Colleens-Thanks for updating your information on the list..

Hope you are feeling better...Don't worry, the morning/all-day sickness will be better soon...

Sorry that you are having trouble finding health insurance. As for finding other healthcare alternatives, you can try looking at local community health clinics, that offer free and/or lower "sliding scale" payment services (such as paying at a lower cost, or in installments, or not at all), based on your financial situation. As well, you can try looking into other programs (some government based, some non-government based) that also offer health insurance too. For example, here in New York State, they have a state-wide health insurance program called "Family Health Plus" and "Child Health Plus", which is different from medicaid and are for people that have higher incomes than medicaid guidelines but have lower incomes that cannot afford private expensive health insurance. These programs are not means-tested benefits too, and that if they have this program or other similar programs in your state that you can apply for that as well.

Regardless, I hope you do find good healthcare for you and your baby, as that's very important for everyone to have indeed!

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey, and good luck with your healthcare situation too.

Ant

Thanks Ant, I think the Tencare is something similar to what you are talking about. I spoke to an insurance broker this morning and he give the info to me and said that his wife came from the Phillipenes and that is what she used when she arrived, but I am not sure how long ago that was and if anything had changed rule wise from that time. I briefly looked at it and it seems to have some income guidelines on it and such. I am also going to call planned parenthood to see if they can point me to any resources. It is not that we can't afford to have the insurance (to some limits!!)..it is just finding it. Regardless, I will still go to the Dr even if I have to pay out of pocket, because I know how important pre-natal care is.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?
I have been feeling a bit better the past couple of days, so hopefully it is a sign of better times to come!!

I am getting VERY stressed out about finding health insurance tho, as hubby is only p/t where he works so they will not allow him to have family benefits. I have spoke with a broker and he was not too optimistic in me finding something. He suggested something called Tencare...it is a state run program, but I am not sure whether it would fall under the "means tested benefits" catagory that we are not able to use. I posted something in the Moving and living here forum and got a response from someone who used humana when they were pregnant when they arrived here, but when I called them, they do not provide maternity benefits at all. Blue cross/blue sheild cover maternity, but there is a 10 month waiting period before you can be elegible for it. The only hope is that they would consider me previously insured (since I did have insurance in canada) then the waiting period would not be applicable. *fingers crossed*

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?
I have been having morning sickness 24/7 for the last week and a bit. I have been trying everything that has been suggested to try to help with it to no avail :crying: I keep telling myself that being sick is a good thing to help get thru it. I am just glad that I am not working right now......it makes it a lot easier when you feel like having a nap or just chilling on the couch!! Anyone have anything that seemed to really work for them to combat the queasiness??

Fortunately ALL of my friends in Canada have had babies over the past year...there was one pretty much every other month, so I am pretty up to date on the latest baby issues....on top of being a baby planner extrodinaire  I think baby showers cost me more in the last year than the immigration process!!

I can finally join in on this thread....after 3 positive pregnancy tests and being about 20 days late...I think it is a pretty sure thing. I know that it is early and a lot can happen, but I am not the best at keeping secrets!! I have an appt with the OB/Gyn on Monday and we have decided to go to the courthouse and get married on Thursday so that I can be added to Si's medical insurance.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly filing?

Yep! So if you get your GC approved after December 2014 (in almost a year) then you'd get a 10-year card.  You'll probably get approved before then though, and get a 2-year card, and need to ROC sometime in 2016.

Thanks, Harpa!

On one hand, I would love to have this process over already and have my GC in hand even if it is a conditional card. But on the other hand a little delay in getting might end up in my favor too!

Ugh! What a double edged sword. Knowing my luck, my interview will be the week before our two year anniversary!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly filing?

Thanks for the responses folks.  I obviously interpreted the process incorrectly.  I figured that since a permanent card was issued to those married for more than 2 years at the time of approval, that that was the deal breaker on when you can file.  In my situation, I am the one who will be receiving the conditional card.  I have been living and working in this country for the past 16 years (on an H1-B), and only recently got married (December 2012).

So, hypothetically speaking, if our marriage had completed two years before being approved for permanent residency, would I not get a permanent card? In this case, I would not have been required to hold be an LPR for 2 years first?

Reading the form instructions, is this how the process works ...

