Furthermore, your wife might be a Filipina if:

*She says sigue if she means "yes".
*She uses Pssst-sst to get attention.
*She offers an apology before she asks a question.
*She says "na" instead of "now", as in "Lets go home na".
*She refers to the AC as aircon.
*She raises here eyebrows to say "yes".
*She and her lady friend are holding hands when walking.

Hey Rob,

I honestly didn't care much for the sausage when I was in the states. It always comes up as a teasing session between me and my SO. I hate the sausage - but I Loooove the biscuits especially the ones with gravy and grits on the side. biggrin.gif You should try the Longganisa that jom has mentioned. It's a bestseller here in the Philippines.

Awww... I think I might have a problem with the adjustment with food there. I am a huge fan of Filipino food- dried fish, longganisa and toyo! I had to settle with KFC and bread every time I go there. In fact, i have decided, I could live on bread alone when I go there. sad.gif

My wife introduced me to a kind if sausage in the Philippines called LANGGONISA which we eat for breakfast with sunny side up eggs. We found packs in the FIlipino store here and she thought I might like it. I LOVE IT!! It is sweet and just great when mixed with rice and eggs. She is not really a fan of our American sausage, she said the taste is different.

Do go on! I don't believe it, she's just kiddin', ain't it? laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

Thanks Habibitk. Yeah! I'll see you in KY.

Ok here's the deal guys. My fiance is going to send me W2s of 2005,2006 and 2007 and 2008. Are these enough? Or do we have to request transcripts and 1040 for 2008 along with these? Thanks!

Go for the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug. There's a good place in the mountains La Tegola Italian Resto. You can have dinner there overlooking the city. smile.gif Food is fab!

We stayed at the Waterfront for a bit. The atrium area is just beautiful but the rooms were kind of drab. They did have a great buffet breakfast good.gif I think I got more bang for my buck at the Holiday plaza. It is older but the staff was really nice, took great care of us, had the free breakfast and the food at the place on top of the hotel was really good.

I think the point is, it does not matter whether you are a moderator, organizer, or just a plain member. We all acknowledge the fact that we have differences in perceptions, beliefs, principles, culture, etc. That however, does not give us the freedom to go ahead and feel entitled to degrade or belittle anybody, Filipina or not.

These things are NOT pointed out for the purpose of getting back at anybody. It is a reminder.

I am with you there Eros. How could anyone even assume that when you start throwing fire at someone, they expect to be tolerated? As for me, moderator or not, if you are a member, do your job - and that is to be objective all the time.

I was expecting to be banned after I posted a nasty comment in a thread that was offensive to us Filipinas. I received a PM from a Moderator (she was nice and very objective) which said that she did not see any reason that I should receive a ban right now. However, I was also advised to please stop perpetuating the issue.

I reported the offensive post that prompted me to make a nasty comment and it was immediately removed by the Mods. Other racially motivated posts were also removed from that thread.

May I request beautiful ladies that from hereon, when you see a post that is offensive to the Filipina, PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND. Instead, report the poster immediately by clicking on their VJ name. A pull down menu will appear, then click "Report Member".

I am sure that eventually the attacks will stop if we are VIGILANT in reporting the offenders.

Thank you for your cooperation. Mabuhay ang mga Pinay!

p.s. I shed off my Gabriela Silang persona and bolo at balik na sa pagiging Demi Moore (demure).

I know exactly of the post you are talking about and having a Filipina Fiance
and future wife, it really upset me too. I will not take lightly any offensive remarks about Filipino peoples or my own ancestry for that matter. Like you say, I WILL REPORT anyone who has any offensive remarks, immaterial who are they pointed too, race, country, etc. This is a site is to help people going thru the VISA process and share our own experiences. There is no room for any racial motived posts. It OK to feel proud of you own ancestry and most people like me always enjoy learning about different culture and believes as long it is done in a proper and respected format.
Cheers..

Good day/evening to all the Pinays/Pinoys (isama naman natin mga lalake)... smile.gif The whole stunt that someone pulled in order to start a war was something very indicative of a weak person. Hurt, as we were, we REACTED.

Lessons learned: Be proactive and not reactive. Go ahead and report it right away.

Notes, to the mods. I did send a report right away and in fact someone who was a moderator, as well, enjoyed the whole fight. He didn't do a thing. He played along and that is very, very, very uncalled for. Whatever happened to "Walk the Talk"?

Anyway, the damage has been done - and that's the saddest part. Let's all be responsible and accountable every time we let go of words. Reflect on how you would possibly take the statement if you were the recipient of the remark.

Thanks!

Right! Of course a good credit standing and a good name counts a lot too. But for a start, you are pretty much on the trial and error side. You can't make it big right away the first time. So enjoy the wins and may be losses... But keep going.
