That is amazing how fast they are moving! It wasn't that way for us but I am so happy they are finally starting to step and go quickly. :)

However, don't make plans for Thanksgiving just yet. It typically takes 2-3 weeks for the visa issuance; I sincerely hope ya'll are together by then; my fiance is also waiting on his visa and I'm hoping he'll be here very soon but preparing for it to take an extra week or two just because that's how things seem to happen. Hope ya'll get it soon!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow to track passport via DHL (Kingston JA embassy)

DHL are the one's that issue the waybill #. It can take 3-4 days for it to post on the US-Visainfo site. Oftentimes, you get the waybill number your visas/passports will already be available for pick up. This part of the process is very inefficient as there is a lag between DHL waybill# creation and the waybill# posting on CSC -usvisainfo.

It make it more complicated when trying to make travel arrangements, especially now that it is the busiest time of the year to travel...and expensive.

So is there any other way to find out if they are ready? We need to get tickets bought ASAP. :)

Your waybill number will pop-up when you register with DHL and enter your visa payment number.

We didn't get a visa payment number according to my fiance. When we registered with DHL it didn't ask for one, we just followed the instructions on the DHL sheet they gave and it never asked for a visa payment number. Ack!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow to track passport via DHL (Kingston JA embassy)

Salaam and peace ya'll. How are we supposed to be able to track our passport/visa? In Kingston the passport is given to DHL and then the beneficiary either picks up at their location or it's delivered.

Do I go on the www.usvisa-info.com and sign in there to get our waybill number? My fiance was not given anything when he dropped his passport off and the CO didn't tell him what to do to track it. Since I wasn't there, I just don't know. Any help is appreciated! I'm a total information junkie; I know it won't get to us any quicker I just like knowing. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisas delivered! Our CEAC timeline below

Salaam and peace ya'll, we got the notice my fiance and his son's passports were ready for pick-up! We opted for pick-up at the local DHL location instead of delivery. Here is our timeline:

Our CEAC timeline:

Nov. 1st interview, CO gave temp rejection while they adjudicated my foreign divorce

Nov. 7th created our account in CEAC, switched to "Ready"

Nov. 8th Called fiance to tell him to bring in passports for visa issuance

Nov. 12th Dropped off passports at embassy in Kingston, no paper or confirmation given

Nov. 12th his son's status was updated, kept at "Ready" but fiance's was not

Nov. 20th both put into AP... getting close!!!

Nov. 20th fiance now updated to "Issued" but son kept at "AP"

Nov. 21st his son is now updated to "Issued" as well

Nov. 25th Checked usvisa-info.com website all day, no update then received email from the website with our waybill #

We are very excited! Hoping they can fly in on Thanksgiving Day; the tickets are cheaper that day than the surrounding ones. :) Thanks to everyone for all of their support and kind words; I am past excited we can FINALLY buy tickets and make real plans!!!

So in total, 24 days from his first interview and 13 days from when he dropped off their passports. :) Hope this gives some others a bit more hope and information. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAfter 10 months and no NOA 2 *Lost Files*

The first time we filed our I-129F they took TEN months to deny it! So frustrating. We did not meet in person but you are allowed to ask for an exemption. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks with end stage renal failure and put on dialysis and they would not let my fiance come visit! So we applied for an exemption and it took them ten months to say, nope sorry.

Praise God we reapplied in March 2013 and it went smoothly; I tend to think because someone felt sorry for us that we were screwed the first time around. I really feel for ya'll. :(

Ya'll need to contact the embassy! Ours was the same way, we never received anything, I emailed them after 2 months and within a week we had an appointment date for 3 weeks past. I swear, I don't know how things get so confusing but it sure does! Whether it's the mail service or incompetence, I don't know but contact them as soon as possibe (and as kindly as possible!) to find out what's going on. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFiance has his trip booked! :)

Salaam and peace, ya'll. My fiance finally has his flight booked! We had a problem getting his son's passport from DHL. My fiance opted to pick up at the DHL headquarters but he did not realize he needed his son's birth certificate to pick up his son's package. He no longer had his son's birth certificate and in Jamaica, it takes 3 days to get a new one. :( He went on Tuesday to pick up and I am sooo glad I did not go ahead and buy their tickets! We firmly believe visa in hand before plans!

So I was disappointed but we believe everything happens for the best so we are just going forward. He ordered a new birth certificate that day and it should be ready on Friday, God willing.

Now we had a lot of issues with finding a flight because of so many itineraries not giving ample time to clear immigration at the POE. We finally opted for a straight flight from Montego Bay to Atlanta but my fiance lives in Kingston.

