K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI called NVC !! and got a bad news

I got my approval on June 12, 2013, 2 days after yours. I am not going to call them as I believe its too early to do so! I searched through VJ about the processing time between approval and NVC, it says 1 months or so. But Thank you for your update, it was my guess that our answer will be in the mid of july.

Thanks again.

same here I got my approval on june 12,2013. I am still waiting my case number from the NVC. Some of you mentioned, the petitioner (I am the beneficiary) will fill I-134. the USCIS says don't use this form I-134 if the alien you are sponsoring (me) is required to have form I-864.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of engagement

Evidence of engagement, that is what worries me most. I got my approval on june 12, 2013. Now I started to worry about the evidence of engagement, I have friends who failed to satisfy the consulate officer and then denied to obtain the Visa. Its the most difficult part in the process. Good luck.

My case is in NVC and I have also been worrying about that matter, my fiancee makes $13.5 thousand a year, which I think is not enough. On the other hand I have one of my relatives in the US who makes more than $50.000.00 and owns a big house. He said I can help you and grant you affidavit of support. I want to hear from you about someone other than your Fiancee granting you an affidavit of support???/

Yeah, it means you must write your name in arabic alphabets! Because Maqrib uses arabic language, so you should write your name both in English and in Arabic.

Thanks for your reply. Better late than never :)

I applied for my cert as well, although my I-130 has not been approved (or is probably no where close to being approved) yet! Call it a step of faith :D

Asia: East and PacificMalaysia Police Certificate

Does anyone know how long the certificate is valid for? I know it takes about 2 months to produce. I emailed the KLN and was told that it depends on the US embassy. So does anyone know? We just put in our I-130 last month but want to begin preparing all the required documents early so we're not so rushed later. Would it be safe to apply for the certificate of good conduct now?

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJust want to vent a little... I am so sad... this hurts so much.

I so understand how you feel. It truly sucks and I can relate to the 'dying of envy' part when you see other couples! I've become sort of a recluse myself, opting to stay home rather than go out and socialize. My husband over in the US is the same! It doesnt help that we have a 13 hour difference between us, which makes talking on the phone or Skyping (other than the weekend) almost impossible! I wish I could reach through cyberspace and give you a big hug! But hang in there is all I can say. And pray, trusting that God will make this entire process swift and smooth!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWait times for interview at Kuala Lumpur consulate

Once you get case complete at NVC its usually a 1 to 2 month wait for Interview being scheduled for you.

Thanks dwheels76 :)

Sucks to be in this never-ending wait cycle though :(

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWait times for interview at Kuala Lumpur consulate

I'm just wondering if anyone here knows the wait time before an interview is scheduled at the Kuala Lumpur consulate in Malaysia. I've seen some people post links to interview schedules but mostly for India. Not that I'm anywhere near close to getting interviewed (since I don't even have a case number yet) but I guess I just want a guestimate of when I'd be able to join my husband. I was approved on 6th March 2014.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2014

Ok, so for some reason I can't quote any posts. So here's an update. Finally got through to NVC, and I had the joy of speaking to JOY!! Cranky again. Anyways she said it was a reminder to send in the DS-260 supporting docs....I ALREADY RECEIVED A REMINDER...when they reviewed the DS-260. When I asked her about the checklist and how come it didn't have requiring the passport photos, she said that they DO NOT require the passport photos to be sent to them anymore. #######. Sorry guys and gals, but I am getting very PO'd at having to talk to rude blunt people and being fed a different story every time I call. This is just absolutely ridiculous.

Our lawyer told us they didn't need the passport photos at the NVC either. I think they ask for it at the interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2014

I think it depends on the Insurance and/or the employer.  My company is self insured, and Blue Cross Blue Shield administers the plan.  They wouldn't let me add my wife during last years open enrollment period, because she couldn't show six months residency in the US.

My husband's coverage is from Optima under his employer... I guess we'll never know until he calls them to clarify :) But thanks for the input!

Joanna, he can add you to his insurance.....my husband did that last year!

