it was my husband who research from our flight down to our accommodation. We flew from MNL to Caticlan (which is closer to the port where people going to Boracay will take the ferry boat) via PAL Express; then we stayed at Le Soleil de Boracay which is located at Station 2 which is the best among the three (3) stations in Boracay because it is the center of day and night life in the island. Le Soleil de Boracay is located beach-front; the rooms are nice and tidy and janitorial staff/s of the hotel clean the room everyday; food are also delicious, can't complain about that. So that's it! I hope I was able to be help to you through the info I shared.

So for the people that have been to boracay, what hotel do you recommend? I was looking at Bamboo resort.....9 days 8 nights for like 19,000 pesos. this was just a quote i got a couple weeks ago. Just trying to get an idea of where it is good to stay. It will be our real honeymoon, so I dont mind paying a little more. Of course we will be going during high season...I am trying to get there so we can go there over Valentine's day. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated. Thanks

PhilippinesVISA Delivery
hello! usually it takes 5-7days before they deliver your visa but still it depends on the embassy if they will put your visa on hold for further review. I got mine exactly 5days after my interview while I received my son's visa 2 days after his interview. goodluck!

My visa was approved last Monday, January 11 but until now I haven't received my packet. I called Air21 just now and I was told that they don't have my visa yet. How long does it usually take to print and deliver the visa? I read some post here that they got their visas in 2 days. I paid 200 something pesos in Air21 before i left the embassy. Btw, I live near Manila so i think delivery would not be a problem. Thanks! =)

PhilippinesWHITE SLIP AFTER THE INTERVIEW
hi! im sorry to hear that the interview of your daughter didnt went well. My 4 yr old son had his interview yesterday and he was approved. Before the interview formally started, the CO asked me if he will do the interview in english or in tagalog and i told him, Tagalog Sir. Most of the questions were answered by my son since the questions are just basic questions about my son, me and my american husband. The pinay screener only asked for pictures of me, my son and my hubby. So as to your question if you will file another petition for you daughter. don't because she wasnt denied yet, the decision is still on hold. And yes, the process is faster if the petition is filed by your US citizen husband just like what my husband did. So just let your mom provide the needed documents by the embassy and your daughter will be fine. Regarding the CENOMAR, the NSO will release it in 1 week's time then they will send it to USEM. As with my son's case, he is using my maiden name since birth and was never acknowledge by his biological father so hin his live birth certificate from NSO, no father was registered so his papers were "clean." Kindly tell also your mom to request for your daughter's OTR from her school because some schools release it after 3 weeks or 1 month (well, this is in college level anyway); the baptismal certificate can be requested and claimed right away from the church where your daughter was baptized... I guess you did not inform your mom what documents to bring on the day of your daughter's interview; that's why she was asked to return.

QUOTE (miamortueres @ Dec 4 2009, 06:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My daughter had her interview last Monday (Dec.1). She is 7 yrs old accompanied by my Mom since I can't because of my job and my schooling here in TX. My mother told me that the interview went well but what happened is they gave the passport back to my Mom, gave her a white slip indicates to wait until she hear from USEM. Also, they made her go to the NSO Pasay to get a CENOMAR to prove i wasn't married to my daughter's biological father. They gave her a form to be attached on the application of CENOMAR and people from NSO told her they are going to give the CENOMAR directly to USEM so she dont need to come back and pick it up. USEM also told her to bring all her school transcripts because my Mom just brought only the latest one and also her baptismal certificate. My Mom told them that our house got flooded and some of our documents got ripped. But they said that we can still get those records from the school and the church where my daughter got baptized. I'm worried of how long it will take. I'm planning to be there in the PH by March to get my daughter so we can fly together going to US. does anybody know how long the NSO will process my CENOMAR and bring that thing to USEM? I'm thinking filling another petition again for her. It is my husband now (her step-dad) did the petition for I know it would be a lot faster since I'm not a citizen yet. Things are playing on my mind right now.....I miss my daughter soooo much and I want to be with her soon. I'm praying that they won't deny her after submitting all the documents they asked for.

