As it turns out my fiancée, with whom I have felt happier than ever before in my life, has been cheating on me. What's worse is that she was doing it for money. Yes, she was selling herself. I don't want to believe it, but there is no denying the evidence. I believe I may still be in a bit of denial myself because the grief of breaking up has not hit yet. I imagine the crying will begin within the next 24-48 hours. The vomiting has already started and I feel very numb. I was reading travel and tourism pages last night, which led me to other pages, which led me to other pages, which led me to a message board about sex tourism, complete with detailed first hand stories and photos. I opened a thread about Cartagena, and lo and behold, I am greeted by half a dozen recent pictures of my now ex-fiancée in a seedy motel room in her lingerie and in the other man's clothing, along with a brief account of her time with the poster. She had been acting very strange the past few weeks and this certainly explains her behavior. I called her, very calmly stating that it is important she tell me the truth about what she had been doing during that time. She continued to lie even when confronted with the photos. I told her very truthfully that I will always love her, but that I did not know what to do. She said she would call me when she woke up this morning, and that was that. She has not called yet and I don't know if she will. If I do not hear from her today, I will call her mother to say goodbye, leaving it between the two of them to discuss the specifics. I'm sure she will lie, but I don't want to directly cause a catastrophe between them. I will then send her an upbeat email thanking her for her time and wishing her a fond farewell. In a few days I'll notify the Department of State of my desire to cancel the petition. Thank you, visajourney.com community for providing so much information to guide me through the process. I hope things work out better for the rest of you. Please excuse me while I go ball up in a corner and await my fate. You made the right decision, and probably dodged a bullet too. I would write the embassy Consul General about the situation (Landon Taylor). Also, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Visa Service (Stephen Edson), and there is a Chief of Consular Affairs, but I don't know who it is currently. His birthdate is on the birth certificate but it was posted on another date. I guess they date the birth certificate on the day they file the certificates. USCIS increased processing fees around that time, and they were buried under millions of additional applications of all types from folks trying to avoid the fee increase. VJ has really helped me to better understand and cope with the process. Yes National Visa Center is the next stop... it's usually pretty quick (two weeks or less). After that your packet goes to the embassy. Check the embassy web site for instructions... in the Philippines once you clear the NVC you can schedule the medical, but it may be different in your case. Good luck! I think medical is ususlly scheduled immediately before the interview in Kiev. Not only our interviews are on the same day, but turns out we both honored ProCredit Bank with our humble visa fee donation on the same day ))) I am now all set too, and just waiting for the Big Day See you guys there! Cool! A funny story about ProCredit. When I send Vika money, I put it in an account with an ATM card she keeps. Since the card has only my name on it, I have told her several times to use it only as a bankomat card, even though there is a visa symbol on it. She didn't want to carry lots of cash on the metro in Kiev, so she did "guess what" at the bank. The call I got was "Bradik, I had a small problem paying the visa fee" . The clerk ran the transaction by swiping the card, and then said "OMG - this isn't yours!!". Vika used almost every hrvna she had to pay the fee, then went outside to the bankomat and discovered the money in the account was not available. It takes a refund several days to work through the system. Fortunately it was easy to solve the problem with another small transfer. I did however have to give our life stories to the bankers here to keep them from closing the account on suspicion of fraud When I asked her if she remembered me saying to never EVER present the card to a person, she actually started to sniffle a little.