1. At the time of approval, if our marriage is less than 2 years old, I get a Conditional GC.

2. Once I have been issued a Conditional GC, I can only file for ROC within the 90 day prior to expiry window.

Alternatively, if we were married more than 2 years at time of approval, I get a permanent GC, regardless of the fact that I have had no years as an LPR.

Not trying to take a shortcut here ... just trying to understand the process since I seem to be interpreting it incorrectly.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly filing?

Hello there.  I have a question on the timing of filing the I-751 paperwork.  I still don't have my 2-year GC yet, but hope to have it later this year.  My wife and I will complete 2 years of marriage in December 2014.  Taking that into consideration, and thinking ahead ...

1. Can we file the I-751 before the '90-day before card expiration' date?  Or do we have to wait until that window?

2. If it is indeed possible, are there any drawbacks to filing early?

I appreciate any information that you guys are able to provide on this...

April 5 pd..Transfered Nov. 18...nothing after that..hope to hear something soon..

Our cases are pretty close to each other.  My NOA1 was on April 11.  I would imagine we see approvals fairly close together.

I filed I130 last sept. 28 2013 and got noa1 october 3 2013...
Last november 22,2013 it said it was transferred to local uscis.. And today it says it transferred to uscis... I got hard copy today and it says it was transferred to TEXAs... Gosh! I dont understand all this...

Here's some info on why your case (and mine) might have been transferred to Texas.  I received the same notifications.  I received an email that stated my case was transferred to a local office, but the hard copy notice said it was transferred to Texas.  Hard copy takes precedence.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-130 transfered petition to Texas Service Center

Even though I'm in a different filing category, I thought I might post in here since my case was transferred to Texas as well.  A brief summary of my case: I have been on an H1-B visa since 2001.  Employer filed an EB petition in 2003 but that has gone nowhere due to retrogression.  I got married last year to a USC and filed my I-130 in April of this year (receipt date 4/8/13).  Once the 130 is approved, it will be merged with my EB I-485 filing.

The 130 was sent to Chicago and then was sent to NBC.  I received a notice in the mail yesterday that my case was being transferred to the Texas Service Center.

I will keep you posted on the progress...

Cheers!

Yep, someday soon we can all be on our Merry Ways and never have to call and listen to lies. LOL    Unfortunately most of us have to file to clear conditions but it won't be as painful because our spouses will be with us.

GOOD VIBES TODAY !!!!  I hope the processors in Texas  fuel up with coffee and adjudicate their BUTTS OFF today.

Forget coffee - run an IV of Red Bull through their veins!  It will give them wings to fly through the approvals hopefully :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and all the others who are awaiting a decision.  Hope for some good news very soon!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAbout to file ROC: how do we know if USCIS has our new address on file?

I would call their 1-800 number and verify. Annoying cause you get put on hold for a long time but definitely worth it. Don't wanna miss anything from USCIS! Best of luck!

Denied by the postal service or denied by the USCIS? If it was the USPS then you need to contact them to find out what happened.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny approvals for March filers?

I'm aware of that. I mentioned I was approved but that I was filing an I-129F; I never said that applied to them, just giving my experience. As for the factors concerning them, I mentioned citizenship status as well as any other factors such as RFE, etc. I never said or implied they were anything other than a spousal visa.

JeannaFemaleJamaica2013-10-12 10:59:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny approvals for March filers?

It depends on many factors. If the sponsor is a US citizen or permanent resident. If you had any RFE (requests for evidence). Unfortunately so many things. If it's outside the normal processing time for your situation (citizenship status of sponsor as well as your filing date) you are permitted to email an enquiry to the USCIS and they will investigate. If it's not outside of your processing time you can just wait. You may also call the USCIS but the hold time is pretty long usually.

I was a March filer but a) I'm a citizen and b) I was filing an I-129F for my fiance. We were approved on July 17th, sent to NVC in August and the embassy received ours in Aug. However, we didn't hear anything from the embassy and I had to contact them (via email only) and alhamdulillah we finally got our interview date and packet.

iA everything works out!

Call them if you can but hopefully you saved a copy of your petition. Just look it over and see where you omitted an "N/A" and send it in. I find that so ridiculous; couldn't they just CALL someone? It's small things like this that make us afraid of doing any little thing out of the ordinary.