PhilippinesNO CLUE WHATS GOING ON!
sorry to hear about your story.anyway, all i can say is, if that girl is just and ONLY a friend of your husband, she should know where she stands now in your hubby's life. A "girl-friend" should not be visiting her married "boy-friend" 4x a week; i mean, what for?!. she should already know her limits NOT UNLESS something is going on between her and your husband. And besides, if they are JUST FRIENDS, your husband should've told her about you from day one that you started communicating since they can talk about anything and everything under the sun like you said. And vice-versa, your husband should've told you about her too! Based from your story, if its not the girl who visits or picks up your husband from your house; it is your husband who does those things and I guess that is something you should be worried about. I mean, there must be really something fishy going on... Hey, I am not trying to give you bad advice but if I were you, I will be very and more observant in everything that your husband does. Continue checking his phone because answers to your questions might be there BUT dont you ever confront your husband or the girl if you dont have enough and valid evidence BUT do NOT let them FOOL you; do NOT be blinded by gifts or sweet nothings from your husband especially if you notice that your husband is really hiding something from you. BE STRONG my dear...

Need Advice!

Here's the story!

Husband has a girl friend and hid her before i came here. I dont know her, i have no clue that he has a girl friend and close to each other. 2 days after my arrival in the US she introduced her to me, they are neighbors 2 blocks away from where we live (walking distance for me). They are very close, friends for 4 years and they can talk anything and everything under the sun. Husband said shes a friend that he can run to whenever he needed somebody to talk to, however, i wasnt told about her. Couple of weeks later, i read their text msgs and found out that shes calling him "babe" I was so jealous and asked hubby if theres something going on between them. He said nothing and they are only friends and that 2 years ago he asked the girl for a dinner and tried if it'll work beyond friendship but the girl refuses and 2 weeks before i came here the girl proposed to him that she'll leave her boyfriend if my husband would like to be with her. I freaked out when i heard about it and told him not to see her again coz as for me woman will ruin us. I am always in pain, feel so hurt, i always cry a river when it comes to her everytime he hides and that they're seeing each other behind my back. Hubby is always there with her if she needed a ride, doctors appointment and others. I never knew about that and when i learned about it and wanted to know everyday what she's up to and why she wanted my husband to give her a ride, some times i am told some time dont and still the same it'll always been left unsaid, they are still seeing each other without me knowing it. His alibis was if he tells me i freak out and if not i freak out.

Husband didnt tell her about me as we are talking in the internet, she only knew that her friend was engaged 4 months before i came here or i guess the day that my visa was approved. We live with his parents and if times his parents not around she visits, she has no car and lost her license so hubby pick her up to her house all the time, she used to visit the house 4 times a week before but now that im here hubby visits to her house, we always argued about her cant stand their friendship. He replied to her text msg when im not around and even call. I know he doesnt like arguements and so do i, he said there is nothing to be jealous about but why hes hiding it and erased their text messages. He runs to her 2am one time we argued. I dont know what to do about this anymore it drivin me crazy. I feel like i am all alone. i had nobody to talk to except his mom. he doesnt want to hurt bcoz he loves me but why he does things that will make my heartache. I know that its so unfair if i stop him from seeing her, he should understand that I gave up everything. He cant even keep his words. I love him so much more than myself. I am so weak when it comes to him and her. I wanted to go home, they said we need counseling. i dont know what to do..... He ignores my feeling.

Please i need ur advice hudband and wife's opinion.

Philippinesis cr1 visa are we required to attend Manila CFO - Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar?
do you think its okay not to pay yet the 400 if advance seminar? because my son doesnt have his visa yet.

QUOTE (Llyne @ Nov 29 2009, 08:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
1. Yes you must attend the seminar. I am a CR1 too and I had my advance interview last November 26, 2009. My interview will be on December 9, 2009.

