CanadaMoving from Vancouver CANADA to HAWAII. Anyone done this?
Best way to get your stuff from point ' A' to point ' B' ? Vancouver to Hawaii move planned in the future.

I'm going to sell what I can, give stuff away. Take as little as possible. BUT we all have stuff to move. And it's expensive! Posted Image

If you've done the move, I've described above, (or similar) your advice is appreciated.

By land, sea or air, we all will somehow get there...Posted Image

CanadaI-134 or 1-864? Need info for packet 3

So trying to prepare everything well in advance and went onto the Montreal US Consulate website. On the appointment checklist for the fiances visa, it is asking for the following forms - Evidence of Support (I-864,I-864,I-864EZ, I-864W) - no where does it list the I-134. Is this some new form for the evidence of support? And if so, do all of these have to be provided? My fiancee has his own business - what will he have to provide besides bank statements and tax returns?

Does Montreal require both Birth Certificates? Mine (beneficiary) His (petitioner)?

He is divorced and I know that the divorce decree is required but do they need his marriage certificate as well?

What is the biographic page of the passport? What is english translation? Do they need his passport and biographic page as well?

Do I have to go to the social security office to obtain my EAD? Is there a cost involved for that? If so, how much?

What is the AP? Is this for advanced parole? I keep seeing AP, EAD mentioned in the same sentance on alot of post and am asking for clarification

Some clarification can be found on this link VJ Abbreviations & Acronyms
I feel the same way sometimes. Follow advice from others filing in Montreal. They've been there, done that.
(I'm in Vancouver doing the same, with West Coast advice).

Hope it's of some help.

Good luck!

CanadaPolice Certificate in Canada?

I did mine yesterday, haha. The thing is that each city does it differently and for different prices.
I've done criminal record checks before but for work and this process/print out they gave me was much different.

What I did was bring a copy of Packet 3 (I'm going through Vancouver and and able to download it early) and showed them what I wanted. I first said I need a criminal record search through the national database and they were confused a bit and asked what it was for - then I showed them the checklist off my Packet 3 - after that, they understood. They take a copy of that and 2 pieces of ID. About 10 minutes of them typing in a computer and they give you a small certificate.

Mine is yellow and it says :

Canadian Police Certificate For visa applicants/foreign travel/foreign work permits.

Has my name/address/DOB/my signature.

Then:
"this certifies that a search basked on the above name and DOB failed to disclose any such person with a record of criminal convictions in the national repository from the criminal records of Canada.

They stamp it and do a fancy embossed/print thing.

I'm also in Vancouver. Also waiting for my NOA2. SO smart to do whatever you can before the next package arrives...

Which police station did you go to in Vancouver? And how much did it cost?
(I've also had to do these criminal checks before, for work and school).

It's so funny to me that this seems like it should be common knowledge...so much you need to know to move countries...

You'd think...

However, sometimes common knowledge isn't common.Posted Image

CanadaRequest For Evidence (RFE 2012)

Sounds like you've got it covered! I am sure once you send it in it will be quick from here!

I am starting to wonder since I drive to Seattle then fly if I will get RFE... I did send in luggage tags and boarding passes though.

You just never know right? Good for you sending what you did. Sounds like you've got it covered too.

Apparently they can send an RFE at anytime during the process. No worries though. Just comply.

It's a longer wait, but true love is always worth waiting for.

CanadaRequest For Evidence (RFE 2012)

The customs violations wasn't the parties violating customs laws, it was the exception to meeting in person if it violates long standing customs in the religion or culture.

Pay very close attention to the primary evidence list. Without any primary evidence your secondary evidence may not be acceptable to them. With little primary evidence, include a lot of secondary evidence. Also include a letter describing those meetings. It ties the evidence together. Get the dates, where and who written on the photos. Make it as easy as possible for them to understand what each bit of evidence means. Do not assume any evidence you sent originally is still with your petition. Resend all the original evidence again and include more.

Yes.. never assume... I've heard in some cases, evidence that has been sent, can get lost. Therefore an RFE is sent out.
I'll be sure to give more Primary Evidence, and everything else we have. PHOTOS have to be time-stamped. I've got a few of those thank goodness. And I've printed off some pictures from 'FACEBOOK'. Those are time-stamped!
Posted Image They have asked for a letter of how we met, (Circumstances of Meeting). So we'll be sending that, and I'm going to have it notarized. (Someone on this site advised doing that. Small fee for piece of mind).

Thanks for the advice Posted Image

*Please note, this is MY example notice. NOT everything on the notice applies to our situation.*

We need to comply with the follow:

-letter of intent to marry, from both of you (AGAIN... sent these with the I-129F package)

-proof you have met in the past two years (in our case Nov 2009-Nov 2011) Either receipts, boarding passes, stamps in passports, time-stamped photos of us (Did that with the 1st package, not enough info I guess)

-Circumstances of Meeting: A letter, how we met. (Advised to have those notarized. DOING that for sure)

CanadaRequest For Evidence (RFE 2012)

The customs violation is just saying that if they haven't met, they need to establish either a Hardship or a Violation of (religious and/or social) customs. I don't think either apply because they have met in person within the 2 years, if I remember correctly.

Good memory Posted ImageWe met in 2008.

Yes, NOT everything on the notice applies to our situation. Thank goodness!

Cheers!