But then when you get to the embassy and don't have your medical or AOS, they let you just bring it back. Crazy.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWho is still waiting for visa to be issued??

Thanks but I'm pretty sure we are not in AP. Our status says Ready on ceac and DOS told us everything is normal with our case and that it should be issued in a few days.

Every visa goes through AP; it's just administrative processing so basically what they do to make it go to issued. Some people, of course, get chosen for ADDITIONAL administrative processing and get held up for weeks or months. Praying that isn't the case for you but every visa goes through AP whether CEAC updates with that or not. Just means they are processing your visa. :)

We were in "ready" for 9 days, AP for 1, then issued. It took an additional 3 days to get the visa at DHL (we opted to pick-up, not deliver). At the time it was HORRIBLE waiting but in retrospect, not too bad. I'm waiting right now for my fiance; he'll be "delivered" around midnight. :) I'm sooo excited!

I hope ya'll get it by this weekend and my thoughts and prayers to anyone stuck in the wasteland of Administrative Processing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportschanging maiden name into marriage name in the middle of visa process

I wouldn't take the change but perhaps some other people have input that have done it? If you are going to take your husband's name it seems to make sense to do it now before you get a social security card issued in your maiden name but you'll have to get your passport changed and depending on your timeline, that could mess you up. I think it would definitely put a kink in the works with immigration; my motto is don't rock the boat! I'd be interested to see if anyone did it mid-petition.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCitizen from Spain and her US husband and daughters want to go back to the US!!

Hi everybody!

Is a little annoying but is not that difficult, and trust me, this is the best position you could be to bring your spouses to the US. My husband is a USC and I'm Venezuelan, both living in Germany. We filed in Frankfurt and all and all took us around 4 and a half months.

The trick is read all the instructions for the whole process at the very beginning and start gathering all the documents you'll need from now. The process takes way longer for many people because they don't have the papers at hand when the Consulate ask you for them and some can take months to get.

Good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 question
If you are more than qualified and have the proper proof it is unnecessary. They hardly ever look at those letters anyways. I think the i130 support letters are more important. You have already been approved beyond the i130..... so those letters would be superficial support.

3 day with yellow triangle and still not payable, huh, how many days approximately?

I don't think it should take very long. If it still isn't payable by Friday afternoon in America, I would give NVC a call to make sure there isn't an error in their program.

Curious that I got an email invoice to pay the IV package and it shows up as a yellow triangle with a pay button but no checkbox to actually pay the thing yet. Government, take my money!

Lots of people have been getting that lately. It was incredibly annoying! All I wanted to do was pay the fee. Thankfully, that frustration only lasted a few days. I'm still laughing about how slow they were to actually let me pay the fee and how quick they were to take the money from my bank account.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2014

IV fee line shows a Yellow Triangle and "Not Paid" status but if we click 'Pay" tab it takes us to next page and can't pay IV as the SELECT column not available.

Is it just us or a common thing?

When is IV invoiced? Do we receive an invoice email?

This happened to me. We were yellow triangled on Friday, but couldn't pay. I received the invoice email at about 1:30 EDT this morning and was able to pay as soon as I noticed the email when I got up for work. It sometimes takes a day or two for things to sync up. Don't worry, it's sadly a common thing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2014
Also, a question for any Japanese filers:

They asked for the koseki shohon. Since that means the "family register" and not the large marriage certificate we received, I was wondering why they asked for that? My husband had to go to the ward office and they refused to give it to him at first saying there must be some mistake and the USCIS was actually requesting the koseki tohon. It was really confusing and frustrating.

I translated the document myself, which I hope will not be a problem...after all this waiting I felt I could do it on my own and it would be a waste of time to have a company do it for us...I hope this wasn't a mistake. If you are truly married there should be no denial, right? After all this time though I feel like anything could happen, and it is making me nervous. If anyone has some knowledge on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated here!

Thanks!

Yes, there is a mistake. They are requesting your husband's koseki touhon. That one is a transcript of his family records. The shouhon is only an excerpt and often omits anything that has to do with former spouses such as divorces, annulments, and deaths. USCIS definitely wants to know about that kind of stuff. You need to get the koseki touhon from your city hall or ward office.

I'm sorry I can't help more with the RFE stuff.
