Philippinesdoes anyone here sending western union online????
Moneygram works pretty well for us. The fee is a flat $10 at WallMart. Check to see if there are places to get a moneygram where you are sending.

PhilippinesAnyone here who didn't meet their Love online?

It's amazing how much wrath you take from culturally-conditioned and jealous people about it. Most people are fine with it, but there is a very strange minority that foams at the mouth over it. You cheated! You exploited her! Human trafficking! She's just a prostitute!

Don't forget the other side that says she exploited you! She just wants a green card after all, how could you imagine that she would really want a strong family - with you!

PhilippinesAnyone here who didn't meet their Love online?

I travelled to many countries including the Philippines and had determined that was where the best chances were for finding exactly what I was looking for.

After meeting her in the Philippines I was amazed at how many times we were asked with suspicion: "did you meet on the internet...?"

I didn't understand why that was treated with such contempt. I finally demanded to know why.

Well apparently a lot of Filipinas make money by stripping on webcams.

So therefore I joined Yahoo Chat group and have offered to strip for money. And you know, I haven't made any money at all yet.

I just don't understand.

Sorry, another drive-by post here. Over in the RUB forum, some of us that did not meet on the internet are met with suspicion and disbelief. I kid around about finding a web catalogue special on women my wife's age and just splurging (drives her crazy). Apparently lots of people simply cannot believe you could meet any one from another country casually.

PhilippinesAge difference of fiance to fiancee?

To those who filed k-1, what is the average age difference of a fiance to a fiancee? Is it a matter of desperation for such young girls to marry old guys? Is it for love or money?

It varies case by case. My wife and I have a cosiderable age gap, and have been married close to three years. We have nornal man/woman issues, cultural differences to work with, and age related issues too. The good news is that it gets better with time. I would say that the amount of time you actually spend together before you commit can be a help. many of the relationships that seem to catch fire and end that I read about on VJ seem to relate to the couple not knowing each other very well. On the other hand, there are loads of couples with large age differences that are just fine.

Curiosity killed the cat ~

Just the same considerable age differences between a man and wife is nothing new nor something that is directly related to Filipinas either. There is an age old saying that a man should marry a woman half his age + seven years. Okay how many guys just grabbed a calculator?

I did a quick google search and found this:

http://marriage.abou...maydecember.htm

Some people seem to have issue with age differences and for them I have a saying I have always enjoyed - A closed mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I personally was not looking for a much younger wife when I decided to "get back out there", yet destiny had different ideas.

 I did do the math, and was pleased to find that we are right on the target.

Hello all! My fiance and I filed as of June 30th (through California) Very green when it comes to the lingo and everything else on this site, but were trying to catch up smile.gif

Just curious if anyone else filed around the same time? So far we havent heard anything, but I understand a holiday weekend is probably not the best for production.

Thanks!

Kelli

June 16 (Vermont). We had three touches since then - but two were during the past two business days.

Hello good people!!

My fiancee is from Lima, Peru. I sent in my I129F petition form to the Vermont Service Center at the end of April. I certified it, so I know it was received on May 1, and my filing fee check was processed on May 12. I know this from my bank records. I thought the processing of my check was a good sign. But it is July 12 and I have not heard anything yet. No emails, no phone calls, no letter, nada!! Is this normal or should I be concerned? Perhaps I am just a little anxious. I would appreciate it if someone who has gone through the process could elaborate on this for me. Thanks!

Don't panic yet. I have seen recent and older posts saying that sometimes cases are not "touched" at all and still get approved in the regular time. Maybe after 100 days start to sweat it. Good Luck!

Do I really need to say it? Never, ever buy your ticket prior to having the visa in your hand as there are so many things that could happen to delay receiving the visa.

PhilippinesFor those whos parents have arrived here in the US
First allow me to direct you to this site. You have posted similar questions elsewhere so maybe I can help some. Once your wife becomes a citizen she can petition for her mother to come to the US. The process is similar to bringing a wife to the US, she will file the I-130 petition and assorted other papers, pay the fees, the mother will interview in Manilla, if approved she will receive a VISA, after she arrives in the US she will receive a green card.
After the mother arrives she may petition for her children If they are unmarried. For the Philippines the wait is currently 2 1/2 years for children under 21 and about 10 years for children over 21. The child protection act may come into play depending when the petition was filed and the age of the child at the time but in your situation, having to wait for the wife to receive citizenship (about 1 year) and then petitioning for her mother (about 1 year) the children will probably be over 21 prior to a visa becoming available for them even with CSPA.

Everyone who wants to immigrate to the US must go through the process and receive a VISA. After their arrival in the US they either file to receive the green card or it is mailed to them automatically after their arrival. No one gets a green card at the embassy

PhilippinesInsurance question
Correct, but they still will not be eligible for Medicare of Social security until they meet the 40 quarters of work to qualify even if they obtain citizenship.
The affidavit of support would not be an issue once they obtain citizenship and they would qualify for Medicaid (depending on income).
belinda63FemaleIran2011-08-22 16:25:00
PhilippinesInsurance question
Correct I mistyped and meant medicare. The 40 work quarters applied to medicare, not medicaid. For medicaid, it being a state managed insurance I believe general rules are anything other than emergency medicaid is not available to LPRs for 5 years. An of course the government could come after the sponsor for repayment.
belinda63FemaleIran2011-08-22 14:45:00
PhilippinesInsurance question
No problem right here. She is probably collecting benefits based upon her spouse's payment into the system. For example (and this is just a generality, lots of specifics apply) a spouse can collect social security based upon their wages or they can collect 1/2 of their spouses benefits depending on which is more and if the spouse is deceased they can collect 100% of their benefits. The key here is the spouse or applicant must have an eligibility for social security/medicare in order to receive benefits, eligibility meaning 40 quarters of qualifying income.
belinda63FemaleIran2011-08-22 14:06:00
PhilippinesInsurance question
Can't answer the insurance question but to be eligible for social security and probably also medicaid you have to have 40 quarters of work. Even if you can find insurance to cover them be prepared to pay a very large amount for it. So long and short you are looking at a minimum of 10 years of one or both of them working before they qualify for social security and/or Medicare.

PhilippinesGot married in the Philippines but on a K1 Visa application
When you enter the country they might ask questions such as when do you plan to marry, are you still single, have you married yet, etc. A false answer to any of these questions is material misrepresentation which could carry a lifetime ban.
When you file for AOS you will have to include a copy of your marriage certificate. If you already married in the Philippines your marriage in the US will not be valid (and you will have to lie to get the marriage license since you are no longer single). Filing a false marriage certificate with the AOS is material misrepresentation.

Could you get away with it? Maybe, but is the immigrant living the rest of their life knowing that if Immigration ever finds out about the initial marriage in the Philippines and losing their LPR status or even citizenship (if they make it that far), being deported, and having a lifetime ban from the US really worth having a wedding in the Philippines first? Come here, get married, then return to the Philippines after you receive Advance Parole and have the wedding of a lifetime there.

PhilippinesHow to Marry...
Well she can't file for a family based visa or to adjust status as she is not free to marry. I think John has the process pretty well planned out but is just looking for anything he might have missed that would make the process shorter. Maybe you could post in the Philippine forum as they could provide more specific advise about the annulment process and how long it takes. Me, completely uneducated about it, understand from several posts I have read that the process is long and difficult.
