K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTotal Costs of Immigration
Some is the basic fees, like filing for the visa, the AOS fees after they arrive, the $100 for the visa, biometrics fees Other fees are country specific, for example the cost of the medical exam.

Because my SO is in Iran, where we have no embassy he had to travel to Turkey for his interview and medical, and of course the second trip for the visa that was not issued, and hopefully his final third visit to Turkey for his visa. Each trip required him to fly and stay in a hotel and meals during his stay.

Some other costs we ran into was in mailing the packet to the embassy. Turkey requires it be sent by UPS and they only accept UPS from Turkey and the US. So my SO sent it to me from Iran registered mail (no idea how much that cost) and I sent it by UPS to Turkey (about $45). Add to that all the copies and notaries for official translations, etc

Right now we are at about $2,000-$3,000 for his to get here plus the $1000 or so for the AOS.

So yeah between the costs and the wait time (I filed the petition in June 2006) I almost wish he had snuck to Mexico two years ago.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBlown away
Thanks for the laugh, I really, really needed it.

As for the hope they don't breed, it mentions she has a child, I would assume the result of their actions somewhere in the US or Canada.

So you just sell your stuff, pack up your few remaining belongings and move to the US. Wow, I need to tell my man this. To think we have been waiting almost two years and it was really that simple

These are obviously some real desirables that the US needs living here.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about validity of medical
Coming up on our one year anniversary of his interview and of course his medical exam will be one year old. One person at the consulate, through a response to my senator, said all he would have to do is sign a new application for a visa which he can do when he arrives to submit his passport.

When I called the consulate myself the lady said he would have to have another exam because maybe he became sick in the past year.

Does anyone know how Ankara handles these things or have had prior experience with this. He's already made two trips to Ankara and if his clearances are ever finished it will require a third. He really can't afford to keep paying for these things over and over again because the US government is stupid.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresappealing on k1 pending case
You are probably in the dreaded security checks. Call DOS at 202-663-1225 push 1 then 0 to get a real person. Give them the case number and they can tell you if it is "undergoing administrative processing". If it is there is nothing you can do. Contacting your representative or senator might help but it is unlikely. I have been in the same situation since April 2007 also. It must simply go until all the checks are completed.
belinda63FemaleIran2008-04-13 08:45:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresName check during K1 process
My understanding is as follows.

As soon as the packet is returned to the consulate it is checked for completeness and then electronically sent to DOS for the FBI name check. At the interview the fingerprints are taken and those are also sent. Where I become confused is that the consulate can request checks outside of the norm and will not tell you who they are with or what is going on other than it's still in AP.
DOS tells me my SO's checks were completed months ago but the consulate has requested additional processing (checks) and no one knows how long this will take.

As to the whole no fly list, I would hope that with the visa and knowing all the checks that were required to get it that at the most it might result in a delay while the info is verified. Maybe you would want to meet your SO at the POE just to help with any problems.
belinda63FemaleIran2008-04-15 14:15:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdouble process!!!!!
It is my understanding, if my memory serves me correctly, that the SO signs a statement during the interview that they understand they must marry and file for AOS within 90 days of arrival in the US.
It is also my understanding that at the POE they are again told they must marry and file for AOS within 90 days or leave the country.

Clearly they should have known the K-1 visa was not the correct visa to enter on and just hoped they could get away with it. There was another story I read about a person from the Phillipines who like 6 years after entry was being deported along with her children because it was discovered they had married and then she had entered on a K-1.

My advice would be to call an attorney tomorrow or at least call immigration and inquire as to this and the possible consequences thereof.

It may mean more time apart but this is better than jail and deportation for fraud.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPETITON TOUCHED...DOES IT MEAN APPROVAL
When mine was approved I received a letter stating such and that it had been forwarded to the embassy. Hang in there I am sure it will be soon
belinda63FemaleIran2008-05-29 22:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescheck name process
the mohammid name is a problem along with many others. My SO has been in AP for more than 16 months, he is an ali and a mohammid......good luck and hang in there.
belinda63FemaleIran2008-06-11 21:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 petition expiration?
Yep the embassy automatically extends it. One of my many suggestions I sent out months ago was to extend the time the petition is valid for since it is almost impossible for anyone to complete the paperwork, interview, and security checks in four months.

My case has been extended every four months for 1 1/2 years now.
belinda63FemaleIran2008-07-10 16:43:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Expiration Date and influence on K1
I would go ahead and start the renewal process. If it comes through while on AP or something you just need to submit the new passport to the embassy. Not a big deal.

This would be better than getting the visa and not being able to use it or finishing AP and not getting the visa because of the about to expire passport.
belinda63FemaleIran2008-07-15 15:17:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUsing a State senator to speed up K-1 process
I agree with the others, there is no expediating, speeding up, preferential treatment, that a congressman or senator can do. We are all in the same boat and all have to wait our time, some longer than others.
If you run into a snag, such as exceptionally long security checks or being outside of the time lines then an inquiry by your congressman may help to get things moving.

I can assure you if you are within the timelines the congressman either will not or cannot help you

I understand where your parents are coming from but they must realize there are thousands of immigrant visa requests in the system at any one time as well as many thousands of non-immigrant visa requests., You are neither unique or special and to help expediate yours would mean he/she would have to do the same for every constituent which could be hundreds.