2. I had my seminar at:
St. Mary's Integrated Development Foundation. Inc.
Center for Overseas Workers
1043 Aurora Blvd. Cubao,QC.

How to get there:

Fare: 12php

If you are coming from the north, take the bus going to Cubao, then stop at the cubao terminal, I rode Dagupan Liner and stopped at its terminal. Then take the MRT going to Katipunan, exit at the right side, then when you're already outside the station, walk towards the right side, take 10-15 steps (hehe) and you will see the gate of St. Mary's.

Procedure:

1. Register on the logbook (Name and signature) then they will give you a form to answer.

2. Then pay 250php for the seminar.

3. picture taking- the cashier will take a photo of you, using her webcam, so be sure to look nice. (hehe)

4. Proceed to the 2nd floor for the film viewing. Turn right and you will see a big room with sliding doors.
Room is a bit cold but nice..not very cold..hehe..
Ms. Pat is the one who gave us the orientation/briefing. She is very very good, kind and accomodating.
During the seminar, she will give you advices about marriage, on how to be humble and giving in a relationship =)
They will also give you a leaflet about things to bring, prepare on your flight etc. After that, its time for the film
viewing, "Magandang Gabi Bayan by Kabayan Noli de Castro."

5. After that, the counselor will talk about what you have seen, then one on one counselling, they will ask you some questions about your petitioner while checking on the forms that you've signed

a. complete name of petitioner, so be sure to know his middle name
b. petitioner's date of birth
c. date of your first meeting
d. how many times he visited you

6. After that, you will go to the first floor and ask you to photocopy some pages, (forms you signed in), each photocopy costs 3 pesos, but no choice but to do it...hehe...

7. Then go back to the counter again, then they will print out the certificate.

8. Proceed to the CFO, the small building at the back, its on 2nd floor, and you will see a door on the right, just enter and you will see two employees...the first employee her table is located near the door and the other employee a gentleman.

The man will ask for your passport, the 2nd forms that you've filled up and then pay 400 pesos. he will ask you to sign at the bottom of a page of the form. Then he will hand your forms to the other lady in the room. Since, my seminar is advance, I will just go back once I have my visa and get the sticker, which they will put on my passport.

**I arrived at the seminar, 9:30am and finished everything at 12 noon.

From the experience, all the employees are really nice, friendly and efficient.

You will only need:

Maiden Name of the mother of your Fiance/Husband
3 photocopies of your Passport
3 photocopies of your Visa (if available)
and then the fees of 250 pesos
and 400 pesos.

After the interview:if without visa yet. You should have with you the certificates and attendance (colors:blue and green)

WARNING: YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND THE SEMINAR.IT IS MANDATORY.

For me, the seminar was indeed helpful as it tackled different issues faced by filipinas abroad, not only filipinas but people who are new in a certain country and one is culture shock. So the seminar in a way, told us what to expect when arriving in a foreign country.

hello guys! im just worried about my paperwork and my son because we've been waiting for a year now since our petition was filed last August 2008. My IR-1/CR-1 petition was approved on March 11, 2009 while my son's petition was approved on April 21, 2009. And my husband received the AOS Processing Fee Bill Invoice on March 27, 2009 for my petition. From that period of time till May 2009, I received and submitted the Choice of Agent and Address form to NVC; that was the only letter I received from NVC since I appointed my husband in Washington as my agent. Last month he called NVC upon receiving an e-mail from them; they asked us to submit the page 2 of the DS-230 form together with the original copies of our marriage certificate, birth certificates of me and my son likewise our photos. My husband told me he already mailed it within the last week of July. What is next after this? Why is it that when i checked my status with USCIS it says, case received and pending?
Thank you for whatever info you can give me. God bless!

