The NSO does not change anything unless there is a request from the Civil Reg - that's how it works generally. But in cases where there is a misspelling, the Civil registrar would need an affidavit stating that it's just a misspelled name. A lot of times, this is a more complicated situation - the rationale behind it, i don't know. But it's way easier to add a details than CHANGE it. Doesn't make sense, but that's how the system works.

The 120 days after the NOA2 is for you to appear within that window of time. You have already interviewed, you should be fine!

Scotty'sgirl: Have you had your BC amended and corrected na? Make sure you do it ASAP.

Hi happydancer! I haven't. How long will it take if I will have it amended & where? Thanks.

Go to the Local Civil Registrar where you were registered for your BC and ask them about the process of adding a middle name to your BC. That's the case with my daughter. It took me about one month to process the paperworks and 1 month to get the NSO to amend and add it to their database. Don't worry, you can keep track of it the moment the Local Civil Registrar has forwarded the correction to them. They use LBS so it's traceable.

Thanks a lot for that. That's very helpful.

You're welcome! Good luck!

I see..cant do anything about it anymore, Do you think they will interview me again? or is it possible that i will be denied? hope not...

I suppose you were given a white slip? That means they just need additional proof of your identity. I don't think you'll be denied. Relax!

The new NBI with your misspelled name will not take long. The processing at the USEM's side though will be a timeline of 60days from submission. Don't worry about your petition expiring as you have already appeared for the interview.
Don't worry. It will just be another set of wait though.

PhilippinesSt.Lukes info to Embassy
QUOTE (Larry / Angelina @ Sep 2 2009, 05:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Because of a medical situation in the Philippines , we have to change our medical and interview plans . So I have a couple of questions that I hope I can get some help for .

#1) How many days does it take for St.Lukes to send info to Embassy ? They usually do it by batch... Say all the medicals for the current week will be forwarded the following Monday. However, in my case, at the last minute I was able to change the interview date to the day after my medical, I just made sure that I informed the St. Luke's Releasing counter about it and they made me handcarry my passport to the embassy.
#2) We are going to ask CO if we can pick up the visa , so how long (days) does it take to be able to go back and get visa ? I'm not sure if this practice is still allowed by the USEM. The last I heard, they insist on courier delivery only. You can always try though. Give them at least 10 business days for your visa and packet pickup.
basic outline is as follows..

Tue & Wed do medical ..
Fri have the interview..
Hopefully can pick up visa on Monday.
I know I am assuming alot here , but this is our best case senerio.
I hope someone has a answer.
Thanks to all

Hope this helps. biggrin.gif Good luck!

PhilippinesNeed your help - K3, CR1 and IR1 visa Medical Process
To all who have been through or undergoing the K3, CR1 and IR1 visa, I need your help.

My cousin's husband just got approved of the spousal petition (she didn't tell me which one - K3, CR1 or IR1). He got the letter from the US embassy in Manila that his interview will be on October 27, and that he has to complete the medical before that. Now, does he need to call and set an appointment at St. Luke's or can he just walk in? Some visa application require an appointment for the medical and I would like to have a clear understanding if that should be the case for a spousal visa as well.

Let me know your thoughts. I would appreciate it. Thanks!!!

PhilippinesAll the pregnant ladies
I know how that feels Phil. MY pregnancy was so bad, I lost almost 15 lbs just because I could not keep anything down after I eat, especially. I was salivating most of the time, sensitive to smell and scents, I even hated my bath soap and shampoo and conditioner I have to change all of it to unscented. I dislike a few people all of a suddn... It was awful and a lot of it is because of the hormones. I keep throwing up since I was 2 weeks on the way until I was about 6 months. I only started eating rice again when I was already 5 months pregnant. Kinda rough, but my mom told me she was the same with my brother too. The second pregnancy was not as bad. Tell Shir to hang in there. It's all worth it in the end. smile.gif Congrats!

PhilippinesSt Lukes MED EXAM - DONE IN ENOUGH TIME BEFORE USEM INTERVIEW?
Real life experience here you go:

http://www.visajourn...howtopic=183224

I started my medical on a Wednesday and finished it on a Friday. Say it was March 6th if I'm not mistaken. My interview was not until March 27th but luckily for me I got a reschedule slot for a March 10th so I was able to make it for that day. You just have to inform St. Luke's that you need to handcarry the passport with the medical clearance because your interview is just a few days from the medical.

IF YOU GET REALLY LUCKY - that your fiancee's medical is clean - I'd say you can make it. If not, call the US Embassy if you suspect a delay and just reschedule. They will allow a certain number of days to cancel and reschedule anyway. Good luck!

Reminders: Get to the clinic as early as you can. Waiting can be hours (seriously) for a 5min procedure and interview and screening. And don't be shy to ask and be informed! That has a lot of people getting lost in the process because they do not ask! Tell your fiancee to be gutsy and not be shy.

I guess it has a lot to do with the connection bandwidth. I always restart the pc every after we say goodnight. I regularly perform defragmentation and disk cleanup too to kinda free up some memory and get rid of useless files.

I use my Magicjack even with Skype on and we never have problems. It's just a pain in the a$s though when you have connection problems with the provider!

PhilippinesHold Departure for A Friend

The fact that she signed something indicates that there was a contract even if it was not formal.

Bear in mind that many verbal agreements are legally binding and a Lender can demand payment without a written contract. There are many ways to prove in court that the Lender was owed money, especially since she signed what I believe was a promissory note.

That being said, no hold departure orders can be issued if a case is not filed in court.

There are lots of gray areas here. Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I am concerned, when it is not a criminal offense, no Hold-departure order shall be in order. On top of that, I am under the assumption that the lender can demand payment with the written contract being considered. When it needs to be paid? Who knows? The catch: If she issues a check and it bounced - that's estafa... She'll get in trouble and will then be grounds for a case as per the Bouncing Check Law.

OP: Better get a lawyer's view on this. Hope this helps!

QUOTE (raquel_1208 @ Oct 2 2008, 10:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am not sure but I have read long ago from someone who used presumptive death as the reason for termination of marriage and US embassy did not look too kindly on that. They also do their own investigation. My advice is consult a lawyer who have successful annulment cases. Its better to go through lengthy process that will surely terminate the marriage than go through the presumptive death reason that you are not even sure if it will be accepted by US embassy.

PhilippinesCFO - Proof of singleness - solution

I did alot of searching through the forums, and alot of calling before I came to this realization.

CFO in Cebu is apparantly notorious for requesting proof of "singleness" from US petitioners before they will provide the foreign fiance(e) with the required seminar/certificate. As there is no "Cenomar" as there is in Philippines (and my Filipino fiancee was told a Cenomar would not be accepted for me, since I never lived there), it looked as if we were out of luck, but alas I found it.

I called my State Dept. of Health and they informed me of the Single Status Affidavit. Bascially they search the databases, and check with the Secretary of State, to certify that your are, indeed, single. Then they manufacture some special document, that is specific to the country you are acquiring it for (forget what they called it) and they attach it to the Affidavit and mail it to you (in about a week).

That came as some relief. Just hope all goes well from here...

Good luck!

I don't feel a sense of satisfaction in my day, like I have not accomplished anything. sad.gif
