June 16 for our NOA1, and last touch was July 9. I just booked a flight for January 1 for a two week trip with my SO to Turkey. Odds are that I will have to go back only a week or two after returning to the US. I guess there are worse problems to potentially have, but it is not knowing anything that is the trouble.

Going thru the CSC, and by the looks of it, wishing I lived in Vermont. I think its incredibly stupid that the USCIS can't shift resources or manage this any better.

I don't think you can tell how many times your case was touched before you opened the account, just the last touch date. The case could have been touched several times before that - no telling.

Don't worry, here's why. I panicked starting at 10 days from the date I sent the I-129F. The USCIS didn't cash my check and they wouldn't accept my call until 4 weeks after we filed. In the end they got the petition, its in the stack with everybody else's. So if you have a USPS (or other) tracking number that says they signed for your paperwork sit back and relax, its being processed. I was a mess for weeks so please learn from my overreaction.

Have him call USCIS at 800-375-5283 and ask them. press:

1 for English
1 for intro - 2 to skip
2 to report an issue with your case
6 to check status of your case
2 if you don't have you receipt number (case number)
2 if you haven't received receipt
then opt out to a customer service rep during business hours

They may not have you in the system yet, but this menu will I think get you to the correct place at USCIS. I find that each section has reps with a script for that section, so if I opt out at the wrong point they can't answer my questions.

Good Luck - If the check was cashed, you are probably only days away from your NOA1.

We all wait for these "touches" as a sign that our cases are not just sitting in some boxes. However, from what I've been reading on this site, these touches may not mean anything.

We got our NOA1 on June 16th. Thanks for creating this thread!!! It is exciting to see others in basically the same place in the process.

I have a dumb question. How do you tell when you case has been "touched" by USCIS? When I check online, it says the last update was June 16, the date of the NOA. Does this mean no touches?? helpsmilie.gif

Also, I am looking at the statistics, and it's obvious that VSC is experiencing slow-down at this time. sad.gif But I am trying to stay positive smile.gif

I check my case almost everyday and my boyfriend told me already to relax LOL..
I know that touches dont mean anything but at least they are signs that they are "touching" the case LOL......I know, the VSC is getting slow with the processes.....but let's be positive and very patient..

I check progress of our case every day too wacko.gif I filed petition for my boyfriend and cannot wait until petition is approved! I know it's a long wait, but I want the process to be over already.

By the way, one of the "touches" on our case happened on June 21 (which was Saturday). Someone told me here that VSC is working weekends too, so I am checking the USCIS' website on weekends also.

Definitely call NVC, and keep calling. I got the KEV number a week before I received three identical notices from NVC. I never did get an email from CRIS, and the status online was still the same a month later.

That is all I did. Remember to call back frequently until the have some resolution. My letter didn't help much though honestly, the rep was told to call back when we were over the latest USCIS time limit.

I agree with you, it does seem like it might do something funny to the averages!!!!! I actually grabbed some of the raw data, threw out the high and low wait times, and made my own average. I don't remember the specifics, except that it seemed as though the averages weren't too different (high wait and expedite balanced out, basically).


Also, you should keep in mind that some people might take all they want/need from VJ, and never log in again to update their time lines - it looks like this is true for about 10% of time lines that get started.


True - also remember that VJ is a very small sample of applicants. The USCIS service center definitely take petitions in order, but they do not necessarily process them in order. There are extensive threads about delays in processing.