Thanks Marcela! I'm gonna get him to call them and arrange that! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2014

I am actually going through this process right now. The school district I work at is switching over to state health insurance starting July 1st, so I can add my husband now and when he comes he will be covered. I was just worried because I don't have a social security number yet to add him. But they told me to just put NRA the way I have on my taxes because they also need a copy of the front of my taxes to prove we are married and that way it will match.

Your husband just needs to find out when is open enrollment to add you and what documents he needs to prove you are married. I didn't add my hubby when we got married because then I would be paying insurance for someone who wasn't even in the country. I know our open enrollment is in October to start being covered the following January.

May you have many happy and healthy babies! :)

Thanks LifeOnHold

I will get him to check on the open enrollment asap! Oh no... not MANY... just TWO happy healthy babies will do! Hahaha  :joy:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2014

It's all very dependent upon the insurer, the only way to know for your individual case will be to have him call and ask. Most likely you will be subject to an "open enrollment" period, which is a window during every year when people are allowed to sign up for or change their health coverage. My insurance is through my employer and our open enrollment period is in February, so I had to add my husband to my policy then. It wasn't a problem for me to add him without having a SSN. Your immigration may also qualify as a life event that would make you eligible for a special enrollment period. For instance after a marriage insurers will give, say, 90 days to add the new spouse to an existing plan, then the window closes until next open enrollment. I'm not sure if immigration will fall under this life event category but it's worth asking.

Basically there are weird rules about when you're able to start coverage here; they're designed to prevent people from simply purchasing insurance when they get sick and dropping it right after, but they may give you a bit of a headache. Your husband should get on the phone with his insurance provider to figure out how it'll work for his plan.

Thank you so much BOS_LHR

I'll get my husband to call and ask! I sure hope they accept the migration as a life event, or we'd have to wait for open enrollment and I have no idea when that would be. My husband is under Optima with his employer :)

My husband added me on his life and health insurance also last February, I live abroad.

Thanks for giving me hope! :)

I remember this was discussed before.

Most insurers will require dependents to be added in these conditions:

1- Life event: birth of child, marriage: within 30 days of the event

2- Open enrolment: usually November of every year for coverage the year after

3- Loss of benefits: if the spouse loses benefits due to job loss

Bottom line, your spouse has to call his insurance and ask, different insurers have different rules.

I added my wife in November and I'm paying for her benefits knowing she will not be here until July!!! but it is well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you etrangais

I certainly hope migration is considered a life event! Or that his open enrollment period is soon! I told my husband the same thing, it well worth paying for the benefits in advance so that coverage is immediate when the spouse arrives!

Makes perfect sense to me and not a stupid question at all.  I don't see why he can't add you now but then I am only assuming.  Best of luck hope he can add you now. :) (F) (F)

Thanks Soloenta! Many people say he can add me, just that there are certain time periods that they open for registration :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2014

Okay so here's a pretty weird, random and bordering-on-stupid question. Do you think I could be added to my husband's insurance now even before I'm in the USA? Here's the reason. We really wanna get pregnant as soon as I get there and we're hoping to get a head start on any waiting periods the insurance has before they cover maternity. It's usually a 6 to 9 month wait before the insurance kicks in, so if he adds me in now in May and I get there in August or September, we save about 4-5 months and then have to wait less time before actually getting pregnant. Does that make sense? Anyone?

Hi all,
I received my NOA 2 on 3/27/14 and it left NBC on 3/31/14. I'm waiting for my NVC case # and feeling so impatient! I just want to see my honey already! Thanks for the support group. Although I haven't posted before, I've been keeping up with this forum. Awesome group. I hope you all get great news soon!!

Welcome to the family Dorii! It's gonna take you about a month so hang in there. In the meantime, you can continue keeping up with everyone here. I promise you each one of us is going through very similar struggles and are truly a support for one another. It's going to be better than USCIS for sure...

Joanna, did your husband asked the paralegal to make the payment?

The paralegal is on leave and will only be back on Wednesday. So will get him to call in the morning. Gosh it's confusing with all the time difference! It's Wednesday morning here as I write this...