Good luck, keep in touch, and don't lose hope.
belinda63FemaleIran2008-07-16 20:48:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWait to file K-3?
The answer is no. I am guessing either you want to try living together with the K-1 or maybe introduce her to the US this way before making life long decisions? Bring her on a visitors visa if you can, much cheaper.

Rather silly to do a k-1 then marry then do a k-3

As for " my commission expires on" : that is the Notary person's commission expiration date (in other words when that person is no longer a Notary)
I was a Notary Public for my state back in the day ...lol.....
i hope this answers your question

Donna, the answer to question 3 from you is for the Notary Public to fill out where it says "My commission expires on..."when it is being notarized. ok? remember 1 wrong mistake might lead to a RFE(or a delay) be careful .. we have to wait long enough any way,.. even without a RFE. .... good.gif

Hi,

Please can someone help me with this.

I am currently preparing my I-134, and I have some questions on how to proceed.

My fiance is currently in his first year of law school after having worked for a couple of years. He relies on loan at the moment as he has spent his savings but will be working at a law firm this summer. As at the moment his salary and savings (he has no property) would not be sufficient to be a sponsor, his dad has agreed to be a co-sponsor.

My questions are these-

1. Does my fiance need to fill out a 1-134? And should he give his bank records, tax returns, letters confirming his loans for last few years?

2. Is there any form to fill out for the co-sponsor in addition to the I-134?

3. At the end of the I-134 is a section called "Oath or affirmation of sponsor". How do I tell me fiance and his dad to fill where it says "My commission expires on..."? And does this document need to be notarized?

Many thanks in advance for your help

HELP!
I live in Vancouver and my fiance lives in Montana. I have a daughter who was born in the US from a previous marriage to an american 15yrs ago. (I didn't become an american citizen during the years I was there)I want to move us to be with my fiance as soon as possible. We were thinking of putting my stuff in storage, going to 'visit' for a while in Montana, and marry while there. If we file paperwork from the US can they come and track us down and kick us out of the US once we are there even though my daughter is an american? Is it wiser to stay engaged and file the fiance visa instead?? It is very near the Canadian border so if necessary I could go to Saskatchewan for interviews, etc. Would it be wise to keep an address in Sask. and return for brief stays or would they deny re-entry to the US ???? Oh man, what to do???? How long can we 'visit' for legally? Is my daughter being american of any help to us? There is no town within 2 hours on the Sask. side or we would try living there and just commuting back and forth while the paperwork gets done! So basically, is it wiser to 'visit' and apply for a fiance visa or 'visit' and apply for a spouse visa? Can they force my american daughter to return to Canada?? Would they let me stay in the US with her in the US because she's a minor while the paperwork is done???? lol. Help answer any of this if you can, please!!!! Thank you!!!

HI Princess....it is not wise to "visit" while the process is going on...your best bet is to wait to get married (apply for a K1 visa for fiance) as there's talk of the K3 visa getting cancelled. If they ever discovered that you're actually living in the states illegally, you may never get approved for a permanent visa or for that matter, a visa of any type as they frown upon these tactics. We are all going thru the same thing here on Visa Journey...it is a long process & we all miss our loved ones deeply but it's what we all have to go thru to be legal and never have to face deportation or legal issues. Apply NOW for the K3, the longer you wait, the longer it will be before you can move. At the top of the site, there is a link to Guides, do as much reading as you possibly can...get educated on what you have to do ASAP! Every day that passes is wasted time to be with your love. When going the K3 Visa route, the consulate you'd be dealing with is in Vancouver, Montreal for easterners...there's no US Consulate in SK and no medical examiner here either, nearest place is Calgary. Good luck to you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee Visa Packet returned to USCIS by Consulate (HELP!!!)
QUOTE (J & N @ Jun 19 2008, 11:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thank you all for letting me vent. I contacted my district's US congressman yesterday but I don't know how long it takes for them to respond/address the issue. I'm pretty sure his office is swamped by immigration issues since his district is South Texas. All I can do now is wait...... I can't even turn in the birth certificate requested since I can't get an appt at the consulate. Should I mail a copy to USCIS?

I contacted both my Representative and Senator. I heard back from them within a month. They contacted the embassy in ISB to see what my case status is. The embassy mailed the exact same letter to each of them, saying that our case is in administrative processing and they can't estimate how long it will take. I have heard that the contact from our representative here flags your case so it will get processed faster. I don't know if that is true or not. Ours has been in admin. processing for 8 months now.........

We sent out I-129F package to TSC Fri 30th by USPS express. They tried to deliver it to TSC Mon 2nd of April at around 2 pm, but were unable to????? Is no one working in that place during normal office hours? Is it normal?

It's already April 4th, and still not received. :crying: Should we call to USPS and kick their butts, or is it something on the TSC end? I'd just like to know if this is normal, or something we should be concerned about. Your answers are much appreciated :)

A friend of mine is also applying for a K-1 visa and her fiance had asked for the I-134 (Evidence of support form) from an immigrant officer, who told him that the I-134 is a "Mickey Mouse one" and she/he wrote a "better one".

What are people's experiences with I-134? I didn't even know there were other forms applicable. And why would they still insist on using I-134 if it is such a joke?
