Question for the K3/CR1/IR1 filers:

I am getting conflicting opinions on this
huzzy and i are about to send in our I130 and we are looking on sending "evidence of a bonafide marriage"
most of their suggestions for evidence we don't have because we don;t live together. we JUST started a bank account less than a month ago so it doesn't have alot of money in it
i've heard sending affidavits is a "joke"
so i want to know what did you guys send as evidence of a bonafide marriage when you were submitting your I130?

bracing for a decrease in pay because they are taxing di likkle benefits mi used to get

This is just criminal what the government is doing to the average person there! I don't know how it runs there but seems there is a lot of mis-spent money and greedy people who already have fat pockets while the working people continue to get more and more taken from them. This gas tax is ridiculous but even more outrageous is taxing salt, oats, fish and soups....these are all things many live on and cook with regularly. It really seems that they are always trying to keep the small man down. protest6wz.gif ranting33va.gif

Bunz i heard about all tha..but not details..wah dem a sey?

yes it's criminal
they are widening the gct net, so stuff like books and computers, and certain basic items ppl need are now being taxed
ppl are upset (including myself) because we already have such a low literacy rate
why would u tax things which encourage learning and development?
and then on top of that they are now going to tax previously low/non-taxed benefits (rent cheque, travelling allowance, etc) but they're trying to butter it up
by saying they are increasing the tax free threshold but that's like giving a man $2,000 but taking back $20,000
very frustrating
..........and then there is the gas tax! laaaaaaaawd and you all know that's gonna have a multiplier effect

Today I had dinner with my aunt & her friends. Apparently my aunt told them I was engaged to a Jamaican before I arrived. One of the ladies told me that she's heard that a lot of guys who work at resorts in Jamaica pursue American women to get a green card. I responded, "I've heard that before."

What do you all say when people tell you that?

well i've never heard that (since i'm the jamaican) but he has heard similar stuff a couple times
he usually responds in a similar manner as you did and keeps it moving
i've been told he probably has bad credit or has a police record or has hidden children who he owes child support for ... blah blah blah
i usually respond with ok i hear you, and keep it moving as well

Bunz, I agree with you regarding Moments. I love that medley (it's on my iPod) by Busy Signal. I thought their performance was very entertaining, but their vocals were NOT there, esp when each of them sang without the other on that one part. I thought to myself (well, not to myself since I'm sharing) that if they had auditioned separately, they wouldn't have made it.

I wish Tia had picked a song that we know. ::sigh:: (Don't tell Steven I said that.)

lol, its a fairly popular song, at least among christians
i'm always hearing it as their ring tone
but i think reggae songs suit her more, she's really in her element when she does reggae

Sixth Performance: Adena Myrie
Song: My Redeemer Lives
My thoughts: Very good, girl has strong vocals
Anthony: Easily the most inspired and fantastic performance
Nadine: yadda yadda yadda...In awe...yadda yadda yadda
Clyde: Blah blah blah....thought she was solid....blah blah blah

Song: A song by Kurt Carr
My thoughts: Her outfit was NOT doing it for me! but her vocals were great as usual. Heartfelt.
Anthony: Didn't like it. She wasn't at her greatest tonight
Nadine: Thought she showed that she can really sing
Clyde: Thought it was inspiring

Fifth Performance: Moments (why are they still in the competition)
Song: A medley by Busy Signal
My thoughts: Their vocals suck!! but i the medley of the songs they did
Anthony: It was okay, they looked like they were having fun
Nadine: Youthful, fun
Clyde: Energetic, imaginative

This week's play by play of rising stars

Theme: Gospel Night
Judges: Anthony, Nadine, Clyde

First Performance: Princess Tia
Song: some song by yolanda adams
My thoughts: Started weak, not her best. I think reggae songs suit her best.
Anthony: Thinks she is cuter than she is a good singer
Nadine: Thought she conveyed alot of emotions
Clyde: Thought she delivered well. Song came across well.

Second Performance: Angele Smith (why is he still in the competition?)
Song: God is Truly Amazing (originally sung by Denise Williams)
My thoughts: Very meh. He tried though.
Anthony: $hitted on him
Nadine: Blah blah blah.....he was sincere......blah blah blah.
Clyde: Blah blah blah....he sucked.....blah blah blah.

Third Performance: Sandy Smith
Song: I'm Persuaded
My thoughts: Much improved over last week. Vocals are good this week.
Anthony: Thought it was much better than last week.
Nadine: Thought she did well. She was stunned, she thought she was intense.
Clyde: Very passionate rendition, He was "persuaded" (corny)

The sermon was actually very moving and quite the contrary to the earlier praise service. It moved me very much. When it came time to give our offerings...Jonesie and I both pulled out $1000 JA...folded discreetly in our hand and waiting for the plate. Jonesies' niece looked in my hand and said "Ah whaa yuh a look change? Nutten no go so...de plate nuh have so much change man." I responded that I didn't want change, it was my offering. She kissed teet and said "Yuh cyaan buy yuh salvation...why yuh give so much Auntie...wan $50 or $100 dolla good." Then she looked at Jonesie and said "Ehhnnn...ah ow oonu stay inna farrin?" "Too much money yuh throw away." We were sitting there feeling bad that all we were giving was $1000 because we didn't bring a lot of money with us....and we got chastised for "showing off". We still laugh about it because she was so cute in her indignation.

After this long drawn out story...is it really bad to give "too much money" in Jamaican churches if the rest of the congregation can't give as much? I don't want to come off like I am better off or making others feel bad about what they can give. I plan to attend more services in Jamaica on my next reach...and I want to know what is acceptable.

tithing and offerings are always a touchy topic.
I look at it like this, God is an honest God. If He feels you have given too much, He will give it back
and i think there is somewhere in the bible, don't remember the scripture, where it says He will return to you exactly as how u have given to Him, so if you give alot you will get back alot, if you give little, you will get back little
there is no "appropriate" amount, maybe you went to a church in a less rich neighbourhood where ppl look on a thousand dollars as nuff money. but if you have it to give and if the spirit leads you to give that amount, who is another person to talk you down about it (in this case its a child so i understand)

Speaking of ugly feet...

All growing up, I HATED my feet. You'd pretty much NEVER catch me wearing any open-toed shoes or flip flops or anything through elementary school and high school. I felt more self-conscious when swimming about my feet than my body. But when I went to college, I saw that people with a variety of foot-shapes still showed them. I felt LIBERATED! I no longer felt self-conscious about wearing flip flops or going barefoot.... even when one of my sorority sisters told me that my feet looked like Shrek's, it still didn't shake my new-found joy at baring them.