Ronalyn Watson

Your case is now at NVC not USCIS. You need to contact NVC to find out the staus of your case. You can speak to a officer and they will tell you exactly what stage your case is at.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Inquiry
hello guys! i hope all is well to each and everyone. Anyway, I just to want to share that upon calling the NVC this afternoon, I found out that my case was complicated on September 29, 2009 and that I have to wait for 8 weeks for further instruction. But is it possible for me or my husband to call NVC and inquire about interview date/s? I hope you can give some advice and info. THANK YOU in advance!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresis it possible for me to be interviewed earlier?
Thanks for your opinion! I really appreciate it. And yes, I can also delay my medical or interview and just wait for my son's case to be completed with NVC. But I'm thinking, it would also be nice if I will have my medical and interview earlier so it would lessen my burden than my son and i will have our medical and interview at the same... But anyway, my husband will decide about it. Thanks for your reply!

Each case is treated separatly. So yes, you can schedule a medical before your son as long as you have your interview date...but you can also delay that until your son's petition is through NVC. If you haven't paid the AOS or IV bill for you, then why not delay that and let your son's petition catch up?

Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresis it possible for me to be interviewed earlier?
My case was completed on September 29, 2009 while my son's case is still being processed by NVC. The checklist we received through e-mail said, my husband needs to submit the AOS then IV fee payment. My question is that, is it possible for me to get a medical and interview schedule while my son's case is being processed?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCivil Ceremonies/Court Marriages/Pictures
how come you did not take any photo during your wedding? just because it was a civil ceremony is not a valid reason for you not to take photos because it is a very strong evidence your marriage. as with me and husband, our wedding was also a civil one but we have photos... i dont think it is easy to fake wedding pictures because if you do, there will always be a way for people. anyway, during my interview, i brought a copy of my husband's boarding pass from his 2 visits here in P.I., phonebills, courier recepits, photos from our vacations and cards, emails and chat logs... so try to gather all the evidence that will prove your marriage or relationship. Goodluck!

QUOTE (scrabble @ Dec 1 2009, 03:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We don't have photographs of our marriage ceremony, as it was a civil ceremony at a foreign courthouse, performed in what would be the equivalent of a judge's chambers in the USA. We were both nervous, there was a language barrier, all of our family and friends lived in different countries, and so we did what lots of even American couples do, and have a civil ceremony. We didn't dress up or take pictures. We did have a honeymoon. We plan to have a "real" "duplicate" wedding in the U.S., with friends and family. I keep reading that a lack of "wedding pictures" will hurt our visa chances. That doesn't make sense to me, as "wedding pictures" can be faked, but phone bills and letters (with postmarks) and dated emails and other evidence cannot be faked. Sorry if I sound upset, just scared after reading other posts!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespolice certificate and police clearance
Hello! yeah! I just lived here in the Philippines all my life its just that I spent some years elsewhere but not outside the country. Thanks for the info! I already have an NBI and its already with NVC.

Ronalyn

QUOTE (marriedtomrg @ Sep 3 2009, 03:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi ronalyn.

If you have lived in the Philippines all your life, you just need the NBI clearance for Immigration purposes (not Travel Abroad). No need to secure police clearances from every city you have lived.

If you lived in any other country outside of the Philippines for 6 months or more, then you would need to secure a police clearance/certificate from that country.

hello guys! i just want to ask if police certificate is one and the same with police clearance. do i really have to provide one from all the places i lived since reaching the age of 16? HELP!!!

Yes, you have to. Police Certificate/Clearance is the same though in some countries it is called something else like in Dubai, UAE they call it Good Moral Conduct.

No, you don't have to, only the NBI is required. Police clearance is required if you lived outside of the philippines for at least 6 months, and it's for every country you lived in for at least 6 months, not every city.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLife after NOA-2
im so sorry to hear that.... how come your co-sponsor changed his mind? I mean, why now when you are already about to start your journey with NVC? anyway, that might be too personal. i think the best thing for you to do is call NVC and tell them about your concern. I think they can provide you solution to your problem. Give them a call now!
