IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS230 question

the certificates needs to have both name listed on it.otherwise, they might reject it and you might have to submit it either here at NVC or at the embassy.

not true
as a wife filing for your husband, his father being on his birth certificate has nothing to do with it,
my father's name is not on my certificate and i gave his details on our forms and had no issues
i believe that issue is relevant only when it is a parent filing for a child or vice versa

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to do??
QUOTE (SushiMama @ May 26 2009, 01:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My boyfriend and I met online in January 2009 and have fallen in love with each other madly. I live in the Netherlands and he is in Seattle. HE cannot move away from America because of his son, hence I will have to move. We want to get married and do not mind doing the K-1or even the K-3 if necessary. It is nearly June now and we would like for me to be there by December 2009. What is the fastest way for me to get there? The options I am thinking of are :

1. Go there as a visitor, get married and file for K-3? ( I am aware this might qualify as Visa Fraud but correct me if I am wrong and share your experiences if you have any);
2. Apply for a K-1 visa as soon as possible, will this be processed in 5 months?
3. Get married here in The Netherlands and apply for K-3 is this faster than the K-1 ?
4. What is a CR-1? is that the same as K-3?

WE would appreciate any help so that we can start our beautiful life together soon smile.gif

Thank you so much!

i don't think you would file a K3 in that case, you would just file to adjust your status
and yes it can be construed as visa fraud
the K1 is probably your best bet

QUOTE (NatPatBen @ Jul 27 2009, 10:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I did read the embassy experience of someone who, with his fiancee, took plenty of pictures the day before their interview. They put on diff outfits and took them in diff places, then went to a 1 hr photo development lab. That could be your last resort if you don't have any before the interview.

and that is why i think the idea that using pics as evidence of a bonafide relationship is garbage for precisely that reason

PhilippinesMedical Exam Kingston

I need help.. my finacee has his medical on Nov 9 and interview on Nov 21. he just realized he hasn't had the hepetitis shots. What is the best way to handle this, since I hear the shots must be done 6 weeks apart.

I am not sure I follow...the dates mentioned are current dates correct? When you go in to do your medical all shots that are outstanding will be given to you and you will pay for those. You take along your immunization card and the medical representatives will determine what shots need to be re done or just done in general.

I hope this info helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 petition being sent back to USICS for further review

My fiance had a interview yesterday and stated that the IO was being a real jerk asking him stupid questions that made no sense. The IO made fun of our relationship he made jokes about how much money I sent to my fiance and ridiculed the pictures that we took, asking who are in the picture he said its my fiance and my friend and the IO said are you sure thats not you and jermaine said of course thats not me, his friend is brown skin and my fiance is dark skin plus his friend is short and he is tall ####### the IO was a #### I would think

what I would like to know if there is anyone in the same situation that have successfully got approved in the end. After the petition was returned to USICS for further review

Now...a very common trait that all of us may see eye to eye with whether it was from experience or through third party experience is the frustration that comes with the journey we must all go through to get what we need. :)
In Jamaica they say "if yuh want good yuh nose haffi run" but I must say I do not agree with the tone in which you have displayed here after the result of your fiance's interview. :o

If you feel as though your fiance has been mistreated you can put that in writing "Properly" and send to the relevant body. You will not be the first and last couple to have their case sent back because of failure to convince the Officer that your relationship indeed a bonafide one. "All" questions no matter how foolish they may seem is to help the Officer make the decision as to whether he/she believes the relationship is fictitious or not.

:ot2: My heart goes out to you at this time, and I do however urge you to do your research as it pertains to the current status of your case in making an appeal or to wait for a review from USCIS.

No matter how frustrated I do not believe you should lash out at the Officers of the United States Embassy in that was to come on this website using foul languages like that.

I hope someone on here is able to assist you :help: ...or at least share there experiences and results

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP! :-( My fiancé hasn't received his visa.

Hoping to get some good answers here.

Ok so my fiancé still hasn't got his visa yet. Other people who had their interviews after he did already got theirs tuesday and Wednesday. Does anyone know how I can contact embassy. I looked at the Jamaica embassy info tab and the # isn't there anymore.
When he got approved I waited 2 days and checked DHL said shipment picked up or whatever so I thought it was on it's way. I'm an idiot I go and book our tickets. Go to check next day it says on hold and hasn't changed. I'm kinda worried. Our flight doesn't leave till Dec 1st but still. I already know I SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT but it's to late what is done now. I've emailed them but no answer. So hoping someone will help out with a number that will get me straight to a person....

Thanks so much I'n advance.

Which date was this that your fiance had his interview? Also I have seen where it takes 14 business days or more for individuals to receive their passports and packages. What you should do is to also check with DHL via the telephone and not their website as my package had arrived the day I called but it was not updated on their system online as it was still saying "On Hold". Now you have already pointed out that you should not have bought tickets but I wish the best for you in receiving the documents as you have 2 weeks and 4 days in total until the first/exactly 13 business days.

