I got married in Scotland this summer. I'm not sure if you know but you'll need a visa to get married over there.

The best advice is to read the Guides and FAQ's. There is a lot of great information in there and should help you on your way.

Good Luck! luv.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresare there any change concerning the I-130 fee?
It is a lot but if you file a I-129 and the I-130 you don't have to pay a seperate fee. It actually a savings of $5 for those who do both. smile.gif

Plus the fee increase is helping to hire 1500 employees. Once they are trained hopefully that'll get this backlog unjammed and everything moving.

I don't know how much this means but every immigration officer I've spoken to says to ignore the website. They said it was not accurate. I don't blame the immigration officers for the backlog. I blame the head of USCIS for not having the foresight to hire and train those 1500 new hires (or at least half of them) BEFORE the fee increase.

I'm not happy that my petition is 100 days old and I have nothing to show it for it. A cashed check would be a sign that it's progessing, even if it's at snails pace. I miss my hubby more than I ever thought it was possible to miss someone. However, creating more clogs in the works is not beneficial to anyone. I'm waiting, sometimes not so patiently, but I know my turn will come. I just thank my lucky stars that I have the means to see him in 12 days.

USCIS couldn't hire more workers before the fee increase. It was explained when the new fees were first proposed that USCIS in fee based, meaning working from the fees they collect. They don't recieve money appropriated by Congress. Once more money started coming in, they could start hiring more people. What I wonder, is if once the USCIS starts catching up with the process, what will happen at NVC with the increased volume. Our application took 5 months from the NOA #2 to case completed, If NVC is able to keep up, how will it affect scheduling at different embassies. It's not a problem that is going to be resolved quickly unless the number of new applications drops dramatically because so many were submitted to beat the application fee increase. We just saw the effect of a drastic increase in volume of passport applications.

I see! smile.gif It was easier being mad at the head honchos than sad that my case isn't going anywhere from what I can see.

Now, I"m a little worried. My Husband has already booked his flight over for April. I just hope the POE lets him in.

don't be. he only needs to prove at the POE that he's just on a visit with every intention of returning to his home country. i spent christmas last year with my husband all that was necessary was to show the officer my return ticket and it was a breeze.

Thank you for the reassurance. We're just going to make sure he has lots of documentation that he has strong ties to Scotland.

what they are doing is LEGALLY ending immigration to USA.

This IS the plan. The supervisiors I'm sure encourage longer and longer waits. They want us to move and or give up. And the average american supports this. Hell, joe six pack would probably endorse sending applicants to Guantanamo Bay prison for life or execution.

I have learned to appreciation for living under oppressive regiemes.

I'm sure that's exactly what's happening. The supervisors are saying 'hey don't bother answering the phone calls, enjoy your coffee'. Let's just execute everyone. My tone is sarcastic, BTW. Everyone bitches about the time it's taken, myself included, but no one seems to remember that they received a YEAR'S worth of applications in 6 weeks. What are we expecting? The public servants to work 24/7? It's ridiculous.

I know everyone is frustrated. Believe me, I am too.

The US is not an oppressive regime. I just watched a bunch of illegal immigrants protest for their right to get a driver's license. If this was an oopressive regime they would be on a bus back to their home country or dead. Oppressive Regime's usually dont' let people protest for right's they don't have. I'm not saying the US is perfect but it's far from oppressive.
