K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about G-325A form...
Be sure to write the name EXACTLY as it appears in his bith certificate/ ID......a little confussion may cause a big mess go according to the identification papers he has. However, if you have gone through some changes in your name you should provide a cout decree from the registro civil about that and the cause for the change of name. If the paper is in Spanish it should be translated and notarized.....I know...I know...its a real pain in the ##### but what wont be do for love......

Thats the same dilema we had.....but from what I understood sometimes being married may complicate things a little bit more. For instance, I would hate being married and living alone for 8 months!!!! GOOOOODNESS!!!!
We finally decided to opt for the k1 after talking with many friends in this site...it seems to be that they suspect less about fraudulent marriages if you actually ask them permission to get married there....actually it even makes the change of status and the removal of conditions easier in the future because you cared going to the K1 first....so those were our key points for deciding on K1 basically. Good luck in every path you choose!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFrequently travelling and denied?
Hi Lousiana man! My fiancee is from Houma...
Yes I have that question too because my bf came twice to Israel and the second time they asked a lot of questions....hes planning to come for a third time in 2 months....its hard..i cant get a visitors visa because im filing for k1....so i probably will get denied...if i try...
so the only way to see him is if he comes here from time to time....the Israeli immigration officers arent that nice either....
yep...tough...what can I say???

For what i've learnt laweyers cause even more trouble...and you cannot trust them. The bottom line is that you end up doing most of the job....
I cannot tell you that your situation is an easy one...so I guess that after all you do need someone...but someone competent.
It sounds like a good advice to get married....why didnt you do then???

you need a lawyer you can trust...

Yep, that is what US Department of state has.

Police Records

Available. If a person is physically present in the country, s/he must apply personally for a Police Record. The Argentine Federal Police issue a police record entitled "Certificado de Antecedentes". This document, which may be obtained only by bearers of Argentine passports, Cedulas, or DNIs (Documento National de Identidad, indicates whether a person has any previous convictions in Argentina. When a foreigner has applied for residence in Argentina, the Federal Police will, in certain cases, issue the certificate based on a request from the Argentine immigration authorities. In some cases, however, prior convictions can be expunged after 10 years have elapsed. The application for this document must be made in person to the Federal Police in Buenos Aires, and is available to any person over 18 years old who is physically present in Argentina, regardless of status. A fee is charged. Also acceptable is the "Certificado de Buena Conducta" which is available from all of the provinces of Argentina, except the provinces of Buenos Aires, Chubut, La Pampa, Misiones and Salta. These certificates must be applied for in person from the police office having jurisdiction over the place of residence. Argentine citizens and former residents abroad can apply for a police certificate through the nearest Argentine Consular office. They must be in possession of an Argentine identity card (Cedula de Identidad) issued by the Argentine Federal Police. (Processing takes up to six months). A passport may be issued to an individual at a consular post which would not indicate that there is no warrant for arrest, or a judge may have authorized the passport issuance even though there may be an outstanding warrant.

Similar happened to my wife while we were working on the K-1, she lost her national ID card, and it took 4-5 months to get a new one, I was amazed, in the USA if I lost my state ID I could get a new one in a week or so, fortunately the USA does not have national IDs for citizens, I can imagine what a boondoggle getting one replaced would be.

let me tell you even more, in Israel I can get ANY lost doc in 20 mins!....however they told me I will have to wait from 8 months to a year....If I had the ID it would take only 2 weeks....would it be better to travel there ...I even dont have a argentinian passport...all I have is a birth certificate, the Policia federal only deals with ID cerificates and nothing more......
Im amazingly ...... blink.gif speechless!!!! I cant even describe my frustration in words.... I lived there till the age of 17....just for one year..since I was 16....CRAZY!

We have filled for our visa at the VSC.
I just started putting all the docs together for the interview but I lost my Argentinian ID which I need for the police certificate and renewing takes from 8 months to 1 year.....what happens now? can the embassy hold on till I get all the docs? is there a limit of time? should we re apply next year? wouldnt it be a problem applaying again in less than 2 years? would it complicate things if we apply later? I dont know what to do....Im confused and I cant yet understand how a paper that usually takes two weeks suddenly will take almost a year to get because of the ID...Argentina's burocracy: banana country! mad.gif

Well, you haven'ty gotten your NOA2 yet so, I would say see what you can do about getting the ID renewed. As far as packet 3 goes, I don't think there is a time limit to return what they need but you can check with your consulate for verification. Maybe they will be willing to give you a little more time to resolve the situation if they know your circumstances.

But, I think, the first thing to do is start the process to get that ID renewed. Then you can have something to show the consulate if they ask for it.

Good luck.

I think you are right on target....maybe till my case leaves for the embassy it will take about 3-4 months...and they maybe they will be willing to hold on ...or maybe a congressman could help there a bit....yes it may be akay at the end after all...thank you!

Who told you it takes that long? According to the website of the Ministerio del Interior de Argentina it only takes 15 days to get it renewed. Read here: Instructivo para Ciudadanos Nacionales: D.N.I duplicado y otros ejemplares.

If I were you, I'd call the listed number and get the right info. and start the renewal process right away.

I hope this helps!

Thats a lie! I was at the embassy yesterday! they tell lies in websites and then they tell you something different in person...I guess they are ashamed on how things occur over there!!! I just started and paid for the 8 months to one year process here in the Argentinean consulate in Israel. But thanks

I wouldn't recommend it.

Worse case, though, they will interview you and then pink slip you till you produce the certificate. Best case, they won't even ask.

According to the law they have to ask....even if I get the K! without the Argentinean certificate , they will require it for sure for the AOS....( OMG! that should be nasty if I dont have it by then!) I dont know what to do!!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview without Police certificate....yes or no?
I lost my Argentinean ID. I was born in Argentina but live in Israel since 88. At the Argentinean embassy they told me to first get a new ID ( takes between 8 months to 1 year!) and then ask for the certificate (takes 2 weeks).
I already got packet 3 and our NOA 2 expires August 2nd.
We have all the other relevant documents....should I go to the interview without the certificate and explain the circumstances in a letter? Will they deny or just give a blue slip and wait? . My visa is being processed in Jerusalem. Thanks a lot!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLawyers?
no lawyers needed, we have done all by our own and we were approved in 34 days. The forms are not complicated to understand and if you do your homework...the process is quite predictable and not impossible to complete. In addition, I would hate having a lawyer to tell me what the news are while \i could get it faster directly. A good lawyer is needed when you have a real serious problem in which you need to apply some legal knowledge regarding inmmigration, otherways its just a waiste of money and quite frustrating.

I have done hundreds of hours of research...
I feel fairly confident in my ability to cross my t's and dot my i's....
a lawyer wants to charge me a flat fee of $750...
I also want to take a trip to see my baby in Nottingham... which would cost about that much...
What should I do?
Is a lawyer necessary?
What were your experiences? With or without a lawyer?