He is taking the Knutsford Express on 5 am Tuesday morning and his flight leaves at 2:58 pm. So he needs to be there by 1 pm for his international flight.

Wondering if any of you have taken that bus and if in reality you had enough time to make your flight? He doesn't have any friends in Mobay so it would be difficult for him to arrive the day before. If anyone has taken that route, please share your experiences!

Florida, that was my exact thought! "Let's take a breath before jumping in again!" Good for me, though, is I work during the tax season so I definitely have the "extra" income for all the fees and paperwork we are about to be hit with once again! It worked out nicely. :)

Well thanks everyone for your replies, nice to know I'm not alone.

I wonder though every site we looked at before here was saying 5-6 months but there are peoples timelines showing 385 days from the time they sent their packet in to the time that they finally got their interview. Thats a scary timeline.

I wonder if it would just be feasible to go to the states for 4-6 months and wait this out there?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNo Information or help at all on USCIS site :(
Hey Guys,

My fiancée petitioned for the K-1 visa back in November 2012 and we haven't heard any information on our case at all.
He called and they told him they would call him back...they eventually did but with no information at all. They just said to wait another 45-60 days...this was in January.
All the USCIS site says when we enter the receipt number is •Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

When I tried calling the number they told me they couldn't tell me anything about the case at all because I wasn't the petitioner.

Anyone have any advice on this? Is it normal to not hear anything for 4 months after NOCA?

They're going off to war. You know, with bullets, bombs, and rocket launchers. I think a little family time is called for, whether we support said war or not.

Well, you have a point, but they weren't drafted but volunteered, you know. They could choose a different career and be with their family more if they chose family over work, couldn't they.

It's been almost 6 months since since NOA1 (NBC) and is frustrating as ever!

It's so unfair that US soldiers get all the work done getting NOA2 within 1 or 2 months.

And their cases are the very cause why the VJ estimation is beyond accurate. It used to say June and now December.

Is this frustrating or what? :(

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

Ok all you preggo people lol .. Did you guys use a regular family doctor or a OBYGN? I really want a female doctor for this pregnancy. But do not know how to go abouts getting one do I ask my family doctor?

Oh just found out today... 5 weeks .

I used an OBGYN. I had just moved here so I didn't have a family doctor so the NP that was in the walgreens clinic gave me a couple of referrals to OB's in town. I would call your insurance company as they should have a list of providers that accept your insurance. Not all doctors accept all insurance and visa versa. It will also be important to find out what hospital your doctor delivers at and ensure that your insurance works with that hospital as well.

I chose to use a "group" type practice that way they always have a doctor on call. I have read a fair bit about going to a single Doctor practice and the fact that they tend to have more inductions because women don't always go into labour according to that doctors schedule!!!! (you don't want a baby to interupt the Dr's golf game...lol). I just tried to make my appts with a different doctor in the practice each time so that I got a chance to meet them.

I was thinking I would need something warm too. I tend to find they keep the a/c way to cold for me. I remember those small towels they had some like that in Canada when I had my other kids. I'm going to have to look for the nursing tank tops, I just used a light sport bra with my other kids. Since I'm not blessed or cursed with large boobs I got away with it.

I hear that Target sells a comfy line of nursing tanks at a very reasonable price. I go on the forums on thebump.com and have read a lot of reccomendations for them there.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

Thanks Colleens, that's exactly what I wanted to know. The 2 hospitals I looked at have a list of items to bring, but they made it look like they aren't supplying anything at all. I will most likely go the Hospital that is closer to us well they are about the same distance just one is a more direct route. If this baby is like the others I wont have time to mess around with traffic. Ya needles are something I really get freaked out about, so if I can avoid it I will. I will be talking to my OB about all this but I wanted to see what others experienced so I can figure out if its going to be a battle.

I know that they sometimes like to have the IV in as a measure just in case you were to need an emergency c-section. It can save valuable time in that event and would probably be less stressful to have it done upon being admitted rather than in an already stressful emergency situation. But when it comes to your health care, you ultimately make the decision as to what proceedures you want to have done or not.

A few more things that I thought about as to what to bring to the hospital. I brought a nice fleecy robe since I tend to always be cold, but didn't end up using it as I didn't want it to end up stained. Flip-flops or slippers are nice to have when going back and forth to the bathroom. The towels the hospital provided for a shower were pretty tiny and kinda rough, so I had packed a better towel as well. I decided to breastfeed and I found that the nursing tank tops were quite comfy for the hospital.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

Well next week I get to have my 2nd ultrasound, I'm so excited and nervous at the same time.