As it regards to communicating with the embassy, if your husband case is in the printing department it is up to the discretion of the agent reading the mail whether they need to reply to you are not. But I do hope they do. If you've sent your email already as you previously indicated allow them the 5 business days to reply to you. Try not to resend the same questions multiple times.

I wish you the best of luck but I have a feeling you'll receive your package on time, its natural for us to worry and freak out in these situation.

Good luck and Blessings...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoval of Conditions and church wedding.
We had our AOS approved in March 2010 after doing civil ceremony and now we are planning to renew vows (church wedding with extended family and friends) in July 2011. Will that cause any issues with USCIS 6 months later at the removal of conditions interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Certificate
The payment and the pickup is done at two different sites. The payment is made at NCB Towers, New Kingston. If my memory serves me correctly they don't accept plastic and you can either do the express 3 working day service of $3000 or the 30 days service of $1000. He will take the receipt of payment to C.I.B. Headquarters, East Queen Street, Kingston and apply for the certificate. He must have a valid passport or they won't issue it. Please verify the fee amount, my husband did his in November 2009.

Thank you!! Maybe we will try that! Thanks again!

My fiance, now my husband filled out all his form with his father's particulars, but did not have him on his birth certificate. I attended the interview along with my fiance in November 2009, Kingston Jamaica and they issued the visa without asking any questions about his dad. You should be fine.

My husband's CR1 interview is in March. I would like to be there but we have a baby. Anyone know if we can bring our (then) 9 month old to the Consulate for the interview? I'd rather not put him through it honestly yet I was thinking it might help our case if we go together. Any advice?

Thank you in advance!

CanadaUpdate on Domicile

Oh you bet I've read all the other threads about domicile!

I've also got an email from the Senator's office with the response from the Deputy Consul General stating what is required. So if that does not do it then nothing will. What they are blaming a lot of these domicile misunderstandings on is new employees at the Montreal Consulate. All those folks that were essentially forced to split up was entirely unnecessary but I understand why they would do it. I think our particular situation is one where we can take the time to get some answers because what they're telling people in Montreal about domicile and how you have to move back to the US first is bogus!

May I ask what the Senator's office email stated was required?
I'm in a similar boat. I'm terrified we will be denied. We have a baby who is growing so fast these days. I really don't want to have to move down ahead of my husband and have him miss all these first milestones.

CanadaInfant at Montreal Interview
Thank you everyone. =)
We had a good experience. I'm glad we brought him in the car seat and left the stroller at home. He was old enough that we were able to get away with changing his diaper in the car before and after. He was tired and cranky to be stuck in the car seat while in line so early and I don't blame him one bit. But he awesome while we were in the building though.
I am so glad we all went together. I like to think having our happy baby with us was good luck; we were approved.

CanadaInfant at Montreal Interview
My husband's interview is this Wednesday the 24th.
We've read that big strollers aren't a good idea. Do you think it might be okay to take our 9 month old son in the infant carrier (the part that goes in the car seat base)? I don't know how else to transport him besides just carry him. Of course I could do that too, he's lighter than that darn carrier. Ha.
In November we entered the US Consulate in Ottawa with him in the carrier without a problem. We had to remove him to walk through the screening but that's no trouble. I wonder if security is tighter at Montreal vs Ottawa.

Thank you in advance for your insight and advice. =)

CanadaProving domicile when not living in the U.S.

Maybe, maybe not. I assume you have read some of the reviews above and you saw jonesg111 post today. As he mentioned, they explain some of this confusion on having so many new staff. Hopefully his representative contacting Montreal will enable them to review their approach.

No one can really say how these applications will be viewed now. Technically you should be able to submit evidence that you are reestablishing domicile - but lately, for whatever reason, they have not been accepting this.

You mention you have already send a lease from your parents and a Uhaul quote - you have already submitted these with your DS-230?

Yes, I have read some of the reviews. And I have read what Jones posted. Bless his heart for taking it to his representative. I certainly pray the new staff can be reviewed. Its heartbreaking and frustrating to see others get so far only to run into such complications.

We did not sign a lease with my parents. They are letting us stay for free. I sent the letter from my parents and u-haul quote with my affidavit of support.
BoopFemaleCanada2010-01-27 17:23:00
CanadaProving domicile when not living in the U.S.
Oh boy, after reading the problems so many seem to be having I don't think we have a chance.

I'm a USC and a PR of Canada since 2004. We were married in 99' and I've been living with my husband in Canada since 2001. We started this process in 2007 but we were so dang confused and reluctant to be apart during the process we didn't finish it until now. Now we have a son and its just that much more important we stay together.

To prove I intend to reestablish domicile we have:

A US checking and savings account I opened when we visited my family for Christmas last month.
A US funds account with our Canadian bank.
We have our 7 month old son's certificate of birth abroad, his US passport. We applied for his SSN and it should arrive in a couple of weeks.
I have already sent a letter from my parents confirming they are opening their home to us.
I've already sent a U-haul rental quote.

I'm sure this isn't going to be enough. I'm convinced we will be denied.

Is our only option left for me and our son to move down now before the interview?
