yes girl.. it was hard becuz roger keeps my phone while at work so ididn't get my sisters text when the dr called her.
i went to the hospital as my regular visit after work.. the nurse told me he was moved but didnt say why..
when i got there.. the chaplain greeted me with "im sorry for ur loss" i was like
it was heartbreaking cuz he seemed to be doing SOOO well, but God wanted him to get well enough to get RIGHT..
the last time i saw him.. we were all listening to a sermon his cousin had recorded and my dad listened to the WHOLE thing, he had wanted my sister to sing to him but she wasn't there so we listend to that instead..
he told me how overwhelmed he was from everybody's outpour of love and attention that mnth he was in hospital..most of us he hadn't seen in years.. he told me he loved me and i told himand i know any shame or condemnation was gone.. i know he gained a relationship w/ the Lord too..he was ready.. had he got back in those streets, who knows what would have happened to him..

that will comfort you
he's in a better place now

I am pre-paid for cremation.

It's a personal choice. I saw "Poltergeist".....that's pretty much all I am saying on it in public in case I offend anyone.

hey ya'll!!! wanna thank EVERYBODY for the love on yesterday.. texts, fb comments everything.. i love my i-family!!!!!!!!!!

i am thankful that we all got to be with my dad his last mnth.. we talked and laughed and i know it was God cuz he could have easily died without us having this chance..

question...what do you think about cremation.. i personally have nothing against it, but some familymembers are tripping for real.. my dad has no money and cremation is the most affordable route but for a couple more hundred we could have just a gravesite burial w/ no head stone..
just looking for a lil more knowledge on the subject

((((hey q))))
you seem to be holding up pretty well, keep your head up
i see nothing wrong with cremation but i know most ppl don't like the idea
i believe in practicality over "tradition"
did your dad express any wishes on how he wished to be sent off?

Someone was asking about this a while back (can't remember who) but... my niece did a report on this for her school -- this is part of the info I gave her

Nine Night

It was important that the rituals were followed in a particular order so as not to offend the dead and ensure the spirit's safe journey back to God. In African belief the self has three components - the body, the spirit and the shadow or duppy. Once the body is dead and the spirit began his/her journey to God, the duppy or shadow could live on and wreak havoc for the living if not given due respect.

Long ago, it was believed that the spirit would return to Africa and therefore sometimes messages were sent to loved ones in activities that occurred during the nine-day period which gave the living the time to ensure that the spirit understood that it should depart from its home.

Technically, the nine night is the period of mourning after death that culminates in ceremonies involving food and dancing on the ninth night. Following Christian custom, the soul's ascent to Heaven is emphasised while African traditions call for more emphasis to be placed on placating the spirit of the dead person. Religious ceremonies tend to be staged first so as to ensure that the dead understands that it is time to leave his/her old home. If this is not done the spirit is said to haunt the living

Don't sacrifice Jamaica for 'Dudus', lawyer warns

BY KARYL WALKER Crime/Court Co-ordinator walkerk@jamaicaobserver.com

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

UNITED States-based attorney Professor David Rowe, yesterday warned the Jamaica Labour Party Government to be careful not to put the fate of an entire nation on the 'fortunes' of one individual.

Rowe's warning comes a day after Washington lashed Kingston for its failure to extradite Tivoli Gardens strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke to face drug trafficking charges in the US, and questioned Jamaica's commitment to law enforcement co-operation.

"The fate of one person will jeopardise the bi-lateral relationship. Jamaica wants to be a part of the international community; Jamaica does not want to be some backwater where we are subject to the whims and fancies of drug dealers," Rowe, a Jamaican, told the Observer.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding, speaking in Parliament yesterday, hinted that his Government was not keen on signing the extradition order as evidence collected against Coke bordered on illegal.

But Rowe said Golding's stance could have dire consequences for the nation's security and economy.

"Jamaica's income comes from the overseas community and tourism. The US relationship is vital to the Jamaican economy. It is of great importance that the Government be careful about how it responds to an extradition request of that nature," Rowe said.

Rowe was also critical of the JLP Government's unwillingness to arrest Coke and allow the matter to be heard by a local judge as has been the practice in the past.

"Why hasn't that individual been arrested and face the courts? Why are we trying to subvert the process?" Rowe asked. "This country ought to observe its obligation under the extradition treaty and in doing so we would preserve the bi-lateral process and not create a crisis which is what we are now doing," said Rowe.

At the same time, he called for the resignations of Attorney General and Justice Minister Dorothy Lightbourne, as well as Senator Tom Tavares-Finson.

Finson, he said, was burdened by a conflict of interest as he is Coke's attorney and also a Government member of the Senate.

He said that Lightbourne, who has the responsibility of signing extradition requests, should do the honourable thing and resign because of her failure to give the go-ahead for Coke to face charges in the US.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Opposition People's National Party, Robert Pickersgill, accused Golding of being indecisive on the Dudus extradition request.

"He (Golding) talks beautifully around the subject," Pickersgill told the Observer.

