Vietnammail from Vietnam
I've seen many topics on sending mail to Vietnam, but what services do you guys recommend for sending documents or packagaes from Vietnam?? I've sent letters to my wife and she recieves it within 2 weeks or so, but when she sent me a letter, it took over a month. I'm just worried when I need paperwork with her signature quickly, I can't wait a month for it.

Thanks in advanced, Long.

I am not being lazy Phil09 I'm just confuse with the government paper stuff. Mind you this is my first time getting married so I don't know what to do and this is oversea it more difficult. All this stuff just confuse me that all.

then maybe you should hire someone to help you, because if you make any mistakes, it may be costly to resend to the consulate and redo some steps

you have to send it all to get stamped by the consulate I believe

it believe it allows you to sign for someone else who isn't able to do it for themselves...for examnple if I had power of attorney for my wife, my signature would verify her consent

Packet 3 is for Fiance visa, you dont need to send anything to the consulate, NVC will forward all your documents to the consulate.

ohhh, I guess I missed that, so as soon as we are done with NVC we should be expecting an interview date then??

I thought I kept reading others having to send in Packet 3 to the consulate or whatever, and then they can get Packet 4

Thanks, Long.

so when does packet 3 get sent out?? I thought it got sent after NVC sends to consulate...but then why does packet 3 discuss filling out DS-230??

After all this researching and such, I'm still confused on the process. Can someone please clarify this for me...

Does the DS-230 go to the Consulate or the NVC?? It is listed in the Packet 3 from the Consulate, but also listed on the NVC flow chart...

Thanks, Long.

VietnamImmigrant Visa Delivery Service

The thing that bugs me the most about this is that the Consulate does not give you the option to pick up the visa yourself or have it delivered through the mail courier. It's mail delivery only. Put that together with the bad mail system in VN and you could create a lot of trouble. Thu found out about this yesterday and does she have quite the imagination. She thinks that the Consulate is doing this intentionally. She thinks that a small percentage of the approved cases could have their passports/visas lost in the mail in an attempt to indirectly screw you one last time even though the case got a pink slip. I personally do not think there is any truth in this. Like I said, she has quite the imagination

Anyways, for now I am taking the optimistic point of view that the Consulate will prove me wrong and everything will be alright.

I have the same worry!!

VietnamNVC swapped first and middle name

My wife have 4 words in her full name. A = first, B C = middle, and D = last.

NOA 2 name is correct, but NVC first name is B not A

And, now her Driver Licence name is A, but SS# is B.

We decided not to do anything, till she becoming an USC.

If you decide to correct her name. Make sure you combine both her middle name with a -. Thi-Hoai

Good luck.

Thanks for the input...I have the same problem but was told by a friend not to worrk about it since the paperwork from USCIS is fine...

Good luck! Are you planning to spend Tet in Vietnam? If you are planning on being there, buy the ticket early, and going a little earlier can save you quite a bit on airline tickets.

VietnamCannot Attend Interview
so for the beneficiary's 10 year residency, can I create it and sign it here or should my wife sign it and get it notarized in Vietnam??
long&kieuMaleVietnam (no flag)2011-12-20 09:19:00
VietnamCannot Attend Interview

No need for a letter or anything, the petitioner is not required to be at the interview. I would suggest that you have a time line and 10 year residency notarized and send it to her in case they ask. She should also prepare a 10 year residency as well as a list of her relatives in the states should they ask.

You mean if they ask in the blue sheet?? Or would they ask at the interview??

Hey,

For you guys that did not attend your spouses interview in Vietnam, did you guys have submit a letter of some sort that explained your absence??

Thanks, Long.

I can't due to work, and I'm not sure what to have my supervisor state in the letter in case the consulate asks why I couldn't make it...

VietnamNow I can pace.

Well it is a bust. She can not remember the time of day from exactly 24 hours ago. I have tried but she has a very poor memory and she did not write down any of the questions on the VN forums that she "USES". So she can not help me to return the help to all of you. crea78, if you click on Timeline at the bottom of my member info under the VN star it will show you (it was three days shy of three months from NOA2 to interview. It took us eight days to return p3). I will keep this up to date. I front loaded with everything at the time of filing I-129F and my p3 return to interview took six weeks. I see it usually takes about ten weeks from time of p3 return until the interview. I will have to right some more better detailed info. I am very beat with working extra on my day off and preparing to fly over their for wedding party, buying rings and all of that good stuff.
I will leave Houston on 11/1 have wedding party, wedding album on 15/1 then we will leave SG on 25/1 together. Let me know if you are in town.

so what all did you frontload at the time??

VietnamNow I can pace.

I have the best news. Loan passed her interview. She was one of the first in line and her interview lasted less than five minutes. She was very nervous and did not sleep at all last night. When she went in for interview she saw and older man (CO) and he was a happy man.
The CO complemented that we were a cute couple and admired her modest engagement ring.
He asked her a handful of questions and she received pink. Here are the questions.

How did yoou know your fiance?
When did he send you the first email and what did he say in that email?
Where did you go when he come here to visit you? any evidence?
When was your engagement ceremony?
Did his parents come to Vietnam to join your engagement party?
Has your fiance married before?
Whats your fiance’s job?
When will you make wedding and where?
What is your plan after you enter US?
When was he get divorced?
Does he have children ?
do you know thier name ?
who are they living ?
Do you know about the K1 visa and marriage requirements?