Anyways, I've been checking out a few things about where to have the baby. I've been advised not to have the baby in the Hospital here since they don't have any type of NICU so it would be better to just go to Little Rock. That's not a big deal since distance wise its all the same, but what does have me confused is what on earth do I really need to bring. to the hospital. I have seen a few list of things to bring with me but heck they have everything under the sun on it. Does the hospital provide anything at all?

OK now my other big concern is the labour itself, I hate needles so bad I had all 4 kids naturally just to avoid the dang needles. Now everything I've read talks about IVs for just about everything. Like you get it whether you need it or not. So to all the mommies who experienced the births of the babies in the US please let me know how it was for you. I know each State will probably be different but at least I will be able to make sure my Doctor knows well in advance how I feel and doesn't try to pull any stunts. I plan on staying home as long as I can so they can't stick me with a bunch of needles.

I think I need to stop reading sometimes lol.
Danielle

I brought a fair bit of stuff with me, and I didn't end up using much of it, but I thought it was better to be prepared and have it rather than not (even though we only live 10 mins from the hospital and hubby could have easily gone home and got what I needed!). Things that I was really glad to have; lifesavers to suck on during labor, chapstick, a couple of bottles of gatorade (at my hospital they don't want you to have anything other than ice chips or popsicles) but I took a few small sips now and then to help a bit with energy. I also packed a bunch of nutri grain and granola bars and other healthy snacks. After 12.5 hrs, I was STARVING. I couldn't eat right away, but as soon as I got the go ahead I was able to have a snack. I didn't get to the post-partum ward and get breakfast till almost 4hrs after the birth and they didn't give you very much for breakfast :(

As far as baby stuff....they had all the diapers, wipes, receiving blankets for the stay in the hospital. We packed a few things but didn't end up using them. Most hospitals offer tours of the L&D ward, so I suggest you go for one. You can as all the questions as to what they provide there and know for certain, as every hospital is probably a bit different.

As far as IV's go, I would speak with your OB about this. You can refuse any treatment while in the hospital, so if you don't want to do IV fluids you shouldn't have to. I had to be induced, so in that case, I needed to have an IV to have the pitocin administered. Needles don't bother me so it was no big deal.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

There are a number of folks who've realized that having the baby in Canada is the best route since your healthcare costs are coverd by the province (as are the baby's when he/she is born).

As for what your fiance's healthcare insurance covers get him to check into that at work. His HR/ benefits person should be able to tell him when he is able to add you and the baby when you move. Most likely the baby can be covered immediately since it's his child....you may have to wait for a qualifying event like the wedding - he needs to find all that out for you before moving. You wouldn't want any surprises after you move since a newborn can;t be going without healthcare.

BTW - you may find that his insurance will not cover your pregnancy - I think that happened to someone else here.It 'could' be considered a pre-existing condition which means they may choose not to cover you...that wouldnt be good. The new healthcare laws are changing things - but not sure how soon.

I think if you get married and haven;t had the baby yet, they may HAVE to cover you...pregnancy and all - can anyone else with more experience comment?

Because we come from a country that has a national health care plan we are covered under the HIPPA laws, so they can not deny you insurance (even if it is private insurance). I wasn't covered under hubbies insurance at first even after marriage because he was only part time at his job and the plan specified that they would only cover him until he became full time. I looked into private insurance and could get it (through Blue Cross Blue Shield), but with the maternity rider it was going to cost $2450.00 per MONTH. They can't deny you, but they don't have to make it affordable either!!!!
Your husband will have to look into if you need to have a SSN in order to add you to the insurance as well. Although it is not law that you have one, some companies will do everything they can to not add you until you have one.

It is pretty expensive having a child here, so if you are able to stay in Canada to do it, you will save a lot of money.

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?
Our LO arrived this morning at 5:28. I went to my Dr's appt yesterday and found out that my fluid levels were low so they decided to do an induction. We started at just after 5pm last night, and I made it to about 8pm and 6-7cm before I decided an epidural would be a good thing. They broke my water right after the epidural and within about 30 mins I was at 8cm. So I got to thinking this isn't going to be too bad!! It took awhile to get to complete, then the pushing began. She didn't want to get out from behind my pelvis, so I ended up pushing for close to 4hrs. I had about a 45min break about halfway through where they just let my contractions help move her forward a bit. But we finally got her out and it was well worth all the work and the wait. She is super sweet with TONS of hair! She has been breastfeeding like a champ already and so far she has not been fussy at all....but I know that will soon change!!

She weighed 7lbs 13oz and was 19.5" long. They took her for a bath a couple hours ago and brought her back with a super cute red and white striped hat and little white socks with little candy cane appliques...too cute!! I am still a bit numb from the epidural, and I am not sure I am looking forward to it all wearing off!!!