The US State Department has accused Coke of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and cocaine, as well as conspiracy to illegally traffic firearms.

The United States, last August, asked Jamaica to arrest Coke and extradite him to the Southern District of New York to answer to the alleged charges.

At work, we're encouraged to submit safety suggestions that a committee votes on. Each month, the winner gets a $50 gas card.

This suggestion won for January. I considered it reason # 23561:

Last Sunday while my kids were playing upstairs in the playroom, my wife and I heard the toy box slam, a loud thud on the floor, after which my 6 year old son started screaming. My wife ran upstairs and found him on the floor with his hands around his neck. When she pulled his hands away, she saw that he had thin rope burns all the way around his neck. He had been standing in the windowsill playing with the cords on the blinds, and had wrapped the cord around his neck by spinning around.

It never occurred to us that our blinds would be an issue, since they were cut shorter and tied together as had been recommended. My son later said that it was the worst day of his life, but I count my blessings, since it could have been a lot worse. Immediately following the incident, I went around the house and cut all of the blind cords to be less than 4 inches long when closed. I have also installed tie-offs, so that when the blinds are open, the cord can be wrapped securely out of kids reach. I have not tied the strands together, as this could also cause a strangulation hazard if they were ever left loose.

why was the child in the play room unsupervised
that's what i would love to know

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJust Received Case Update
Welcome! :star:

I have filed both IR1 and k3, although both were approved at the same time, my guess is I will abandon k3 but still want to keep them both going at this time.

I would advise you to abandon the K3. It is a matter of weeks before you get your interview date if you follow up quickly with the NVC stage. Additionally you will qualify for the IR1 which means you don't have to worry about removing conditions so that removes two cumbersome stages of the process (AOS if you go with K3/removal of conditions)

How many original copies of birth and marriage certificate will I need? My understanding is I will need to send one set now with DS-230 for IR1 and then another original for k3 interview if that happens before IR1 Interview.

You need one for the IR1 but it is prudent to have an extra copy just in case they misplace it. Like I said before ditch the K3 and work with the IR1

Regarding the DS-230, it's my understanding that I can email the form, then follow up with a hard copy and orginal documents. Is this correct?

That would be the DS-3032 which is the Choice of Agent Form and yes you can do that.

Anyone know how long it's taking them from case complete to schedule interview at Kingston?

And finally, I've read that it can take up to two weeks to recieve visa from Kingston, but standard is 3-5 days. Our hope is to fly back together, my thoughts were to schedule return flight a week after interview, and if we haven't gotten it by then, he will have to make the journey without me. Does this sound reasonable?

It can take between a couple days to 2 weeks for your interview to be scheduled between case complete and the interview
Yea 3-5 days is standard however I would not book the flight until the visa is in my hand. Trust me when I say you will drive yourself EXTRA crazy waiting for the visa if you go ahead and book that flight before. Save yourself from the hassle and just wait

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaQuestions Yardies

Hello Yardies :) I hope everyone is doing well. I would like to know:
- How you guys presented your pictures at the visa interview
- How long did you wait after your case was completed to hear from the embassy
- How did you dress for the interview
-What are some of the questions that they asked
-If you know of some cases that were denied and reasons they were denied

we had everything in a folder, in sections. when he asked for pics i took out the envelope with them and gave them to him
it took about 2 weeks to get an interview date from nvc
casual

questions asked (trying to remember as much as possible):
- what is our relationship
- how long have we known each other
- how long have we been married
- do we have kids
- how many ppl attended our wedding
- asked to see pics, phone records, western union reciepts
can't remember anymore questions

i think the main reason ppl get denied at kgn embassy is for drug use. don't know of any other reason

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaYardies a home and a farrin - Part 26!

A "dread" was living in rural Jamaica in a community that had no electricity supply.

One evening he was reading his Bible (Macabee version) and meditating, assisted by lighting from a bedside lamp (Home Sweet Home), but was bothered by the constant nuisance of some mosquitoes.

He could bear it no longer so he decided to cover up under his sheet in bed, but it was useless as the mosquitoes kept biting him on his ears through the sheet.

He got up and blew out the lamp and went back under the sheets, hoping that the mosquitoes would not be able to bother him if they could not see him. The Mosquitoes did not bite him for a few minutes giving the "dread" hope that his so-called plan had worked out perfectly.

Now he was only hearing the constant "humming' of them flying around in the room. It was getting real hot under the sheets, so the "dread" decided that he would take off the sheet as it was too dark for the mosquitoes to see him now.

When he removed the sheets, lay on his back and looked up in the ceiling, he saw a 'peenie wallie' (Firefly) flying around. The "dread" shouted out "BlOOD CLAATT!! DEM CUM BACK WID FLASHLIGHT FI I AND I!!"

You should have seen us getting lost and stopping for directions every 5 minutes when we went in February
I am the kind of person you can give a map to and I can find anywhere... but we did not have a map that day.

I figured if he knows EXACTLY where to turn he would not have to stop...

He will be fine as long as he does not have to go through the curfew area.
Both his brother and sister are going with him.