I am just as lucky as luckytxn. I will have to type a review and update the timeline now. I hope you all have the best of luck with your interviews and even more luck with the new year.

I'm curious, in your review, you said you didn't have an engagement party...so is that what your fiance told them?? If so, why were there 2 questions regarding it since the first answer was a no??

Vietnamany Input on my situation...
no problem, if you guys have any other questions just ask...my wife may not be as detailed and specific but I'm sure she won't forget like others...

Vietnamany Input on my situation...
as my wife couldn't remember everything in exact detail, here is a summary in my words from what I gathered...

1. How did you meet your husband? I meet him when he visited his grandpa's house, my neighbor. My parents told me to bring fruit over there and I saw him for the first time and we greeted each other.
2. When did you start a relationship with your husband? July, 2010
3. How many times has he visited since that time? Once
4. When was the wedding?? May 15, 2011
5. How many people were there? 140, about 110 people on the brides side and 30 on the grooms
6. Did anyone from the United States come to the wedding? Yes, his mom, dad, sister and cousin.
7. What does your husband do for a living? His mom?? Architecture and mom works as a manager.
8. Where does he live?? She stated the address.
9. Where did he obtain his architecture degree? Lawrence Tech University

They asked for pictures of when we spent time with each other and my wife gave them a stack which they weeded out and only kept pictures of us together questioning why the other pictures were in the pile.

They did not look at all the Skype or call logs I put together or any of the evidence I provided for the interview.

Basically, if you read through this topic, many people said I had a small chance of passing...but nonetheless, I got lucky as heck.
If you have any questions, I'll answer the best I can.

Vietnamany Input on my situation...

Long

Don't be intimidated by the process. HCMC Consulate is well-known for being notorious when it comes to visa issuance. Keep your chin up. You're in a genuine relationship then there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Your true love and the truth should prevail. DON'T try to forge something that you don't have, as the COs are trained to detect fraud. Don't risk it.

Sorry I was little too late in giving you some input here but I've seen many posts that are very helpful, especially from Kenvin's. Just try to put yourself in the COs shoes. It's easy said than done. Here are some tips that worked for me. You might have already seen these from some previous posts.

1. If you're financially sound, then you can afford a few more trips to VN to be with her. Save all receipts and pictures of the places you two have been to like hotels, restaurants, trips, events, etc.
2. Chat and web logs are also important but I strongly believe a few heartfelt emails from you both are even worth much more than stacks and stacks of nonsense chats.
3. In your timeline, explain in details your relationship. Describe clearly how you two met, why and how you decided to marry her, the reactions of your families when they learned of the news, etc. Don't be afraid to write a long timeline, as long as you have to explain, but try to avoid unnecessary lengthy details.
4. Proof to show that you continue to have an ongoing relationship, not just before and after marriage. Some examples, if possible, such as trying to put your wife's name on your life insurance policy, auto insurance policy, IRA accounts, bank accounts, etc. I did.
5. Also, if you two are interracial, showing that you really went further than you could for your love such as your trying to learn Vietnamese. Those who aren't naturally Vietnamese speaking people know how hard that is to learn Vietnamese.

Those above worked well for me. I had many red flags such as proposing six months after meeting each other only once, my ex was also from Vietnam, no kids from previous marriage, we were married on my second trip to VN (but I visited my wife five times in total). The last time was to travel with her. Wishing you the best.

not as an excuse, but just a setback to go visit her again is that even though I can afford moneywise to go again, I have to start saving up vacation days...I spent nearly all of it for this last trip and it maybe a while before I get a worthwile amount again...

as for the insurance policy, correct me if I'm wrong but for such thigns dont you need a social security number and such before you can add her, or can you get away with a name and birthdat or something, its been a while since I did that type of paperwork,

thanks for the help!! it is defintely keeping me in good spirit, espically after other comments that worried me and brought me down, thanks again!!
long&kieuMaleVietnam (no flag)2011-06-22 05:13:00
Vietnamany Input on my situation...

I didn't submit any timeline with my application nor did I realize about a timeline.
They need not ask my wife for a timeline...we didn't have one.

If you submitted your timeline line along with the application AND if the timeline CLEARLY document how you two met, I say that is good enough.
If you haven't submit anything, I would include a letter at the NVC stage. You're trying described how you two met so the CO can make a determination for pink.

gotcha, that's what I'll do then, thanks!!
long&kieuMaleVietnam (no flag)2011-06-21 11:49:00
Vietnamany Input on my situation...

Long,

Like you, I married my wife 2 months after I met her for the frist time.
I was introduced to her by her aunt and I over come that red flags.
She and I are 13 years apart...she being 23 when we got married. She has just finished college too.

What you will need is good evidence. The marriage certificate is a big first step, IMOP. I went through hell with the Vietnam government to get it.
If you can and should, take at least one more trip over there before the interview. I took 4 trips total. The last one was to pick her up.

The wedding pictures are very important in my case, after they saw the pictures, with 5 of my family members from America attending, they gave her the pink slip.
At least that was what my wife told me.

Lastly, just tell them how you arrived at where you are in a letter. Send that to NVC when you application gets there (kinda like front load late in the game).
NVC will include it when they send you paperwork to Vietnam.
Nothing beats the truth...IMOP, the CO can smell a lie, they just can't always figure out when someone is telling the truth.

so would the letter be different from the timeline?? or just a summary of that the timeline is suppose to provide?? thanks for the help!!
